Had my wedding here on the 15.07.22, what can I say… amazing! Was the only venue me and my husband looked at, and we didn’t need to look anywhere else. Carol is such a great wedding planner, she made me feel so relaxed and nothing was too much trouble, all the staff on the day were amazing, friendly and polite. The food was delicious from our family meal the night before in the beautiful library to the food on the wedding day. Absolutely loved the day, couldn’t have asked for better, so thank you. Will be returning soon for our anniversary 😊 Mr and Mrs McCarthy xx.

We got married at this beautiful hotel in March and I cannot recommend it enough! The wedding planner Carol was wonderful and so helpful in every possible way, staff were absolutely amazing, the food was delicious, and it was a beautiful day from start to finish! Visited for afternoon tea on Saturday and it was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much. The setting was relaxed and the hotel is just beautiful. Will definitely be returning for another wonderful experience.

We got married at the Glen Yr Afon House Hotel in January 2022, This was the most perfect wedding venue ever, beautiful rooms, attentive staff, especially Carol — a great help with organising our very special day, and Sultan on the day ensuring everything went smoothly. Everyone enjoyed the day, the food was fantastic, and nothing was too much trouble. We'd do it all again if we could! Thank you so much for making our dream come true x.

What a fabulous gem of a hotel tucked away in Usk. With friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds in quiet rooms and lovely food they have a winning formula. The food served for dinner was delicious and beautifully presented and breakfast was perfect with every persons choices served individually and always with a smile! Special thanks go to the two young men who were serving both dinner and breakfast, for whom nothing was too much trouble and their friendly manner was much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Usk (a first for me) and hope to return. Thank you 😊

Lovely Afternoon Tea celebrating my daughter’s birthday along with my granddaughter and family and friends. Excellent tea and faultless service! Enjoyed it so much I have arranged another Afternoon Tea for a few weeks time.

Great venue but extortionate drinks prices and a very long wait to be served.

My friend and I stayed here on Saturday nite for a retirement party. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the staff were absolutely wonderful, extremely friendly and helpful. The buffet was superb and so was the breakfast… highly recommended this hotel for any occasion it was fabulous.

Just back from a 2 night stay to celebrate a friend’s wedding. Tim the manager and his team are fantastic, they all made us feel very Welcome and looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was fabulous! The decor may not be to everyone’s taste but it’s in keeping with the age and style of the building. The grounds are lovely with plenty of places to enjoy the wonderful surroundings. Would definitely recommend.

My family had a fabulous weekend staying in the lodge. The staff were really helpful and welcoming. Location is excellent, close to river, town, play park and the best Ice cream shop ever. Thank you for helping to making their first post lockdown trip so memorable.

Fabulous service and food today for a special Sunday lunch for my father-in-law.

Lovely Sunday lunch today, felt like I was back home been such a long year. Well done to Tim, Alex and all the staff was set out really well for social distancing. Food was up to the very best standard as always.

Spent our 8th year wedding anniversary here and will definitely be coming back again in the near future. Genuinely felt welcomed by the friendly staff member on the front desk and the room was immaculate, very clean. The bathroom had a nice roomy bath and rainfall shower, which again everything was spotless and gleaming. All the staff were friendly and courteous and the included breakfast was delicious.

Where to start, we have just returned home after spending 22 days at the cottage in the grounds of the hotel, the cottage was spotlessly clean with spacious bedrooms and more than comfortable accommodation throughout. Hotel staff were exceptional, reception, housekeeping and restaurant staff all played a part in making our time there so great. After such a prolonged stay it was like being greeted by a friend each morning for breakfast. My husband in particular enjoyed the extensive breakfast menu which catered for all tastes, Peter and Jan the owners were very welcoming as were all the staff, they all worked together seamlessly to deliver first class service at all times. Our daughter had her wedding reception here some years ago and we still hold dear the memories of this day. I can highly recommend this hotel for any occasion be it large or small, Peter, Jan and their team
will not disappoint you. We will certainly be back.

We have been to this hotel several times, our son got married here. The service is always first class as is the food. On this occasion we had afternoon tea last Wednesday 12 th of February and again it was truly amazing. I received a voucher for my Birthday but due to circumstances was unable to use it by the expiry date. The hotel extended the date and for that I would like to thank them. This is a friendly, homely and amazing hotel look forward to visiting again soon.

Lovely place for a get — away and chill… great food… very helpful and friendly staff… beautiful grounds… different Gins are a must too try… Will be back.

