Best food best staff lovely Sunday roast one of the best in Brighton.

We stayed here for our Anniversary was so nice here we asked for a sea view and we got a fab sea view room looked lovely and place was very clean staff helpful and very nice and we booked to come again before we left it’s defo 5 stars from us and we’ve stayed in Brighton a few times but this hotel topped the others great atmosphere.

In the middle of the gay village overlooking the sea. Great location but topped by friendly helpful staff.

Friendly staff. Parking a bit of a mare but ok as nearly off season. Bar staff really helpful and friendly. Nice to sit out side with a drink and watch the world go by. Would recommend if you on a budget. Room is adequate and functional but then again we only paid £56.

I am absolutely disgusted to state I was racially abused in this bar tonight. The 'locals' as they stated they were, physically bullied me and my partner and threatened that '10 guys' would beat me up if I 'stepped outside' with them. Pride of all times, the celebration of love and diversity… I can never look at this place in the same light. Even the security ignored the situation and acted upon the 'regular's' say so! Bullies and horrible energies.

Fantastic night Friday before pride. Great drag, friendly bar staff. Just really well run and we had a great night! Def coming back!

Just arrived, love the Amsterdam but have never stayed here. The location is excellent, the room is lovely, very happy.

Great location opposite the pier/sea life centre. Welcoming reception staff. Lift available to floor of room, room clean light airy fresh. Bed comfortable and fresh. Bathroom had a wet room style shower and lovely shower flow, clean and bright. Overall impressed with the hotel and price and location. Continental breakfast buffet style, croissants, fruit, yoghurt, toast and preserves. Tea/coffee/juice. Cheese&ham.

Warm welcome from Charles, great room which was lovely and quiet, bang on the sea front — will definitely come again.

Went to Brighton for my 25th and couldn’t of asked for a better hotel to stay in. Staff were so friendly, attentive and welcoming. We was upgraded to a Pent house suite which was just amazing so spacious, clean and beautiful. Couldn’t of asked for a better birthday. Location was spot on too. Would highly recommend. Thankyou.

While on my Stag do we decided to pop into this hotel for a single drink on the road to the town centre. What came next we could never had imagined. What was meant to be one drink turned into us spending the whole night in the bar. The kareoke compere Jason was hilarious and the manager and staff immense. We actually left the bar to go to another but decided outside there wasn't anywhere better at all. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart. You treated our whole group like Kings and you really did make my Stag do one to remember. We are still talking about your bar 5 weeks later. If you want to just let your hair down and have a good old fashioned laugh then there is not better bar I have ever been to. I will go back. All my love to you guys from Scottish Jason the karaoke king aka miss tumness hahahahha.

It's a below average hotel. Sea front rooms have a good view. The room that we were in was clean but was certainly in an absolute need of update or rather refurbishment. We stayed two nights. After the first night, the bed was made but bedsheets weren't changed. It was very noisy until one in the morning. The noise started again at 5:00 as the bin lorries started waste collection There was hardly anything for breakfast so we didn't stay for breakfast the next morning. Not recommended.

Stayed in the hotel many yrs ago, base hotel for Brighton Pride festivities. Used to have it's own sauna. Now only frequent for drinking purposes during the Pride wkend.

Someone forgot to change the sheets from the previous occupier. Once reported, however, it was addressed straight away. Apart from that it was a pleasant stay.

Really nice hotel staff where very friendly and helpful also had a beautiful view from out balcony, room was a tad dusty in places but would definitely stay again.

Was due to stay in a boutique double room with balcony sea view to celebrate my wedding anniversary. After driving around Brighton for 40 minutes to find a parking space we walked a long way with our bags to get there. We were charged the full amount before even stepped into the room. When we arrived in the room my wife and I were disgusted in what we experienced. Over powering stench of strong bleach met us as we entered the room. The worst part was the bedding. The sheets were filthy with a large brown/red and yellow stains on them and also on the mattress. When we complained the man in reception he could not care less. We showed him the photo of the sheet and he told us he would just turn the mattress over! We were then shown two other basic rooms and to our disgust the bedding was also filthy with one having a hole in the sheets. It was so unpleasant we decided that we were not comfortable in staying at this hotel and it put a real downer on our weekend after travelling over a 100 miles to get there. The staff told us that many drug addicts have been housed here paid for by the council and they have left the rooms in a terrible state and are having a ‘nightmare’. Price for this room was £154. Stay well away.

Hotel very well located next to the beach and Pier, clean rooms, pleasant staff.

It's a charming hotel with gla great strategic position. The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast buffet decent.

Simply awful. Front desk staff smoking at front door (Not very professional). Parking voucher from hotel at £8.00 per day but spent 2 hours looking for a space. We paid for breakfast but refused to eat the so called continental breakfast as it consisted of cheese chunks, cold meats and toast which all looked like it had seen better days. The hotel supply earplugs in each room which is a clue to being a noisy hotel and it was. The room was very hot which prevented any sleep. So I can honestly say we will NEVER stay here again. It's more suited to backpackers who probably care less than the staff. Sorry to be blunt but I have to be honest… … oh did you think I was done… My legs are covered in bruises because the bed frame stuck out so much I kept knocking my legs.

Didn't have the ingredients for a full English. Said they would go out and get them but this would have made me late to a meeting. 6 quid a little expensive for the bread fest that constituted a continental breakfast. Disappointed to say the least. Room was ok. Location good. Parking bad.

Brilliant! Friendly staff who are dog and LGBTI welcoming. Handy for the pier, sea and town. Attached restaurant and bar is excellent and reasonably priced. The Penthouse Suite (with stunning sea view and four poster bed is to die for! (Spent my 70th birthday there and it made an excellent venue) My only gripe is the top floor and Penthouse are not accessible to the disabled — but the rest of the floors are.

