What an absolutely stunning Hotel with such friendly and helpful staff! The food was out of this world and the room we stayed in was so clean and comfortable! The kids loved it as they're so accommodating for children. We've booked again for another visit in a few months and can't wait!

Had our christmas lunch today at Carmelite and were so so pleased with the food and service we received. Staff were so friendly and attentive to all tables and couldn't do enough for us and the food was incredible. We had such a lovely time we are already thinking about returning next year!

I recently went there for Christmas do and I enjoyed the company but not the hotel reception it was awful they are too greedy. They squeezed us into a small place and it felt so cramped and not enjoyable place. The place is looking so old and rundown. The beef that I had was nice and soft but it was dehydrated hardly gravy on it. My friends were complaining of their turkey meal that was awful not worth of £50.00 per head it was worth less than £20.00. I don't want to come back to this hotel.

Would still recommend based on previous visits but was there this evening at a bring a party to a party and, although enjoyed the evening greatly, it was more due to the company than the hotel. Overall opinion is that they tried way to hard to squeeze as many Xmas punters in as possible to the point where it was far too cramped. Waitress chewing gum and blowing bubbles whilst working the floor not good. One of our group is gluten and dairy intolerant and (acknowledging she had not made them aware) asked if just some fruit could be provided instead of the sweet to be advised the only fruit that had was reserved for decorating other dishes. Zero table service of drinks available despite being a party of 30. Not one of your best nights Carmelite!

This is the second time I have gone for an afternoon tea here and had an awful experience. We decided to try again because we had a couple spree vouchers to use. The service was very slow having to wait about 50 mins to get our afternoon tea. When it was time to pay we handed over our vouchers to which we got told we couldn’t use them as hadn’t showed them when we ordered (didn’t place an order as we were booked in for afternoon tea). The ladies next to us also got told they couldn’t use their voucher either for some reason but had displayed it when ordering. We were told that it was up to the manager if a voucher is allowed to be used and it apparently states this in the spree book. Never heard of this before at any other place I have used vouchers. The manager was very abrupt and clearly didn’t want us to use a voucher. Won’t be returning.

All the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for our wedding. The food was amazing especially the sticky toffee pudding. Thank you so much for everything.

Stayed in the Japanese Suite to celebrate my 50th Birthday and it was amazing xx the attention to detail and all the little extras meant the hotel had gone above and beyond our expectation even leaving a card and gift in the room whilst we were out for the evening. Great cocktail on our return and lovely breakfast in the morning. The owner took the time to show us around the other suites and to explain the story of the antique furniture in each room. Will definitely be booking to stay again in another unique suite… the slipper baths are amazing xx Thankyou Carmelite for a lovely stay xx.

Our room was awful, tiny and very very dated. I know it’s a boutique hotel but we were extremely disappointed with the room. The toilet/shower looked like a prison cell and had a metal floor in the shower! Staff were lovely.

Stayed for 2 nites highly recommend, such an eclectic vibe. Owners are lovely make u feel so welcome. Food was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Nuart's annual go to hotel and restaraunt, incredible service, great breakfasts and beautiful rooms. A classic boutique hotel that oozes the style and charm usually missing from corporate chain hotels. Do yourself a favour and book one of the suites. A great base to launch yourself into the city and surrounding shire. Highly recommended.

Food and drink excellent, staff could not do enough for us. Will hopefully get back again next year, god willing.

Had a 2 course lunch here very good for the price. Staff friendly and helpful. Will go again. Interesting decor. They also do whisky, wine tasting dinners for around £25 per head already booked one.

Good hotel in the central area in Aberdeen. Rooms are spacious and clean. Hotel bar, quiet and ideal for a beer or whiskey in company.

Staff are lovely, the meal was incredible and good value for money. Room was lovely but only complaint was it sounded like we could hear when everyone used to toilet — not sure what the noise was but sounded like rattling pipes. But ear plugs were provided so they had accommodated for that. Overall a lovely stay! Just need a few more milks with the teas and coffees.

What a wonderful find here in Aberdeen. From the extremely accommodating staff to the tasty food & beverages, we highly recommend checking this place out. Unique & original decor, vegan & vegetarian options for those of us who prefer not to eat the traditional haggis & blood sausages. Management was very attentive to our requests & made every effort to guide us in all things historical in the area. Thank you Carmelite Bar & Grill!

