Nice hotel, beautiful and very clean and very nice employees.

Nice and spacious. No microwave is only downfall.

Manager checked us in our 1st stay. Old world customer service to the 10th degree that you do not see much these days; Very polite & concerned about our stay. Hotel is safe & clean with very modern fixtures. On our 2nd stay due to plumbing problems the Manager arranged for us to stay at a nearby hotel and picked up the expense. Manager & her staff demonstrated perfect customer service.

The staff there were so nice and has answered any questions I had. It's in a convenient location I have to take chemo in Birmingham right down the street. Beautiful rooms too.

Never had a bad experience staying here! Some of the staff know us by name and that is huge to me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the best hotel to stay at if using facilities at UAB. Located so close to the hospital that you can walk to the doctors offices from the hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Very convenient to park car, check in and then walk over to UAB for medical appointments. Anyone coming to UAB, stay here and you’ll be glad you did.

This a great hotel if you have business at UAB Hospital. The staff is friendly and efficient several restaurants reasonably close by. Ample parking.

Hotel is conveniently located next to UAB Medical Center (and parking deck), which also has a number of restaurants within close walking distance. Main lobby is spacious with ample seating that include outlets for charging/powering your gadgets. Lobby also includes a few TV's, recycling/trash station, ice water station, and a couple private meeting booths. Off of the lobby is a little cafe. Staff was friendly and room was clean. Great place to stay if you have a family or friend in the hospital.

Location is good but housekeeping sucks. I have two room that join together. I checked in on Thursday and everything was good. Went to the hospital on Friday and when I returned to the rooms, neither of them had been cleaned. Went to the front desk to complain and the general manager was very rude. I ended up calling corporate.

Wow! I tried to get a job at Marriott, but, after mentioning I wasn’t interested in going back to school, they didn’t send the emails they said they would send about job opportunities. Wow. I thought telling him I wanted to get myself together financially first that that would been understood. Guess it wasn’t. Interesting, very interesting.

Chantel at the front desk is AMAZING! She is super friendly and knows her stuff. Employees at “The Bistro” were very nice as well. All the ladies cleaning the rooms always spoke to us and always asked if we needed anything. I have stayed here twice so far and I won’t stay anywhere else when I come back. Great hotel!

AC blew in humid outside air in between cycles, but it was fine when switched fan to auto. Parking is a bit inconvenient, but does work when you are visiting UAB. Comfortable bed, helpful staff, mostly quiet room, just some street noise with all the ambulances going to UAB hospital.

Rooms are clean, hotel is nice and located right in the Downtown area and easily assessible to UAB Hospital. Nice meeting spaces.

Sadly, while waiting on my father-in-law to be taken back for a liver transplant, we finally made it to the hotel at 2:00 am. While waiting to be checked in, the desk clerk informed us that they normally provided military discounts. However, since they were almost to capacity, they stopped providing that service. We paid $200.00 to stay for 6 hours. As a hotel located near a major hospital, one would hope they’d be more accommodating during difficult times.

Clean rooms. Good price. Convenient to downtown Birmingham. This is the fifth year in a row that I've gone there for the Mercedes-Benz Marathon relay. The front desk staff is always accommodating and congenial.

Very nice. The check in process was difficult and then we ended up getting charged for our room twice. They took care of it but it was an inconvenience. Location is great. Lots of places to walk to eat.

Had to stay overnight due to a family member in the hospital. Room was nice, but the towels were less than desirable. Also, it was $10 a day to park in the garage, but it was $6 a day if you visited the hospital.

We recently had a family reunion and used this hotel as our home base. It was located close to most of our designated activity areas and even though it was close to the hospital, we weren't really bothered by ambulance or EMS sirens. There were a multitude of restaurants within close proximity for those not wishing to partake of the free complimentary breakfasts that were provided for us daily. The rooms were comfortable and the conference room were we met at the beginning and end of our days, were well stocked. The staff was extremely accommodating. We had a marvelous experience.

The hotel is located right next to UAB, so it is very convenient when visiting a guest in the hospital. The staff is amazing! I'm not sure of the receptionist's name, but her nails are just as amazing as her personality! :D The rooms are pretty decent. No microwaves in room, but there is a refrigerator. The shower is exceptional, also!

My wife and sister stayed there from 11.8 to 11.13.2017 for my pancreatic cancer surgery. I asked if they offered a discounted rate for this special need to stay as close to the UAB Hospital during this very difficult life changing experience and they simply offered some rates that were not discounted that much. Other cancer centers offer special lodging rates with nearby lodging. There was a small fridge but no microwave in room to help with controlling costs of meals. In summary, it appears the Marriott lodging is simply geared to the various business folks that stay there due to the shear sake of convenience calling on all the medical professional businesses while their expenses will be paid by their employers. On top of this I am a Reward member but due to my illness had let the reward points expire. Thanks Courtyard Marriot, UAB Hospital.

