Quite a nice hotel, but no restaurant for evening meals. But someone really needs to teach the chef how to cook scrambled eggs! They are either sloppy and under cooked or turn out like shredded dried omelette. Come on guys, it only has one ingredient, it cant be that hard!

It looks old, but it's very cozy. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Hotel, quiet, with spacious rooms. Within walking distance of the Grassmarket and the Royal mille. Breakfast was very good. We went in January with two girls of 4 and 8 years old, and everything went very well.

Stranded in Edinburgh by the snow, the hotel staff did their best, and put up with frequent changes of plan. I couldn't have been better looked after! The same went for my international colleagues, some of whom had never seen snow before! Oh, and the food was good, even for colleagues who had never seen haggis before.

The hotel is clean and feels comfy. The rooms are spacious with a large double bed and a big sofa. The thick carpet adds a good feel to the room. The services are excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I didn't have my shaving kit with me so I was given one for free. The breakfasts both the Scottish and Continental were delicious. We will definitely come back in the future.

My room was large and clean. The beds were very comfortable! I had everything I needed. I had dinner one night and the burger and roll was absolutely delicious! The staff was very accommodating and helpful!

Very nice hotel within easy walking distance of most of the local attractions. Located on a quiet street. Room was a great size, very clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the upgrades for the room — they were very reasonable and weren't just throw-ins. Could not have asked for better value for cost.

Clean rooms and very friendly staff, especially Antonio who has been helpful also for various suggestions for visiting the city. Also excellent breakfast, I would add, from Italian, just something more than dessert. Overall perfect stay. The hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the centre.

Staff were friendly, room was clean and modern. Excellent location for our needs and the subsidised car parking was great. Breakfast was good and set us up for the day. I would stay here again.

Excellent quality of sleep with comfortable bed and space, very clean rooms, staff available on 24 hours and good breakfast continental and very good one served Scottish. The location is good, 10 minutes walk to the Royal Mile and the bus stop at 20 meters. Excellent choice.

Hotel is just off Grass Market, so a prime location. It was quiet, with comfortable rooms and helpful staff. They have an interesting upgrade package also with wines and choccies for a good price. A really pleasant stay. It is a little wibbly to find at first, but worth it.

This has to be the best hotel I have ever stayed at. It is very clean and the employees are the friendliest people I have ever met working at a hotel.

Decent and place is kept clean and tidy. Parking is a utter nightmare. The machine in the side street is an eyewatering £3.00 for only 1 hour. I almost passed out seeing that.

Strategic location. Former maternity hospital. Suggestive outward appearance. Well connected with bus stops. Renovated, spacious, warm rooms. Great restaurant, delicious dinner and breakfast. Helpful staff. Average prices. If you return to Edinburgh book no doubt the room at this hotel.

The room is very clean and the bathroom is very nice. Very friendly staff who provided us map of the city and the main areas to visit. Recommended.

Beautiful to see from the outside, completely renovated inside. It is no more than 15 minutes from the castle and the Royal Mile. The service is good, the staff is courteous and prepared and speaks a great English, understandable even by those who do not juggles well the language. The rooms are comfortable: equipped with TV, various outlets, spacious wardrobe and desk, safe, and also a kettle for tea or coffee at any time.
I was really good, I sincerely hope that I can happen the opportunity to go back.

We loved our stay here and will definitely return. We had stunning views of the castle from our room. Can wait for our next break. Staff very friendly and very quiet hotel. Highly recommend.

Just had a great coffee at the Edinburgh City Hotel, their free Wi-Fi is really fast. I'll definitely be coming back here soon to catch up on business when I'm looking for a comfortable place to sit with the laptop.

Excellent hotel for a good price in the heart of the city. Clean, neat, beautiful.

Bathroom trash hadn't been emptied from previous guest. Glasses in the BATHROOM were DIRTY. There were no curtains on my windows, with buildings directly across the street. I used pillow cases. Television didn't pick up any outside channels. Clock wasn't set forward — was one hour off. All in all, it was like the room that time forgot. We were charged for breakfasts that we had already paid for through our package. Language gap was interesting. By the way, the internet they offer is S-L-O-W. We ordered a pizza delivery and I swear we could have walked there, ordered, waited for it to cook and walked back to the hotel in the time it took the outdated browser to finally put our order through. Even Facebook noticed that the browser was inadequate. It was a place to sleep.
