Stayed here for one night and it was awful! Got given a key in check in, went to the room and there were other guests in the room. Went back to reception given another key but no apology!
It was dark on arrival so went straight to bed but in the cold light of day …
Room was dirty, broken glass on the bathroom floor, only one light working making the bathroom very dark.
There was dirt and fluff on the carpet, stains on the duvet, curtains were ripped, curtain tie backs were ripped.
Complained on check out but the receptionist was less than helpful!
I’ve e-mailed the hotel twice but so far had no reply.
don’t stay here!

I’ve never stayed in a bed with such stained sheet, absolutely VILE. Didn’t even think to check. Emailed the hotel but shock, haven’t heard a reply, but judging from other people’s comments this isn’t the first complaint of this type.

From the photos this place looked great. The ONLY positive thing I can comment on is the member of staff working that night, he was very understanding.
There were lights missing from the ceiling, stained bed sheets, hairs in the bed, dripping shower head, mould around the bath, the tops of the curtains were covered in dust, the nets in the windows were stained and ripped. The chairs were torn. I was offered two different rooms and they were both as bad as eachother. I didn't stay that night and had to book somewhere else last minute. I went through booking. Com the very next day… its been almost a month now, 2 refunds issued but haven't received anything.

Amazing and clean room. A very comfortable bed. One thing though very minor from the road side you can't see the name.

Lovely place friendly staff. Rooms are nice and spacious with everything you need.

Slow and upleasant the woman receptionist, torn and stained linen, dirty carpet and warm room.

Its not an hotel and they should not be allowed to advertise as such. On arrival miserable desk staff. Getting to the room we where greeted by the smell of what captain herbal life might smoke. The room well where do you start. Have you ever stayed in a room where the muck and dust glows in the dark. Well we have now. Try and complain get your money back and find a pig sty with more class. Good look with that. The staff are very well trained in selective hearing and a distinct lack of understanding the English language. Never ever again. Avoid like the plague unless you want a dose. Oh it is a comfy bed but that's it.

Decent, for price But didn't get Wi-Fi in the room the TV wasn't working properly. Complained at reception but said no-one else had complained. Not very helpful.

Never been to such a dirty digusting hotel, there was stains everywhere all up the walls on the cushions, mould in the windows, the radiator was off the wall leaning with screws hanging out, complained to staff they looked like they were use to it and didnt care, room smelt of damp, the corridors and stairs were filthy, really run down, asked for room to be recleaned said they would do it while we were put came back still the same, avoid at all cost.

Despite the other negative reviews, my stay here was unaffected by any of those issues. I stayed in the Queen room, and found the room to be clean & well-maintained, all expected equipment present & working (eg. TV, fan, sockets). They even found me a travel cot for my son at check-in, as the booking agency failed to inform them. Excellent value for money for a triple room.

Not plush but very comfortable easy access free parking and the menu is second to none. Well worth a look and not to pricey.

Honestly few years ago accommodation and customer service was excellent. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Last couple of times I stayed here was the worst experience to date! One time the shower wasnt working properly it kept stopping and starting. After calling the reception over, 4 hours later the manager finally came and looked at it. He just looked at it and did nothing. Another time We checked in at 9pm from long travels. 1st room had window broken. 2nd room I couldnt have shower as the tap wouldn't turn on. 3rd room bed was dirty it had hairs on the pillows! 4th bedroom everytime I moved the bed squeaked so loud it woke me up couple of times! But decided I was too tired to move again for 5th time. Receptionist said he will be talking to manager about it as I was so annoyed! In the morning when I asked for manager receptionist he isnt working today. Asked for his email address and the receptionist didnt knoe it? After an hour I asked different receptionist and surprise he was the manager. Nothing was done thou all they said was they will call back but never did. Awful customer services!