Had my Charity Dinner on 30th June, 2018. The events manager Nicole was lovely & very helpful. Food was a bit delayed (took a while to bring main meal after starter) but the food was beautiful. Loved the room setting. Loved everything provided including our welcome bubbly. You definitely know how to host a party Nicola. Everything was in place. The rooms upstairs were very clean too. I encountered one rude patron outside later in the man. One that did not know how to take a joke nor smile. But one person can not spoil the beautiful work/effort made to give us a wonderful night. I will use the venue always.

Great budget option for the city centre. We paid £40 room only. Our room was small and basic but did the job. The bathroom was huge with a great shower. Staff pleasant and helpful and we got a carpark space for £10 for the night. Definitely would use again.

Not very impressed. The room is big but not finished that well. The TV doesn't work. The toilet door squeeks very loudly. Single glazing windows so you can hear the drunk people outside. No toiletries in the bathroom except hand soap.

Loved the room, loved the atmosphere in the bar down stairs. Ideal for an enjoyable stay in central Aberdeen. Ear plugs provided in room if your a light sleeper. The owners know their area and work extremely hard to make your stay enjoyable. Best nachos I've ever had and breakfast was sublime. Haddock n eggs. Will be back.

Busy and poor service was told market menu for was available all day every day but on arrival told it was not ready. Seemed more geared up for high tea rather than lunch. Service was slow.

This building has character. I don't know it's history, but it definitely has one. No two rooms are the same, it seems. Furnishings are not the most modern, but it's not the same plastic ticky-tacky that you see in the big chain hotels. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Every one of them is polite, cheerful, friendly, and a pleasure to chat with. They will even recommend other neighborhood restaurants standing in the middle of their own lovely eating area. (The food is is great, and atmosphere both cozy and special) Don't miss afternoon tea.

I had a Boozy Brunch here a few weeks ago and it was a very pleasant and un-rushed affair. Attentive staff and good quality food made for a good time. I might have expected a little more than 1 of every normal breakfast item for the price, but maybe I'm being greedy. Nice place to while away some hours with good friends.

I organised a surprise meal for my partner, staff were great, was an excellent meal, and they made out menus for the evening with her name on it, took professional group photo with the Birthday girl that can be printed out as a momento and all in all we couldn’t have asked for a better night, big thank you to the staff on the night, they even memorised who was drinking what, absolutely amazing, would highly recommend the Carmelite for any special function, we were in The library room which held 30 people comfortably, lovely room and decor! Thanks again folks!

Terrible experience considering the amount of money that was spent. Staff were rude and offensive and people left as they were having such a bad time leaving a lot of food and drink. After complaining staff were unhelpful and did not seem genuinely apologetic at all. Will not be back and will advise everyone else to stay clear too. Also I would recommend popping a post up on your website about not being happy with large parties booking because people want to have a good time not sit like they are at a wake. If we were aware of this we would never have booked here.

We travelled to Aberdeen on Saturday for my daughters hen weekend and were booked into the Carmelite for the Mad Hatters tea party. We were reprimanded on numerous occasions by the member of staff who spent so much time in our private room I started to think he had been invited to the party rather than just working there. At one point while playing a party game I turned around to see him having a good laugh and apparently thoroughly enjoying our company. He did not however find our blow up doll funny and asked repeatedly that we move him from the window as he would upset people in the street. The doll was happily moved to a chair but above mentioned gentleman barged in and moved the chair from view of diners in grill area as once again it was deemed offensive. We therefore closed the curtains at the door of the room in order to block off our “offensive” behaviour, but staff made a point of frequently flinging them open. A bottle of prosecco which was paid for as part of our “party” package was taken away before it was even opened. The member of staff was actually asked to leave the room by one of our party in the end. The entire party left over an hour earlier than we were meant to. However before escaping staff tried to charge additional money despite the fact it had all been paid for in advance. The bridesmaid managed to prove this by showing her online banking where the charge was clearly displayed.

Went during Aberdeen Jazz Festival. Performance was done in the library room which was very nice, cosy and intimate. Staff were fab, polite and very accommodating.

