MacEwan Residence is everything you need for a stay in Edmonton. It is near downtown and has many good features you won't get from the average hotel. It is set up in a suite style with up to 4 individual rooms with a common living space and kitchen. That being said, the kitchen has no oven and the box of cooking supplies does not include lids for the pots.

Didn't go inside. Looked like there was a drug deal happening outside. Good for Pokemon go raids.

Pretty nice for student housing. Much nicer than Lister Hall, from my experience. Visited for a conference. Bathroom could have used a threshold, if you aren't careful you can send a lot of water into the kitchen from the shower. My roommate didn't keep his eye on the shower curtain and we had a little puddle form. I imagine this would happen a lot if you lived there.

Rooms were fine, nothing special. To be expected for a dorm. Rooms were rather hot on the tenth floor, fans were provided though. Location was conveniently close to downtown and the Legislature.

Nice and central to downtown. A good choice if you want something cheaper than a hotel. Just a place with a bed and shower.

Pretty good place if you're a traveling student on a budget. Nothing fancy at all but safe and near downtown.

Rooms tend to be clean. Noisy atmosphere. Good food and stores nearby.

Small, but bigger than most dorms. Pretty alright overall, no ovens tho.

The newly renovated residence building has been updated and reinvented! The on campus residence atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The decor is fresh, clean and focused on providing the students a safe space to do their studies or relax and unwind with friends. The hotel space has also been updated with newly decorated theme rooms where you can tell much care and thought went into the design. Well done MacEwan!

Dropped my sister off at the hotel here before she can move into residence. Great that they take NAIT and UofA students as well.

A good price if you're not planning to just hang out in your room all day.

Went out for drinks with some friends. Customer service and promptness was exceptional! Very friendly and served our drinks in a timely manner. We never had to wait around to have our drinks refilled.

My daughter stayed here as a student resident for a year. 1) BEWARE — during her stay as students left, the ones remaining were shuffled from room to room. This occurred several times during a 1 year period. They were required to do move out cleans on all of the rooms but the rooms they were moved to were not move-in clean. 2) My daughter was put into a room with another student who refused to lock the door when no one was there. This was a huge security issue and was brought to staff’s attention. Other than speaking to this student, nothing was done. It continued and they would not move my daughter to another room. Basically told her to work it out amongst themselves. Seriously! At anytime a preditor could have been lying wait in the room. Yes the elevators need a card to get to the floor but there are 80+ people staying on any given floor. 3) DAMAGE DEPOSIT — after my daughter left the residence. No corespondence was ever recieved as to if there were charges incurred and no monies were returned. We have called & emailed several times. The response we get is “it isn’t my job, ” but they will not give out who’s job it is. It has been 4 months since she left. I am so disappointed that this was my daughter’s college experience and first living away from home experience.

Looking a good place to stay while going to MacEwan? Well don't stay here if you enjoy having internet access when you really need it, like during exam week. For 100 bucks cheaper you can stay at the residence across the street and and still be 5 minutes within your next class. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Wouldn't even give a single star if I had the choice.

Good location Everyone was super nice. My friend lives in a bachelor suite. It was cute. Had cement floors tho.

It's a great place if you want a simple experience to stay the night, though a chilly feel with everything cement around.

Rooms are tidy. Building is very hot. Wifi is never working. Close to campus downtown. Close to lrt station.

Ethernet is 15 down, 18up. Bed is kinda comfy. Comes with a massive desk. Plenty of space to put at least 2 wardrobe shelves. Kitchen and washroom is alright. Kinda hoped the ethernet is faster though since my friend goes to UAlberta and gets 75+down, 55+ up. Also, despite having the thermostat all the way down, it was still pretty hot.

Stayed for a convention. The room was big for a one room dorm. The bed wasn't the best but I didn't mind. The only issue I had was the fact I was staying with a friend and we only had one set of keys and swipe card. It was hard to plan when we would head back to the room. We eventually just kept the door unlocked and we relied on other people to get onto our floor. Really my only gripe. Our room had a fridge which I liked. If you go when classes take place you might get strange looks from students.

