Worst experience ever. GM is rude and has no respect for Americans. They charged my card almost $900 for a $145 night stay. I called Expedia and he was rude to them as well. Taking it to corporate level. Shut it down or change owners.

Service was good. I was not overly impressed by the hotel itself. There was an unusual smell in the first floor of the hotel and our room had a fairly present musty smell. There were other smaller things about the room I notice, but for the price and the overnight stay it was an average hotel. I wouldn't recommend for longer term stays.

Very comfortable and quiet. Convenient to UAB hospital. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Very happy with our stay.

My rating on this hotel is based primarily on the actions of the manager. I had booked a handicap accessible room for 1 night. However the only thing accessible was the door to the room. The bathroom was so small you had to step to the side of the toilet in order to close the door. When I returned to the front desk the clerk was very nice but the manager wanted to know why I needed a bigger bathroom. I guess he thought I used an electric wheelchair for fun. In the second room I was given the beds were so high you needed a step stool. Again what part of handicap accessible don't you understand. In the end the charges to my credit card were cancelled and I found a room at the Holiday Inn down the street. For everyone else this hotel is nice. The rooms were clean and the 2 ladies at the front desk were very friendly. Had the manager kept to himself my rating would have been higher.

Very nice place. Always have liked country inns hotels. Never had a problem. Very nice staff and very clean. Comfortable beds and great continental breakfast. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Clean, nice room. Workout room was just ok. Hot tub and pool are fine. Decent breakfast. Little pricey.

Very nice beds are comfy pillows are so soft they are feather pillows also the pool and hot tub are so nice really enjoyed our stay.

Nice clean hotel, bed very comfortable, A. C. On point. Good breakfast for continental. They need to increase the size of the cups, so you don't have to make a 2nd trip for juice. But overall it a great hotel.

Nice property, out of the way of most of the fray of Birmingham. Very quiet with polite staff, extra clean rooms and good cable TV service.

It was a very nice visit I just wish they would have been more accessible to my daughter's need, she needed a shower chair or wheelchair to get to the room.

Everything clean and up to standard; no problem with early checkout. Only thing missing is a comfy recliner — good boss chair but not perfect for relaxing.

Would not stay here again. We had to wait for our room to be ready, even though we got there at 330. The room was nothing special. It lacked quite a bit in the cleanliness dept. Several stains, on the phone, the curtains etc. Breakfast was horrible. Chopped ham, eggs, and potatoes all looking a little off in color. The pancakes were ok.

Do not stay here. The carpet was stained and dirty. The fan on the air conditioner wasn't working correctly. The Wi-Fi wouldn't work, my phone showed a weak signal. When we checked out and told them about the issues, he acted like he didn't understand English. The worst part was it was so noisy. We could hear everything in the rooms around us.

Half eaten food in the fridge and torn sofa unsatisfactory, I'm not sitting on that sofa After getting settled the fire alarm went off, no fire thankfully. It was a malfunctioning sprinkler system. Water flooded the front lobby.

I'd give 4-5 stars except for the cigarette butt and loose tobacco under the pillow on the made-up bed in my non-smoking room. Nobody there seemed interested. No responsible manager available.

HATED it, evacuated from Tampa Bay during Hurricane Irma — after driving all day and all nite, finally getting to the hotel at 9pm, Feeling lucky we found a hotel with a room — EVERY hotel in the area was full. We brought our 2 beagles and my 2 year old son, only to find out they were NOT waving the no pet accommodations like every other hotel we talked to (and later stayed in) was doing. They didn't even have our payment information because it was required (? ) at the time of reservation — only to swipe my mother's debit card and THEN refuse to refund even though they were not going to accommodate all of us. We should "find a local shelter" for the dogs. Then argued with my mother about keeping the receipt and non refund information. Needless to say we were very close to sleeping in our truck with the dogs, my young son, and all of our things in a Lowes parking lot next door. Very very very poor customer service and no compassion towards evacuees during a time of need unlike everyone else we met in Alabama. I would imagine they are quite empty based off their many 1 star reviews and other hotel competition. Steer clear! The Hilton brand hotels make this place look like a joke.

