Nice hotel with a very old front building. Quite unique. Staff was nice. Wi-Fi working well. Some items such as carpets were noticeably dated. The elevator needs clear refurbishment. Definitely 4 stars once the last two points are sorted.

I got married at Hellaby Hall on Thursday 19th July 2018 and I stayed the night before in the Fretwell Suite. From the moment I arrived everything was perfect. Chloe my wedding coordinator was fantastic she helped me the whole way through. Also weddings by dragonfly who work with Hellaby Hall were fantastic nothing was too much trouble. On the day of my wedding I didn’t need to worry about anything as Chloe and my master if ceremony’s Dave had everything covered, Dave was an absolute gent and helped to calm my nerves he was a superstar. I would recommend anyone to get married there and the food was brilliant. Thank you for the most amazing day of our lives. Kindest regards Mrs Janine Kirkland.

Lovely period house looking a little tired in some places outside, but inside and the grounds are great in my opinion. Great leisure facilities on offer Inc loads of parking spaces. Staff are friendly the the buffet breakfast was hot and lots of it too. Cheep for a night away, if you use sat nav look out for the hotel signs or you will take an interesting trip around the industrial estate behind the hall. Suprise yourself dont forget your swim / gym stuff.

Underwhelmed at my afternoon tea experience. No atmosphere/ambience. Lacking in everything that the term afternoon tea conjures up in the imagination. Understandably the wedding taking place should take precedence but we felt isolated and inconsequential. There should still have been sufficient staff in attendance for other guests. Quite frankly the description of afternoon tea is a total misnomer as the standard & quality was far below the value for money in many other venues. Disappointing visit.

Everyone clearly made the effort to be very helpful, not always successfully, but always with a very positive attitude. Prices are a bit higher than you might expect … 1 pound 20 for a packet of peanuts in the bar. Laundry was almost as expensive as London. There is a lack of training with some of the bar staff if you compare it to most upscale restaurants. Don't pour a full glass of wine from a bottle without offering a taste to verify quality first. Beautiful environment, having the opportunity for a beer in the garden was wonderful. If you needed help with anything they are willing to go it off their way to make it happen! They are just short of making a good place great!

Stayed as overnight guest, ample parking, large room very comfortable, excellent gym with plenty of equipment and workout areas. Nice pool with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room all well presented. Changing rooms could really benefit from a refurbishment. Overall nice atmosphere and staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Well done.

Absolutely lovely venue, both me and my partner went for a wedding fayre and they made u feel so welcome and couldn't be more helpful.

Very tired room. A ridiculous distance from reception (entrances). Hotel serious understaffed. How this got a AA 4 start is beyond me. I visit the arena a lot and will not be very keen to go back here. I was fooled by the pictures from the WEB site. Not expensive but not value for money.

Nice rooms and great facilities but if you want spa treatments you have to book well in advance.

Can we go less than 1 star? TLDR — it's expensive, horrid and dirty, avoid like the plague! Hellaby Hall was absolutely awful. We were in a big party, and by the time we arrived there had already been problems with the booking — the online booking hadn't worked and we didn't have any rooms. Our first room had problems with the drainage — water couldn't flow out of the bath, and the whole room stank. I had a quick chat with the reception staff and our room was changed, but, once again, same problem (something I later found out was an issue with another member in our party, their toilet leaked… yum! ) So once again a chat with the reception team and now a free upgrade… to a room that hadn't been cleaned, had stained towels, white gunk stuck top the headboard and glasses that hadn't been washed, disgusting. We had 3 attempts with the staff before we could get clean towels! Each time, the 'new towels' had stains on them. Things unfortunately didn't improve at dinner. The service was slow, the food was mediocre and dishes were missing. Steaks were under or overcooked (how hard is it to cook steak right? ), and to cap this off it was expensive! After our meal we went to the lounge for drinks, a few glasses hadn't been cleaned, yum yum lipstick stains, and the barman tried desperately to off a cheap half drunk bottle of Prosecco that someone else had already bought, onto us, just weird.

