I felt I needed to share my husband's recent experience with the New Tulbagh Hotel. After being picked up on Eid, as he needed to return to work, he had to get the covid 19 test done and self isolate in the hotel mentioned above. Not being able to come home is one stress, then not being able to eat is another as the kitchen is not halaal and when I called to find out where they are getting the halaal meals? the response was " I dont know, I dont know what they do here during the day". I then asked if it was ok for me to send packaged meals and they agreed. On our daily video chats, the plates were never cleared from the previous day and the one morning my husband was given bacon and eggs for breakfast. Upon arrival he also had to share a room with another colleague. What nightmare! Also there was no social distancing in the foyer as the men arrived and later it was revealed that there was a positive covid 19 case and the men had to get tested again. So glad it is over and that he is safe and Corona free.

Great staff, clean and affordable.

Central, neat rooms, affordable, very welcoming and a magnificent breakfast. One to book for a stay in the city centre!

Clean place to stay and people are friendly.

We had a lovely stay at the new Tulbagh Hotel which was marred by their 'secure parking'. We paid an additional fee of R70 to park our vehicle in 'secure parking' and discovered the next morning that all four of the hub caps was stolen off our car rental. We were charged a hefty replacement fee and administration free by the car rental company for this and were dismayed by the hotel and security company's reaction that "we parked there at our own risk", even though the hote…l affirmed that this has happened to other guests before, when we complained initially. If you know that this is happening to cars parked 'safely' then do not offer this as 'safe parking' it is an untruth and a lie. This is absolutely terrible. If you do stay at this hotel, I implore you to park somewhere else, it's not safe to leave your vehicle in their parking area. Your car might be vandalised and you may loose your possessions and the possibility is strong that you may have your car stolen. This hotel does NOT offer safe parking. Don't park there!

Great breakfast, Wi-Fi and clean rooms. Above all, friendly staff and kudos to Vuyo!

Why are people always negetive about hotels and lodges instead of help to upgrade the place just give your meaning to inprove the place like you must do this or that and give a better feedback and rate them better not to put them off if we tell then what we think they must do then we help them to upgrade the place thats all for its good if theres anything that I can help to improve I will do so but not insult you.

Bad but not as bad as the capetonian hotel.

It wasn't what we expected at all. We paid for an executive suite we were placed in a room with two single beds and a broken or torn lampshade. When we questioned it we were told that the room wasn't ready and the ladies never came however the rooms were never available and was undergoing a revamp. The next day we asked again what's the story we being charged for an executive suite and all they could say was sorry they informed booking. Com that the rooms weren't available and they never took it off not making it available for when people book. We were then told they could relocate us to their other hotel however parking would be in the road. We were then offered to be moved to a family room or a double room however the double room was then booked. We were told we could get secure parking at a cost of R70p/n only to realise that the secure parking is only during the day and not during the evening. It was an experience that I wish never to experience again.

The venue is central and clean. We were allpwed to come with addotional deco items for our dinner gala event. The parking is a stress, bar staff good, Naomi is very helpful… prices for alcohol are sky high as the bar staff wants to make money on you. We were given 3 different prices of the same bottle of champagne. Our main meal was horrible and disappointing. And it was called Buffet but about 15 of our 40 guest did not get meat… because I was told the counted the me at and they thought it was going to be enough. Manager and door / security guy were very arrogant, impatient and with attitude. At some point hands were high up…

The rooms were nice and spacious. Breakfast hall was lovely.

Good value for money The area is not Massomo but it is convenient to the waterfront 20 min walk and to Long Street 5 min walk. Breakfast OK. The room was very clean.

For people in a hurry Yes but for long stays BOF, very welcoming staff anyway.
The room was not too bad, the bathroom should have been better than that.
The breakfast and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is a hidden gem. The entrance is a bit hard to find but once you enter you really don't want to leave. Nevertheless, the hotel is centrally situated and has many popular landmarks surrounding it. The staff is super friendly and inviting. They are always willing to go the extra mile. The rooms are neat and spacious with a gorgeous view of the town area. Definitely going back.

It is an ok place. There isn't a fridge in the room and no parking even if you pay for it. Breakfast is fairly simple, nothing out of this world. For the rate you pay though, its what you can expect. The hotel is 5mins from V&A waterfront and 15mins from Table Mountain.