Great hotel. Room was okay-sized. Breakfast was decent. Great location. Not too many people were there at the time of my stay.

Why no 0 star? Writing this as brief as I can. As we majority know hotels are busy with the hurricane mandatory evacs. After 17 hours of driving our family was EXHAUSTED. We do admit we were rushed in booking to have our family escape in time. We over booked the room. Nevertheless manager was quick to say no can do you have to leave. No more rooms were available, I would have been HAPPY to pay double to just not drive anymore. All booked. We even called corporate brainstorm an idea of use the room under their 4 person policy to use for 1 of the 3 nights and I would have let them keep my 1night stay just to clear our heads and figure out where to go next. We were sitting in the parking lot for hours before having to drive another 2 hours to even get a hotel. Shame on this hotel, and respectfully not because of even their policy but how bitter they were. I would never treat a customer like that in my business. Never would I ever recommend any family or friends spend a cent here. *Admin or owner do not contact me to rectify situation as I am already in another state STILL driving to get some much needed rest… **** And the response to the owner below it was 8 people not 9. I understand the fire regulation I do. I was upset the unwillingness to compromise anything in our florida State of emergency.

The hotel was nice and clean, but the ppl staying above us was VERY LOUD! We didn't sleep at all the two nights we stayed there. After we complained both nights and asked the front desk very nicely if they could ask the ppl to quiet down, the response we got was… "Oh its just a bunch of kids" I understand that, but when you pay 220$ you expect to get some sleep! We will not be back!

Terrible experience here. First they charged us twice for our room. Was resolved but there was a hold on card by bank until the following Monday. At one point we came downstairs to get an extra pillow, and the late night clerk was crying behind the front desk and giving details about his relationship (in turmoil apparently). TMI, Just want a pillow please. Overall weird moment there. THEN we were falsely accused by the GM of smoking in our room upon checkout. (From looking at other reviews on here we are not the only ones who were accused of this on our stay) We were Harassed and GM acted in an unprofessional manner while we tried to resolve the issue with him. (Looking at phone, unwilling to speak to us, making sarcastic comments). We weren't charged (DUH. Because we never smoked in there), but his tone and manner really gave us an unpleasant experience for the rest of Our vacation. Not the southern hospitality we were looking for. Overall would NOT recommend.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights with four friends and we had plenty of room in our double queen room and we used the foldout couch so nobody had to sleep on the floor. The gratis breakfast was pretty good as well and the hot food was a little different both mornings, with scrambled eggs, Biscuits, and bacon one morning, and diced ham, home fries, and scrambled eggs again. They also plenty of cold breakfast makings, and waffle maker, which worked quite well. For drinks they a juice dispenser with several juices including orange and apple, as well water, a milk dispenser with 2% and skim milk, and also coffee. There are plenty of food places nearby to eat at, and a Walmart across Lakeshore parkway for most needs. My friends and I all had a good experience at the hotel, and would probably stay there if we're in Birmingham again.

One of the worst experiences I've had staying at a hotel. The "front desk manager" has no clue what customer service or accommodation means. The self serve laundry was out of service. The towels were thin and rougher than sandpaper. And the breakfast was mediocre at best. The bagels were hard and inedible. The biscuits were crumbly and gross. We checked in at 6:30AM — — after driving all night. We attempted to check out at 12:15PM (check out is 12) — — and were charged for another night. The night desk clerk was the only redeeming quality of our stay. He was extremely nice and accommodating.

The man that checked us in was very nice, but the woman we dealt with later was less than accommodating. She charged us for another night because we were 12 minutes late checking out. Keep in mind that we checked in at 6:30am and only stayed until noon — — perfectly willing to pay for one night. But she charged us for another night anyway. The washer was broken. The towels were thin and extremely rough. We will be looking for a Fairfield Inn in the future. Country Inn has lost our business.

Very clean. Comfortable beds. Pleasant staff. Only there one night but will definitely stay again on next visit to Birmingham.

Air conditioner was off when I came into the room so it took a couple of hours for the room to get to a comfortable temperature. The "make your own waffles" tasted funny. The staff was very nice but weren't always at the front desk. I'd stay here again if I had to but most likely would avoid it.

