Had issue with credit card, that could have been handled abit more professionally. But overall would definitely recommend.

Very tired, needs attention to detail… the bad : multiple chunks taken out of table outside, tear in the fabric of the lounge sofa, cracked and mouldy skirting around the bath/shower, room was very dark lights have to be on all the time (i assume to the height of the fence — room 5), hairdryer and basin in bathroom out of the 1970s Good points: Comfortable bed, well stocked kitchenette, appreciated the electric blankets and sky tv. Very friendly management, easy check in experience, cleaner even went out of way to bring in extra milk to my father who was staying in room 4 when we were in his room prior to checkin. Giving the location it was surprisingly quiet in reference to road noise Overall good for a 1 or 2 night stay if a couple of grand each room was put in this would be a top notch facility. I would consider a stay again.

Very nice and incredibly helpful staff. Great place to get a good sleep. Very clean. Rooms have a little fridge, mugs, plates and cutlery. Definitely would recommend.

Nothing fancy, but welcoming place to stay. Laundry and cooking facilities. Management is always helpful.

My partner and I stayed here for a week (young couple) and well pay cheap you get cheap. Rooms were amazingly clean though. I didn't like the fact that we had to keep quiet. Bathroom is amazing, we had a room with a spa pool and that was a great first experience.

Very rundown, dirty, looks like it has had no maintenance done for years. Fleas in the bed which was disgusting. Was moved rooms but had a poor nights sleep due to this experience.

Great place would come back again and was very clean.

We got this place sorta last minute and relatively cheap so it's pay for what you get really. The place was a little run down, still clean though. Just really really hot in summer cuz the ceiling fan didnt help much. But other than that size was decent, service was great, and location really close to city centre.

Standard kind of motel, nothing very special about it but our room was clean and tidy, if a little stuffy. Plenty of info at reception about things to do in the area. On-site parking is handy, but I'm not sure if there's actually a space for every room, since ours was right in the corner — so get in quick!

Reasonably tidy and affordable. A bit of a walk to town but ok. Get a rear room as the highway may be noisy. Government guests are a slippery slope for motels atm.

Love staying there when we go up those ways.

Absolutely loved my stay ar BKs Pohutukawa! Awesome service, clean rooms and I loved the Northland sun! Breakfast was delicious!

My family of five loved staying here. We will stay again when we visit family in Whangarei. It is close to town by car with plenty of parking. The rooms are modern, tastefully decorated, spacious and very clean. The squeaky clean kitchen in the suite, we stayed in, was fully equipped and enjoyable to use. We enjoyed our stay especially as our breakfast orders were prepared to perfection. It is not easy to get a hot, yet deliciously runny, soft poached egg in a motel room service and yet they managed effortlessly. The modern, and scrupulously clean, bathroom was luxurious. And all for a reasonable price. The staff, from cleaners to owners were all very friendly and accommodating. I recommend anyone wanting a nice place to stay to give Pohutakawa Lodge a try. You will be rewarded with comfort and service.
