Dirty, lacking in basics and no breakfast available. A quick summary: website said all rooms were en suite with shower gel. Got there to find no bathroom, just a shower room I had to share with two others without an extractor fan (or shower gel. ) There was sellotape across the bathroom window where it had cracked and a lot of damp. Website said there was hanging space for clothes and seemed to list nice pictures of rooms. The length of the room was only about a foot longer than the length of my bed, and just as narrow. There was no wardrobe, only a chest of draws. To top this, whoever decked out the room couldn't be bothered to even put a pair of curtains up. They were obviously trying to save money by putting only one of a pair up simply because they could get away with it. (See picture attached) Website says there is breakfast available. When I called I was told their kitchen was 'offline' and was given no reason. I booked for the Fringe festival late, meaning I had little choice on where I stayed, as all other hotels were full. This hotel capitalises on this, charging £65 per night for a terrible stay. I am never staying there again.
Got here at 20.45 went to my room on on the 3rd floor and it was like walking into a cupboard. Bed near the floor… bathroom across the landing. Left at 5am. Could only park up the road. But It was somewhere reasonable to put my head down after an 8 hr journey.

Having booked then reading the reviews I was a little concerned… I need not have been. Check in and out was a doddle. The place is an old house so wasnt expecting the Premier Inn. It had charm was clean and tidy and our bed and towels were changed anytime we needed. You could come and go as you please and didnt see or hear another soul even though they were fully booked. If you are expecting concierge service with 4 poster bed etc dont book. But if your looking for somewhere to lay your head and have a shower this is the place. I would say though the bed we had was a hard mattress and 1 thin pillow, after hours of walking we found it uncomfortable also the cups provided for hot drinks were small and we like a cuppa so we bought 2 normal size mugs (none of these things were a biggy to us) Maybe my advice would be to bring extra pillows with you and a couple of mugs. Thank you Edinburgh Thistle we loved our stay with you.