One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had! The receptionist/concierge is obviously always the first person you meet at a hotel and, after waiting at an empty reception desk for 10 minutes, she pretty much set the tone for my stay. She was rude, completely uninterested and dismissive. She couldn't even be bothered to listen to my questions properly and when she did it turns out that they DO NOT offer room service and they DO NOT serve dinner until 10pm despite the fact it says so on their website… brilliant when you're a young woman alone in a city relying on being able to eat in the hotel which you booked for that reason. The receptionist in the morning was no better — he barely looked up from his computer screen the whole time I was stood there. The room was small, hot and quite dirty. The walls are paper thin! The carpet and curtains were stained, the bed sheets looked dirty and the bathroom looked unfinished. Basicslly they've spent all the money on reception and nothing on the rooms — then again even the sofas in reception were all stained! Grim hotel. Rude staff. Not worth the money, even if it is a "budget" hotel. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere people.

Oh my god it was nothing like the photo the staff had no interest at all had to complain about room was put in another room next to a room who partied till 3 in the morning shouting playing music so had no sleep, found a packet of cigarettes under the bed, took pictures to pass on to Expedia still waiting for response nobody seems bothered but exchanged numbers with another guest who also complained about her second room swap.

Nice rooms and staff friendly but security wouldn't let me access my room even once I had given my name, proof of identity, key card and booking proof and reference.

It's a room really. Staff are nice. But very basic rooms. And the decor needs work quite run down. But to be fair they did have some work going on so at least they are trying. But I have to say the pics online are definitely deceptive. I wouldn't go back but it was just okay.

We have mixed review of this place. It's 3 star so you get what you pay for. Rooms are clean and big enough for a family with the one child. However our sheets had tears and sofas were damaged, cushions had stains on them. Bed was uncomfortable, and on the weekend it can get noisy in the corridor with groups going out for the night and coming back. Parking is available which is great. But as there was two wedding bookings on the weekend we struggled to get space and had to park on the road nearby, which wasn't great with a sleepy child in the snow blizzard that hit that weekend. The hotel is 10mins from everywhere so we were able to drive everywhere. Its at a good price and as mentioned you pay for what you get. A good sized room clean in a great location, slightly away from the city centre. Which was what we wanted.

Where do I start? Pleasantly surprised by reception area except for stains on seating. Receptionist pleasant. Car parking good. As soon as you walk to the rooms its all very dated, poor condition so quite tacky looking. Website photo of 'Queen' room looks very good however in reality there were some issues; door to room very dated, room size same as a double, dated furniture, net curtain with yellow stain, window sill stained, marks on the walls, a heater in the corner, some lights not working, shower room of a very good standard however hair/shower wash bottle empty and felt very embarassed that they provided 38 durex packs! Loud noise from the car park; trolleys/metal cages being pushed back and forth from the car park all night, people talking loud outside the room in the corridor, loud banging from around the hotel so no consideration towards guests, strange/random people walking around the hotel with some lying across the seating area in reception, groups of men sat at the bar area and mainly asian/foriegn staff. Says alot for the hotel's reputation… sleazy and tacky! I will never ever recommend this hotel to anyone… Management seriously need to be reading these reviews and taking some action!

I stayed here for a couple of nights during the week. On the surface it looks modern and trendy but it is let down by not being well maintained, dirty and smelly. The first room I was given smelt very strongly of cigarettes, had dirty marks on the carpet and walls and the windows were mouldy. I was moved to a new room and the staff were reasonably accommodating but not at all concerned so I guess this is a common issue. I spoke to another guest who was in a different room but had the same issues. The English breakfast was almost inedible to me with over cooked eggs and the cheapest, driest and tasteless sausages I have ever tasted. Luckily the continental breakfast was fine. All around the hotel you can see that there has been some investment but it desperately needs more day to day maintenance.

Good value for money better than travel lodge tbh and close to city centre.