My parents and I stayed at Marriott UAB for my Dad to have a very risky surgery. Theft from our room and an unconcerned management added a lot of stress to an already difficult trip. After $400 of missing items there was no empathy or reimbursement offered. It was clear the theft occurred after we extended our stay and turned in two active key cards for two different key cards programmed for the longer stay. We left for the hospital, had a late dinner and the next morning noticed all the missing items. Management did not want to pursue the details of the loss so I filed a police report; however they just recommend seeking reimbursement from Marriott — who is not willing to discuss. Instead the Manager suggested I should have kept my perfume in their safe while staying there. Nor were they willing to view camera for who took our keys and if they were voided as stated. I am in property management and have traveled for 15 years without anything ever being stolen. I am shocked Marriott has no concern for finding the thief or making their customer happy. My family have been reward members, but no longer! Do not say unless you are willing to lock everything up at the desk!

Rooms are beautiful! Beds are so comfortable! Very clean!

There is no parking because they do not enforce parking rules. I watched several hospital employees drive their cars from the hotel parking lot. The business center has two pathetic workstations, one has no key board. The bistro service is pathetic.

Went here for work training in one of the conference rooms. What I saw of it was really nice. And they had snack and drinks in the lobby.

Nice and clean modern rooms. Better than the springhill suites. Bed is comfortable, AC is noisy, but that's not unusual. Breakfast is expensive, and no complimentary coffee downstairs, gotta pay.

It did not appear that the staff was overly concerned about making sure the guest had a quality experience. An example… the parking setup is dependent on getting validated stamps each time you enter and exit the facility. Upon leaving I asked the attendant to stamp my parking card only to have the card not stamped as well as it needed to be. Once I got to the parking meter I had to pay to exit the garage. When I returned to the front desk and asked the attendant about the situation I was told that there was nothing that she could do even though the misapplied stamp was her doing. These attendants struck me as disengaged and interested in doing more to avoid work than they were to provide customer service.

Nicely appointed spacious rooms. The Bistro served a robust breakfast and had a decent bar. The hotel is directly connected to UAB hospital making access very convenient.

Drove into Birmingham and got a greatest at this hotel without a reservation. Very clean and comfortable room. My mom had the room across the hall, which was perfect. Parking lot leaves something to be desired. Kinda hard to find a place to eat, most places are closed in the evening. We walked to the Pizitz Food Hall, which is quite possibly the best food court ever. I would stay here again if I'm ever in Birmingham.

Great if you have to stay close to UAB Hospital & still need to be able keep things going while away from the office. Staff was great & very helpful.

Not worth it… the hotel can do a lot better!
Housekeeping is rude and won't even bring you extra towels. Found hair in the bathroom sink and all over the tub, and the back of the toilet seat… room smelled like old urine!
Bottom line!
Only choose this place if it's your last and only option!

This hotel is our home away from home. It's near everything and beds will give you an amazing night sleep. Always clean & staff is great.

Was not impressed. Parking was in the parking garage at the hospital. Was not bad though because they validated the parking ticket and I did not have to pay for parking. Rooms were nice. No robes in room though. Also, went downstairs to buy coffee from their Bistro and it was closed in the middle of the day. We had to go to the hospital to get coffee. Also they had drinks and snacks available in the lobby but the prices were so high on them that it was not worth it. Got my room bill under the door and went to check out and they charged me $21 for room service that I did not get. Also a lady behind me came up and said they charged her double.

This hotel is poorly run. I was told that I would be given a rate of $94.00, which was the military rate, but yet when I checked out, there was floating charges added to my bill. When I presented the paperwork to the General Manager Assistant, it clearly showed the rate I was given, but she chose not to adjust my bill accordingly. While I was at the front desk trying to reconcile my bill, there was another hotel patron that was arguing about the same issue. There are many other nice hotel options that are close to UAB. It would be wise to make this your last choice. When you are already staying at the hotel, your room does not get cleaned until after 4 or 5 o'clock in the evening. Beware of staff taking advantage of you when they know you are a caregiver for a love one at the UAB Hospital. Also, the carpet is worn, bathrooms are not sufficiently cleaned and the room chiller was not working. I had to call maintenance and the one that he installed did not work much better than the first one. I have stayed at many Courtyard Marriotts and this is the worst I have seen worldwide. Shop around before booking at this hotel. Don't let the lobby fool you! When you get upstairs the rooms are very worn and is about the quality of a motel, not hotel.