Not impressed with the state of cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms. The lack of formal parking for guests was a huge turn off. Was only informed upon checking out of the ridiculous bill for Parking on the street.

The place is very central. The room does not have refrigerator to store drinks. The cleaning staff, we "cleaned" the merchandise we left in bags and we had bought to eat. When we got back there was nothing left! If you are staying at this hotel, do not leave anything handy, keep everything and under lock and key.

Parking is terrible. Staff are awesome. To park proved to be the biggest challenge and the area smelled of urine.

Centrally located. Safe and secure. Great FOH staff.

Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast has a variety and the restuarant has a few options as well. Only problems I have is that the lift makes a lot of noise, especially at night and there was no fridge in our room.

Location is very central and good value for money. The rooms has everything that one requires for a stay-over in Cape Town. You will however have to sort out parking for your car. (Best to Uber) They make you pay R70 for the day when you arrive. But when you leave and return later that night there is no parking available and no one to help.

It's an old building but it's homely. The breakfast is not that exciting after the second day. It's an alright alternative.

Simple hotel in the center of Cape Town. Cozy bar with good beer. Within walking distance of Waterfront (15 minutes) and Longstreet. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there is plenty to get in the area.

Absolutely rubbish. Had to wait way beyond the 2pm time to check in. Rooms very dirty. Only cleaned way after 4 in the afternoon. Went for breakfast at 8h30 and was told there is no more breakfast even though I had paid for it. Linen no changed and filthy. One of the worst hotels I have been to.

This hotel is centrally located in the city of Cape Town it offers parking and it is very close to the public bus stations. The hotel is old and some of it is being upgraded. The hotel does offer free Wi-Fi although you can expext slow speeds. The breakfast served in the mornings is below average I did not enjoy it at all. From the hotel the waterfront and other locations and attractions are within walking distance.

The New Tulbagh Hotel is like always a great overnight facility with that extra comfort of being home away from home. I really enjoy the hospitality and nice variety of food to choose from. Luxury apartments and good client service management.

Well… if you like paying “parking charges” to a scruffy looking indigenous person without any ticket… go here. If you like seeing dead rats on the balcony outside your windows… stay here… if you like paying top rate for a mediocre pushed up guest house… stay here…

The food is excellent… the service second to none… and nothing is too much trouble for the staff… It’s up to you guys… Would WE stay here again… possibly… if we had no where else to go… which we DO have this year…

Will not recommend this hotel at all. Unsafe, unfriendly staff and torn bedsheets. The lift is extremely noisy.

This is a very dated hotel, with rotting cupboards, leaking shower, broken coffee maker… The kitchen had no cups, nothing but a broken coffee maker and a slanted fridge due to rotting cupboard. This was shocking considering South Africa is experiencing droughts. TV wasn't working either.

The hotel was horrible. So unclean. So unprofessional. If there was a negative star I would give it. It smells like a dump. Horrible view.

Slept on a skew bed, back is still killing me, pillows not comfortable, ended up sleeping on the scatter cushion, linen not 100% clean. Cleaning staff cleaned room half only made up beds, no vacuuming, no cleaning out of bins or proper cleaning of toilets. Lifts waked us up early morning which was very annoying, staff promised to put it off but did not. Showered in cold water. The only thing that was nice was there buffet breakfast. Cold showers, really not worth it for the price.

This is supposedly a hotel for business travelers, so you'd think it would have the basics. My first morning there was ALMOST no hot water for the shower. Management told me they would look into it. They must have, because the next day there was NO hot water. The elevators do not meet US code. The sign says they can hold 5 people, when they can barely fit in 3. They're the old-fashioned kind where you have to pull open an exterior door to get in. Once you're inside, the interior wooden doors don't close fully and the elevator doesn't always arrive plumb with the floor. Our last night there was a blackout, so we had to climb the stairs. Since the hotel supplied no flashlights, it's lucky there's an atrium so we had some outside light. The so-called satellite TV offered fewer channels than the airbnb we were in before, and the hotel is in a charmless, dead part of the city at night. On the plus side, the bathroom was huge, the staff was friendly (especially Primrose at the breakfast buffet), the breakfasts were good, and aside from the cold showers, the room was comfortable.

