Hadn't been for a couple of years after a bad meal. Wow what a turnaround. Had excellent Sunday roast followed by lovely dessert. Good real ales, will be back soon. Great.

Attended a wedding reception… on the 15th July 2018… Very sunny day… The place is Gorgeous… The staff were polite and the food was Brilliant loved the Area and how everything is set out in function rooms… would recommend this place for weddings 10 out of 10…

Yesterday I took my parents and autistic son for Sunday lunch at The Woodman Inn. Having frequented quite a lot of venues for Sunday lunch I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I have had thus far! The staff went out of their way to ensure that my son who has lots of needs were met and were very attentive throughout our meal. Service was excellent, food was an absolute delight and the atmosphere was wonderful. Will definitely be visiting again… would highly recommend going if you haven't already. Thank you so much to all the lovely staff for making our afternoon a fabulous one! P. S… we thought the prices for lunch were perfect…

Lovely find! Really do like a good inn and this is a great one. Location spot on helped even more by the glorious weather. Dinner was lovely, if a little slow at times, made up for by the lovely staff. The team from check in to check out were lovely… a credit it you Woodman Inn. Only feedback would be the pillows were a bit high/hard and I thought the room was a bit overpriced… only a bit though. Overall a great experience. Thank you!

First class service from start to finish friendly and polite helpful staff. Food on the night first class, and breakfast first class. Rooms clean Beds very comfortable. Will book again when visit this area of Huddersfield in the near future.

A bit busy as there was a wedding going on but the food was lovely. Starter, main and cheeseboard. Great location and surroundings, good outdoor seating and nice wine. Friendly attentive staff.

Got married at this beautiful inn. Such a nice peaceful place. Excellent food and the drink. And the staff members just can't do enough for you.

Lovely venue and setting for a wedding but watch out for the bar staff short changing people. This happened to me on a couple of occasions and when being served by different members of staff. When challenged it was passed off an an honest mistake but I found that hard to believe. I would suggest the management should pick this up with the team. That aside; the food was great and the facilities were good.

We photographed a beautiful wedding at the Woodman yesterday. What a lovely venue — Jordan and his staff were so, so helpful and made the couple's day absolutely perfect. They were also a great to us and made sure we were well looked after all day. We cannot wait to work here again, we have more weddings booked here and would love to book in even more. What a delightful Inn in a lovely location. Excellent food, drinks and service with a smile. The Richmond suite is just perfect for family stay!

Great place to perform as an artist / band I have performed numerous events at this venue, weddings, events, BBQ and also just sat and ate food, great staff, Jordan, Hannah & Rob are great folk, always welcoming and on the ball. Drinks / cocktails are great. Audience who sit and listen. Fantastic venue.

I'm sorry, but I was disappointed by my meal tonight. The fish pie, though excellent was served in a cast iron dish of less than 5 inches internal diameter. The prawns were tiny, to match the dish. It was not worth the money (£18 as I recall} for such a small main course. The manager did not appear to care what I felt about the meal and service.

Fantastic environment and room. Evening meal was the Sunday lunch menu but chef was just to tailor for gluten free needs. Excellent food.

Amazing food. Amazing cozy log fire. And absolutely fantastic staff. Very attentive. Made us feel right at home.

After getting married here last year (and having visited frequently over last 14 years as lived in the village) we came to celebrate (belated) our joint 50th birthdays (courtesy of family). We both had rib eye — and it was cooked to perfection! Fab. However, after the amazing food at our wedding we were a little underwhelmed by the starters — the pheasant was delicious but a bit cold and the beef cheek ravioli was just a little bland. Desserts were great. All in all a lovely evening — thanks.

Had a really lovely meal on Christmas Eve but the service was poor, having a long wait to order drinks at the table only to have a bottle of wine placed on the table with top still secured and no taster offered. 2 or 3 staff were too busy getting tables ready for next day which left eating guests waiting. Such a shame as a beautiful setting and excellent menu but let down by poor service.

My wife and I were attending an event in Huddersfield and decided to treat ourselves and book a Superior suite at The Woodman. The description of the suite sounded exactly what we wanted. We booked the suite about three days prior to our trip and there were various rooms, suites etc available at the hotel. We Traveled our 5 plus hour trip from Essex to arrive at the hotel in the evening. On arrival we noticed that the hotel is in a quiet location (which is exactly what we wanted) but to our amazement there were a large number of people outside/Inside and generally about the hotel, there were cars parked everywhere and a lot of noise in and around the hotel. We had traveled a long way so we went inside to check in (after parking some distance away) We had to fight our way to the bar which was full of young people drinking and shouting with loud music playing. We spoke to a man at the bar who rushed us upstairs to our room and rushed away again. We then noticed that we had been given a standard double room and not a suite. There were people running up and down the corridor and we could hear someone vomiting nearby. It was crazy. We went back to the bar to state that we had not been allocated the suite we booked and to tell the staff there was no way we could stay in this place.

