Great Hotel. Great Views, Super Room.

I like this place very much. Everything are very satisfied to me. Food, ambience are good. Staff friendliness still has room for improvement.

Very nice Service, good food, nice meeting rooms, with a pleasant climate and also during the break, has the opportunity to go into the garden; Topp.

This is great! Exceeded all expectations!

Interesting building but it would have been better to visit it and then move to a hotel with air-conditioning. Our third floor room was like an oven. Maybe it would be perfect in the winter, as the building seems to be very efficient at keeping the heat, but I recommend avoiding in the summer months. This may once have been a 5 star hotel but the rooms are now 30 years out of date. I don't need a loudspeaker in the bathroom, I need a shower that doesn't scald me and an ambient temperature lower than 35 degrees to sleep in. When I called reception, the guy was apologetic but could only offer me a small fan (to push the warm air around the room? ) Very disappointing.

This is the most difficult review that I have ever written. 5 Stars: the Hotel im Wasserturm is the most beautiful and unique hotel that I have ever visited. Certainly others hotels have more grandeur and Display more classically understood luxury, that this hotel chooses not to exhibit, but no hotel is more unique, or more visually compelling than this one. Our Maisonette room was well apportioned, clean, and comfortable. The room has wonderful design features such as marble floors and rooms which can be separated from each other via sliding doors. Upon hearing of a situation with the room which was unacceptable, (to be addressed below) the front desk took action which went beyond expectation to correct the issue and for that, the staff which corrected the issue deserves to be praised. The staff member patiently listened to my concerns and acknowledged them, and made efforts to correct them. I was grateful to truly be heard. 0 Stars: The Maisonette room was unbearably hot. The room was at least 40 C with no climate control. In the upstairs bedroom, there was only a small Ventilator that pushed as much air as a one winged gnat. Regardless of the power of the fan, no fan could have corrected the fact that in the bedroom, the only air that gets circulated is hot air. When we brought up our concerns to the front desk, the staff on duty had 0 sympathy and could not assist in changing rooms nor could promise to help in getting a functioning fan.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel! Would highly recommend! What a cool hotel — a former water tower, great views of the city, and a perfect location close to the river, city center, and the south of Cologne. Rooms on the 8th floor have access to a wrap-around balcony; it's not private, but being able to walk around the full circumference of the tower is definitely worth sharing access with the other rooms on the floor. The Comfort Double room has a great walk-in shower and refreshing, cool tile floors (this is a comfort for those trying to escape the city heat! ). The hotel is also right by Agrippabad — perfect place for a swim. The hotel has its own sauna as well; it's small, but it was empty when we used it and free for hotel guests (note for international guests, it is textile-free, no swimsuits! ). You can also request bathrobes. The staff is friendly and we were also told we could use the sauna after we had checked out. The only thing we thought a little strange was that the bed and bathroom were prepared for one person instead of two. We asked about that and were told the extras were in the closest. Overall, superb stay!

You will either live or hate this place because of its querky design. Great service and food but the rooms take a bit of getting used to.

Unusual design of a hotel which in my opinion doesn't come off. The rooms are disjointed and confusing and the bedroom and bathroom on different floors is not a good idea but I accept some people will like it and some won't. On a hot day and night in Cologne, a room without air conditioning also doesn't work for me with no win now in the bedroom.
Having said that, the service was impeccable and the breakfast ranks amongst the best I have had.

An extravagant and quite good hotel in the quiet centre of Cologne. There is its own underground parking (25/day with jack-service), a type restaurant (with a Michelin star) and a mini-park in the patio. There are interesting two-level rooms with exits to both floors and entertaining decorations" "inscribed" in the unusual circumference of the tower layout. To the Rhine — 10 minutes of leisurely gait.

Already in several 5* hotels, this hotel does not condo by a 5* standard.
At the check-in we dragged ourselves in two with 4 pieces of luggage, while at the reception 3 people played around on their fingers. Statement at the reception: "Your room is on the 8th floor, elevators are left there at the back. "
The room was very nice and spacious at first, but it took us a long time to find the well-hidden and tiny safe. However, this does not work with pin code, but with keys (like the room door also — very old-fashioned). However, we did not receive a suitable key or a note at the reception.
The balcony of the room is accessible from the entire floor. You can take a tour of all the rooms. It's not really great, but we could live with it…
Well, yes… now we were looking forward to a cool beer from the minibar, but it was empty. Booking via HRS advertises that the minibar is included…
At check-out we got to know at the reception how other hotel guests wanted to order something in the room. Statement of the lady at the reception: "We no longer have room service! "
Last but not least, we were allowed to pay 25 Euros for the underground car park, although our booking confirmation from HRS states that this is included in the price for HRS guests. However, the lady at the reception did not agree to cancel the parking fees despite presenting the booking confirmation.
Conclusion: Pretty hotel, but in no way corresponds to a 5 * standard.

My favourite hotel in Cologne — rarely enjoyed such a special atmosphere! The room (4th floor, maisonette) incl. The bathroom is very nice and homely — you don't have the feeling of being in a hotel, but feel at home. But also the staff is very friendly and attentive! All in mine, one of the most beautiful and extraordinary hotels (not only in Cologne! ).

