I've given a star for the comfy clean bed and one for the breakfast. The decor is tired and frankly appalling. It was cheap but hardly cheerful.

Staff really nice and evening meal very pleasant. Not an overly expensive hotel. We will be back.

Had a good stay. Excellent food well presented. Staff were attentive. Warm and friendly. Entertainment live and unique. But refreshing as there was no bingo … We went with David Urquhart excellent experience comfortable coach Driver Mark was a good all round attentive to passengers needs and did make every effort to mix with those in the hotel hospitality indeed you do mater well done Mark for a refreshing experience.

Beautiful building in a stunning location. The place does need a lot of TLC, as it is very run down. The staff though are excellent, nothing was too much trouble. This could be an outstanding establishment, with upgrade investment.

Hotel with views over the River Clyde, very dated rooms with average food, but very helpful and friendly staff. Entertainment every night. Walks along beach and up hill behind to Bishops Glen, nice. A few birds about Hooded Crow, Oystercatchers, Curlew, Redshank and Eider Duck.

Just back from David Urquhart travel to Dunoon had fantastic birthday weekend staff where so nice friendly only down side would be the deco us it was a wee bit old fashion but girls saying there started record but everything else was fabulous.

Stayed at hotel for five days with coach tour, it is a little tired and in needed of refurbish but staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very basic our shower was in need of replacing due to it sending water all over the floor. The food was again quite plain but tasty could have done with a variety of potatoes we had boiled every day. That said would stay here again due to cost of tour and the lovely setting of Dunoon.

Lovely place, great location with fantastic views. Food was excellent and staff were helpful and friendly. Spent a great 5 days here. Will definitely be back.

Hotel has to pay more attention to the bedding duvet was disgusting the kettle was leaking would not be able to get out window of there was a fire. On a positive note food was good nice clean served breakfast. Up on a hill and quite far from town centre.

Spent Twixmas here. A lovely spot above the bay with good views from front rooms. The hotel is very clean as was the linen, but the decor and amenities are somewhat dated. Small rooms, but lovely hot water all the time. Food could have been better, but staff lovely and very obliging — even sending on my charger that I lost somewhere in the room. Would visit again.

This hotel does not deserve any star rating! It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and I will not be returning. Rooms were like prison cells dining room cold as ice Food was like shool dinners. Ballroom was like sitting in a block of ice the only thing missing was icebergs and polar bears. Staff were very unfriendly no rapore with guests. People in our party were without hot water the whole stay. The only upside about this trip was the coach and the driver he was very polite and friendly very informative about points of interest pity the accomodation was a massive let down this is my first coach trip I will not be repeating the experience.

I have to say this place may be dated but it is part of the charm of it, I have stayed twice now and both times the staff were amazing especially Linda who is a diamond. The food is great, entertainment was good and the bar is exceptionally priced at £1 for half a pint can’t wait to go again.

Lovely staff and food decor needs updating but who cares about decor when you are well looked after.

Just got back from this hotel staff were very friendly and the food was great the hotel is not very nice dirty paper peeling of the walls and ceilings covered in cobwebs carpets in bedrooms were very old and bare floor boards were very loose were u could hear everyone walking around cos of this the first night shower was lovely and warm but the day after no hot water in shower freezing cold water for 2 days even in the sink I will never be going back to this hotel bedding never got changed it was clean twin beds pushed together really very old fashion furniture in all rooms it says 1pound bar but that only means for a half pint wouldn't let my pet stop there never again.

To far out up on hill bit outdated rooms need new decor and carpets are worn.

Very nice hotel with a great view over the bay. But tired decor wise but clean and tidy. Staff and good are great. Had a bed problem and it was sorted very quickly and without any fuss. Would be 5 star but 1 off for decor needs.

Great place for a wee break.

The £1-50 bar was a con trick, you should tell people it is £3 — 10 pence a pint and £1 — — 50 half pint no man ever buys half pints.

Where do I start we asked for a sea view when we booked when we got to the room it was filthy every floorboard in it creaked they was cobwebs on old style sash windows been they since it was built. And the view from the window was of a flat roof and top of the Busses where they night parked. Also the carpet in our room was all stained and threadbare. The beds were really old fashioned and creaked a lot all in all a pathetic old fashioned hotel that could do with a good refurbish On a good note the driver who looked after us was Brilliant nothing was to much trouble that was the David urquhart driver Neil fantastic chap. Food very poor not much selection breakfast a full English 1bacon 1 sausage and 1 egg all the vegetables were out of tin even the potatoes really poor showing for an old established hotel just really OLD Never again.

The staff are very good. The hotel is very clean. I'm afraid its very tired if not in a coma. It's a wee bit far to walk into Dunoon unless you're fit. It's supposed to be getting a makeover soon.

Never again bus broke down twice had no hot water for 2 days because room 3 room 6 share boiler with kitchen bed was horrible big damp patch on wall food was cold very squeaky floor boards cobwebs everywhere.

Staff super friendly, beautiful view through your room window, but hotel itself needs a little refurbishing, old style fashion, good location.

Old fashioned. In need of a face lift.

Was like walking into the 1950`s but atleast it was clean. Staff are all lovely and go out their way for you. Food was great too and im a fussy eater. Really could be doing with a hook on the bedroom and bathroom door for coats or towels. Would of been nice to put some music on after the psychic left (she was absolute pants) and the next night. Beds were clean and comfy. I would go back again.

The rooms are very dirty, the beds are dirty, the wallpaper is pealing off, the roof was leaking and the bathroom is filthy. The food is not great and are tiny portions I asked for a full English and they gave me 1 sausage 1 bacon and 1 egg. The TV room is good it's clean and has a nice view and the Wi-Fi is terrible.

Very dated and dirty hotel stayed once and it was more than enough would not recommend it.

Rooms needed a clean but the staff were lovely!

Just returned from a great weekend at the hotel. The staff, food and entertainment were all very good. Our coach driver Alan from David Urquart was really nice and entertaining. We will recomend this weekend package to our friends. We met many people and they were all very friendly. The sea view room was good and very clean and comfortable.

Hotel is very dated and food is more akin to old style school meals than a modern holiday venue room was clean though a little tired in presentation and impossible to move without a lot of creaking from floorboards all in quite disappointing.