The bad bits first: the "Queen" room is just a standard-sized double room, the bathroom is small and not very well maintained; the shower attachment didn't work, the sink doesn't drain quickly, the cistern takes a while to refill after you flush it and one of the lightbulbs was out, which was fixed a mere eight hours after I reported it. Also, the Wi-Fi is dire, next to useless. The upside is that there is a large TV, a kettle (but bring your own tea and coffee, the stuff supplied is awful), a hairdryer, a good-sized fridge, the rooms are clean, warm and dry (the heating is easy to control but there is not aircon), the hot water is really hot, and the bed is comfortable. The rooms are a little on the dark side, the windows open, there is limited room service and a 24 hour bar, and you can get breakfast if you want it. The hotel can be quite noisy, and one of the least pleasant aspects is that the corridors and lift stink of cleaning products from over-zealous housekeeping, but thankfully the smell didn't find its way into the room. There is easy access to the city centre (the bus stops right outside the hotel), its a bit of a trek down the Hagley Road to the shops, there is a large Morrisons supermarket down towards the Five Ways end of the road. Overall, the Collection offers reasonable value for money at the current Birmingham rates (which are themselves ludicrously overpriced for Birmingham).

Not even worthy of 1 star! Poor hotel on all fronts had to change rooms 3 times from broken heater to no lights and shower not even connected to anything! Staff rude and unprofessional. Asked for extra pillows and was barked at by the receptionist to go back to our room because they don't even know if they have any! Gives the facade that it's a nice hotel but far from it!

Great experience, had make up on the walls for some reason but the room was clean and the staff were friendly.

1st night of a 3 night stay for work. Hotel reception area is very nice, but it ends there! More stairs and corridors than a 12th century castle. Dated rooms, sad decor and bathroom. Not impressed and I have 2 more pre-paid nights here!

Great staff very good price. Big rooms too. Special thank you to vinny the guy who works the night shift. He had only just atarrted but was really helpfull.

Booked two rooms at over £300 on the 9th Dec. Meant to be the best rooms, the first kingsize bed had a massive dip on the right handside which was visable. Room 1009 had no heating in the bathroom or main room, also the TV was just a blue screen. Went upstairs to report this issue, mainly concerned about the temperature in the room as it was only 2 degrees outside and not much more in the room. We was told the issues would be sorted on our return. Had one pint a gin and tonic… for £10, the larger smelt horrible so was not drunk. On our return at 9pm in a taxi we tried to pull up outside and there was a large drunken crowd from a party. I like to party so would not be an issue but one guy was stood in front of the taxi swearing that it should not be in the car park. We went to our room to the find the smallest of an oil filled radiator not plugged in so our room was now even colder. Tv still the same no heating and noise from the drunken guests we decided enough was enough and checked out. The reception staff was not bothered. Sent an email to the hotel asking for their response but 48 hrs later still no reply. I would have rather slept in my car! Over £300 for use of the bathroom. I could go on about the lack of cleaning, lampshades etc but hopefully you have read enough and avoid this hotel. I normally do not write reviews but felt I had to so others would not have the same experience.

One towel was stained with make up chairs needed replacing as were ripped the bed side lights didn’t work nor did the light above the mirror in the bedroom the bathroom rad couldn’t be turned down so non stop heat however the TV in the room and bathroom worked so did the shower, Bed was comfy. Wardrobes needed replacing as didn’t shut properly. Room fair. Lady on reception was pleasant new and didn’t know what the drinks were in the bar. Reception sitting needs to be recovered as too many Staines. Okay hotel with some tidying to be done, lack of fire information in the room explaining where the exits were or rather were not. Seriously if you’re looking for a cheap stay great if you can make do.

Please invest some money in lightbulbs. I've been in three different rooms over a month and 3/4 of lights were blown. Rather then that nice staying in a peaceful hotel.

Reception staff very slow! Room was just ok, shower/bath not very clean at all! Friend went to use toilets in banqueting suite and got a big bleach stain down his brand new trousers (bought for the specific hotel event) complained to hotel manager and was fobbed off, tried to say my friend arrived with his trousers like that! Overall run down and dirty hotel. Very expensive for what it was, much nicer hotels at half the price! Breakfast the next morning was awful! 3 breakfasts that were all meant to be the same and each one had something missing off them. Will NOTbe returning! Worst hotel I have ever stayed in!

Peeling wallpaper, dirty bits in corners, tired furniture and 4 light bulbs out, hint of smelly drain in bathroom, all these bad points in the room we stayed in. The first room we refused because smelt of cigarette smoking. Its good plus points? Easy to get to, well located and a carpark.

