Aponye Hotel

It's a very good hotel on top of Megha standard supermarket.

This place is going down.
2 years ago it was decent with great manager.
This year management changed and everything is going downhill.
New manager thinks about saving money only and has no idea about of customer service.
Breakfast is very frugal. One waitress is very rude and not attentive. Why keeping bad staff?
Wifi is poor too and not always stable.
Cleaning lady does her best and is great.
Receptionists do their best too but they cant take decisions and have to report problems to the manager which leads to complete waste of time.
Security often asks for money out of the blue which can be annoying.
Lift still not working so you better be in good shape to reach your room on 5th floor.

This is a great place for the price. Location is right downtown with quick access on foot to Arua park, shopping malls, bus stations, and much more. Staff are very respectful. I tried them once and have since made it my favorite stop whenever I visit Uganda. They have a special breakfast called Katogo. Try it for an extra buck. The only challenge is that the elevator doesn't work. This means you have to climb several stairs to reach the hotel. This is no problem to me as I took it as part of an exercise daily. The security staff helped me carry my bags up and downstairs when leaving, though. I needed to change my room a few times, and they did that at ease with no further questions.
