We stayed for a night on Boxing Day, very nice room & friendly service. Lovely old building that felt very 'Christmassy' with lots of lights, decorations & Xmas trees. The bed was very comfortable & the breakfast was perfect. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet stay in the Woking area, we'll certainly come back in the future.

We just just returned from a two night break, the hotel is just beautiful. But that is where the charm stopped for us, it should be one of the two, a hotel or a wedding venue whilst there, three weddings. The wedding take priority…. As they should but as guests you are completely cast aside, no booking for us dispute booking two years ago (cancelled 3 times due to COVID, absolutely no fault of their own, however a month after the place had shut during lockdown, our two night break voucher had been activated making it impossible to use anywhere else! ) no room at breakfast, had to sit outside in the rain! Only advise given, come down earlier although no guarantee of a table! Have a bloody separate eating area for the wedding party! You have the rooms! I did attend reception but absolutely not interested! Most definitely not what we hoped for after a 4 hr journey!
If you are looking for a wedding venue it is everything a little girl dreams for, if you are looking for a weekend away where you are treated as you should be for a 4* HOTEL……jog on folks! You are mere commoners!

Perfect hidden gem. Nothing is to much high end hotel and conference center.

Such a beautiful hotel and nicely refurbished. The gardens are just lovely for enjoying a glass of wine in the sunshine. The best part though are the super friendly staff who really go out of their way to be helpful ans make your stay special.

Stayed here for valentines, lovely room — with a lovely bathwas a cold day so loved the radiator in the room which heated it up nicely. Bar area was lovely and breakfast was really tasty and had a lovely view from both room and for breakfast.

Easy to check in very polite, nice size rooms quiet. I'm an early riser so great to hear the dawn chorus.

Beautiful spacious rooms, well decorated, very thoughtful design, my only flaw is the walk in bathroom. Suite the floor isn't sloped enough and I spent 40 mins after my shower mopping up the floor as the water didn't flow away room 33, other than that it was top quality for the money and definitely coming back.

Thanks to everyone at Gorse Hill we had an amazing wedding day in August! The staff were so helpful and polite and our wedding coordinator made sure everything was how we wanted and paid attention to every detail. The packages were a really good price for what was included in our wedding and the venue itself is stunning. We are so happy that we had our wedding at Gorse Hill :)

Well so far it’s been great rooms have recently been decorated and has a lovely new carpet. Huge bathroom just eaten two courses of dinner which did not disappoint.

My son and his wife had the most amazing wedding July 20 th this year! The venue and its grounds are stunning. The effort put in by all the staff was amazing one of the staff members even got a wheelchair for my dad who had fallen over as his mum works at a local hospital. The only fault was the hot water took ages to come through and then it was difficult to mix with the cold.

A beautiful, romantic hotel in wonderful gardens with friendly and attentive staff. The food in the the restaurant is delicious and there is a great hotel bar too.

Had a lovely meal this evening using a virgin gift card we received as a wedding gift. Food was amazing, exceptional service from waitresses. Would definitely go back.

Losing a booking for a 60th birthday the day before and think offering another weekend or a 10% discount is an acceptable substitute. Very disappointing.

Staff are really great and the grounds are fabulous. Let down by the old building needing some TLC in the rooms. Shower would go from hot to cold (and finally day I couldn’t get it beyond tepid/warm). Room was reasonably furnished but it was too warm with the sun on it from the afternoon and no breeze, even the fan couldn’t reduce the temperature by much. Though my radiator was off, they were on elsewhere making the meeting rooms far too warm. Neither of the wardrobe doors would close properly (that was just a niggle though), and the pillows on the bed felt cheap and hard in comparison to a really nice mattress and a winter weight duvet (with blanket… it was 20oC outside! ). I’d actually go there for a weekend away as the location is away from the busy world and quiet, but I wouldn’t want to stay on business again.