This was not the nicest Country Inn and Suites I have stayed in. The sheets had a few small stains on them, the AC was loud and the breakfast was not nearly as good as what I have had at other locations. Very friendly employees though.

I mean the lobby would literally be like eighty two degrees at all times but our room would be like 65 so the hotel does not know what they are doing.

My husband, three young children, and I arrived exhausted around 1:00am at the Country Inn & Suites in Birmingham, AL after driving all day. Our room was disgusting. The floors had a white powdery substance on them, there was a large section of black mold on the wall and shower, an empty beer can on the floor and boogers wiped on the wall. We were so tired so we decided to deal with it in the morning at check out. We checked the beds to make sure there weren't any bed bugs and went to sleep. At checkout the foreign man at the counter refused to compensate us after hearing about the room and seeing the pictures we took. He said that the issues were MINOR. Really?! I have to disagree. We didn't even shower because of the nasty mold nor could any of us walk barefoot on the floors because of the mystery white substance. I felt like we paid $125 to sleep at a college frat house. Very nasty. I told him I would post a review online and his response was "I will take it down. " How professional! Try all you may sir, but I will post this everywhere including social media, if it means saving another family from having to stay in this filth. The breakfast was also nothing to speak of. The man did end up giving us $10 off after much frustration. $10. Wow. Not enough to keep me from giving this hotel a big thumbs down review. I would not recommend this hotel chain at all and will never ever stay at another Country Inn and Suites.

The refrigerator didn't work… all of our food went to waste…! As we left for the nascar race…! Tried to tell the front desk… they didn't care at all. Then the next morning the hotel didn't have any food for the "Free" breakfast! Nothing they said the lady never showed up to make it! So we ended up going to McDonald's! They weren't the nicest people around. Check around for other hotels and don't do what I did… I didn't read the reviews! And I should have! Stay away…! Or you will be sorry… this hotel is terrible!

I Stayed Twice In One Week Split Between Two Different Days For a Business Trip. Both Times The Hotel Seemed Clean Although I Noticed A lot Of Poorly Maintained Things Such as Paint Touched Up Patches On Wall, Broken toilet seat, and The Shower Starting To peel and Stain. However, Pricing Wasn't Bad, Very Quiet And Not To Busy Of A Place So I Was Able To Relax. My Biggest Issue Was A Charge On My Credit Card For Pillows They Seem To Believe I Took on First Visit. No One Bothered To Check Cameras Or Take The Time To Look Into this Issue When I Called In Regards To It. Very Poor Customer Experience Towards This Matter. So For This Reason I Do Not Trust This Hotel And Will No Longer Give My Business.

Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere! My family and I average 8-10 weekends a year in hotels for the past six years. Things don't always go perfect, but its in how they get handled that makes all the difference. I've been in management professionally for 14 years, I've seen my fair share of legitimate issues and am way more understanding than the general public because of it. I have never given anywhere or anyone a bad review in my life before today. That being said, here's our experience: We check in shortly after midnight and have our first issue right off the bat. There are 6 people in my room (2 adults, 4 children) so you can imagine the luggage. I ask for a luggage cart, the response "they should be right there around the corner and point" to which I reply "yes, I saw the space, but there are non available" At this point, no big deal, it happens, but the response looking back was the first tip at their "management" skills "Oh, well, we are busy and we can't run around chasing carts all day! " "Looks like there is one on the 3rd floor, but I don't see any others in the cameras". We booked a total of (3) rooms and had (2) other families with us, and made due with the one cart I retrieved from the 3rd floor. We get to our room and its a King bed and a chair, that's it. At this point its 1:30am (the single cart really put us behind between the (3) parties) I call down to front Desk and ask why I'm in a king when I booked a double bed?

The experience was terrible! Their breakfast was very bad and their drink machine didn't work. When I lost my room card and went to get another one, the man didn't even ask for identification, he just gave it to me. Plus, the sheets for the couch bed aren't in the room and it gives no notice to go downstairs for sheets. Another thing is that there is one very rude lady who was quite disrespectful to my daughter and her friends. She would stalk them in the halls and in the cameras and talk to them rudely. Very bad experience, 1 star rating!

