Friendly staff but the place looks like it should be condemned. The main floor bathroom has a very foul odor. 2 of the stalls are closed because of a black mold spread across the floor. The ceilings have water damage. The bedrooms don't have enough outlets. I had to unplug items to plug in other of there appliances. The bathroom needed some work to it. The adjoining room door was unlocked :/. … very disappointed with this stay. Checked out after one night and headed home.

Kind of out of the way and beside the 401, no fridge in the room as advertised and not allowed to check in before 3pm. But… the rooms look great inside and have everything you need. Lots of space to park, easy to find and decent continental breakfast. We only needed a room for the night as we were in town for a wedding so it met our needs perfectly. And it was half the price of anything else in the area. Give it a shot.

I gave this hotel a 3 out of 5 because it is out dated and the beds aren't the comfiest. The tv's are old but at least you don't have to pay to use it. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They wanted to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Like a fridge and crib. The breakfast is basic cereal, toast, and danish but it was something to tie you over til you needed to go out for lunch or start your day. I enjoyed my stay except for the smoke smell coming into my bathroom from the vent above because the guests next door were not following the rile of no smoking in the room. Staff assured me they would handle it. It may not be the days inn or somewhere fancy but all we had needed was somewhere we could sleep for the night and it did it's job.

The worst experience I have had was at this place. I did not got an opportunity to witness hospitality there / It seemed like an old Museum / stinking lobby / staff wasn't helpful — we were carrying lot of luggage as we just moved to toronto, we were given a room on the first floor, on top of it there was no lift, we had to lift those 7 bags and the staff was not even bothered to help / Pathetic Breakfast. Over all… not worth spending.

This is a dirty hotel. It does not have a sauna. It has a massage therapist one can make an appointment with for $60. There were holes in the walls, dirty carpet. My son got an eye infection. They advertise a microwave and refrigerator, it had neither. This motel is worth $30 per day. The foyer is cold. The tv's are out of date. The bathroom is NASTY. It's also very out of date. Embarrassed as well to take my children there. Saw a review on a site claiming it was 4.5 star rated just to get the fee. Always check other sites as well that are not affiliated with getting a kick back. I will never request services from either that motel or the site that referred me.

I do not recommend facilities in bad condition. Dirty bathrooms in the bedrooms. The clerk who serves the dining room a guy, I don't know if he's Chinese. Japanese. Korean. Filipino. Etc etc. I do not know what race is but very despotism. And rude.

A shame for the Howard Johnson. Should not be listed on Expedia. Basins are broken. Room was freezing and took for everyone warm up. Garbage littered all over. Room furniture are very very old and dirty. There was a water leak on the hallway which was not fixed in even three days when we were there. An apology notice hangs, but it's hard to believe that they are sincere about it. The card readers on the door are malfunctioning and took about 10 attempts in times to unlock the doors.

A comfortable place, though sloppy, long hallways, alone, look like room for a horror movie and the staff is not friendly.

The Wi-Fi is very very slow and constantly needs your attention to keep your device connected. The comforter had cigarette holes in them… breakfast was okay with cereal, juice, bread, coffee. House keeping was good though.

Don't stay here! We Checked in was told they didn't have anymore pet rooms so they gave us a smoking room. Told to park around back. Parking lot was not plowed. Got it the hallway and it didn't look promising. Upon entering the room we were hit with a nasty strong smoke smell. Tried turning on lights only 2 worked and were so dim we had to use our phone flashlight. Burn marks in the wall and lampshade. Didnt even check the bathroom. Stayed in the room all of 5 mins before we got out and went to the front desk to ask for a refund. Gave us the refund and we went and stayed elsewhere.

Terrible. • Pool room is open but under renovations so no hot tub, no sauna and disgusting showers. No towels in the towel rack. Had to go to front desk soaking to get a towel that won't even cover the butt. • Smelly rooms. Carpets look gross. There was a fan blowing against the carpet in the hallway. Whenever it was, it was nasty. No safe, no fridge, no microwave, just the typical coffee brewer that no one dares to use. • breakfast consisted of cereal, lukewarm milk, stale croissants, and no eggs and nothing warm. There was a 'breakfast Nazi' who kept guard and wouldn't let anyone warm up their croissants in the toaster. Really? • complaints are completely ignored by all staff as they are not from this country so it's easier to rudely ignore us. Typical.

What a NIGHTMARE I woke up on New Years Eve In this Bed, not knowing or thinking that this is what was between me and the sheets. As I rolled over to grab the blanket the sheet came with it and this is what I FOUND. A Murder scene — you can almost see the body outline in the blood with the amount of blood all over it. I called in the cleaning supervisor — (a Black women) who told me it was teas — — she was insulting my intelligence. Like any one with brains could see the that this wasn't tea. I told the manger to please come to my room, which he refused and told me I need to check out. I brought the picture to him he said" Why didn't I check the bed when I got the room — — Like excuse me! I didn't think I would have to. I didn't think this was a garbage motel ;like on kingston road or so I thought! Thanks to Howard Johnston I will be starting my New Year off in therapy. The amount of blood spats and blood all the bed, I can help but to think about the person who who was killed there.