Beautiful venue. Visited for a wedding and the different rooms worked perfectly for the various events and themes of the wedding as opposed to the normal open plan area. Lovely staff and easy to travel here from a range of places. Overall a very pleasant experience and would love to visit again!

A perfect place to wed. Just had my sons wedding there (Steve & April). Treated like royalty from arrival to departure. Nothing was any trouble. Staff were great, food was excellent. No faults only praise.

Pretty nice hotel situated in the middle of nowhere which is a good thing! Away from the noise of towns and cities and although I don’t play golf, there a few courses nearby. Rooms were okay, I wouldn’t say amazing but there was nothing bad to say about them. One thing I would say is that food was amazing! Presentation, appearance, taste, that deserves 5 stars!

119 pounds for a room with rusting bath and dirty toilet, never again. £7.50 for a g and t rip off. Food though very good and got a star otherwise it would have been 2 stars.

I got married here on the 11th May 2018. I could not fault the venue, the staff or the food. Everything was so amazing.
I would like to say thanks to Chris who was the manager of the day and the wedding coordinators Amy and especially Natalie who probably spent hours emailing and answering all of my questions. Also thank you to all staff in general including the chefs in the kitchen who made the most delicious food.
The day was magical and would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you so much!

Down for the evening with work. Fantastic location, really good oms we're great and bathrooms lovely. Evening meal was nice but food and drinks overpriced. Would stay again as long as company was picking up the bill but wouldn't stay if it was out my own pocket.

Nice hotel looking at it for a wedding venue. Had a good layout however wasn't for us. Would recommend a look round.

A tranquil hotel set in beautiful grounds on the outskirts of Woking. With a personal and cosy feel it's an ideal place for a relaxed getaway and for guests that like a more remote location. I imagine it must be a great choice for corporate and training events, not least because it's in such an easily accessible location. I recently attended a wedding fayre here and was hugely impressed with how attractively the venue was dressed and with the professionalism of the staff. I'm sure a wedding here would be a tremendous success and a most memorable event.

Had a wonderful overnight stay. Good size clean room, amazing garden, very friendly helpful staff and the variety of food available for breakfast was great too. Will go back there, loved it :)

First room offered, Windows did not close properly, it was snowing outside so quite an important feature of any accommodation would be to have a properly functioning window. The receptionists were very apologetic and transferred us to another room, which was much better in the window department. However, the room was very cold with only a summer duvet on the bed. We were given a second duvet and a heater.
Although much warmer, the night was not one of blissful sleep, as we seemed to have loud whirring machinery — perhaps a heating or hot water system — nearby, which resulted in my husband and myself having a very bad nights sleep.
The staff were doing their best, but the lovely old building needs some TLC.
Breakfast was nice, although machinery that sounded like a heart monitor bleeped continually in the background — torturous.
The building seemed clean.

Very nice location, good size rooms. A little tired in the bathroom. We stayed downstairs in the Lodge. Maybe get an upstairs room as you can hear people walking around. Main building a grounds absolutely lovely. Food good. Very nice staff.

Over night conference. Facilities were good and food pretty good too. Staff seemed a little stretched at times to cope and they did run out of food at breakfast for a while.

The location is very tucked away on what would be lovely grounds in the summer. It was a little muddy in the car park and some of the lower grounds which is too be expected in winter. I chose the cheapest of the rooms, which was suitable for just one night. If I was staying longer, I probably would have spent a little more on a larger room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was very nice and fresh. The atmosphere in the bar during the evening, and the dining area in the morning was both very pleasant and relaxing. I would absolutely stay again for my next visit in this direction.

A beautiful place! I can only imagine how perfect a wedding would be here! Amazing gardens and romantic interior. Me and my partner stayed for the weekend in the winter. We found it cosy and romantic! We booked a room last minute because the price was so low, that's why we didn't expect it to be so spectacular! We are looking to stay again soon because it's close to where I work and I really don't think there's anywhere better. I actually think we should have booked this venue for our wedding but visited too late. Overall, very impressive place with a lovely dinner menu. Great for impressing your guests for weddings or even a big meeting! Highly recommended, Thanks for reading~ Adam.

