Restaurant rating: You immediately feel welcome. Here hospitality is lived, service very friendly and courteous, food of high quality. There is a wide range of fine dining in Salzburg City, but the restaurant of the Hotel Goldener Hirsch is by far number 1.

Great hotel, I recommend it for everyone who wants to spend some time in the city.

Great experience at a wonderful hotel.

After 9 months of renovations, in the hotel, the restaurant just reopened 3 days ago. We were visiting in 2013 and the memories are comparable ❣️Many of the staff is still present. Always the same kindness and professionalism. Without being starred, it's worth it. Looking forward to returning, after the next renovations ❣️ Salzburger Norckerl still as good.

Very, very elegant, luxurious hotel, right in the centre of Salzburg.
The Festspielhaus is just a stone's throw away and is ideal for visitors to e. G. "Everyone".
Also The market place and the Salzach, are almost in "call range".
Directly in the historic old town, which invites you to stroll and discover.
The staff is attentive, polite and friendly, so that you feel well taken care of.

The hotel is very central and historical BUT comfort and facilities are VERY outdated and not at luxury level at all. The hotel needs a radical investement (that of course they promise “for next year”). We went in July and prices were totally absurd versus the cheap room we had.

Our family of 5 was completely impressed with our visit to Salzburg. The Hotel Goldener Hirsch was a big part of making our trip special. The accommodations, the service, the food and the friendly advice are superb. We would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

Excellent hotel, with great staff who go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The location is fantastic, and they have air conditioning which can be rare in that area.

The location of the hotel is outstanding, just on the shopping street in the old town centre of Salzburg. Everything is just a stone’s throw away. The staff is very polite and friendly. Breakfast is good. Rooms are very clean and made up well. Doesn’t have a pool though, understandable based on location and age of the property. Room did not have facilities for making tea/coffee which was a bit odd. The valet park of the hotel is a bit expensive, but the Altstadt car park is just 5 mins walk away, we parked our car there.

This is one of my favorite hotels. Absolutely fabulous. The staff here is amazing. Accommodating, helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. The room and service has all the little touches… small things that you mostly miss in many other hotels these days. My experience with the hotel was wonderful. We stayed as a family with two small children and it was home to us right from the start. Goldener Hirsch is one of the best addresses in town. The bar in the lobby is top notch and the staff goes above and beyond to assist with absolutely anything. Rooms are clean and spacious, Austrian style. This place is luxurious and right in the middle of all of the shopping in Salzburg. The restaurant is also very good. You couldn't get a better location in the city if you tried. It is well worth it. You will not be disappointed. I recommend it highly to anyone who is staying for a top of class experience.

I loved this hotel and the friendly staff. Out room had all the little touches… small things you may have forgotten like a comb etc. The water on the nightstand and chocolate on my pillow every night was a treat and I found the staff warm, considerate and helpful.

Very expensive, well maintained restaurant with excellent tasting micro portions.

The staff here are amazing. Accommodating, helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. Porter's are considerate and polite. Location can't be better for old town Salzburg. Would recommend to anyone who is staying for a top of class experience.

Hotel in centre of Salsburg. I loved it for its location and for its rooms super spacious and with a touch of tyrolean with lots of wood for furniture. The rooms are arranged along the hotel almost like a maze.

A very nice hotel in a prime old city location, it is part of an original building that was built more than a half century ago. Overall, this is a very luxurious hotel with excellent staff that provide very good service and travel advice. The breakfast is excellent with a wide assortment of options. A few finicky issues include very slow hot water and low headroom in some hallways.

The suite is more like a house. Of course the modernized centuries old building has retained its feel of the old with the convinces of today. The facilities as well as the service are both excellent. The breakfast is good but does not measure up to the breakfasts of other luxury hotels. For me, this is important since breakfast is my main meal of the day.

Luxury restaurant very good beautiful site decorated with cierbos. Ask for the "Backhähnle" (chicken) with cucumber salad. Bring pasta ;).

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! This place is luxurious and right in the middle of all of the shopping in Salzburg. The restaurant is also very good. We stayed in one of the suites. Go ahead and splurge. It is well worth it. You will not be disappointed.

Back in 2011 I stayed here with my family and appropriately reviewed this hotel 'Just Brilliant! '. 6 years on… Just brilliant again! Having stayed here over Christmas we love this hotel for it's old Salzburg / Austrian 'charm', the decor, the fit-out of the rooms, the service, the staff, the food and of course the amazing location. It is just a great place to stay and I really can't speak more highly about the hotel as a whole. If you're looking to stay a night or several this is the Hotel of choice to experience Salzburg and all it has to offer. Brilliant.

Greatest Hotel and staff I have ever encountered and it has been my pleasure to experience time after time. We have been coming here for years and it only gets better. The staff is warm and professional. They are like old friends! I cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough. We have brought numerous friends with us and they have all said it was the highlight of their trip. A traditional Austrian Inn with a wonderful authentic restaurant and kitchen! SIX STARS!

I stayed here in 2003 the first time; I knew I would always come back. This time I came with my English Bulldog; it did not disappoint me, in fact, it exceeded my expectations. I feel like it is the best place to stay in Salzburg. The staff are great, everything was perfect and it is right in the center of town. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to stay here again and I will be back! Boo is very happy too!

This was the best place to stay in Salzburg — right in the middle of everything in the old town — all easy walking distance to most of the sights — the hotel and staff were amazing — they recommended great places to eat and things to do — very friendly people. The food was great at the breakfast buffet and at there restaurant next door — If we ever are back would stay again for sure.

Great old hotel, right on one of the main nice walking streets. This hotel is very central. Service is great. Rooms are a bit dated, but have a nice alpine feel for those who like the old school touches. It's a small property. Starwood affiliated.

The only other 5* hotel I've stayed in is in Vienna. This one (in Salzburg) is truly special! The staff is so friendly and helpful — they seem interested only in the visitors comfort and delight. The rooms were totally awesome, the location is perfect. While we were there a parade went by with hundreds of participants including bands playing marches and we could hang out of our windows and have 1st class seats — loved it! The food in the hotel plus the waiters eagerness to please made the dining experience outstanding. I cannot think of any experience I had there that didn't add to my complete enjoyment. Thank you to everyone at Goldener Hirsch — I would love to visit again! By the way — I bought the book of this hotel and am thoroughly enjoying reading it — quite a history.

I didn't stay at the hotel, but I went to the cozy bar on a Saturday night and it's a hidden gem to go to with friends. It wasn't overcrowded like many of the bars in this area, so it was a nice respite with a warm ambience.
