Review of Hellaby Hall Hotel; BW Signature Collection 4*

Lovely oasis just off the main road — impressive building. On arrival we were shown to our rooms — which were very tired and disappointing — but a quick trip back to reception was all it took to sort it out. Reception was initially reluctant to move us but the Manager Peter was passing by reception at the time and he suggested he come to our rooms and see the problems first hand. He was surprised & disappointed at the poor condition of the rooms we had been allocated and quickly arranged a transfer to some newly refurbished rooms — which are more expensive — at no additional cost to us. We were very pleased with both his attitude and his passion to put things right asap. These rooms were far superior and our spirits were immediately lifted. We had made a reservation in the restaurant where we were meeting some relatives. There we had a delicious 3 course meal and everything we chose was very, very good — both in presentation (we took a picture of every plate! ) — and in taste — it really was a lovely meal and made the evening into quite a special occasion. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble — special mention to Catherine — who was the restaurant manager and who patiently and cheerfully made our night with her good humour over our bill — I'm sure she will remember us! Finally we must mention Rae — the young lady on reception who dealt with us at checkout she was extremely helpful and efficient. All in all a lovely experience and we would stay here again when we next visit the area.