I recently stayed at The Gorse Hill Hotel (I use hotel loosely) it was not my original place to stay as my first choice was experiencing a temporary electrical fault. I found the Gorse at first very elegant then I got my room, it was cold the wash hand basin was cracked, there was insects crawling over the bath, there was black mould at the bath, and to top it off it was double the price of my original accommodation. will not be back.

Amazing venue for my wedding I would thoroughly recommend Gorse Hill as a wedding venue. It has been beautifully renovated with the bedrooms, lounge, bar and dining areas all included in the upgrade and it felt perfect for my event. The staff were brilliant as they helped me through the whole process — from the first viewing to ensuring the day ran effortlessly — so it was stress free. The gardens are so well kept and the food was amazing.

Room was a little small. Found a dead cockroach in the bathroom. Didn't feel like some of the staff were welcoming or helpful.

Great staff and lovely food. I was unfortunate enough to be put into a room in the cottage at the end of the driveway. It was pretty small and dated. Id imagine the main hotel rooms would be much nicer judging by the overall decor.

Lovely looking place, in secluded location, with nice grounds. A little let down by some of its rooms and food options. Try to get a room in the main building rather than the Lodge as it can be a bit noisy by comparison. Gym is a welcome addition.

Came here for a wedding and stayed in the lodge. Was a lovely day and good accommodation. Room was a little bit cold, breakfast was good. It's a beautiful place.

Nice hotel, but very poor customer service and communication. I booked a stay several months in advance, but was told via email (less than one week before arrival), that a private function will shut main restaurant, but that the bar and bar food would still be avaliable. However on arrival, a sign in the lobby said, everthing would close from 3pm for a private function. If you wanted food, or drink you could only order from room service? My group had several rooms, for a function outside the hotel, but wanted to meet and eat together before hand. On arrival it was far to late to organise anything else, unfortunately. It should also be noted, this is my second stay at the hotel and they had a wedding on at the same time too, but it didn't exclude other guests from the hotel. Maybe it's the change of ownership? Maybe they don't want to tell you, so they still fill their bedrooms? So top tip, call before you arrive, so at least you have a chance to organise somewhere else if need to!

I attended Horse hill for a friend's wedding reception. The place is amazing, beautiful grounds and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Bar service was really quick, the selection of ciders was a lot left to be desired, however there was a good range of other drinks. House white wine was ok, but not great. There is a table in a circle of trees just out back, really lovely setting at night. Would like to come back for a over night stay one day.

Wish we could put 6 stars. My new husband and I got married here yesterday. Through all the preparations Gorse Hill have been fantastic. No request has been too big or too crazy that they couldn't find a way to accommodate. The venue is an intimate manor house with beautiful grounds. It's all been recently renovated. The hotel facilities and customer service are excellent. We got lucky with the sunshine yesterday. The staff coordinated and managed our day with real finesse and our wedding was exactly how we wanted it to be. Also, the food is phenomenal. Pictures are the view from the balcony attached to the bridal suite.

The receptionist was very helpful and also the breakfast staff was also very helpful.

Comfortable and clean room, good free Wi-Fi and TV. Nice sized bathroom but pity about the unfixed shower head that sprays water everywhere including the floor. Very tasty and healthy lunch choice.

Absolutely terrible venue. The rooms are run down, staff are rude and they play loud music that fills courtyard until 12am. Organised a refund with venue only for it to be even be prosessed weeks later. Taking them to small claims court as they have terrible internal customer care. Check tripadvisor for reviews as place changed hands this year and most reviews since are negative. Avoid.