We had an afternoon tea booked for 3:45pm. We received a table at that time and were left for 20 minutes without being spoken to. We then gave a drinks order and asked for the afternoon tea (even though it was pre booked). Cups of tea came but no food. We then asked again. It was a good 40 minutes before food came. We were really disappointed with the service.

Read till the end Hotel was lovely All staff A* very friendly, helpful and always ready to serve nothing was ever too much trouble for them… food delicious plus point you can use taste card on meals 241. The let down was somethings in the room 1. Fans in toilet & shower room way too loud. 2. Gets cool at night does say heater provided but to be honest I wasn’t up for looking for it in the middle of the night. 3. The bed was rock hard I mean like it had the mattress replaced with bricks and that’s me being kind I slept on the pillows as it was that uncomfortable (however we had 2 friends staying in different rooms and ours seemed to be the only hard bed) Good points of the room lovely layout & decor in room. Room had hairdryer, iron& ironing board & kettle. Had a full length mirror & a table mirror with lighting above it for doing make up. Had freeview an as I’m a massive Dave fan I could watch in bed before dozing off…

On arrival I was taken aback by the hotel. Everything I had hoped for and then some. I had booked one of the superior rooms as I was really looking forward to a long relaxing soak in the roll top Bath. However the bathrooms extractor fan was so loud I couldn't hear myself think let alone relax after a long day visiting customers and driving a couple of hundred miles. The bedroom itself was stunning… Well until I looked at the make shift wardrobe of a couple of shelves and a curtain. The bed was however fabulous and I past out cold. The room could have done with better heating or getting the seals on the (what appear to be original) windows as with the very high ceiling it did get rather cold over night. All in all I will stay here again but I do hope they get the fans looked at as the bathroom was the biggest selling point for me.

Great hotel. Boutique vibe with a vibrant bar and restaurant. Rooms are comfortable and the price makes for a value stay.

A very quirky budget hotel. Bed in room 212 was extremely comfortable and I slept very well. Room very unusual and pleasant. Only criticism is a some parts are a little tatty around the edges and fan in bathroom buzzed longer than I liked after turning the light off. Would highly recommend having regard to the price!

Fantastic afternoon tea. Great food and great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and efficient. And a game of Jenga at every table.

Very old building with uneven floors, can't be helped. Room was clean. However bathroom could do with freshen up paint chipped and flaking. Breakfast was good and reasonably price. I had an unexpected visitor in my room. The hotel staff had reallocated my room to someone else after I checked in so just into bed and in walks a gentleman, both rather confused. Hotel manager? I think did however come to door half an hour later to apologise and blame the computer system.

Put on your thermal underwear. Good night spoiled by freezing cold room. Other parts of hotel not much better.

Room was lovely (216), with nice decor. Bath was steep to get in and out of with no handle though. Strange barman serving when we stopped for drinks at the bar on our first night put us off for the remainder. Carmelite Ale was terrible and the worst I've ever tasted. Breakfast rolls were cheap and tasty and the manageress was efficient and friendly. All the local staff were professional. Another new (? ) girl who served us at breakfast had terrible personal hygiene and would put you off your breakfast. Would stay again for proximity to station.

The Carmelite is trendy and well located, but it comes with a price: noise! The establishment is a pub with rooms, music, live piano, and the noise from those smoking outside makes it hard to get a good night sleep, unless you use the earplugs you will find in your nightstand (see pic), and risk not hearing your alarm in the morning. The breakfast is absolute chaos. Expect to be at breakfast between 40 and 50 minutos. No warm dishes available in the buffet so plan on ordering and waiting and waiting. The lack of response and empathy from the breakfast staff makes the wait seem longer. The food is plain, hard to understand the delays. Finaly, the shower is worth mentioning too. The floor in the shower is made of a metal grid that feels terrible and makes horrible noise. Never seen anything like it.

Was here for interview. Bar looked stunning and was both trendy and homely at once. Bar staff were friendly and they had a good drink selection.

It's open to non residents for food and drinks. Scott front of house has been so helpful and friendly. He is a wonderful ambassador for the Carmelite Hotel.

It's so quirky in the carmelite hotel. I went for dinner just at the time when the afternoon tea was ending. The place was full with people from all age groups. The food was delicious, service great and ambiance perfect.

The Carmelite Hotel has an excellent lounge atmosphere with a few cool and unique features such as double bed tables and spinning booths. Would highly recommend as a place to relax with some food and drinks.