Sticker shock. Over priced. Has a fridge but no microwave or coffee pot. I was also suprise that $199.00/night didn't include breakfast.

Great access to UAB Hospital. Right outside of busy ambulance bay and helicopter pad, so nice can be an issue for certain rooms. Rooms only have powdered creamer : (

I don't work for Courtyard — as obviously a couple of the reviewers must below. I stay in Courtyard hotels all across the country and usually choose them for their consistency. This one is very sub-par. 1. The hotel charges more for parking than if you just pay yourself at the garage. The garage is almost attached. You will be lucky to find parking in it as it is nearly completely full all the time. 2. The charges for the hotel are very high. Go elsewhere to buy things. 3. Poorly cleaned rooms. Our room was not cleaned the first day. Had to request it to be cleaned several times. The sheets had mascara stains on them and it made me question if fresh sheets had even been put on the hotel. 4. Staff: Staff is extremely rude and unpleasant. I had to go to the front desk three times to get one issue resolved. Kept being told it would be taken care of. We left and came back hours later to find nothing had been done. 5. Old: The hotel recently had a very poorly done update. Walls painted, etc. But the carpet is still worn. The walls are were poorly painted. The grout in the bathrooms was stained. Our thermostat was falling off the wall. 6. Hospital: The ONLY reason someone would stay here is if they were visiting a loved one in the attached hospital. This is the only selling point of the hotel. Do yourself a favor, stay a block or so away at a nicer facility. Avoid this poorly run, poorly maintained, motel.

I recently had a family member that has been at UAB Hospital for quite a while. They are many hotels in the area, however, if needing a hotel I highly recommend this hotel. You will not beat the convenience from UAB and other downtown attractions! An elevator goes directly to the hotel from UAB parking garage, and the staff make sure there is no loitering or unsafe conditions (although that is not so much under their control)! In fact, many police patrols will stop by occasionally and speak with the staff while outside in a friendly manner. Although convenient I am adamant about customer service, and will forsake convenience for cleanliness and customer service. The staff at UAB Marriott gets 100 stars! The offerings for food and drink are adequately priced and vary from Starbucks to meals to alcohol offerings in the Bistro! The staff from housekeeping to the clerks are a pleasure and always professional and attentive! From the point of check in (not knowing how long I would be there) all of the staff knew my name on the very first night! I want to personally thank the housekeeping services, Tammy, Shawn, Kendrea, Johnathon, Tori, Lisa, Yvonne, and Patricia for their outstanding care and customer service! I hope I did not forget anyone because I have not encountered any subpar staff or treatment. I am not a difficult customer, but I have high expectations. If you are the same — this is the place for you!

My daughter and I have stayed at this hotel twice already this year and honestly it's the BEST experience we have ever had at any hotel. The staff is impeccable, friendliest people EVER. Our room has always been clean even before expected. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Greatest thing, I left my camera and they actually called to say that they had it at the front desk for me to pick up OR they could mail it if I had already left town. AMAZING! Someone could have EASILY taken it, I would not have know until I got home so again, I'd highly recommend a stay here. If you do plan to enter and exit the garage often in one day, you can have the front desk stamp your ticket for a one time $10 fee, or choose to pay $6 per day. I have zero complaints about our stays and will stay again if we are in the Birmingham area.

Nice people. Outstanding room and service from staff. UAB Medical facilities are monstrous and the staff at the UAB Marriott were extremely helpful about giving me directions to navigate the UAB medical complex. I parked in the deck, slept, ate at the excellent Bistro restaurant at the Marriott and never had to drive again during my stay. If you or family have business or medical treatment needs in the UAB medical complex, you need to stay at this place. You won't be disappointed. I know, I'll be back. Bob.

Had 5 rooms reserved months ago for 2 different nights. At 3 pm one of our 5 rooms were cleaned and ready. Our 2nd day, two of our 5 rooms were not cleaned. Who is responsible to check on this? When we asked, (twice during that day) they had told us, "oh the girl hasn't gotten to your floor yet. " We had to ask for clean towels for our room. : (Hard to believe for a Marriott.

I have been here several times, and I never had a problem. But what I noticed was this. They charge for parking, $10 a day or 24 hrs. I checked in at 7pm and checked out next morning and when I put the parking ticket in the machine it said, amout $6. If it isnt enough to pay high dollar for a room, then hit you with a parking fee and dont tell you that if you dont plan to be there long it is cheaper to pay parking yourself. I just naggs at me.