Lovely spa day at Hellaby Hall/Fretwell Spa :) Despite work taking place the service was attentive and very friendly. Treatment rooms were immaculate and on another level to the pool/gym/steam room facilities. However all were smart and more than functional.

Had a lovely time at a hen party. Room was comfortable & spacious but a bit hot. Good service if a little slow at times. Really nice food, especially breakfast!

Having visited this hotel twice I have mixed reviews. The staff are very welcoming and the communal areas are grand and pleasant. However, whilst the room I stayed in was clean, it was small and in need of a refresh. I visited the spa on both my visits. The sauna and steam room are some of the best I have been in, well lit and a beautiful smell. The pool and jacuzzi however were very cold, too cold to enjoy. Upon mentioning this to the staff, they said that this is the temperature that it is set to. For functions and weddings, this is a great venue but for a weekend retreat, I'd give it a miss.

The food was excellent. Very very nice. The only issue was that we had to ask for us to be served drinks. They were busy though. Apart from that faultless.

Really nice hotel, nice rooms, nice staff, great breakfast and pretty good gym. The location is a bit strange if using a sat nav, it takes you to the back of the hotel, which there is a sign informing you to go to the other entrance. I would definitely go back here, it is good value for money and sizeable enough that I could almost guarantee a room when I book. All in all a recommendation of YES!

Hellaby hall has a bit of a hogwartz feel about it, there's 20 different ways to get to the same place, the parking is good, the booking, check in were easy and the staff are polite and friendly. The rooms are okay, they have TV, plug sockets, kettle iron, good Wi-Fi and all the usual amenities you'd expect for a low cost corporate accomodating hotel. The beds are okay not the best I've slept in but not the worst either. Breakfast was great and very accomodating, dinner however was not very good, the vegetarian option was not very good, there is also a spa and gym here however I have yet to try them out. All in all a good place to stay for corporate ebents.

Very nice venue well turned out and well maintained. We went here for a wedding, whilst the staff tried to help they lacked enough efficiency and they were very under staffed Maybe some extra staff and training would be good. Rooms were very nice and the bed was comfortable, Wi-Fi was not strong enough for us to connect to throughout the hotel which was poor as 3g was equally bad.

Accomodation good but the puddings at our event meal were no less than vile. A crème brulee and chocolate tart were only tasted by the seven people on our table. Also as we didn't book breakfast and we were charged £12 each. That's wasn't clear from their web site nor booking sites which gave the impression breakfast was £7.50

The hotel is really easy to get to just 1 minute off the M18. The room we stayed in on the ground floor was a family room and was spacious, with two double beds, a small table and two chairs. Usual tea and coffee facilities and a packet of biscuits. I liked how there was an iron and ironing board available as well as a hair dryer and Freeview digital TV. We had a very large and powerful walk in shower, which took a while to deliver hot water. We learned other guests had had no hot water. It might have just been a glitch that one morning. We stayed for an evening meal at the restaurant which was very tasty. Sirloin steak, peppercorn sauce, huge chips and onions rings. However, it took over 45 minutes to get the meal even though the restaurant seemed really quiet. Breakfast is a self serve buffet style with a very good selection including cereals, fruits, pastries and cooked items too. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Other than an unexplained very long wait for a meal (which was delicious when it came) we had a lovely stay.

We have come for a spa day and overnight stay, the offer we got was really worth it, staff nice and friendly and the food 10 out 10 for us. Definitely will be coming back.

Poor hotel room and with poor lighting on corridors. Hotel was very noisy at night and was damp. Spa was good but hotel was diabolical it's as simple as that.

Very nice, great staff, good pool and gym. Some areas undergoing refurbishment, our room was excellent.

Very welcoming. Great value deals on accommodation. Clean modern decor. Only downsides are that there is no cask beer and it's a little noisy in the corridors at night. But overall great experience.

Stayed for a hen do, had a meal in the restaurant, food was horrendous; several of us sent it back, slow service; took 30 mins just to get a drink. At least the room was okay but wouldn't stay again!