Not as expensive as in the city, but breakfast (£10) is not included, you pay in advance, window handles don't open as they should, the magnetic card had to be reactivated every single day. Prices of the night vary per night. Nearby is a botanical garden and a bus stop is in front of the hotel.

Stayed here for one night, it was very comfortable. If people want luxury they should pay for it and stay in a 5* hotel. Location superb, Parking a bonus, Bus stop directly outside hotel which takes you into Town, TGI Friday just down the road, Moon Pub, down the road, Lovely Cafe for breakfast if needed down the road £3.50 Full English. What more can I ask for. Thank you Collection until next time xxxxx.

I booked the place because of its closeness from the city center and based on the pictures online. DON'T GET FOOLED BY THE PICS! It is the same color of the furniture but the actual room is different. The bathroom door and faucet clearly need maintenance as do the lights since only some of them actually work. Although the space in the room is good (I stayed in a queen room) but the pillows were flat and the blanket had yellow stains on it. The riception were friendly and helpful but service was slow. Personally, I wouldn't recommen it.

Room 1212 was a pleasant surprise. I could sleep with windows open! Quality renovation done some years ago, to some of the rooms. Hotel reception area need new sofas, and floors cleaned. Helpful staff, free parking. Old building with confusing walk and steps up and down towards the room. Lift.

Very good for the price. Very clean and staff very friendly. The only thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars are a few minor maintenance issues such as missing lightbulb and a broken window latch… Would definitely stay again if we had business in Birmingham.

I was at the hotel for a wedding reception. This is a good venue for large scale receptions, basic and some glam factor. The venue location is good but insufficient parking to cater for a wedding with 500, I hazard to guess the mayhem if it had 1000 guests. It's ok but nothing special.

Clean no frills of you like only Indian food on the menu. Great a TGI Fridays just down the road.

Linked up with the mandem, complete madness. Shut it down fully had it on box. Also had to make sure no pagans about otherwise it woulda got a bit sticky but hold tight the security made sure it was bless. 8/7 would recommend to land the motive here next time no doubt.

Stayed at the hotel Tues 4/4/17 not the best, decor dated, dirty / tatty carpets, lifts dirty, room was dark many broken items: door panel, lose handles, window once opened wasn't able to close it, not a place I'd recommend.

Rooms are not clean, I had to change three rooms. I dont recommend it to anyone.

Not impressed with the room for the money the bath was leaking and the carpet was getting soaked through just outside the bathroom door also the window was leaking with mould all around it Booked the king room so wasn't a standard room at a standard price but have stayed in better places for less money and better facilities Certainly won't look to stay there again in the future When reported the problems to reception they wasn't much help at all.

I have stayed here on more than one occasion but I was really unhappy with my recent stay. The room we had was lovely, couldnt fault the room whatsoever. But unfortunatly did not get a wink of sleep due to the very noisy people upstairs. Due to old flooring you could hear every move that was made, we rang down to reception and was told that they were going to ask the guests to keep it down (bearing in mind it started at around 9pm and it was now getting on for 5am) it all quietend down after about an hour or so. We made a complaint when we left in the morning to the receptionist and as a result was told to leave our mobile number for the manager to ring us back later on that day… and what a surprise we still havent heard anything back from them.

These rooms get hammered constantly, booked a single, surprised I had a double (nice) only half the lighting worked (shade missing and exposed bulb fitting taped up), I'm being picky! The bed was lovely, the shower was hot, the TV remote (didn't work, even after battery change) went for breakfast (booked for, included) had to show booking to get it but the staff were great about it (although had to show each morning to get it) all in all, would come back, many thanks :-)

Nice room, shame out the service. Checked in late due to rooms not ready after going straight out for the day on return we found they ran out of drinks, had only one thing on the menu for dinner and not enough towels for 2 people. Full english breakfast certainly not worth the additional cost. Had to wait for a table, ask for glasses, ask for juice, ask for bread to make toast. Only ever one person serving both on the Saturday night and Sunday breakfast, as they were fully booked this was obviously not enough. Considering the cost of the room, very disappointing!
