An outstanding hotel with great facilities. The hotel is clean, spacious and not to big or small. It's very cosy and the staff are very helpful and polite. I was only there for the one night but met 3 receptionists in my time there who were very helpful in making our stay the most enjoyable it could be in the short period. They advised the best places to visit in York and were very helpful in suggesting where to go for a nice drink in the evening. The hotel rooms them self are outstanding. Very spacious/ clean and structured. The beds are very comfortable, the TV is a great size, the bathroom had a very spacious bath/ shower with designer toiletries available at no cost. The particular room we stayed in looked out onto the Walls/ museum gardens which was lovely views to wake up to. I would highly recommend staying here if your looking for somewhere peaceful within only a few minute walks to the nearest York attractions.

Great location directly next to the museums gardens, friendly staff and very clean fresh feel about the hotel. The only thing I could say is that we stayed for 2 nights but there was no room clean after the first night. This is only a minor thing though everything else was spot on.

Lovely spacious room, very clean and comfortable with everything you might need, friendly, helpful staff, the only place we would stay for future visits.

Lovely hotel, full of moomin items which I wasn't expecting but adored. Roll top bath and beautiful bay window in our room which felt very luxurious for the price. Central location and staff were charming and helpful. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at Jorvik house for just one night but we found the rooms and service to be excellent. The hotel is situated across from an entrance to the museum gardens which after walking across brings you out into the city center. The rooms are modern and have everything you'd expect. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic hotel in an amazing location, just metres from the Museum Gardens. Short walk into York town centre, not far from the shambles and the minster. Very comfy bed and beautiful decor. Would highly recommend!

Amazing hotel, stayed for 2 nights. Room was a perfect size, great facilities (internet TV, coffee making station and fridge). Perfect location, only a 5 minute walk to the city center. Only faults were that we couldn't get the room to warm up, the Wi-Fi didn't work (kept losing signal or not picking it up at all) but this was overlooked and still had an amazing time regardless! Highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel and the refurb in amazing. Quality textiles and furnishings. Nothing has been skimped on. The room caters for everything, iron, hairdryer, magnified mirror, glasses for all tipples, mood lighting, mini bar and snacks, coffee machine, sweets and helpful information book. The shower is fantastic and very roomy. The entrance of the hotel is very welcoming as are the staff… a very helpful young man. Can't fault anything about this place. A gem of an hotel. Thankyou.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. I had the luxury double room for two nights. The room is a bit small but the modern furniture and the impeccable service makes up for that. The location is great, everything is within walking distance. Wonderful. Very pleased.

Stayed in the loft room, nicely decorated and equipped, however slight let-downs. Small carpet stain, squeaky bathroom tap and TV positioned lower than bed. Excellent location and great value considering what's offered.

A nice room and ideal location. The heating in the room could be improved in deep winter. Apart from that, an excellent hotel.

Stayed here in November, it's a lovely place really close to the city walls and only a couple of minutes walk from the city and river. Nice friendly staff and the room we stayed in was clean and well designed. There is complementary coffee and teas in the room as well as a bath and shower room and TV.

Location is spot on just next to the museum and walking distance to all of York city centres bars restaurants and shops. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are really nicely decorated with excellent facilities especially the mini bar we stayed in the front and it was quiet during the night. We had prosecco on arrival to celebrate our honeymoon they made sure we had an excellent few nights. There is a public car park round the back around 10 pound a night it's basically a perfect boutique hotel. Will be staying again.

12 Months ago I booked 4 rooms for the last weekend in September this year for me and my family members to attend a family wedding in York City centre. It looked ideal, the website looked good, and the facilities on offer included a breakfast room, with full breakfast facilities and it was local to where the wedding was too be held. I confirmed the booking three weeks before by telephone, and even spoke the week before to re-arrange one of the room bookings. Unfortunately what we got was not what we thought we were getting. The hotel is in the middle of refurbishment with work ongoing, we were not informed The rooms we were given were nothing like those advertised on the web-site (they refer to them as budget rooms) At no time was I told we were booking 'Budget rooms' I had just asked for rooms. The rooms were tired, old and some of the features broken, or worn. The door locks had what looked like plywood over them and the rooms numbers on bits of paper / plastic — all in all not a quality look at all. On top of this, there is no breakfast room. A small breakfast menu is provided with itemised costs and delivered to your room in a bag… As this weekend was all about a happy family get-together we were looking forward to sharing breakfast and conversation around a table. The cost of the rooms is high compared to other local hotels, with limited difference in the budget & non budget prices. I’m sure the non budget rooms may be very nice, if refurbished, but not ours.

The new rooms are amazing, everything you could need and a very well priced mini bar which is always a bonus. Myself and my husband had a fantastic stay for his birthday just over a month ago. We will definatly be back, looking forward to seeing the hotel finished, hope the rest of it is as well done as the rooms. Keep up the good work guys x x x.

Staff were fantastic, friendly and approachable, stayed for two nights had a brilliant weekend, hotel contributed to that, we had a lovely room was a good size and was wonderfully well finished, great value, paid a lot more money for rooms/service which was far worse, the hotel was a short walk from the centre of York ideally positioned for anyone visiting the museums and attractions, overall one of the best hotels I've stayed in in a long time.

Stayed here overnight. The room was clean, bright and modern. Seemed recently refurbished. Bit of noise from the street but nothing to disturbing. Would definitely visit again.

Great location, hotel has just been refurbished with great style, bathroom was beautiful, bed was a little bit too hard for me but slept well. Nice walk through museum gardens into the centre of York feeding squirrels on the way. Stayed here for 2 nights would definitely return and recommend.

Delightful hotel situated opposite the gates to the museum gardens. We had the warmest welcome we've ever had at a hotel as three little dogs rushed to say hello! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. A lovely hotel in a lovely location.

An excellent location. Stayed here many many times and thought it was great but now they have started to refurbish rooms and they are fantastic! Lots of little luxuries and attention to detail make the stay even better than usual. Staff are always very friendly and professional. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting York.

Our stay was fantastic! We stayed in the loft suite and it was amazing! The room was huge, the bed was so comfy and the decor was so great! The bathroom was amazing too! I was panicking about staying on my own with my 2 year old daughter but the staff were so welcoming and helped so much! I can't wait to stay again!

Clean friendly and good location. Well worth the money.

Pretty good hotel. Nice location near end of road means quiet stay. Very close to Yorkshire Museum. Combination of old building with new extensions. Separate bar and dining. Breakfast a bit lacklustre, and slow. A little expensive, but reasonable value. Traffic and parking is very difficult and expensive. If you can manage without car in York then do so.

Fantastic two nights stay. We stayed in room 2. And we were made to feel very welcome. And breakfasts were spot on. Would definitely recommend staying there. Can't wait to go back.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Staff are wonderful the rooms are absolutely purrfect! I went with my mum for a 2 day shopping holiday and we stayed in room 10 it was that fabulous we tried to rebook the room for another night, but we rebooked again as soon as we got home! 5********.

Nice place. Clean and tidy. Parking is Expensive at £11 for 24 hours and a five minute walk round the corner to a large open car park. I would use the hotel again but would have liked it to have been quiet later on in the night when other guests begin to come in after visiting the local public houses.

Stayed there for one night very clean n tidy.