We spent a lovely autumn afternoon and late lunch in front of the fire at this country gastro pub. Overall it was just what we were looking for. Set in a valley of trees changing colour and dappled light. The service was excellent, the food and ambiance were great.

The venue was a lovely venue for a wedding. Staff were proficient and attentive and the food was excellent.

Very cozy bar and venue. Went to view as a possible wedding location, but function room quite small and bar would always be open public. Cute little bungalows to rent too.

Nice quiet and friendly place in a beautiful village. Plenty of parking nice menu and reasonable pricing for the most part.

Lovely place, rooms and bar are very nice. The conservatory and garden are lovely. Food was excellent.

Nice lunch with friends. Had the set menu. Ham Hock Terrine followed by the lamb and then sticky toffee pudding. The ham hock came with two tiny pieces of toast, could have done with more… the Lamb was faultless as was the sticky toffee pudding. 1

Unfortunately it's difficult for me to provide a comprehensive review as we went to a wedding fair to view it as a potential venue. We didn't stay or anything like that, hence hard for me to review. Lovely place though, and the only reason it's unsuitable for us as a wedding venue is that the wedding 'area' is upstairs, and we have guests which are disabled.

The inn is absolutely gorgeous and in a beautiful setting. Whilst we had a fantastic evening with friends and family it was spoilt by the bar/serving staff. Dennis was the only friendly / willing staff member. We often staff in hotels and I can honestly say it was the worse service I have ever received. My mother in law was grunted at by one member who didn't even do as was asked. The breakfast was poor and we had to wait ages. Such a shame as it is a perfect place in a perfect location. But the staff were rude lazy and tbh very hard to find. I'd sack the lot of them. If it wasn't for the hard working Dennis we would prob still be waiting for our breakfast.

Came for a wedding here. Rooms excellent — like being in a little village. Staff extremely accommodating and friendly — nothing too much trouble. Service excellent. Food! Totally amazing tasty mouth watering well presented too class menu. And at £20 for three courses very very reasonable! And good value. Well done and keep up the good work. I highly recommend this place.

Went this afternoon for a meal, very friendly service. A simplistic menu and was very tasty and presented well.

Oh dear, very disappointed, rude guy behind the bar, no customer service. Went to check it out for a potential wedding!

Great food and great locals.

We went for an evening meal after a 2 hour car journey. We had booked ahead and just as well as the bar area was absolutely packed. I wormed my way to the bar and mentioned our booking and within 5 minutes we were sat with our drinks and awaiting our starters. We all four ordered different meals, each one was excellent (even my mother-in law liked all her food which is a first in the 15 years I have known her). The service was both polite and efficient. The staff were attentive and patient and catered well to the special needs of one of our party. As we were staying in the area we booked again for the following evening as we left and were not disappointed on that night either. I only wished it was not a 2 hour drive from home.

Had the most lovely stay at The Woodman at the weekend. Dinner was beautiful, I can highly recommend you leave room for dessert. Our room was lovely too, some really nice touches. Not often you get to say that everything was excellent. Will definitely be visiting again.

The Woodman Inn has had a gorgeous refurb recently, in the pub downstairs and in the restaurant upstairs. The upstairs restaurant in particular is stunning with soft furnishings in duck egg blues and creams and a baby grand piano! It's set in a really picturesque spot and you'd hardly believe it's just 6 miles out of the centre of Huddersfield. It was a lovely surprise too to find Temple Spa toiletries in my room — highly recommended.

Rooms have been refurbished to an excellent standard which made for a very comfortable stay. Friendly staff, excellent food, good ales and a great atmosphere gave us a very pleasant experience and we would definitely stay again.

We stayed overnight recently but unfortunately we were given one of the rooms which had not been refurbished. It really was quite disgusting! Carpet had lots of dirty marks on it, the only sign of a TV was a cable dangling from the wall with a TV socket on the end of it! The bathroom floor was engrained with dirt and stained and the shower head spewed more water out of the top if it than through the shower head. They were fully booked and we arrived from Scotland to attend a function and had not time to find alternative accommodation and it was just for one night. The MOST upsetting thing was that when we paid we complained to the manager and although he did give us a vague apology he was not really interested in what we said and did not offer any reduction and suggested we come back in June when these rooms would be refurbished. The room should not have been let out. The staff were all really nice and the food was excellent but the manager and his attitude really spoilt it for us and we would not go back.

Splendid hostelery, 1st. Class food, fabulous accommodation, traditional cask conditioned ale at its finest.
