Really poor customer service. 1 person serving on the bar despite bar being booked for a wake! An already upsetting day made worse by mismanagement and rude staff. When asked if they could put someone else on the bar they were rude and dismissive. Heartbreaking for the family as a guest.

We did come two Steves and Kate's wedding I was very proud oh the hotel had accommodated them the staff at the hotel was so polite thank you.

Poor service and rude staff! We went here for a tribute night for a hen do. Their sales team had over booked so our group of 10 was seperated over 2 tables despite having made our booking much in advance. The food orders were wrong and the team had overlooked intolerances and allergies of the bride-to-be and one of our bridesmaids and couldn't provide replacement meals. Even the room booking was wrong, we were given double beds rather than single beds as requested and booked originally.

Went for a coffee with a client haven't been for about 18 months. The place has has a complete makeover and is now very cozy and warm nice settees to sit on in private spaces coffees were a bit weak though needed to be a bit stronger. But not business atmosphere and probably good for a quiet pint.

Had a man singing UB40 not my thing and the function room was very hot but the bar was great and a big car park.

My uncle was staying there and I went to visit him before he went back abroad. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a quiet corner for a family reunion. It's in a nice quiet neighbourhood. The rooms are clean.

I normally stay at well known hotels but though I would give the great barr a try. Lovely cute hotel lovely staff enjoyed our nights stay would recommend.

Went to the Murs and Mars night on the 23rd February 2018. The singer was excellent as Bruno Mars, not so good as Olly. (stick as Bruno only) The choice of food was lasagne or lasagne! You had to pay extra for fries or garlic bread. I would have expected the sides to be in with the price for the 19.95 we paid for the evening. Also drinks are on the expensive side…

Went there for an after funeral food and drink. The food was really good but there wasn't enough tea and coffee to go around & we waited a long time for it to be refreshed. Clean room.

Not worth £ 45 to see a poor motown group that only did a1 hour session vwry disappointing never again travelled 40 miles to hotel.

This was my second event at the Great Barr Hotel. The building is clean and well looked after and the staff were friendly. I heard some people complain they'd been waiting for food for an hour but I didn't eat there so I can't comment. The only disappointment was the lack of electric vehicle charging points which I would expect for a hotel of that size.

Christmas party. Poor arrangements. Seats were cramped to fit into the table and a few people were left standing at the end. Buffet style dinner which isn’t stated when booking. The food was okay. Shortly after dinner a trash bag went around collecting rubbish while we were still seated. Definitely not coming back next year for our Christmas party.

You get what you pay for. I had a single room for a last minute stop off. Room was in need of an overhaul, I can imagine like much of the hotel. Rooms have very thin walls so I could hear every conversation going on either side. There was a very strong musty/damp smell in the room which couldn't be removed from having the window open. The fire alarm going off at 2am didn't help the experience either. Breakfast was OK and the staff pleasant enough.

Anything Barr Great! This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, the room is horrible n dark, no amenities in the room & the contestant sounds of showers and toilets flushing on the ceiling is just enough. The reception is dated, staff inattentive as for the food … It's enough to turn anyone to Bulimia if you can even get it past your lips. Seriously I have seen homeless people eat better meals! Will not and would not visit ever again! Advise : shut the doors and invest in some petrol!

Stayed one night, lovely room. Staff were super helpful and bed was very comfy.

Clean friendly great rooms nice food helpful (wedding reception) drinks to expensive 12 pound for glass of wine extortionate.

Had our wedding reception here 16/9/17 from the moment we booked with Karen who was very helpful in the arrangements down to the day itself in very capable hands of Maggs and Mark who were there to ensure we had an amazing day. There attention to detail and wedding breakfast was excellent even tho at the last second there were two young unexpected guests turn up and wasn't a problem and were catered for the evening buffet was also very good which the samosas went down well along with the rest of the food the DJ who contacted us weeks before the wedding for a playlist in which we gave to him and was played 1st dance onwards. I could go on a lot more for which I could not find fault and a good day and night was enjoyed by all the complimentary room was very nice and bed was very comfortable and morning breakfast plentiful. Overall a fantastic occasion made possible by Karen, Maggs, Mark and all hardworking and pleasant staff Many thanks to you all. Garry & Sandra Shanahan.

Average at best. No mobile coverage in my room. Good Wi-Fi.

Reasonable place but could not cope with number of visitors for food, waited over an hour and order not correct. Food was good in the end. Management quite helpful and may have been a one off problem. Why would anywhere have heating on in July?.

Room nice but service in restaurant poor and quality of food worse Asked for sirloin steak rare got rump steak well done. Menu items were missing on plate and hand cooked chips were replaced with chips covered in some flavouring which doesn't agree with me. They even expected us to pay for it till we refused.

Staff were fantastic and the breakfast was good. Bed and room we very clean and comfortable with good decor.

Nice decor. Meal was OK but not leg of lamb and appeared to be out of a packet. Wine not great. Some staff don't smile. Drinks expensive. Resident DJ looked bored to be there. Buffet food was OK but Chicken was undercooked. I wouldn't host my wedding there.

It is a basic overnight stop contractor friendly hotel. Rooms are functional and comfortable Bar is welcoming and practicable. May consider moving TV so you can hear it. Breakfast is well prepared and Good quality. Staff pleasent and helpful. Breakfast could do with being served from 06.30 though as my first meeting in city was at 07.45. Or maybe an early breakfast booking. But yes I would booking again as an overnight stay.

Very poor. After making clear that I had a conference to attend, I ordered a sandwich. Getting on for 30 minutes later the sandwich hadn't materialized. I asked for a review and was told they don't do refunds. Very poor. Steer clear.
