Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Always a pleasure to go to the rhydspence. Highly recommended.

Great pub with awesome food.

Nice enough place with pretty average food but I found a large length of string in my roast turkey dinner. When I spoke to the waitress she apologized. The manager then came out and said “sorry but it comes with string from the butchers” to me this is not an apology and not an acceptable excuse. She then became quite rude and shouted that I should have notified them immediately (which I did! ) and that she had already said sorry. I had to ask for my meal to be comped and she offered to take off the kids meal (?! The error was with my meal which was almost twice the price of my child’s?! ) I would have been happy with a proper apology and the affected meal compensated. But I do not accept the rude behavior of the manager. We left immediately and could not recommend this place.

Really nice outside spaces to be safe in current rules. I Didn't book, but I was just 1 person not stopping too long, so make sure you book as very busy.
Service very quick and food delicious. Would recommend seabass with shellfish sauce, filled by Baileys cheesecake. Have booked to return in a couple of weeks time. Prices OK.

First visit post lockdown x3 and we were not disappointed, very corvid safe, fantastic welcome, super efficient customer service! Great food and drink! Thank you guys can’t wait to return for Sunday lunch xx.

The inn is lovely and cosy in a beautiful part of the country. Lunch and dessert was delicious.

Called in tonight for tea very last minute. Staff were fantastic and super helpful. Social distancing procedures clear and thought out and food was absolutely delicious, my 2 kids were equally as impressed. We had such a lovely evening will definitely be back again. Xx.

Such a friendly warm atmosphere spotlessly clean and spacious room with a great variety of delicious dishes not forgetting the delicious breakfast.

A cosy inn with excellent food and service. Equally good for a romantic evening or a family dinner party. We had a fabulous evening for my 60th birthday at the Rhydspence Inn. We look forward to many more visits.

Lovely old building, nice garden, large carpark, excellent food and very friendly staff and Landlord. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. A very well run Pub and Thankyou for letting us stay in our Motorhome overnight in your carpark. Will certainly look you up if ever we’re in this part of the country again.

Both me and my wife have loved it here. Great welcome from mark and lowri. Food was outstanding. Loved being able to have quiet drink in an alcove or be in the bar with others chatting and having a great laugh. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you.

Ate here tonight for the first time. The food was absolutely delicious! We both had the steak and it was the nicest bit of steak I have ever had and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be coming back here to eat.

Called in here yesterday for a quick drink & ended up having the best meal & pudding I have ever had! My partner also felt the same. Fantastic food & a stunning pub in a beautiful location.

The food was amazing. Excellent in fact. Very well presented. Unfortunately got over excited and forgot to take photo of the meals. My partner had Scampi, very lightly battered and all fish. Which we find rare these days. I had Belly pork. Lots of meat, not fatty at all. Excellent service by 2 young ladies. All staff very friendly and helpful and welcoming.

One of our favourite places to eat. Mark, the host, is always welcoming and the food is well-cooked and never disappoints. My husband says they have the best Sticky Toffee Pudding around!

The food is always delicious whether you go for lunch, evening meal, Sunday lunch or Christmas party, it's always great homemade food, the service is always friendly and efficient, the only thing I find let's it down is when you eat in the resturant, not the bar, it can be a cold unwelcoming room… it's amazing what a little background music could Do!

Staff welcoming and friendly! Nice atmosphere. Lovely log fire warming the bar! Food delicious and cooked to perfection! We had fillet steak, sirloin steak and the roast chicken with black pudding, leeks and Stilton. Everyone enjoyed! Home made onion rings were lush! Sticky toffee pudding and baileys cheesecake for afters! Superb!

Stayed last night after a gap of forty years. Had fond memories of the place and wasn't disappointed. Steaks were delicious and the staff very welcoming.

Such a beautiful place to have a stunning restaurant, staff are friendly, service is great, and the food was amazing, I will go as far as to say, best food I've had for a very long time, will definitely be recommending to my friends and family.

We were in Hay on Wye for a glass blowing experience at the Eirian craft studio,. Came down overnight from mid Wales… We had a lovely stay in this hotel… in the oldest part. With the four post bed. Very comfortable en suite… love the olde worlde atmosphere in this 14c Inn. We had the evening meal and it was all delicious… wine very good value. £13 good price unusual these days… breakfast was great. Plenty and tasty… staff very friendly and helpful… loved it all … even up the old staircase. So much better than the usual corporate hotels… bland and antiseptic. With no atmosphere of olde worlde.

Extensive restaurant menu, providing superbly cooked and reasonably priced food. Good service from friendly staff. Recommended.

We live in Hay. We have known this pub since using it as teenagers and as a place for the family to eat and drink. The pub has had it's up and downs over the 50 odd years I have known it. Mark and Lowry and family have brought it back to life. This is now one of the very best pub/hotel in the area to use for good beer, a great selection of wines and superb food served with a smile in a friendly and comfortable environment at sensible prices.

Recently moved to Dolycannau and have been twice since our move, fabulous atmosphere, friendly hosts and food delicious!
Used to come here a lot a few years ago with family who lived in the area, loved the pub then but it is so much better now than it was then. Much friendlier and cosy.

Have a couple beers in the garden lovely spot.

From entering the hotel the welcome was 5star. After a day out in Hay on Wye, we spent the evening in front of the fire talking to other guest Lovley relaxed atmosphere. Food was amazing.