The landscaped gardens are beautiful, the rooms are dated with fading woodwork, the beds uncomfortable and sagg not very firm, so if you have any back issues this is probably not the place to stay. We wanted a touch of luxury as this was a honeymoon break, (specified in booking form) this didn't meet our expectations. Asked to be moved and no other upgrade options available. Lifts old buttons in bad condition, creeky. No glasses in room! Just gonna try food in restaurant Unfortunatly the view out of our window was a tree. We were enjoying a drink outside and got asked to move, so that a wedding photograph could take 10 shots!

The hotel was very nice. We dined one night, the food was really good. The staff were friendly and very helpful, a staff member called Wendy went out of her way to ensure we had the things we needed.

I went for my cousins wedding, the staff were amazing the room was also clean and very high quality. We will be returning in the future maybe to try the spa.

The hotel was very nice and clean and the food was lovely. The only downside was that I attended a social event and the music could be heard from the room next door which was another event going on and they could likely hear our music too. The rooms could have been better sound proofed to avoid this. Other than that the staff were friendly and it was a pleasant stay.

Paid for a room through Expedia in full then on check in they have taken the payment again! So I've actually paid for the room twice really not worth £200 a night. Awaiting refund.

Great hotel, can't fault it. Only let down is the over inflated price for beer, at £4.75 a pint.

Haven't stayed here but had a business meeting, staff were friendly and helpful.

Hotel room and bathroom was a great size, tidy however bathroom was dirty mainly the bath. Restaurant service was terrible, food was fantastic once they eventually got the order right, ordered drink before the starter however got the starter first (wasn't busy either) myself and partner booked a full body massage was in the same amount of time however I didn't get a full body only half of what he got. Actual pool/sauna/steam room area was clean and fantastic however no adult part of the pool and kids swimming classes on all day (not quite the relaxing spa experience more like a kids pool party) would stay again as just a bed and breakfast but would go else where for evening meal and spa treatments.

An excellent hotel food superb with friendly staff. Only bone of contention is the cleaners not doing there job correctly.

Lovely oasis just off the main road — impressive building. On arrival we were shown to our rooms — which were very tired and disappointing — but a quick trip back to reception was all it took to sort it out. Reception was initially reluctant to move us but the Manager Peter was passing by reception at the time and he suggested he come to our rooms and see the problems first hand. He was surprised & disappointed at the poor condition of the rooms we had been allocated and quickly arranged a transfer to some newly refurbished rooms — which are more expensive — at no additional cost to us. We were very pleased with both his attitude and his passion to put things right asap. These rooms were far superior and our spirits were immediately lifted. We had made a reservation in the restaurant where we were meeting some relatives. There we had a delicious 3 course meal and everything we chose was very, very good — both in presentation (we took a picture of every plate! ) — and in taste — it really was a lovely meal and made the evening into quite a special occasion. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble — special mention to Catherine — who was the restaurant manager and who patiently and cheerfully made our night with her good humour over our bill — I'm sure she will remember us! Finally we must mention Rae — the young lady on reception who dealt with us at checkout she was extremely helpful and efficient.

Went with large family. Lovely and informative staff esp in restaurant. Very child friendly and accomodating. Beautiful rooms. Excellent facilities. Kids had a great time. Would definitely go again when in yorkshire next.

Hotel rooms are ok, staff seem friendly enough, the thing that really lets the hotel down is the food, abysmal does not describe what is dished up at the bar. A Chef who is not intetested in customer comments and management frightened to sort out the issues. Breakfast is as poor with some food overcooked and some I would describe as raw. The cerial is a good safe option.

Rooms are good quality, and the location is very good, straight off the motorway and near Rotherham. Food is not the best. Describes itself as 'a la carte'. But is anything but. Staff are friendly and very helpful. There is also a gym which looked well maintained.

Lovely quiet girlie weekend. Lovely staff lovely room will definitely return.

Nice hotel with generally good facilities but the restaurant is a soul-less barn of a place and some of the serving staff are most interested in gossiping with colleagues than serving — and breakfast tea/coffee served in urns — really.