Attended the Faulty Towers experience 17 December 2019, what a great show, laughed all the way through a 3 course meal. Great food, even though Basil and Manuel were very disruptive throughout the service, food was tasty and piping hot! Great selection of gin too Will be returning again soon!

Fabulous afternoon tea today. 60 th Birthday celebration. Highly recommend paying a visit, lovely food, very nice friendly helpful staff. Thank you everyone at Glen yr Afon House Hotel. This was my first visit. Which will be the first of many more to come.

The day was perfect from start to finish. All the staff were fantastic and really helpful especially Sultan who was warm and friendly and let us know what was happening all the way through.
Thanks to Carol for her support in the planning process.
The meal was delicious and the vegetarians were particularly complimentary about their food.
The room was decorated beautifully and The DJ was brilliant and got people up dancing.
I highly recommend this wedding venue the room we stayed in was perfect also. Thank you all for an amazing wedding reception.

What amzaing staff u have rooms are fantastic and very clean and very helpfull would come back again as we stay for a wedding thank u so much.

Not warning the locals that they are going to have random firework displays! Terrifying their pets! Out of order.

Just came back from a luxury break at the glen yr afon to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday and our wedding anniversary. The food was absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection. The staff made us feel very welcome and made our stay memorable. Thank you so much.

Only been here an hour or so and monumentally impressed so far. We booked a luxury break here as a treat and mini-honeymoon a week after we got married as we had no time for a more extensive honeymoon. From the moment we stepped in the door the staff have been friendly, polite and attentive. We were shown to our room, which is first class and then returned to reception where we were greeted and shown to a table for afternoon tea. I can’t even begin to describe the afternoon t…ea. The quality and quantity of the food is quite frankly the best I’ve ever had in an afternoon tea, and I’ve had a few. We even had a glass of champagne to sip throughout and offers of tea and coffee refills as required. If the rest of our stay continues at this rate I can guarantee we will be coming again! I’ve already said to the husband that we shall have to purchase the luxury break again as a gift for some family members.

We attended a wedding reception this Saturday just gone. The staff were super attentive, very quick to serve drinks and attentive with the tables. The venue was perfect to host us all, and I can't make any complaints.

Excellent venue for my friend's wedding. Third one I've been to here and as always it was beautiful with the rooms decorated to the wedding couple's colours and tastes. The staff are very welcoming and work extremely hard. The food was excellent quality once again. I can't give an opinion on the cost but it is worth it for the fantastic venue and service for small or large weddings. Another wonderful day.

Excellent service, fantastic breakfast too! Room was a little stale, and some background noise from other rooms' bathroom fans — but a solid hotel, experience saved by an excellent staff.

My daughter got married here on St Patrick's day, we stayed in the cottage it was absolutely beautiful and the staff were so helpful. We had breakfast brought over as hair and make up were being done so couldn't get to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Absolutely fabulous food, all in all a wonderful day to remember thank you.

Visited Glan yr Afon hotel as a wedding guest. The layout was spectacular and so intimate, without feeling surrounded by people. Food portions were plentiful and the roast dinner was amazing.

I visited here for a Birthday party of 20 for a three course meal. It was always a place renown for quality but I had never been. We were treated like royalty by the staff and the food was excellent and the portions huge. I am not one for Jus or blow torch cooking. Would love to go again!

Just spent this afternoon 21st January for my daughters "Baby Shower". Booked the library room to make it more personal. Afternoon tea was so good, so much choice we all ended up with take home boxes. The staff were so helpful. Would highly recommend. I have had afternoon at the Ritz, but I have to say Glen yr Afon you beat them hands down! Thank you.

Lovely hotel. Just had our company Xmas party there last night. Excellent food, great food and lovely rooms. The staff were attentive and it’s the best venue we’ve been to for years. Will definitely book again next year. Thanks to all for a great night.

Lovely House Hotel, visually the house is really cool and the rooms are laid out very well. Breakfast is table service which I've come to find unusual as most places tend to have a buffet breakfast, table service is always welcomed. Evening food again is really good with a great selection one the menu. One of my nights staying I popped down stairs circa 11pm wondering if the bar was open (looking for snacks) ; I was pleasantly taken aback when the manager made me a sandwich with crisps and a drink. Its these touch's that make you want to stay longer. Thank you once again Glen Yr Afon I will hopefully be back to stay again on business.

Fabulous place couldn't do enough for us all fantastic place for a wedding they were very professional made our day and night my son and new daughter inlaw had a wonderful time they made it so relaxing if I could give them over a five star I would.