Nice courteous staff, good fresh breakfast. Nice when you come to Bham for hospital to have one less thing to worry about. I have seen the other reviews and it seems to me they are a bunch of entitled whiners.

Worst Country Inn we have ever stayed at! After we checked in we were put in room 407 and it had a bug in the bedroom we were then switched to room 413 there was nail polish all over the coffee table the bathroom faucet does not work properly and the TV screen in the living room is adjusted so that you cannot see the whole picture. I specifically chose this hotel because it had an outdoor pool and hot tub. When we arrived at the pool area I was so disappointed to see that the hot tub jets weren't working! We put our stuff on the table by the pool and when my husband tried to raise the umbrella it was broken and hit him in the head. We informed the front desk clerk and she said she would have the hot tub fixed the next day. I asked her this morning about it and she said it would not be fixed. When my husband addressed all these issues with the owner, he said they were minor issues and he was NOT adjusting our rate or issuing a refund. Bad rooms, bad service, TERRIBLE management and ownership!

I was pleasantly surprised! This hotel is very reasonable and VERY clean! I recommend them and will stay with them agsin when I have another business trip to Birmingham! 4 stars for me! Would have given 5 but my Reservation was mixed up otherwise GREAT experience :)

This hotel looks expensive but isn't. No problems whatsoever. Can't complain.

The stay was good. Room smelled funny. Overall was ok until check out. We had a question about the bill. Front desk acted like he couldn't speak English told us to call back.

While not luxurious by any means, this hotel was considerably better than other hotels in the same price range that I've visited. Clean room (with new furniture and fixtures), comfy bed, hot shower, nice work desk, free Wi-Fi, and a free breakfast a bit better than the standard cold Continental Breakfast. It was a fairly standard Hilton or Marriott experience at Comfort Inn pricing. Quite impressive for a hotel next to a Lowe's.

I would never stay at this place ever again. Wow, What a mess.! Seems like bunch of disgruntled staff. Went to where they serve breakfast to grab a cup of coffee @ 6.03b AM, met a lady (angry) and she asked me what was I looking for? I said good morning and I asked for some coffee and she reluctantly pointed to the corner of the room and said there it is (very rude), I managed to pour me some coffee (old) and heard angry voice telling me where the trash can is and then was told I need to leave the room because they are not ready to serve breakfast yet. I asked the lady in the most profound manner the reason why she is so rude and angry with me. They lady threw her hands in the air and asked me to leave one more time and said dont have time for me and walked away. There is no excuse for anyone to be subject to such a harsh treatment by a hotel employee. I walked to the front desk and nicely asked the lady why was I subject to such a harsh treatment and she said well we are not ready for breakfast yet but I am sorry for her attitude. I left my coffee on the counter and said this not acceptable behavior and left the lobby got in my car and drove back to Huntsville. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There is something seriously wrong with that place. I am in management and deal with public on daily basis and lord never been treated this poorly ever. I do travel a lot and I do have a reservation for July the 7th.

Nice hotel, very clean, great location. As of 8/2013, there is one problem: their internet service is terrible! I've reported it a number of times and am always told that it's working as it should. For a traveling business person, it's unacceptable.

This place was clean I enjoyed my stay.

The hotel added a $250.00 charge on my credit card for a smoking fee even though no one smoked in the hotel room. I have attempted to talk with the owner several times, but he refuses to take my calls and to return my calls. I have contacted the corporate office and they state that they cannot make him do anything since he is a franchisee. I stayed at several Country Inn and Suites over the last year (over 100 nights), and they were all very nice and professional except for this one. You also need to check the food before you eat it at this hotel because we got into some rotten fruit.

I would definitely recommend a stay here. It is located a little far back relative to many other hotels on the same street, but we were very happy we chose the Country Inn. The rooms are nice and clean, and the price is right. We had special accommodations for our stay and all of our expectations were met. Full hot breakfast in the morning, and friendly staff. Everything was great.