Really limited menu. 3 options against starter, main and desert. Bar menu slightly better. Steak was covered in Garlic butter and chicken wings were on par with dominos. Beers good. Waitresses alrite. Room OK. Really nice grounds of hotel but nothing to do. Prob suit OAPs on weekend vacation. Breakfast is mainly continental, nothing special. Summary, from the initial entrance to this hotel you are expecting something quite special. Unfortunately it just doesn't deliver and the stay was a let down. Here for 3 days and if I could be bothered to, I'd move to a premiere inn where at least I can get a decent steak.

Very nice location. Stunning grounds and well situated. Food was OK but nothing special. Drinks were vastly over priced even for a location such as this.

Attended a wedding at Gorse Hill and stayed overnight. The room was comfortable in the main mansion house, although the shower was not usable — not a stand up shower and no pressure at all. There was a very long queue to check in which meant we missed out on the drinks reception, which was a shame. The experience as the wedding was very nice, the food and decor very good. I would not want to be staying there as a non wedding guest however as the event took over the hotel and you would not have been able to have a meal unless it was room service. Breakfast was nice but again took over the restaurant. I would not want to be another guest sharing a table of 8 for my breakfast. All in all we had a pleasant stay.

I have stayed at Gorse Hill for almost a year, working locally. At first, it was a little complicated with the reservation process, but after a few hissy fits, it was sorted. Whilst some of the rooms are very dark, a majority are fine. However, what makes this hotel great is the staff, always ready to help or assist, and so friendly. Nothing is to much trouble. My wife came and stayed a couple of times, and she loved it, they really looked after her. Food is good, after a year, I could still find something different to eat, yes there are sometimes some blips during service, but that is usually with large numbers, business functions etc,. For me this is a good hotel, well done guy's and thanks for looking after me.

I stayed here with my girlfriend during the 2012 Olympic Games. Probably because of the summertime there weren't too many people in the hotel so we had a nice stay here. It felt that they are indeed specialised in weddings and business meetings and for this the hotel seems perfect. Very nice buildings and surroundings with a more than decent breakfast.

Service was amazing as was food. Some rooms can be a little small and they really need a gym.

My husband Paul was booked in, leaving here 4am travelling for client meetings over 2 days — 1 day based at the hotel. When he arrived they openly said they had bounced him for a regular client, sending him 12 miles up the road to their sister hotel offering him supper (he had already eaten with a client lunch time so declined). They replied to some tweets saying it was 'unavoidable' — when I replied asking if that is what they said to said person 'Sorry, hotel full — unavoidable' they did not reply. I have worked in the boardroom of a De Vere hotel and as a speaker I cover customer service regularly at home and abroad. This story will feature under "how not to do it. " They did not warn him so he could make his own choices or offer proper compensation. Who will they bounce next …. Maybe you.

Gorse Hill is one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph. The staff are so accommodating and there are some great locations inside and out for those all important portraits. If you're considering Gorse Hill for your wedding, and you're looking for a photographer that knows the venue inside out, I'd love to hear from you.

Stayed here with my girlfriend over the Valentines weekend and really enjoyed it. Rooms are spacious and with nice decor. Was met by a bottle of prosecco in the room free of charge which was a lovely surprise. Food is more than adequate and the grounds were really nice. I would definitely recommend it.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in May 2013, and while the hotel is usually catering for events (conferences, weddings, etc) they seem to do cheap deals when there's no event planned. The grounds and surrounding are lovely, and the staff were very friendly. The room we stayed in was a bit small and stuffy, and the breakfast was pretty average but still nice. We tried room service and the food was quite nice on the first evening — in the morning our tray had not been collected from outside the door, and likewise when we returned in the evening the tray was still there in front of the door. It seems as though the service and presentation are refined, there are some rough edges which remind you that this is an events location and not the boutique hotel you could easily mistake it for. Still, it's surprising how you can easily find a deal that gives you excellent value for money here.

Had a dreadful stay, noise until 5am, people smoking cannabis in the room next door. Shocking.
