Nice and clean. Lovely canal view. 30 mins walk from the city centre, gorgeous walk along the canal directly to town. Friendly staff. Will definitely come back here again. Very enjoyable visit.

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in been twice so far, great food, drink, atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, also dog friendly. My mum and me stayed for Christmas 3 years ago couldn't go out cause of storms but staff made us feel very welcome even came to chats to us when it was quiet. We had a lovely Christmas dinner. Also you can see the bardges, ducks and geese come up to door to be fed. We definitely recommend here.

Car park very small, managed to fit in, just, at half three. Check in staff were helpful, although told us Sunday breakfast was served 6am til 9am, in fact it was from 7am until 11am. The room had artex on walls and roof, possibly a little too much white artex for my liking. We had a room with disabled access for the bathroom, although no door on the bath, no hoist for wheelchair users and a mirror much too high for anyone in a wheelchair to use. Not a problem for us but incredibly annoying for someone else. The cupboard door was absent, three plug points inconveniently placed and shared with the room appliances. Comfy bed, clean sheets, although other than that about as welcoming as a prison. Made it into the bar area for breakfast at 7am. Unlimited breakfast was actually unlimited continental, with an option for a plate of full English. The Campanile on Northampton offers both continental and full English options as a self service, a much nicer way to eat, why can't it be the same in Birmingham? Restaurant staff abrupt, food of OK quality.

Cheap amd cheerful. Ok rooms but showing their age. Could feel springs in bed, shower extractor very noisy at night and lights from car park showing through window at night. Good location to get into city center.

Dear God. I have stayed in Motels better than this. For £99 for 1 night, my husband and I got 1 tiny room with a double bed that was so uncomfortable. The springs were digging into our ribs and hips. The walls are so thin we couldnt sleep because of the noise. There was water leaking from somewhere and the floor on the left side of the bed was cold and wet. The table next to the right side of the bed had some sort of sticky substance smeared all over it. When it came time to shower we only had one towel to share and there was a sign telling us we had to reuse our 1 towel to help the environment but yet they provided paper coffee cups which are bad for the environment instead of reusable ones. Then I expected a cooked breakfast for the amount of money we paid but nope. We had to help ourselves to some cold pale ham slices and slimy fruit salad. When we got back to our room after breakfast we were going to share our 1 towel to shower and pack up our things, but they already came into our room while we were at breakfast at 9 am and took our 1 towel so we couldn't shower. Checkout wasnt until 12 pm. Most horribe hotel in business. I only gave 1 star as there is no negative rating. I think this hotel owner and staff need to take some training in hospitality instead of ripping people off. Even in the ghetto the hotels are better than this.

The hotel has exerting you need for a weekend stay. The beds are comfortable, however the plugs in the rooms are located in very annoying positions. The food at the bar is OK, but nothing to write home about. I would stay again.

Friendly staff, great room, real value for money.

A good location as only a short walkable distance to the centre of Birmingham. The staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. Rooms basic but clean and would benefit from repainting. Was not happy with paper disposable cups on the hospitality tray. The bathroom also needed redecorating but the shower was adequate with plenty of hot water. Did not try the breakfast.

Generally a reasonable place to stay. Ok some things are not perhaps as good as they could be and the rooms are a little dated. However the place served its purpose. The staff are very friendly, the meal I had in the restaurant was great. The room service was good, cleaned and tidied daily. The bed was comfortable. As said previously, the hotel served its purpose. I got a good rate comoared to other hotels in the area some of which are way overpriced.

A bit dated. Good location for the city centre. Can get noisy. Great bufet breakfast.

We went in three to this hotel after an exhibition day, he didn’t event stay a night, we have been refunded and we left this horrible place. Location was good as just in front of the train station but … that’s it. The bedroom was super super small and glaucous. Bedsheet were very dirty, in the room it was an horrible cigar smell and the room was dirty +++. I passed my hand On the desk it was full of dust, toilets disgusting. Should I add dish in the corridor? i They proposed a refund as the hotel was full and no one could clean. So we arrived around 11pm and we left straight away. For £70 a night you can get much better rooms in Birmingham!

Out of date. Definitely in needs of some refurb. In my opinion is a bit overpriced for overnight stay. It is worse than HI Express, somewhere on Ibis Budget level but with higher price.

This is a very tired and dated hotel. Whilst the hotel foyer and bar seemed to have enjoyed some tarting up the rooms are in a state. It is clean, yes but the decor is poor, wood chip wallpaper, tatty furniture, yellowed light shades. Bathroom clean but bath is small and no towel rail? It is cheap and parking is free and it's close to the centre but don't expect comfort. Bed linen was clean but the matress was awful and dipped in the centre. I wouldn't use it again.

Perfect for a short stay, car park is free if staying but you need to register your car with the hotel before leaving it. Clean and comfortable rooms, however are a bit basic. Staff are very friendly. If paying cash for your room, £50 deposit is required. Card does not require this. Wi-Fi is free if you book online. Checking in and out is painless.

Friendly staff restaurant gave a good selection at reasonable prices rooms comfortable. A nice canal side area. Staff told me that a refurbishment is planned.

The hotel was ok not the greatest but not bad, the hotel is starting to look a little dated now too, breakfast was nice and was freshly cooked with plenty continental choices. Location wise is a bit of a walk out of center. I do think free Wi-Fi would be good but they only give for free if you book direct with them otherwise there is a charge. For a couple of nights away not too bad.

The worst hotel I have stayed in. Filthy smelly bathroom with dirty floor and walls and someones hair with useless shower. Broken radiator. Expensive Wi-Fi. Very thin walls I could hear every noise from next room. Food also was not great. You are lucky if your room is facing canal so you can at least look at the canal through your dirty window. And it's not even very budget hotel. I am not mentioning about being woken up at midnight from noise from next room I will not explain details of the nature of the noise but it was disgusting. Staff was helpful though moved me to the top floor room where was significantly better. Will never use it again anyway!

