Delighted! Welcoming staff and small care. The room is spacious and the bedding comfortable. The bathroom is clean, hot water at will. Possible to leave the air conditioning on leaving. Breakfast is plentiful. Safe with key. Free Concierge Service. Perfect location to visit Hanoi. Excellent value for money.

Very nice hotel, ideally situated close to the center of Hanoi in a quiet street. A super team very helpful and very kind who helped us in many different ways.

Stood here for two days. The location is Not directly in old quarter but to visit Hanoi, old quarter, French quarter and eat real vietnamese street food, it is perfect. The room was clean the staff is friendly and the breakfast delicious. Would go there again.

Great location to get to different parts of the city. Room on the 7floor large, bright and quiet. Kettle in room, welcome set and daily housekeeping. The staff was very helpful Laundry service and tasty breakfast.

Top staff at urban alley, organised us transfers, stored our luggage, were always interested in our stay and how they could make it better. Their breakfast was the best we have had in Vietnam! Wi-Fi is great and had no power issues as reported in other areas. Location is top, a short walk from the lake pagoda and walking street.

Perfect location, big clean rooms with city views. And extremely helpful staff with lovely ladies cooking breakfast every morning. Stayed here twice and will again.

Not far from the lake returned the sword. Large rooms. Clean. Breakfast was good. No choice.

Upon booking I had asked for for a quiet room, which they had arranged for me once I had arrived (9th floor). The staff were welcoming and since it was my first time in Hanoi they gave me a map with a list of locations to visit. One of the guys in reception also give me a lift to the gym even though it was out of his way and asked for nothing in return for it. The staff really went beyond what I initially expected. The room itself was spotless and alot better than I anticipated for how cheap it was, not to mention the location was in a quiet, cosy alley while being in a perfect location that was in walking distance to cafes and other landmarks.

Great service, Rooms are better than you'd expect for the prices. The customer service is great they will go through great lengths to help you with whatever you need. There will be some discrepancies some people won't like but I've stayed in places in the United States that are more expensive with less to offer.

I originally booked this hotel as a base to visit other places in Vietnam and returned and stayed twice within 15 days. The staff are friendly, really helpful and go further than they really need. They can advise you on places to see on certain types of day, they held my bag for three nights while l was away from Hanoi and were so understanding. The rooms I've stayed in are impeccable so l don't see the hygiene problem at all. I've frequently travelled globally and this hotel is up there. The only thing wrong with this hotel is that Vietnamese might not speak your lingo so it's a little difficult to find. A screenshot on Google would have been a simple solution. All in all l can't fault the staff, room, hygiene or efficiency. See for yourself.

We stayed in the family room with our one year old baby. 1) The room is dirty There is dust everywhere you touch. There is old dried food crumbs on the floor. There is what appears to be liquid or food stains on the TV cabinet. The floor hasn't been mopped, you know how your feet get dirty after walking on dusty floors? Under the bed it's horrendous. 2) The room is smelly. It's the musty smell of an old room that hasn't been cleaned and hasn't been aired out. 3) The linen is old, mouldy and disgusting. The pillows are smelly, the linen is so old it's ripped. 4) The air con is smelly and noisy. You can't adjust the fan speed to make it quiet. It's the sound of the the old fans hitting something inside the unit. It blows directly over our bed where baby is, it's either too cold or too hot if we turn it off. 5) The bathroom It's really bad. It's so smelly. It smells like a public toilet. Taps and shower heads are rusted. It wasn't cleaned properly before we got here. 6) The kitchen on ground floor. I simply have never seen anything like it. I brought my baby's dinner down to heat it up, everything I touched was sticky. It was filthy, absolutely disgusting. It must not have been cleaned, ever. It actually made me sick looking at the state it was in, I lost my appetite so ended up not eating dinner after that. I am just hoping my baby didn't catch disease from all of this.

I had the pleasure of staying this lovely hotel with friendly HONEST staff. They made a big innocent error on my credit card bill but contacted me shortly after before I even knew about it the error. They were apologetic and made the correct refunds to my card. Will definitely stay here again!

I can't say enough about the Hanoi Grand Hotel. Although the hotel itself is fairly small, including the lobby area, we found the room (a King Deluxe) to be very comfortable for 2 adults. The rooms are well appointed and extremely good value for this price. The free Wi-Fi is a plus, internet worked fine, nice, large flat-screen TV, a very comfortable bed. I am picky about hotels, especially bathrooms and I didn't have one complaint about this one. The bathrooms were all marble and the cleaning staff did a great job keeping our room clean. The staff were friendly and though they seemed like they'd been doing this for years, they treated me as if I was the only person there. They helped us book our trip to Halong Bay. After the trip, we even decided to stay one more night to enjoy the confort of this place. One of the best things was that it was very quiet. Considering we are in a busy area, we could not hear any of the noise on the streets. Overall a great value though, and I would recommend if you want to stay in a smaller modern Boutique style hotel.

After reading everyone else's review, I felt confident about choosing the Hanoi Grand Hotel. Really an upper class hotel at affordable prices. The hotel was very convenient to all the major attractions, night market, Museum, shopping street, many nice restaurants within walking distance. It was fantastic! The room was huge and extremely clean, the beds were amazing — not bouncy but very snug with warm linens. I slept better there than I have in years in my own house. I don't know what kind of mattress that was but it felt like I was being cradled. There is "free" high-speed internet service. The bathroom amenities are above average. The front desk staff and housekeeping couldn't have been more friendlier or helpful! For rainy days, there is an umbrella at the front door. This is a hotel where you can do all you want during the day and have a nice place to relax when you are return. This was my base from which I travelled to Sapa, then to Halong Bay, Ninh Binh and so on. Ms Rose and her enthusiastic, professional team advised me and assisted me with travel bookings &transfers. All in all this is the best stay i've had in the city and price permitting I will be staying here whenever I visit Hanoi. Well done Hanoi Grand, keep it up.

Hotel is fine and old but the location was terrible and very far from the Old Quarter. Staff are not honest and too pushy. Night staff chatted sex in front of guests. Keep far away from this hotel.