Apart from the cold showers it was fantastic. Great value and centrally located.

We have stayed at The New Tulbagh Hotel on 3 occasions when we have worked at certain events at the CTICC. We have always found the staff friendly, efficient and extremely helpful. Rooms have always been clean and neat. Free Wifi definitely helps, and when my phone would not connect, the receptionist knew exactly what to do and was more than willing to help. Breakfast is good. The only thing was when I asked for 2x bottles of 1.5L water for our room since CPT water is not that safe to drink at the moment, I was not made aware of the price, and on check-out, we received a bill of R90 for the 3L of still water. We found this rather extreme, but other than that, our stay is always a pleasant one! :)

The decor of the hotel is very beautiful. Each floor has a beautiful sitting area and it's very comfortable however the staff are not that friendly and do not create a comfortable feeling. It would be a much better hotel if they have more security on windows on the 1st floor and if staff make you feel more like a guest.

This hotel is lovely! The people were incredibly kind and called to make sure that we were enjoying our room. The rooms were clean and stylish for a wonderful price. The breakfast was one of our favorites in Cape Town and was free! highly recommend.

The rooms were clean and the staff were extremely friendly. The location of the hotel is quite convenient to get to VA Waterfront and the bars on Long Street. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet and always found the staff to be accommodating to my requests. I recommend the roti stand behind the hotel. The paratha roti's were hand made and extremely cheap.

Don't go there! 500$ have been stolen from my luggage by the room service and when we checked the cameras we knew who were in the room but the manager refused to take any action and told me "you might spent them somewhere and you forgot"! at the same time someone stole an IPad from one of my friends luggage and the manager did noting also!

We stayed there for five nights, everything seemed fine at first, till our last day in the hotel. On our last day in the hotel, when I came back to my room at around 3 pm, I found out that, they stole my pocket, which was in my luggage bag, my pocket had a considerable amount of dollars! the pocket was obvious from day one, so I believe whoever did this from the room service, purposely waited till my very last day to steal the money, seeing that we were leaving on the same day at night. The hotel DIDNT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! all what they cared about, that no one from their visitors to hear about that incident. If they care so much about their reputation, I believe they should start with some trustworthy staff! and I am 100% sure it got stolen from the hotel, because I never get out with this pocket. The staff was really unhelpful, and I got back to my country, and that was a 3-4 days ago, and they still didnt get back to me! also, when we got back, my friend found out that they stole money from his luggage too! which in order for some one to find has to search all over the luggage to find it! which means the room service search in your stuff! DONT STAY THERE BY ANY MEANS! THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY, AND RUIN YOUR BEAUTIFUL STAY AT CAPETOWN! capetown is really really beautiful, dont spoil it by staying at such an untrustworthy hotel! on a side note, the amount of money stolen was a huuugee amouuunt!

Ideal place to stay in Cape Town. Central, confortable and not too expensive.

Didn't want to leave. Had became home away from home in a week of staying there, as the staff (from the kitchen staff to the front desk, call you by name) welcome you like a long lost family member! Not one of the staff stick to "job titles" with each one doing everything. Brilliant, warm, cosy and all round worth it.

I must say that I am very surprised by The "New"Tulbagh Hotel, new being of course as it was called just Tulbagh Hotel previously and clearly has gone through some changes, fortunately and very pleasing, thank you! The room is spacious and we got an excellent rate for the family room which has two single beds, one double and a nook area in the corner which we have used for babies camp cot. Across the room is a work desk mounted against wall which you can use for laptop, doing make up and has a plasma TV on, yes, more than enough room for everyone and they even have two nice and comfy chairs to use. There is also a smaller cabinet next to the desk with coffe/tea and kettle. The great part of this suite is that there are more than enough power points to go around and you will not struggle to find a free one as well as power points for your shaver/hair dryer by the desk as well as in bathroom. The bathroom does not have a bath however the shower and bathroom is very large and the shower is raised with a small lip around the base which fills with water when you shower as the pressure is excellent. We thought this was pretty handy as we use it to bath our little one who thinks it is so much fun splashing around! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and seems like everyone gives a lending hand as we have had the chef take away some dirty dishes to the front desk bringing us our ordered cokes!