Incredible and unusual hotel set in an old water tower. It's like a labyrinth inside but it's an absolute delight and exploring it is a treat! The service is impeccable and the breakfast was top notch. Also it has one of the next hotel gyms for its size I've seen. Highly recommended.

Not cheap, but if you're looking for something special, you've come to the right place. Old large water tower, very impressive and when you see what was made of the building to use as a hotel — fully succeeded.
In addition, a great all-round view of Cologne from the room and the accessible all-round gallery.
And very centrally located.

I felt completely at ease in this hotel. It was perfect (friendly and attentive staff; cleanliness; The whole ambiance was perfectly matched; the location; breakfast, which left no wishes open, etc. ).
The price is, of course, very price intensive, but I would, after I have had the weekend to get a very good impression, with a lot of joy to return there.
It is about 15-20 minutes walk to the city centre (Rhine river, etc. ). Opposite is a large swimming pool.

The room was lovely! The staff and service was awesome. The only negative is that the bathroom needed a little bit of refurbishment however everything was functional and clean. Close to the city as well!

Oh, the hotel in the water tower! An idyll. The most beautiful piece of Cologne I know. I do not like this city overly (OK, that is a matter of taste), but something nicer than this hotel I also find in me cities hardly take anywhere.
Wonderfully modern rooms, on the upper floors a superior view, nice staff, venerable building substance. Fantastic!

By far my personal favorite hotel in Cologne. The staff is very nice, far better than in the bigger chain hotels! Addition (21-3-18) : Two new breakfast offerings: "Super Bowl" (a bowl of yoghurt, fruit and cereal) and "Quick & Go" (tray with bread assortment, slices of meat and cheese, butter & marmelades). Both offerings include a glass of orange juice and coffee/tea. This breakfast was very good (more than enough) and the pricing is also very attractive (€12, 50).

I've been to the restaurant on the 11th floor. Stunning views of the city, taking a 360-degree walk on the terrace. Cocktail and dinner with more delicacy than quantity but all very rich. Impeccable service. The price is sure not to be cheap, but as I was invited… A single catch, the room temperature was too high. We had a door open to the terrace, on the 11th floor and at night, and still it was hot.

Amazing hotel in a beautiful building. Friendly helpful staff. Lots of nice little touches. Robes and slippers and a free mini bar thats replenished everyday. Tablet with Wi-Fi in the room. Turndown service every evening with a little gift. Best hotel I've stayed in. Bar is expensive though but they have a brilliant bar man so definitely worth a drink. Oh and the room service breakfast was delicious.

Really cool — not only as a hotel, but here you can go for a good meal. Quaint in the water tower walls on the ground floor or overlooking the city on the 11th floor.

The hotel stands out for its 5-star and distinctive style. In an old water tower this is a really nice backdrop.
The room, however, was a disaster. And dirty.
Silver fish in the shower, the faucets no longer get clean, blood stains on the wall.
The bed was very well located.
It also really helps the mini bar which is included is no longer on.
I only forgive the stars for the ambience in the entrance area.
Three stars are lost behind the door.

Architecturally an absolute eye-catcher. Maybe some dark shape inside. The windows in the room, however, are large in size. The service was very accommodating — especially at breakfast.

Good location close to the city centre and also the tourist bus tour passes directly to the hotel. Staff at reception and in the bar is really competent and accommodating. Food I was in none of the restaurants.
Worth seeing is the interior construction of the water tower; A very cosy atmosphere is created with special lighting. The room was not so exclusive and with the Nets in front of the windows the view was tarnished.
In spite of everything a recommended address.

Stayed for two nights for a birthday weekend, and would highly recommend anyone to stay at this beautiful hotel. Good location 5 minute walk away from old town, 10 from the cathedral, but was in a quiet enough area that we weren't disturbed at night.

A really interesting place to stay. It's a converted water tower. The curved theme continues in the rooms. French decorator had flair and plumbing is very French … It was a little tired and dated in as far as the dusty pink carpet and beige. It felt very 70s retro. Our room though large in metreage was in places pokey due to the loft situation and void. The breakfasts served in the main restaurant were wonderful. A lot of variety and very nicely presented. Their Michelin starred restaurant was closed the whole time we were there so we didn't have the opportunity to try. We did however have some 'bar food' which was surprisingly top notch.

Wonderful! this place is great. Into an old water tower, they install an hotel, a romantic hotel as they say. even without having a room there, enter and enjoy the architecture. The bar is on the ground floor. everything follows the round shape of the building. at the first floors, you have bridges to cross the platforms, and so you are over the underground, seeing it. it's possible to have good price depending on the dates.

What a hotel! I personally have been allowed to enjoy the best cocktail of my life here! Friendly staff, great service and finest ingredients:) 5 Star.