Quite a promising start but rapidly downhill from there. Dropped by for some drinks with friends and we were ignored by the staff. The cacophony of a pianist got going which delighted all the _children_ in the lounge. On a Saturday night! Playing Jenga. Finally managed to order a few cocktails and then when the round arrived it bore no resemblance to what we had ordered (apart from its name). Queired this with staff who confirmed that what we got was not what we ordered. To cap it all, we were then double charged for the drink that the bar got wrong. We pointed this out to staff but no real attempt to respond was made. Recommended other better options in the area.

Good two night stay at Carmelite Hotel. Very central and good price for room/breakfast. Nice sized room with good bathroom, and very tidy. Breakfast was also very good. My only complaint would be that it was quite cold during the night due to a thin duvet cover.

I made a booking 2 weeks in advance for a friend's birthday. When I made the booking we were asked of any allergies to which we stated the birthday girl is gluten free. I was the told there would be an additional charge for ordering gluten free. Upon arrival we waited around 15 minutes for drinks. Needless to say we were asked again of any allergies and again had to say Gluten. When our afternoon tea arrived I was presented with a beautiful tier of cakes, scone and sandwiches while my gluten free birthday girl was presented with a tin lunchbox with a sandwich cut into 4 and 2 gluten free biscuits. When we complained at the sparsity of the gluten free option we asked the waiter to take it back. The staff were cheeky to say the least.

I would not even give this hotel a star! My husband and I decided to stay at this hotel based on the reviews but now I'm thinking they were all made up, we did not enjoy our stay at all! Firstly the hotel doesn't have a proper reception area, when we walked in we had to wait a while to be helped and than had to walk through the restaurant with our bags to our room. It was such a dark and eerie looking room which was supposed to have been "newly decorated". There is no Wi-Fi as advertised and there are people drunkenly screaming and arguing outside the whole night, there was a constant banging coming from the bathroom and to top it all off the parking was advertised on the site as free only to be surprised with a fine in the morning once we got to our car! When we complained to the staff about this issue they were very unhelpful and we were very upset! I would never stay at this hotel again and I will never recommend this hotel to anyone either! Terrible disappointment and not worth the money!

Had an amazing time with a few family an friends for my mums birthday. We loved the funfair tea party! Food was excellent, atmosphere was brilliant and staff were lovely! Highly recommend!

Being a venue dresser, we need things to go smoothly and we sometimes need the venue to make things easy for us. Carmelite are wonderful, Very polite service, easy access, and a dream to do, wish more venue's were like this. Well done carmelite.

It's been the 2nd time I stayed and the 2nd time I've been disappoined. There is NO or scatchy internet connection despite being promised on the rooms and in the lobby, and being on business without internet access is simply not acceptible! Nobody seems to care much, customer satisfaction is not one of their strong trades. One is just being told "we're sorry, we're trying to fix it" but this is where it stops and nothing is being actually resolved. I'm checking our early and stay in an other hotel. I will certainly not come back to the Carmelite! High room rates and non compliant service promise don't go together.

Despite our short stay I feel compelled to commend the staff of the Carmelite for doing everything possible to make our stay an enjoyable one. The food was excellent, I had steak and my partner had salmon, both delicious. The décor is really fun and novel with an array of styles from stain glass windows to a mad hatters tea party room. The room was slightly small but more than adequate for us and again we really enjoyed the styling of the room from its velvet curtains and large plasma TV to the bathroom with walk-in shower (one of their "designed rooms" approximately £30 more than the standard). The hotel is really close to the train station making it a great choice for the early morning traveller. The bar and restaurant give the hotel a vibrant and full of life feel that may not suit all travellers but I for one know where I will be staying if we find ourselves in Aberdeen again.

Visited for meal under the Groupon offer for 2 people value £34. I had starter and main course and my wife had main course and sweet. Stater was vegeteable soup with small breadroll quite nice but would have been been better if butter was served as well. Main course was shin of beef. Was served the smallest portion we have ever experienced in 40 years of visiting restaurants. Similarly the sweet portion could only be described as miserly. All 3 plates served would not have fed a child and we fail to see how they claim to give a £34 valuation on this reduced portion menu exclusive to Groupon clients. Do not visit the Carmelite if you have an apetite larger than a 5 year old.