Polite front desk staff. Building needs a modern look and security upgrades, better sound proofing of rooms, better breakfast options and new carpets.

Worst hotel I have ever seen in my life and I feel uncomfortable here even my family feel upset. Rooms are badly designed and maintained also this hotel needs renovations. Are you also seriously kidding me Wi-Fi is bad breakfast room is messy. Swimming pool is dirty and uncleaned. I am gonna warn you DO NOT COME HERE why because you will smell smoke and dirty and stinky hallways I feel upset now. Seriously howard johnson.

Stayed two weeks was lied to about we had one of the best smoking rooms. Highly doubt that as the room beside ours was way more updated. Cheap though should be called an inn and not a Hotel.

Stayed 1 night for a sports competition. Gross dirty disgusting cesspool of junkies. Filthy, mouldy stank of dope and cigarettes. Found roaches and human teeth in our room. Patio door was held together with duct tape. Police came and broke up a domestic across the hall. We called because the hotel manager refused. My husband had to stand guard in the hallway because the 20 girls between 10-16 we were in charge of for the night were terrified. The manager pretends not to be the manager when you ask to speak to the manager. When we told him how awful our stay was he laughed at us and said "whatever". I wish I could post the pics here to show people what the rooms really look like. They obviously used pics from another hotel on their website. Just don't.

Experience is beyond horrific. If there was an option for a negative rating of — 5 stars, this hotel would get it. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this location at all costs. Lets run down the just SOME of the issues with this joke of a hotel: 1) Pillow cases with dry blood them. 2) No towels in the pool area 3) Filthy Pool with dirt at the bottom of the pool 4) Piss poor service 5) Filthy rooms 6) Filthy Hallways 7) Terrible breakfast with stale bread and danishes 8) No cups in room 9) Broken Wi-Fi (never worked from the time I checked in to the time I left) 10) Whirl Pool out of order 11) Room phone was broken. Could not call to front desk. Had to use my cellphone. When I asked for the pillows to be replaced they told me they didn't have any more pillows… You have to be kidding me! No more pillows? This is without a doubt the WORST experience I have had in the last 30+years.

The first day smells bad, the second day improved.

The long hallways stink on foot and cat pee. There are spiders in the rooms, and hairs in the bathtub. I imagine that in 1967 it was a good hotel, today it seems worthy of a horror movie. If you are European I do not recommend it. It's expensive and it's lost in nothingness. A mistake.

Horrible room conditions for room and dusty. Dusty and feeling skin itches due to dust all around. The carpet seems not cleaned for long time. No Wi-Fi. Bed is not in good condition. Some Sharpe edges exposed from bed base. I friend get hurt by that sharp edges exposed when he off the bed. Extremely surprise first aid box kept by the inn has no iodine or alcohol like solution for wound sterilization. I can't imagine that basic things are lacked. It is unacceptable.

Old hotel in need of important repairs and interviews. Disturbing environment with cluttered parking lots of waste and car carcasses. Breakfasts acceptable but not luxurious. Spacious and family rooms, correct for small budgets. Comfortable beds, fridge, TV, Wi-Fi.

Pestilencielle smell in the hallway, semi clean room, dodgy neighborhood. Still cheap. Uneasiness for the family. Ok for workers.

This Howard Johnson hotel was located in Scarborough. It not easy to find for the location was behind a parking though a church. Service was good. Our room was nice and a good size. It was clean and comfortable. Not a bad stay just located in a bad spot.

Worst hotel to avoid. Housekeeping not done. Very dirty and lack of maintenance.

If you need a place to sleep relatively cheap for Toronto and you're not too picky it works. The staff here a very nice and they were able to get us connecting rooms which is a huge bonus. We needed a place to go after our reservation at another hotel turned out very bad (double the price, no connecting rooms, bad smells and mold in the bathrooms for our family of 7). The rooms are clean but the property itself is pretty run down and needs a lot of updating. It has a huge courtyard in the center of it but is completely overgrown with weeds. Parking is free. Breakfast is free too but a true continental (cereal, toast, juice, coffee and pastries). Pool looked ok but we didn't have time to use it. For service I would give them 3 1/2 stars but the property itself 2.

Seize the first impressions of the place, is correct for the price. The rooms are large, close to a Costco and shopping malls and 35 min from the CN Towers. Breakfast of cereals and bread with coffee. Old Hotel a little abandonadonado in a sector middle class in transformation, difficult to find for the first time, about goes out for the price in a very expensive city.