Beautiful Hotel which was formerly a water tower. Unusual Architecture and well-appointed hotel. Superb sober, elegant and modern decoration that respects the structure of the water tower and its spirit. Spacious duplex room with sitting area, nice bathroom, two WC. IPad, coffee maker, desk, free minibar, beautiful brightness. Lots of storage space, it feels wonderfully good. Free Sauna. At 1min walk from the underground station line 18, close to the city centre, and a 15-minute walk from the train station. Staff available and benevolent. Excellent Breakfast with a wide selection of qualitative, organic and fresh products.

The entrance area of the old water tower is a highlight. Some of the rooms have been renovated. The renovated rooms are very nice, but unfortunately there is no comfort in front of the unrenovated (no bathtub). The rooms, which are not renovated, have two bathrooms, depending on the room category. They are sometimes very worn, but still have charm and are cheaper than the new rooms. The reception is very friendly but sometimes somewhat clumsy.

Beautiful hotel, elegant and historically valuable with chic design elements. Only criticism: If the underground parking is full, it will be quite close with alternative parking facilities. There are parking strips on the roadside with parking fees (€3 per hour, maximum 4 hours). At the parking machines you can pay with coins or a cash card. I didn't have enough coins, nor did I use the money card. You can also pay by app, I installed one and before I could use it there were advertising pop-ups and I should register first, so I deleted the app directly, parked in another hotel and took the footpath. One reason for me not to check in at this hotel.

Quaint and original hotel. Do not take a room on the first two floors. Prefer the top floors for the view.

So we are very disappointed by our stay.
Had booked the "deluxe Suite" on the day of our wedding. 10.11.11.
Although the hotel was informed that this was the wedding day, no precautions were taken by hotel. We would have expected that at a proud price of about 600EU the night… Furthermore, the ventilation was unbearably noisy and the control system for the spy Fiebte an unbearable electric uncontrollable sound of itself… So we're really disappointed.

A really interesting hotel, very unusual and stylish you have to experience. We had a maisonette double room which was a bit noisy to the next rooms TMF. Otherwise everything was top.

This is a very exclusive Hotel in top location in Koln. The restaurant gives a filling of highend luxury service. The food is one of a kind and a good selection of choices to order from. It definitely deserves the 5* Resturant.

Beautiful hotel, my family were really impressed, arty, well designed, great views, fluffy towels and a good nights sleep, what's not to like? Well it was a little pricey, we didn't know the restaurant on the roof has a Michelin star. My mistake. For a couple, on a special occasion it would be lovely, with two youngish children in tow it wasn't really entirely suitable. Stunning building however, glad we stayed there, and it's only a 15 minute walk to the centre of Koln, parking at the hotel was €25.

We went to a krimidinner for this Hotel. What can I say? IT was very good and we want to See Part 2 next time.

in the bar, you can look sadly no small tables. To the b. My mother I would have beautiful found this, it was her 90ster and she wanted to look at the Tower very happy times. Before our eyes, then 2 tables together were pushed, so that we had space for 5 people.
Kindly may we just travel accompanied by upward and take a look over Cologne.
We ordered 2 not schmeckendenTassen coffee, 3 cups of tepid cocoa and 5 pieces of nasty Almond Cake or brownies that somehow together had fallen. The Almond Cake tasted musty and the Brwonies were slightly burnt. A potty has become liquid cream gave it also to: — (in the elegant water tower the forks and spoons and napkins in a mug shot together on the table were. )
The statement amounted to 47, €50
Then it took something, until we got our clothes back, because it did not know the right hand what is the left hand mmh where only their are the coats?
All in all: for my mother very nice for us never again
actually very sad, but it was also not much going on

For what it is, it's extremely well done… each room has som idiosyncrasy, but the setting and service are top notch… a very fun place to stay!

A water tower as a hotel is fantastic. I was invited to stay in this hotel by a customer and should not complain, however: — the taxi driver told me the hotel was one of the most expensive in Cologne, if that is true it is not worth the price of €300+/night — my room was newly renovated and as such in perfect order. The seating however was terrible. The desk could not be used as such since the seat was too low. The lounge chair sat terrible and was also impossible to work with a laptop — no power plug at the bed and terrible lighting to comfortable read — the so called gym is full of old and out of date equipment — breakfast is ok, but to be expected for €22. — — service is ok, but there is an air and hint of arrogance for a hotel that has not earned its merits yet.

Thank you dear staff from the Hotel in the water tower. You have me and my wife, an indescribable, amazing weekend of magic. Service 1a, room 1a. Location 1a. Just all class. Thank You Very Much. We always come back happy and can find the Hotel in the water tower unreservedly recommend.

The Hotel is very nice, the bathroom could however, once a proper treatment with vinegar cleaner and new faucets to tolerate. The evening meal was the appetizers and the Dessert excellent, the main course, however, was rather below average. The Breakfast service however was terrible! Various orders of egg dishes, etc were forgotten, the coffee did not come on time or was not in time nachgekocht, the water for the tea was partially cold, Cutlery was not timely refills. Overall, I would the Hotel due to the verkalten taps in the bathroom 4 stars, the dinner menu 3 star and Breakfast 2 stars.

The hotel itself is nice but somewhat badly maintained. The service especially in the restaurant is sorta lacking.

The Bar was cool. But thats because it was free! The view at the top is very very nice.