I am a regular diner at the Glen yr Afon and as it was my birthday was looking forward to a great family meal. Whilst the venue and service was exemplary as always the main course of the five courses was disappointing. The chicken was quite dry, gravy too thin and tasteless and roast potatoes like leather, other family members also commented the same on their pork meal. Starters were great, dessert fabulous. I will continue to dine at the Glen yr Afon as the atmosphere is always splendid but will raise any complaints in the future at the time.

We stayed here 25 years ago the night of our wedding. We have been back since but decided to have an overnight stay to celebrate our 25th anniversary and it didn't disappoint. Its a lovely relaxed peaceful atmosphere. We had afternoon tea (far too much to eat so we were lucky enough to have the cakes boxed up to take home! ) Dinner in the evening was beautiful. And the breakfast was amazing. I loved the peace and quiet and the beautiful surroundings. And of course a huge thank you to the staff who were absolutely fantastic! It won't be another 25 years before we come back! Highly recommend!

Wonderful place, great staff, wonderful food, afternoon tea to die for particularly the champagne tea. Overall a place to recharge your batteries or explore the area. Wonderful we will be back.

Had a wonderful stay with my wife on the "Luxury Break" deal. Friendly staff, pleasant traditional small hotel, but the food was the best bit by far. Our Champagne afternoon tea on arrival was yummy, served in a pleasant private sitting room and was generously sized. My top tip would be to avoid eating too much at this stage so you can do your dinner justice! Luckily the staff were very happy to box up the cakes we hadn't eaten for us to take the next day. Dinner was the highlight of our stay. I'm used to hotels giving me a set menu or an allowance to spend when dinner is included in a room rate, but here anything on the menu was up for grabs. I had mackerel scotch egg, Tournedos Rossington and Welsh cakes with berries and clotted cream. Yum! We stuck with the selection of wines that were offered by the glass, which was relatively small but varied enough and good value. Breakfast was also excellent. If I had one suggestion it would be to provide slightly more luxurious toiletries and biscuits in the room as this would help the whole stay feel like it matched up to the indulgent excellence of the food. In all, this is a great place for an indulgent mini-break, and Usk a pleasant traditional little town to wander round for an hour or so.

Attending family birthday for Sunday lunch. Staff very attentive welcoming us in and showing us to room were we were able to view menu and order drinks. Food was good and service excellent and efecient especially when all tables were booked by other guests. Overall another excellent lunch at one of our favourite eateries.

I stayed at the hotel the night before the wedding with my parents & bridesmaids and the staff made sure we had the perfect evening to start the weekends celebrations off. Jamie & Matthew you were both amazing, you made sure the weekend and our wedding day ran smoothly. The venue is the perfect setting with beautiful gardens, lovely decorated bedrooms and in a ideal location. The food was delicious and so was the wine. I am so glad we chose to have our wedding day here and I would highly recommend it to other couples looking for a wedding venue. Carol is amazing and so are her team. Attended a wedding, hotel is beautiful. Bar is small but well managed. Room was fantastic (although for some reason the heating was on full). Food was lovely, including the breakfast the next morning.

I have visited Glen Yr Afon several times over the past few years and I have been extremely satisfied with every visit. I have had Afternoon Tea here twice (once for a baby shower and once for Mother's Day where I took my mum and nan) which was the best Afternoon Tea I have ever had, with a large selection of sandwiches, sweets and pastries. I recently attended my aunty and uncles wedding reception which took place in April and I had such an amazing day celebrating with friends and family and the staff couldn't do enough to help. The three course meal included was incredible! The lamb with seasoned veg was to die for! Thank you so much for making my aunty and uncles wedding day special and for the amazing hospitality!

Quite small rooms but nice professionally held event.

I went to the hotel for a friend's wedding. The venue was excellent, with a large room well set up for the meal, and later dancing, as well as several smaller rooms and areas for talking more quietly. The food was excellent and plentifully.

Great ambience, friendly staff, huge breakfast and comfortable room. Enjoyed my stay!

Well equipped bar and lounge, events hall was well organised and friendly. Staff were very helpful, plenty of parking space and the grounds/building are lovely.

Second visit to this wonderful place to celebrate the anniversary of our wedding here 2 years ago. Faultless. Service is genuinely second to none with the staff looking good after you like you are old friends. Rooms are comfortable, spotless and inviting. Food great… (so much food) breakfast brought to room even though we slept late as they insist you won't leave on an empty stomach. Place can do no wrong. Did I mention the service… oh yes. The service! … Amazing!
