Bed and Breakfast

We have just come back after a weekend stay. The house is decorated so elegantly. We had contential breakfast delivered to our room the first morning and was lovely. 2nd morning we dined and had a cooked breakfast. Hosts were friendly and full of knowledge. The have made check in very easy with the current covid and are well above the legislation. We cant wait to return. Staff were amazing. Thank you for making our stay so lovely.

Absolutely loved our last minute stay at this B&B. They’ve simplified check in, it’s close to the city centre and transport links.
Our lower ground floor family room was so big and spacious, perfect for a family of four! Nothing was too much trouble for Simon and any issues, he was an the end of the phone. Fiona, was lovely over breakfast, so accommodating and friendly, full of personality and you can tell she loved what she did.
The B&B is decorated beautifully from the hallway, lounge, dining room and bedrooms — it was so clean and well kept throughout. I can’t wait to come and stay again!

Cozy, clean, welcoming, and breakfast to linger over! I want to go back so badly! Location is ideal in a residential area, yet, close to shops and restaurants. Walking in the neighbourhood is a pleasure. A walking path also goes to the train station — I think it was about 15 minutes. Anyway, I've traveled all over and this is the best B&B I have ever stayed at.

Wow. What a lovely Hidden Gem. Spotlessly clean. Really Enjoyed our Stay. Owner upgraded our room for our special night which was a really nice touch. Our room was Beautifully Decorated and cosy. Prefect breakfast Too. We will be back soon. Thank you for a lovely Night ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just perfect for us! Great location and easy walking distance to much of York.

Wonderful hostess, even stood out in the rain to guide us to our parking, beautiful room & building, a quick walk into the centre of York, excellent value!

We spent 6 wonderful days, Fiona & her staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay with them perfect, so close to all amenities, comfortable bed, immaculately clean, & breakfast choice was amazing Thankyou so much. X.

Lovely place to stay staff friendly rooms clean and tidy, great breakfast, 2 min walk to centre of York. Plenty of leaflets on York, places to eat. Plenty of ideas which haven't seen in other hotels. Would recommend to anyone a place to treasure!

We are staying here at the moment for 3 days the staff are amazing and nothing is to much trouble the toiletries and extras you get are fab mint chocolates on your beautiful clean folded towels every day packets of biscuits everyday tea coffee facilities and mugs not small cups all replenished everyday and they have a little honesty room where there are cans of coke and sweets plus cheese biscuits and you put 50p in the box now you can't get any better then that and the breakfast is amazing you can have as much as you want so if your thinking of coming to york give it a try it's imaculate and clean and about 10 mins walk from the shambles we would definitely come back when in york again.

Had to stay in York for a night due to unforeseen circumstances. Did a quick search online for affordable rooms not too far from the station, found 23 St Mary’s and booked straight away. Short though my time spent there was, I had a lovely stay. The room and en-suite bathroom were both very clean and the interior design was really tasteful and cozy, making it easy to feel just at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, almost too much so, making it a struggle to get up in the morning and not have a lie-in. ;) However, getting up in time for breakfast was well worth it as the cooked breakfast was delicious and the wee buffet had all you could ask for. All served with a nice, strong pot of tea, Yorkshire of course! If you’re more of a coffee-drinker though, don’t worry, coffee is available as well. Staff was really friendly and helpful and made you feel welcome and valued as a guest, nothing more you could ask for. All in all I had a great time and should I find my way back to York and take the time to explore the city a bit further, I’ll definitely know where to stay for the night! :)

We stayed for 3 nights in november for the christmas market everything about this guest house is top quality including the staff who could not do enough for you. Very highly recommended Mel & Pam.

My Mam, daughter and I came to st Mary's for 2 days, we stayed before a few years ago and had an enjoyable stay. This time was the best time we've stayed there. The staff were amazing friendly and really welcoming. I told them it was my birthday and Carol brought me an impromptu birthday cake out at breakfast and then decorated my room with balloons and birthday banners. Breakfast was lovely, my little girl loved her eggs and soldiers wearing wooly hats. The room was beautiful and quaint. The walk through the squirrel park to the shopping centre was an attraction in itself with wild squirrels and the 'squirrel man' (my daughter called him) fed them monkey nuts on a morning, we fed them as well which my daughter was over the moon with. We all had an amazing time and will be booking up again for our next Christmas shop! Thankyou to st Mary's staff for making our stay unforgettable Xxx.

Lovely place to stay Clean, quiet and only 5 minutes from the centre. Would definitely stay here again.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Fabulous breakfast and very pleasant and helpful staff.

The location was close to the centre of York and close to the train station. The room was clean and a good size with all amenities required for an overnight stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, you can tell they really care for their guests. The breakfast served was wonderful and plentiful (we ordered way too much! ) with lots of choice. Overall there was a very homely feel and we had an enjoyable time. The only thing I would say was negative was the shower, the pressure wasn't great unfortunately though is understandable for the size of the house. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends!

I just had to leave a review to let everyone know how beautiful and glamorous 23 St Mary's is we recently stayed there Myself, husband and little girl and it was a dream it really was we stayed one night but we plan to return here the 4 poster bed was so luxurious and felt like a star sleeping in it, our little girl loved the chaise lounge and the little touches in room made it so special but what we loved most was the staff everyone was so lovely and helpful on everything and genuinely nice people we look forward to returning love the Daglish's :) x.

Excellent stay, rooms are lovely. Staff very welcoming. Breakfast faultless. Location 10 minutes walk into city centre. Guaranteed parking is available if you book directly. Will definitely stay here again. Thanks to all the staff at St Mary's.

January 7th was passing though york and stayed for one night and how delighted we where with our choice. Very clean, nice room, excellent breakfast and was made very welcome from the moment we arrived to the following morning when we checked out, we will return when back this way from paul and julie.

This is a gem! It is a B&B with lovely clean airy rooms, at least ours was. We had a canopy bed, our first. The proprietors were extremely helpful. We got excellent directions and tips from Julie. There is a shortcut to the railway station over a walkway along a rail bridge. It is super convenient. The food at the included breakfast was perfect. This beautiful well maintained Victorian is Highly recommended.