When one travels, you never really know if you are going to like the hotel you booked but the minimum you expect is a comfortable bed to get a good night sleep, and good shower well then don't stay here! The mattress springs were so worn out they were stabbing my back. You need to leave the bathroom door open together with the window when you shower or else the alarm will go off… and it did! at 2am. Two choices of how you want to shower: burning your skin to get a lot of pressure or very mild with a bit of pressure. Food OK, portions small, prices high for what you get. They could do with a bit more cleanliness, everywhere was sticky. I also thought it was far from the city centre. Views to parking. You need to call reception for heating or you'll freeze. Reception stated the hotel was going under refurbishment next year, but I have heard that before. Overall not a great experience. I left feeling tired as I wasn't able to sleep.

Not a very good hotel Loads of young adults stay and go out clubbing and roll back at like 5am in the morning, very noisy, other guests playing loud music before they head out in the evening More or less a hotel for people to come back after a night out to lodge/sober up, If your paying by cash they will ask for a £50 deposit which it does NOT state this anywhere on their website at all Hotel rooms are run down too 1 advantage — powerful showers Rooms are tacky stains on the wall where the heater has burnt it Child friendly? I would say no, especially with all the drinkers coming back early hours of the morning No pubs or restaurants within walking distance, hotel is situated in an industrial estate.

Reasonably priced hotel located along a canal that allows you to walk to the center in a pleasant way. On the other hand you will have to pay the Wi-Fi if the reservation was not made directly to them! Funny way to thank the sites that bring customers. The hotel is clean and well kept staff welcoming… like everywhere in England.

In summer you die of heat, no air conditioning.

The hotel and breakfast were acceptable. The vicinity was scary, especially at night. The worst thing is the noise that was in our stay. There were people bothering until 4:00 in the morning running down the halls and screaming, the hotel did nothing to avoid it, only the next day, when we complained they said they were sorry they couldn't do anything else. Maybe we had bad luck, I go out for that quality acceptable price.

It's OK, basic. Only one plug in the room, which isnt great if there is more than one person or you need to charge more than 1 device.

Seriously don't bother. We went on a Friday night at about 20:30 to find that most of the options on the menu weren't available. They had a side option of "Wedge of Lettuce in a Blue Cheese Sauce" and I asked if it would be possible to have just some Blue Cheese Sauce to go with the steak I had ordered. I was told by the barmaid that she couldn't ask the chef to do that. When our food did arrive, it was late and the chips were so cold we sent them back. One of my party ordered a glass of red wine and was brought a glass which tasted stale. After asking the barmaid she was told that she had used the dregs of a bottle topped of with fresh.

Was as origami Convention. They are only serving food to the ones who pre paid for the set lunch. Last year they were serving food from the bar/restaurant apparently they were short staffed so were unable to serve food to other people.

The last hotel to fill up in the area? The public areas are fine, security is good and the staff are competent but the rooms themselves are very tired and the in room refreshments and toiletries are the most basic. Ok if you just need somewhere to sleep before moving on, but any amount of time spent in the room awake would be depressing.

Clean and friendly. Big, comfortable bed. New flat-screen TV. Big bathroom but a small bath. Bar and restaurant are well kept and modern. Sky Sports and BT Sport in bar area. Food was standard fare.

Good location and nice clean room with bath (albeit designed for dwarves). Great TV and comfy bed. However, on entering the room on a cold winter's night. The heating was switched off and it took a few hours for the room temperature to get to normal, and we certainly needed the extra blanket which was provided. There was only 1 pillow each but more were provided when we asked. Not enough coffee provided in room. Fantastic breakfast although their new improved sausages were awful. Main gripe was that the waiting staff did not have a good command of the English language and we witnessed other guests becoming frustrated at breakfast because they could not make their requests understood. Restaurant very over-priced — we went into town for dinner. However, we would return as this hotel represents good value for money.

It is a good hotel, a few minutes taxi from Birmingham new Street and the city centre. Rooms are adequate and the food served in the restaurant is OK.

Staff were great but room was so noisy and we were in the quiet area. Food was not good at all.

Beds are ok to sleep in. Some staff are friendly and helpful but thats were it stops. I had to get my room key re-programmed twice a day (and been on the top floor didnt make this any fun) and the maids who "clean" the room are useless and have no idea what sugar is let alone on how to clean a room. Only stay here if you have to. Otherwise you would be better off sleeping in your car/van for 1 night. Also dont believe them when they say free Wi-Fi. Its only for 20 mins. Cant do naff all with 20 mins Wi-Fi, I defo couldnt get any work done. My advice would be to stop at the Premier Inn 30 seconds away.

Absolutely not recommended for non-car owner. Staff very rude and unhelpful.

Okay hotel, but not as good as other Campanile's that I've stayed in. Was there Friday night to Sunday morning. Was loud at times, but may be expected at the weekend. Breakfast (only had it on the Sunday) is overpriced and the restaurant was full of dirty tables.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Also, free Wi-Fi is false advertising.

Got what I wanted. Bed was not that good. Breakfast simple but Ok.

For the price I got what I expected. Great hotel location for the drum arts center.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. Have stayed three times. Separated by a few years in between each stay. And the quality, the food, the rooms, the beds are everything that a hotel of this rating should have and be. The Manager is magnificent and the staff are superb, the breakfast is wide ranging and very well prepared. Help is on hand whenever you want it and to be able to practice French when we come over from Goa is a bonus. This is a very hard to beat hotel for value for money and also as a venue for conferences, its minutes away from all amenities in Brum and quiet at night. Thanks all.
