Great place to get married… nothing was to much trouble. Gorgeous garden for photos. Food was lovely, even working on a reduced menu due to covid restrictions.
Bruce was amazing! Very polite, very attentive and always smiling.

Lovely hotel, we attended for a wedding. The staff were lovely, the hotel felt like a home from home, with kids running around with no shoes on to and from the room. The room was very clean and exactly what a family room was ment to be like with plenty space. Highly recommend. 5* plus the food was gorgeous the balmoral chicken was amazing and the salmon.

Initially we had a couple of issues to iron out after covid hit us hard again literally days before our wedding! But… Claire the manager sorted everything out and rectified every issue we had to the highest level. Giving 5* customer service. Samantha who helped us arrange all of our wedding requests was fan-frickin — tastic!
She is just amazeballs. The staff was very pleasant and professional at all times. From serving food, drinks and everything overall. We hope to return for our anniversary with possibly all of our guests that couldn’t be there today due to covid.

Seen the takeaway menu so I had to try it, the chips were amazing, sfc was to die for with so much flavour, spring rolls are just like you would get from a Chinese, the onion rings were real slices of onion, and the onion baji were also tasty.
Anyone thinking of ordering food or takeaway after my experience I will certainly be stopping again, I’m a local truck driver and pulled up out side and collected my food, 10/10 guys.

Had lovely sunday lunch today great value and food lovely, great presentation.

We’ve just enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay here! What a lovely Hotel in a perfect destination to visit our family and have lots of adventures! On our first night we enjoyed games in the bar whilst having a drink. Followed by a delicious Scottish breakfast in the morning. On the second night we had an explore down to the sea front past the farms with the calves feeding in the fields. We will be back in the future ☺️

We chose the runaway wedding package and we were not disappointed. Nothing was too much trouble. We had 5 people at our ceremony and we loved every minute if it. We are in the Aelisha suite. Lovely Jacuzzi, lovely shower, huge comfortable bed. But no Wi-Fi!

Totally appalled at this hotels customer service they cancelled my reservation and blamed booking. Com for this I rebooked with them direct and advised I would call booking. Com which I did who said it was gables that had cancelled I called back to speak to hotel where I got the rudist member of staff who would jot listen to what I was saying to her she them raised voice and I asked her not to shout at me then hung up on me so unprofessional I have tried to call back to sort and she is ignoring call so unprofessional again if this is kind if staff that run hotel then I think I will be cancelling debbie keys.

The food is amazing staff are soo friendly room lovely.

My daughter got married at anvil Hall, this hotel is where her reception was held. Responsible priced too.

Rooms really big with a big bathroom and jacuzzi bath whole room clean and tidy and staff are really nice.

We stayed here for two nights and WON'T be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed the murder mystery night with my friends. Food was nice (some meringue in eaton mess would have upped from nice to excellent). And all set up lovely and staff were good. Met a few people from Glasgow on a special offer staying over and they said was well worth it.

After a long journey, we were greeted with friendly staff, and a complimentary bottle of wine, our room had a four poster bed and a whirlpool bath, and was wonderfully clean and welcoming. We went out for the day and came back to eat in the bar restaurant, again lovely helpful staff and beautiful well presented food. What a totally lovely hotel, well recommended to anyone who wants a lovely stay in Gretna green.

Fantastic staff, great food alittle tired around the edges and in need of new mattresses but no one can fault how welcoming the hotel was.

All staff were lovely and helpful. Food was lovely. Room a bit dated. But had a good nights sleep. Close for sightseeing.

We were here a week ago as part of a small wedding party. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly and the breakfast was very good. The access to rooms in the hotel extension was a bit like finding your way through a maze but we persevered and soon found our way about! We spent some time shopping in the shopping outlet in the town from where we also caught the bus to Carlisle and were able to use our English bus passes!

Stayed here when we got married in 2000 and it was lovely then and it was just as lovely now. Breakfasts were really nice and we had room service on last night and the food was beautiful. They upgraded us to a 4 poster room for free as it was our anniversary and the room had a spa bath which was noisy but heavenly.

Very comfortable. Lovely staff. So helpful and accommodating. Couldn't do enough for you. Superb.