As always. Perfect, great hotel, wonderfully staff. 3rd new year spent there. Top night, used every time we are down that way. Be there for Sunday roast… the best.

Been a few times to this place. Service is always with a smile and it's great in the summer to sit outside with a nice bottle of wine. Would definitely recommend.

Good, clean hotel. Well located. Great breakfast. Parking is NOT included. It is falsely advertised that there is parking. You will need to pay to buy an overnight parking on one of the adjacent streets… Then you will need to keep driving around to find a parking spot that may take an hour or so of circling… on high season, good luck finding a parking spot.

Really lovely stay. Very friendly helpful staff. Had a lovely sea view. Very close to hub of Brighton (pier & sea life centre) so very central. Just a pity we couldn't order the weather.

Had a nice stay at the Amsterdam hotel.
Would've been a bit disappointed with the room had it not been for the balcony, as it was very tiny, but it had all you needed with a lovely sea view.
It is noisy at night but it wasn't the noise that kept us awake but the heat, so hot. Air con would've been nice because it was too loud outside to have windows open.

Very friendly atmosphere. Manager is a lovely gentleman, can't do enough for his guests. Rooms aren't the biggest but they do what's needed. Breakfast is excellent, hotel is well situated for Brighton Pier and surrounding bars etc would definitely stay again.

From the moment I checked into the Amsterdam Hotel, the staff made me feel like I was at home. I was greeted with a free upgrade, including a sea view room and free breakfast. Throughout my trip, they provided useful travel tips and humorous conversations during breakfast.

Very noisy I did 2 nights and ran out of casino until 4 am unable to sleep.

We came on weekend break away (3 Irish, meeting two more Irish in Brighton) & this was the first bar we visited and loved it, the staff were absolutely lovely and so friendly. We had a good laugh with them. We also stayed for good and the food was so nice we came back the next day. Can't wait to go here on my next visit. :)

The Amsterdam bar hosted our 50th party in February. It prove to be the perfect venue. The management team and their staff are highly professional, attentive to your needs and offer a very warm welcome. Nothing was too much for them. The space, and it's layout are perfect for upwards of 150 people and offers fantastic value. It is just a stones throw from the Palace Pier and the seafront. With a large south facing terrace it is also fabulous on those sunny afternoons. This Sunday a group of 10 of us visited for Sunday lunch. We live in Brighton and eat all over the town including many Sunday lunches. As you would expect with 10 people we sampled most of the menu between us. Everyone was happy. The food was hot, there was plenty of it but most importantly it tasted fantastic. I highly recommend the Amsterdam bar parties food and fun.

I had a single room on the top floor. Felt recently refurbished very modern with Wal mounted TV, wood effect floor, power mid wall sockets, full tiled ensuite with shower tray illuminated bathroom mirror, two bedside tables, one with a lamp. Big window with bit of a scary view 5 storeys down. Freeview with all the usual channels. Free Wi-Fi with password.
Reception very nice polite, friendly, they put a new bulb in my lamp and room cleaned before second night breakfast is continental included then you pay 7.95 for upgrade to a very good full English. Lovely sunny breakfast room sea view, TVs bbc news with sound on. Continental breakfast has fruit, croissants, toast, cheese, cold meats. Bit lively on the Friday night in the bar but didn't keep me awake was finished by 12. Would stay again. 10% off booking from their website.

The room was nice. One of the managers was extremely rude. Doesn't state that you have to pay 7.50 for breakfast but manager Harry sorted out all the problems for us. And great staff at the chief/ bar special thanks to Peter. Food was great.

The Brighton Gay Hotel that prefers Conservatives, it seems. OK, this is during the election, when people have strong opinions. But a hotel/bar is a public place, and you'd think hotel owners would therefore keep their private views to themselves. You might especially think that a hotel/bar serving the gay community wouldn't want to be identified with any particular political party — — but a big blue poster in the window of the Amsterdam suggests that from now on this is a place for gay Tories, rather than for anyone else.

I've stayed in a lot of hotels and B&Bs in Brighton and this definitely wasn't the worst. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived. The hotel and rooms are all very clean and well presented. There are beautiful views of the seafront and pier and the location is perfect. The only things we were disappointed with were the fact that when making our booking (not directly through the hotel) we were led to believe breakfast included meant a full English. This wasn't the case and although the continental breakfast was lovely, for £150 a night (which was their cheapest room) we did expect a 'proper' breakfast. Also, as many have mentioned before this hotel is above a bar and this isn't made clear when booking. It didn't bother us and the noise didn't disturb our sleep. Finally, the shower in our room was awful, the taps had been put on the wrong way, we had numerous problems with hot and cold water coming through, but I cannot fault the staff as they came up to our room straight away and tried to help. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again, purely because I have paid less for a much nicer room, but I would still recommend for those happy to pay the price.

Quirky old-world colonial décor but very well presented; room had hand-made furniture courtesy of an Indian production facility that the hotel supports through charity. Also had wonderful wet room with yummy old-style shower head and well kept fittings elsewhere. Bed was comfy and roomy, continental style breakfast included in the deal. All in all we were made to feel very welcome, and the staff could not do enough to help — recommended.

Great Sunday lunch. Its fresh food, served hot and the veg aren't overcooked! Food is backed up by excellent service, with an all round good dining atmosphere.

Quite expensive for what it is. The room was comfortable, but small and very noisy, the price to pay to have a balcony with a Brighton Pier view. The bathroom was quite small as well with that very "no personality" wet room style. The breakfast was nice and the staff very friendly and helpful.

This is my second stay at The Amsterdam, both have been great. Lovely staff, great room, food and location and a fantastic view. Get a room with a balcony and pier view, it's worth it.