Good value. Stayed the night for a concert at Roger's Place and paid less than $100, including parking. This was a good deal for the night we were there, though I've been able to stay at actual hotels downtown for a similar price on previous trips. The walk to Roger's Place is less than 10 minutes door to door. There is a Tim Horton's/Wendy's right across the street, as well as several other restaurants and shops within walking distance. The area feels pretty safe and the building is very secure. The room, bedding, and towels were all quite clean. Check in was easy. It was a bit tricky to find. Take the entrance off 109 St if you're driving or enter the MacEwan campus right across from the Tim's/Wendy's if you're walking. Instead of a key card, you get a thick magnetic card and a key, which is pretty bulky to carry around. We had a bachelor suite, which was nicely sized and had a bed big enough for two people, as well as a full kitchenette. The bed wasn't very comfortable and made a lot of noise, and the pillows were pretty flat. It was fine for one night, but I wouldn't want to sleep in this bed for much more than this. The shower head was pretty high and since I'm short and the shower is small, I had a hard time keeping my head away from the water.

If I could give this establishment no star, I would. These people are shady but most people don't know this. Even I myself did not know this until recently. To my shock, these people actually charged me with fabricated cleaning charges. These people told me that the radiator yes, the radiator was dirty. They said that under the bed was dirty. Now this may seem rational but the bed frame plus the bed together is so heavy that it is practically impossible for even a really strong person to lift the entire bed alone. Yet these people expected me to lift the entire bed in order to clean underneath it. It's not as if an "under the bed" section was included in the check in form anyway. Speaking of the check in form, I had informed them in my check in form that some areas were dirty but still, they are charging me for these areas that were already dirty before I moved in. And no one even bothered to follow up with me regarding the issue of things being dirty which, I had noted in the check in form. Yet these same people are charging me with "cleaning charges". Additionally, they have no proof whatsoever of my room being dirty, all they have are "professional inspection staff" who are incapable of lying, who are incapable of misjudging right? Any other rental establishment would have done a thorough walk through but this establishment didn't. I guess they didn't do a walk through because they are shady. Never again will I trust this establishment, never again will I rent here.

Room temperature was impossible to control. Even with the thermostat completely turned down, it got unbearably hot as soon as it was +4 or warmer. Concrete floors and walls made it seem like a jail. I cannot imagine being a student here, staying for a weekend event was already long enough. A deck would have made all the difference. Any noise from neighbors (showers, T. V's, music, door opening, elevator dinging, etc. ) is heard with incredible clarity through the walls. Limited counter space makes it difficult to prepare anything (stove fan is incredibly loud). Fridge is a great size and does help in saving $ if you buy your own groceries. $5 daily dishes rental if you don't have pans etc. Soap and brooms not included. Beds were small and uncomfortable, mattresses were too thin. Full size bed is definitely not meant for two people. Off season rental way too expensive for amenities offered. Price benefit is only seen if you pay for two bedrooms (A and B) as compared to getting separate bedrooms in a hotel.

Good staff. Good attitude. Blanket was not clean. No house keeping service during the stay. Suite is actually a small dorm. Parking is extra.

Beds are horrible and too loud.

Awful experience. Room temperature was impossible to control. Even with the thermostat completely turned down, it got unbearably hot as soon as it was +4 or warmer. In the winter months, the heater creates a dry, uncomfortable environment. Residence staff VERY pushy towards events, meetings, etc. (I'm very social, but this got ridiculous, they pound on the door several times a week) Any noise from neighbors (showers, T. V's, music, parties, etc. ) is heard with incredible clarity through the walls. Limited counter space and poor cooking amenities make it difficult to prepare anything (stove fan is incredibly loud and smoke detector sensitive) Concrete floors and walls suck the moisture out of the air, again, causing an uncomfortable environment. Beds were small and uncomfortable. Had troubles with my roommate and cleanliness and hygiene, or lack thereof, making for an awkward situation. Residence staff were absolutely no help in resolving the issue, and rules make it extremely difficult to change roommates. Check-in at the lobby on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights makes it feel like boarding school. Being charged to stay during winter break is ridiculous and inconvenient. Way too expensive for amenities offered. I would STRONGLY recommend looking into other options before choosing residence.

Great location and staff. Only downsides — — the drunks and parties. Resident for four years, with an extra semester to go.