We stayed here at the weekend and had our wedding reception here also! From the minute we got there we loved it, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our rooms were beautiful everything was perfect! We had guests staying with us also in the single rooms, twin rooms, double rooms, Family room & we had the Ailsa suite which was amazing! We ate in the hotel on the first night and the food was really nice, breakfast was also really nice and some of us had it in our rooms. — g…reat selection even for kids! Once we got back from the Anvil Hall (day we got married) the staff were so organised and on top on it all and our night ran so smoothly. The food was amazing and our room was set up perfectly! I would like to thank all of the staff for all their help and just for being so nice and helpful everytime myself or any of my guests had any interaction. I am 100% returning to The Gables Hotel in the future and would recommend it to everyone even if its not to get married and you just want a weekend away its the perfect place! Thanks Again!

Really nice and clean hotel the food is good and things are not to expensive. Plus it was topped off by having a Jacuzzi in our room. The staff are really helpful and friendly too.

Nice hotel and friendly staff. Large breakfast and very good evening meal included in our package. Close to the Gretna shopping outlet. Lots of places to visit around this area. We enjoyed our couple of days here.

We had a lovely stay for Valentines weekend. The hotel looks lovely outside and was decorated very nice inside. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety to suit everybody. We had evening meal that was amazing (would highly recommend the battered haggis and whiskey cream for starter) Staff were friendly, We would return and would recommend ❤

From start to finish it was an amazing place staff where warm and welcomining catered to help us in anyway they could especially with 2 kids being sick they went above and beyond so we could enjoy are stay and look after our kids at the same time cant wait to go back for another stay in the near future.

Came back to this hotel as we stayed here for our civil ceremony in 2011 and back to Gretna to convert to a marriage. Great hotel, great food and service. Hotel is reasonably priced and well suited for those who wish to yo marry the Gretna way.

We have just returned from Gretna — previously 10 years ago me & my husband were married in Gretna & we had our wedding reception & stayed at The Gables Hotel — so my husband surprised me & had book us a night at the Gables. I was excited to return after 10 years; that was until I re entered the hotel & checked our room; (I have pictures if the hotel would like to see them) — the carpets in the hallway were up when you open the door to walk on to the hall you trip over. Then the sign warning you that the carpets are lose & a hole in the floor can be seen is situated down the hall, probably a good idea to warm customer before the hazard as a pose to when they’ve tripped).

Enjoyed our stay. Lovely room. Breakfast was very good and staff very friendly.

Well where do I start, from meeting rachelle 16 weeks ago and booking our wedding, to answering my calls all most daily, until arriving the night before, everything was organised just the way I wanted it, from having drinks and food on the Friday Stu was an absolute star, on the day of the wedding again rachelle was there when I needed her, coming to the room with in seconds of ringing for her, now for the room set up it's was perfect in every way, the staff were so amazing each and every one went above and beyond the meal was unreal, then the night time the dj was brilliant Matt the barman was a super star, but huge thank you to Lesley for sorting night time buffet, but I couldn't leave out Emily who made sure this bride was fed & watered every morning! You are all super stars and made our weekend perfect and we can't thank you enough mr & Mrs Bell xx xx.

Lovely building situated in beautiful surroundings. Room was excellent with en suite bathroom. Food, drink and service all excellent too. Would definitely recommend.

(we had a classic double room for 48 gbp including breakfast). Rooms were good, however walls are a bit thin if you have noisy neighbours. Breakfast was good, nice food options and more than enough. However service at breakfast was slow, tea/coffee took 15 minutes. And 20 minutes before we could order. As breakfast is rather slow en till 9.30, a check out before 10 is a bit early. Would surely booked again for this price!

Great wee place. Have stayed 3-4 times now. They do host weddings regularly so it can be a busy and sometimes noisy place. Rooms are higher end with spa baths in some of the rooms. Enjoyable restaurant and small bar. Outside seating is available.

We stayed here in August this year for my brothers wedding would highly recommend beautiful place would definitely re-visit longer next time though.

Went for a family meal last night. Terrible drinks service and the food was dreadfull. £12.95 for fish and chips that was bad to say the least let alone it being the size of a childs portion very poor value for money.

Went here for a wedding, the wedding was amazing, but the venue was an absolute shambles. The staff were rude and didn't have a clue, they charged one person three different prices for the same drink! They ran out of soda on the taps so we were made to pay extra for the cans instead. We weren't offered help with out bags when we checked in and out either. We were pretty much left to see to ourselves all day, even the champagne and drinks were just left on the table, we didn't know whether they were ours or not (there were three weddings that day). Finally, after the evening meal the room was meant to be cleaned up so we could have the after party in there. The room was never cleaned up though and we were forced to either sit in the bar or outside in the garden for the remainder of the night! Luckily the weather was gorgeous. There was no planning and the hotel didn't contribute to the magic of the wedding in the slightest. They literally acted as a place to stay and that was all, not good enough from a place that offers to host weddings. Would not come again!

Friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere made for a pleasant weekend. The hotel is in part an old house and the rooms in this older part are a little tired. Lack lustre shower and loose tap in our bathroom, but clean. Bed very soft. We were guests at a wedding and the catering was good. Breakfast is included in the package and ranged from a full Scottish to continental options. The hotel is about 15 mins walk from the local outlet centre.

Nice quiet comfortable place, meals are good with nice staff. Rooms are better than daybreak stays. Drinks were Reasonable​ not too expensive… In all 5 stars worth the money for a break…

I got married here 16/12/15 the whole experience was perfect. It was just me my husband our daughter. We were married in the garden room which was also private to us for the meal. The staff really made the day special, our room was small but lovely (with a bottle of fizz waiting for us), the staff were friendly and the food was wonderful. I seriously can not understand any bad reviews. Whenever I think of our wedding day I just smile :-) x.

My daughter got married here. The food was awful the service crap. And the wedding ceremony lasted a full 9 mins.

Service was first class, with great food at a good price, highly recommended.

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We had dinner there on the fort night and the food was excellent. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely.

Took the wife here twice stayed in the honeymoon suite on both occasions. The first occasion was a free upgrade on arrival. Lucky day lol. Both stays were comfortable with a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Food was of high standard and no complaints.

My wife and I had our wedding reception at The Gables Hotel last year and returned this year to celebrate our first anniversary. The hotel was and is beautiful, fairly priced and very clean. The staff are friendly and can't do enough to help you. The food is outstanding, everyone of our wedding guests commented on the high standard of the food and we were pleased to discover that the food remains at the same high standard. (I recommend the rack if lamb). Fantastic hotel I really can't say enough good things about it.

My wife and myself booked the hotel for two nights to attend a wedding. I paid the £74.40 deposit and the balance of £173.60 on arriving at the hotel. A total of £248.00. The first room we were shown to was room 3 on the first floor. This is situated at the front of the house facing the main road. There was traffic noise from the road so we had to have the window closed. There is no A/C so the room soon became to hot. Directly outside the window is the hotel name display complete with flood lights to illuminate the hotels name. Not a problem if there are blackout blinds which there isn't. The toilet seat was well used and stained with urine. On the rim of the toilet there is a brown stains that are caused due to rusty screws in the toilet seat. The toilet door doesn't close properly. The ceiling in the bedroom has only been half painted. The room itself is in need of make over. We asked to move and were given the only other room available. Number 6 is situated at the rear of the house. Unfortunately this room also had problems. It is also on the first floor. Below the window is a large extractor fan which I presume is from the kitchen. This would come on automatically and was rather noisy. Again, we had to ensure the window was closed. Again, there is no AC in the room so was to hot at times. The shower power is negligible and very little water. I asked a member of staff if I was doing something wrong in using it.

Fantastic hotel. Really nice staff they will make you feel very welcome and pull all the stops to make your stay at the Gables Special. 10/10 from me.

1st time experience. Receptionist very warm and friendly. Rooms are easy to access from reception and very clean.

Wow. I cant say enough about the gables such a fantastic and friendly hotel. We got married at anvil hall on 30/8/2011 and we had our reception and stayed here after. The reception was fantastic the hotel staff went above and beyond to help make our day and stay a perfect one. Nothing was ever to much trouble the food was amazing as was our bridal suite. So happy we chose to stay at the gables and we would like to thank all the staff for making our day and stay so special x.

Stayed at this hotel late November 2010 when the UK was gripped in Artic weather. The only complaint we have is that it didn't snow enough for us to be stranded and continue to receive the fantastic hospitality from ALL of the staff. Great hotel. Excellent value for money. Thankyou to all at The Gables.

Myself, wife, daughter and 18 month old Grandson had a bar meal in this hotel on Monday afternoon (01/12/08) at approx 1600. My daughter had checked the menu on the internet before we went and it looked really nice. On arrival at the hotel, the young lady showed us to a table and then gave us the menu. On looking at the menu it would be lucky if it had half the items on it that we had seen via the internet and priced much higher. We said to the young waitress (who was very pleasant) that we had expected more to choose from, but she said this had been the menu for the last 4 months. We each ordered a main course which was average, so anyone going to this Hotel, do not expect to get a menu the same as the one on the internet. We have visited once, but am afraid we will not visit again.
