Not the greatest experience at this hotel
We went during covid so expected certain changes
Stayed for two nights
1st issue was the parking! There’s a few spaces outside but u have to pay every 1-2 hours up to 6pm
No discount for guests or passes
Big pain having to keep popping back Room was spacious and clean can not fault No bar facilities although we were told u could order drinks to your room before 6pm by one staff member then told you can’t have anything by another u had to preorder your simple cold breakfast which was boxed cereal yogurt cereal bar or fruit and pre packed muffin or croissant
No eating facilities so you had to eat this in your room Wi-Fi was awful I know this isn’t a huge deal but with all the restrictions felt you could of offered a better service.

Lovely hotel close to all amenities and staff were very helpful … stayed for 2 nights … baked eggs with ham n mushrooms was fab … very tasty. Already recommended to family and friends A+++ guys.

We booked a stay in the apartments that are offered by Ranald Hotel. Positives: — the staff are so lovely and helpful and the customer service was outstanding
— the location is super close to the Main Street
Negatives: — the apartment is meant to sleep a family of four but only sleeps 2 adults and one child. It’s not a fold out sofa that sleeps 2 — it’s a futon that sleeps one child (and definitely not one adult! ) which is a disaster as we needed to fit 2 children on the sofa bed and have had to buy a blow up mattress to fit us in — no Wi-Fi for our stay.

I had my wedding in Oban and stayed at the Ranald. It is a lovely hotel that is very central with the harbour, shops and restaurants in walking distance. The staff here are amazing. On arrival and during the course of our 3 night stay we were made to feel very welcome. They went above and beyond to make the morning of our wedding as stress free as possible — delivering my wedding flowers to my room on the third floor was just one of many things they did. The manager also very kindly brought us complimentary drinks while my bridal party and I were getting ready. A few days later, after we had left, a member of staff phoned to say a bouquet of flowers had been delivered to the hotel for me and offered to have them delivered to me. If you are visiting Oban I would highly recommend staying at The Ranald Hotel. We had the best experience here and will definitely be back!

Nice rooms, decorated in Scottish style, excellent breakfast with GF options. Bad Internet sign in the room. Impossible to use. Only Good Signal reception.

Great stay, rooms are perfectly formed and quiet, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. A packed lunch was made the night before for us so we could grab first thing and get the early morning ferry to the Inner Hebrides.

Lovely hotel, rooms spacious and very clean, only had 17 rooms so noise is a minimum, breakfast is worth getting up for, selection is small but something different than the normal full English, try the egg and cheese it's lovely, staff friendly and nice.

My only issue with this hotel was breakfast service. The staff in the morning looked like they wanted to be anywhere else in the world. However the girl at check-in was lovely. When we went down for some drinks in the evening she was really friendly and chatted away. The room is a good size, clean, and comfortable. The only thing is it's city centre so can be quite noisy, especially on a weekend, which is when we visited. The breakfast was basic but nice. Although the hot food was warmed in a microwave so nothing too special. Personally I think breakfast would be better with a few extra pastries and without the hot food. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely little boutique hotel, rooms so comfy and spacious and staff. Really helpful, breakfast quirky due to size if hotel, most enjoyable would stay here again.

Nothing to complain. Friendly staff, clean welcoming environment. Room comfortable and cozy, good nights sleep had, spacious room. Breakfast was good plenty choice. Good location next to main Street.

I stayed for the New Year 4 nights in total very highly recommended clean and tidy room and all the staff was very polite and helpful I will go back soon
The only downfall is no lift.

Large, comfortable and clean rooms. Breakfast was nice. No restaurant so no dinner option. Parking is paid on-street.

Basic but suited what we wanted. Only negative was the room was absolutely booking during the night with only a small window for fresh air!

A small but well run Hotel. Pleasant and helpful staff. Close to the rail station and city centre.

We enjoyed a night at this small but comfortable little hotel. The room was a good size and it was nicely decorated and furnished. The breakfast was somewhat limited in choice but perfectly adequate to get you off to a good start in the morning, and the service was excellent. Our room was on the ground floor facing the rear of the hotel, with two smallish windows which faced directly onto a shear rock face. My wife was somewhat taken aback when she first saw it but came to terms with it soon after. I on the other hand found it quite interesting, the shapes, contours, and colours of the Rock, I found most interesting. Would I return to this hotel, a definite yes.

Just back from an over night stay. Hotel came highly recommended, and couldn't fault it. Lovely spacious room, comfortable bed and feather pillows. Enjoyed a few night caps in the bar… very reasonably priced! Great breakfast in the morning, first time trying baked eggs… delicious. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends.

Second time staying here … love it … lovley warm comfortable room, excellent breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Great value. The rooms are tight, let's say cosy, but that wasn't a problem. The breakfast is excellent, especially the baked eggs.

Great Central location in Oban, able to walk everywhere. Rooms small but very comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous.

Great baked eggs. Try the fresh oysters at the dock. Amazing.

Myself and my partner have stayed in this hotel several times and love, love, love it! We will go back again for sure great location, lovely hotel and friendly staff. The cocktails in the bar are fantastic too!

Nice Hotel with comfortable Rooms, a little bit too warm inside.

Very nice room and bathroom… good shower, but the stairs could be a bit daunting if there was a mobility issue.

Hotel seemed to be newish, breakfast was ok-ish, not bad but not exceptional either. Staff was looking disinterested. Wifi problems, all the floors were dropping in and out like every minute and their response was "Internet is somewhat temperamental"…

We spent a night here in May 2016. The hotel is in a great location, just a minutes walk away from the Oban Bay & Harbor. The room was clean and well equipped (electric water boiler with instant coffee & tea, hair dryer, etc. ). Friendly staff & the breakfast had a wide selection of tasty foods. The one major complaint would be the internet connection, which was basically unusable in our room, our phones & computer kept disconnecting (it was fine however in the lobby & reception). As we came here recreationally it wasn't a big deal to us, but for a business traveler this might be of some concern.

Nice location in town, room looked good but was a bit dirty. Bed was very hard.

We had a lovely stay would give it a 9 out of 10, bed a bit hard, maybe think of mattress toppers as I like a firm bed but they were definetly too hard. But everything else was wonderful. Xx will book soon to go back!

Lovely hotel, great location Would definitely recommend this hotel.

It is very overpriced for what it is. There are much better hotels in town in this price range. Disappointed. Poor value for money. Would not recommend.

Friendly staff, lovely room — would definitely return.

Friendly staff, nice Scottish breakfasts, cozy bar, wonderful rooms. There's no lift, but there are rooms below for those who can't do the stairs. I'd definitely stay there again, for it's very close to the ferry terminal and train station. I left my camera charger behind when I went over to Mull for a couple of days. When I returned to Oban, I stopped by the Ranald to see if I could retrieve it. They had it waiting at the front desk for me.

Visited the Ranald from 1st to 3rd of March with my friend and our partners. Hotel was beautiful rooms were georgous — well deserving of its 4 stars! Staff could not be more helpful, really down to earth and friendly. We dined at Waterfront and Cuan Mor resturants food, service and staff wonderful! Breakfast of Baked Eggs — delicious! Will definately be returning and are already singing the Hotel's praises. All the best for the future.
