No stars they don't have what the say they have there and the staff steal your stuff as well when u go out I would not recommend anyone stay there to be honest.

The Gold Coast Backpackers is one of the worst hostels by a mile. The rooms are extremely small and the bathroom is tiny, there is mildew everywhere and the door isn‘t lockable. You are not allowed to bring your own drinks otherwise you lose your key deposit and have to pay $200 fine — you are forced to buy expensive alkohol at their receiption. Furthermore no one came to clean the room or replace toilet tissue within my two week stay! They advertise free breakfast which means they put $1 white sandwich bread next to a bowl of butter, nothing else. The music in the lounge is so loud that it‘s not possible to watch TV and the staff will not turn it down even if you ask many times. I strongly do not recommend this hostel.

Get what you pay for. A bunk bed to sleep on. No frills (at all)

I understand everything that goes with a hostel… and was impressed with how clean it was. I honestly just wish they had air conditioning or good airflow!

The Gold Coast Backpackers is locked very central, only a 1 Minute walk to the beach and 5 Minutes walk to a big supermarket. The rooms are ok, a bit small but with a own bathroom and balcony. The staff is very friendly. A great plus point is that you can use many things for free: bicycles, surfboards, games e. G. Billiard and dart, sunscreen and even free breakfast. They have a big lobby and a bar where you can chill all day long. All in all it is a good Hostel but don't expect too much for that little money you pay.

Insider tip for the small purse. Very quiet.

Good value for money. Easy check in and out. Room stank like sweat upon entering, had to leave fans blasting and balcony door open. Was able to keep cool in summer. What you'd expect for 30pp per night.

Awful, overpriced with tiny rooms. Dull atmosphere — stay away!

Worst experience and customer service.

Friend recommended me this place as he is staying there, I booked with them then the night before I was suppose to go to the Gold Coast he calls me telling me he went down to get drink he comes back to his room a man standing outside and a girl in his room, she walks out with his phone and cigarettes she runs off and the man then offers my friend to by methamphetamine (other backpackers have also said the same man is walking around offering them all drugs) the lady at the front desk was no help to my friend or me when I called up to cancel as I no longer wanted to stay there. Theifs.

Gold Coast Backpackers 8/10, would stay again… Pros — Staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. — Location was excellent, you can use the Q1 as a landmark so it's hard to get lost! — Kitchen facilities and amenities were easy enough to access — People staying there were also a good mix — Communal area is really nice to chill in Cons — Some rooms can get very hot and uncomfortable — Can feel a bit cramped in some rooms — Kitchen feels a little untidy but it is clean enough to cook in and is monitored well.

The staff are great. It's peaceful, secure, electronic key to room. A home away from home. Rooms have pvt balcony and ensuite. It's clean with a lovely courtyard. The beds are very comfortable, with proper mattresses. It's not a party hostel so you can actually get a good night's sleep. More like a hotel than a backpackers. It's a very short walk to the beach. I didn't know such a place existed, best backpackers I've ever stayed at.

Everything is great here minus the rooms themselves. Rooms are cramped. The kitchen and common rooms more than make up for it though. People at front desk are very nice and helpful. Location is great if you like the beach and clubs/pubs.

Close to the heart of Surfers Paradise and the beach, right next to Q1 — Australia's tallest building. Decent rooms with balcony. Can be quiet off seqson.

Nice hostel on a very good location in Surfers Paradise. The rooms are clean, bathroom could be a bit cleaner but was still alright. Good Wi-Fi in the common area but no Wi-Fi in the rooms. Staff is very friendly.

I don't like the room, but it is still a suitable place for travelers in Gold Coast. I have to say the location is awesome, it just near the sky point building and Surfers Paradise beach, which also can be easily reached while you get off the light rail. However, the room is narrow even without a table. It is worse than YHA in Canberra which I used to stay at, as the same price. If you choose to stay here, you should take care the bathroom closed while showering, the fire detector might generate 1500 AUD for penalty! It might be impossible for a rich person to choose there for staying, so please be careful!

Very friendly place. Nice rooms, free Wi-Fi, coffee, sauna, pool, and laundry. Loved it.

The most awful place I've ever seen, DIRTY, LOTS OF KAKROCHS, JERMS, MOSQUITOS, FLYS.

A gr8 place, just a quick walk to the beach and main beach, to the shopping villages. Has been bought out and renovated just this season.

We stayed here for a week in early March 2012. The room was good value for money @ $60 for a 2 bed room. Room was spartan and shabby but still good value for money. Our bathroom window opened onto the neighbouring rooms balcony, I can only hope our showering didn't disturb our neighbours too much! Good service and facilities, the kitchen met our needs well enough. Got some good advice about local stuff from staff and bought a few drinks from the onsite bar. My girlfriend got bitten by bugs alot, don't know if thats the backpackers or her problem though as we kept the door open at night. Free Wi-Fi was very good, they had some cool activities planned 3 nights a week also. Would stay there again, good value for money.

I would definitely recommend it! Very cheap and three of us got our own room! Everything was clean and we had a balcony. Not much of a view but hey for $20 a night that's fine with me. Besides, the beach is just a block and a half away. They were playing Lord of the Rings when we came in, so bonus points for that! Just a short walk away from Clubs, Restaurants, everything.

Was fairly unclean, our room door was impossible to open. Staff were all nice, no worries there. Room got overbooked so found people in our beds one night. It's Website is very misleading.