The rooms are disgusting, I saw 2 traps a mouse… the housekeeping not done for minimum 2 years.

Absolutely Horrible this hotel should be closed down it smells everywhere of smoke and urine at the exit doors do not spend your hard earned dollars on this horrid hotel. The City of Toronto should shut it down it's an embarrassment to our wonderful clean City — 10 out of 10

Hotel is worth for its value and friendliness. I have to be fair here. I should give this motel a 3-star BUT reason I go for 4-star is simple: we have stayed here for numerous years (since 2005) at least twice a year and rarely have encountered the kinds of issues that other reviewers complain about. Yes it's true that some rooms are rundown (i. E. The 2nd floor). HOJO has been trying hard to renovate the motel. We stayed mostly on 1st floor which finally got renovated so this area is more bearable. Staff is generally very friendly and helpful. Wherever we encounter issues they try to resolve it asap. For a 2-star motel the value is the key here. Toronto has become a VERY EXPENSIVE city. Their rooms at $85/night for 5 people is a very generous fare price. It is difficult to find a decent price elsewhere. Breakfast is decent but whenever HOJO is fully booked (usually by Asian tours during summer weekends) there's hardly much choice for breakfast (a big negative). Facilities such as swimming pool is great. Unfortunately last time we stayed back in March 2016 the pool was broken : — ( In summary: For price value and friendliness, HOJO has been almost like and 2nd home to us when we come to Toronto.

Stayed here over the weekend and I booked 4 double bed rooms for my team. Upon entering the hotel it looked ok from the main entrance but once in the hallways and our rooms, they were VERY DATED! Smoking rooms were just dirty from top to bottom and we weren't able to open doors to air them out. Our room carpet was soooo… dirty wouldn't want to wear no shoes in there… the access to the outside through the sliding door was suppose to be locked but ours had been broken and the handle was hanging off. One of the rooms had a bus running outside of it the whole night! Would not recommend this hotel at all, pay the extra to stay elsewhere.

Check-in was pleasant and quick. Yes, this hotel is a bit run down, but it was clean and everything worked. It's older and I'd expect it to look a bit 'tired'. We had a pleasant stay and won't hesitate to book again.

Place seemed worn out. Bathroom in the room was dirty. Would give a zero star rating but seems that I'm not allowed to. Don't waste your time.

You can sleep and have a decent breakfast. No more. Crappy. And it's not that close to the airport as they say.

I attended a meeting at this hotel and found it exactly the way the comments described it. The properly is extremely dated/worn/poorly maintained. The hallways may have had new carpet installed at least 5+ years ago however they were dirty. The walls/doors show heavy wear (scratched/torn) as if they haven't been painted in a decade. During a rainstorm, there were buckets everywhere (leaks) and the windows leaked in the main entrance. The entire hotel was cold and damp feeling. Fortunately, the lobby bathroom was clean (although freezing cold). This hotel looks like it's either about to close (minimum effort put in to maintain it) or it's just too far-gone to fix without totally gutting it. If it was re-done it would be a great place as it's right off the highway (literally).

Stayed there with my Wife our three kids and my sister in law, things werent in perfect shape such as the toilet paper despenser falling out, the Wi-Fi sucked cut in and out and there were burn holes in the blankets… BUTT the staff was kind, we had free breakfast, they allowed the 5 of us to share a room rather than forcing us to pay for a second… just very nice all around aside from the cosmetics… when we went out they cleaned. The hotel itself was clean and my children could actually touch the ground in the pool which never happens in a hotel.

To begin, there was very minimal signage and poor lighting, it was hard to find the hotel. It was only because I knew exactly where it was on a map that I knew where it was. Not in a nice area, next to industrial buildings. Upon booking online, I called to confirm my reservation because I didn't know my exact arrival time, and the woman on the phone threatened to cancel my reservation if I didn't get there by 9pm The walls & doors needing painting, the carpets are stained, the bathroom ceiling is drooping, the sink counter is also drooping, the sheets feel dirty, one of the beds had a pubic hair in it, the towels had hairs in them. There was a spider in the bathtub, the electrical outlet cover was broken. Stay away from this place.

Horrible… just horrible! Room is not clean. The hotel in general has a weird smell. Rusty bathroom, tiny towels, broken tv… I came here to save a few bucks… bad decision! The staff is ok except for that weird lady that followed me around for God knows what reason. Seriously don't book this hotel, you'll regret it! Don't you find it odd that they only respond to the nice comment?! Please put real pictures on the internet. It's false advertising…

Zero stars if I could! the worst place I ever seen. There were bed bugs on the sheets and curtains and it also smelled disgusting. We left right after we had checked in and I was not offer an apology let alone a reimbursement! Do not stay there!
