Cheap price but not very clean, loud guests late at night kept me up, very dim lighting in the rooms, staff not overly friendly. Wi-Fi not very reliable.

Our room is clean room but smelly. Convenient location. No frills but decent place to stay. Clean toilet and bathroom.

Stayed here for a week. It's quiet and close to beach. Clean kitchen, room, bathrooms & showers. Free car park too the other YHA next to airport isn't as clean and there is no 4-beds rooms.

A very clean and nice hostel with very friendly staff and a happy atmosphere. I can recommend this hostel chain to everybody. :-)

Out of the way location, and although there is a free shuttle, it only goes about 4 times a day, and not in the evenings. Spacious rooms, but only one or two plug sockets per room. Had to swap mattresses as the first one had evil springs.

The Surfers Paradise YHA is a great choice for budget accommodation, and is decently close to the Gold Coast CBD. There is access to the Main Beach just across the road, and it's possible to walk the beach or the lighted footpath all the way downtown. The YHA has an on-site kitchen that's well equipped and the common areas have everything a person could need to entertain themselves away from home. For those traveling by car, there is plenty of free parking available (just be sure to grab a parking pass from reception to place on your dash). Overall, a great value for very reasonable accommodation! 10/10

No aircon in room and really needs some new paint and flooring. Far from the city centre, free parking tough. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If it was a cheap hostel I would expect it but not at yha. Only stayed one night and unfortunately the fire alarm went off, not the hostels fault but still it made our stay worse.

The hostel is located directly near the beach. Super via bus to reach.
Reception Mega friendly. Mostly also travelers. Unfortunately a bit overpriced for such a classic standard. Must be in place and session.

Absolutely loved our stay here, we had a blast. Clean ablutions, fun and kind staff and clean and lovely rooms.

This is probably the lowest quality hostel from YHA on the east coast. The rooms and bathrooms were dirty and weren’t in a good condition. You need to walk 20 min to the next supermarket and when you want to go to Surfers Paradise its the best way to take the tram or the bus. The kitchen was too small and the relax possibilities weren’t that good like in other YHA‘s. It was great that you just need to walk 5 min to the Main Beach.

Not for family, Had booked a double bedroom over the weekend and was sent a online check inn link (which did not work). Later when I showed up with my wife and two infants the lady was quite rude and told us she had spoken to me earlier prompting of a fire and safety risk, suggesting its not suitable for all of us in that double bedroom. I never had any phone calls and they did not show me any reasonable alternative accommodation at that time I had no other option but to drive my already tired family to back home in Brisbane. I know its a youth hotel but just a reminder that they don't have any concerns for families.

You can not tell me that this is a 5 star. Have you been to any other hostel ever? staff was nice… thats it.
If this was a $20 a night hostel… sure its a 4 star. But at $38-42 a night? Not a chance. Was here 2 years ago and nothing has changed.

Excellent staff and a friendly environment, beauty view of the Marina and right across the street from the gold Coast beaches. Close to town. Lots to see and do while visiting.

I have stayed here on 6 occasions now and have always found the staff to be highly professional, helpful and courteous. Considering the number of young people who stay here, I have always found the premises to be clean and tidy and would highly recommend the YHA at surfers paradise to all.

Really quiet place. If you want party there is a shuttle bus to surfers paradise. It's quite clean, the cleaners are always around. A bit far from the city center and the clubs. There're not many activities to do.

The kitchen/dining area is really nice and has a balcony as well as bathrooms and a lounge area connected to it. There are an abundance of chairs and tables to sit at and eat. The beds are very comfortable.

This is one of the decent YHAs I have stayed in. It is 2mins from the beach. 10 mins to cbd by car. Being babackpackers hostel it is fairly cheap compared to other accommodations. Reception staff are nice and friendly.

Everything is clean. The rooms are comfy and there is a free shuttle service to the cbd.

Great place to stay if you want to be out of the city. The room and facilities were clean. There is lot of plugs in the room and lockers for more safety. The staff at the reception is very friendly :) The only "down" was the free Wi-Fi which was very slow as per usual…

This hostel was quite nice! Very unique to other YHAs I've stayed at. I like that the common room was open air, and all the rooms branched off of an open-air walkway. The outdoor/indoor concept of the hostel gave it a tropical vibe. The rooms and bathroom were standard but clean. The hostel staff at the front desk were the friendliest and most helpful of any hostel I've been to. They accommodated my group of six (4 of us booked together and 2 didn't) to find a way to put us all in the same 6-person room. The location was okay — — it was about a 15-minute uber ride (40-minute bus ride) into the heart of surfer's paradise where all the clubs and restaurants are located. If you wish to be closer to the action and heart of the city then I would recommend looking into surfer's paradise backpackers hostel. However, if you don't mind being a little further from the downtown and want to be near the beach and marina, then this hostel is great! There was a great shopping centre with a nice weekend market next door, and if was steps away from Gold Coast Jetski Safari, which is an excursion I would definitely recommend. Great hostel, great experience, and great value for your money.

Bad smell in the room, mess everywhere from people who live there, leaking taps in the bathrooms and lack of access to internet. It's not a good option to stay if you are looking for a place close to Surfers paradise.

2 mins to the beach. Alot further out of than I though and no near by food shops.

Smelly room, lacking general cleanness, very old building and facilities. Would not recommend, unfortunately.

Great bunch of people, always can see a cleaner cleaning, great kitchen facility and plenty of furniture, beds and linen are pretty good, easy to just get up and go, showers are good enough, walking distance to sea world and free busses into the city.

Great facilities, and right by the beach! If I remember well there's a market on sundays, right beside it.

Good location but not a good value for money. The location is great a great marina with great restaurants, attraction and pubs. But the room felt like a dirty prison, it really needs some renovation to make the rooms look cleaner and more cosy. Overall it feels dated, needs a facelift. We paid $70 per night I don't think it should have been more than $50.

Room are clean, staff is polite and kind. The beach is located in front Of the hostel and SeaWorld is only at 10 minutes. The hostel rents bikes and surf boards at a cheap price (considering the prices in gold coast). They have very interesting prices for theme parks. I paid only 80 dollars for movie world. SeaWorld. And another that I forgot the name. Oh and there is a free yha bus going to gold coast center and transit station every 2 hours, that's good.

Shuttle very limited so I had to pay a taxi to get there and to leave again. No supermarket close.

Strict hostel and away from surfers district. Not social, no smoking on premises or drinking or playing music. Popcorn and movie night 4 nights a week for activities and pub crawl for 3. There is a yha shuttle from greyhound, lockers in room and dishes in kitchen. International hostel card kept for a key deposit. Nice view of harbour. Scuba and jet boating and restaurants stores / liquor store 1 minute away.
