Always one of my favourite hotels, not very often I get to stay here, but when I do it always feels special and the experience is 5* Not so keen when you do dinners here as sometimes it can be a little warm, but in winter it's the perfect temperature for events and conferences.

Great location for the races. Comfy beds and clean room. Breakfast is a must if you stay here.

Comfortable room (junior suite) a little tired but clean and spacious. Service throughout hotel staff very good. A la carte food very professionally presented and tasty, service not as quick as I'd prefer but not bad.

Room was pleasant and functional with good complimentary toiletries. Hotel food — evening meal and breakfast — was good and very tasty. Drinks were very pricy — two bottles of local beer were £6.50 each. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. Lunchtime buffet was plentiful with a variety of wraps, salad and goujons as well as pleasant puddings. Recommended place to stay as also close to airport and A1 is less than 2 minutes from the hotel.

I recently attended a house auction here in one of there conference room. Facilities were very impressive clean and tidy. Also used the restaurant had a club sandwich this was really nice and I received loads of chicken and bacon in the sandwich.

Not overall impressed. We booked this as we were visiting the race course over the road. We paid £93 for the night no breakfast inc. The room was a tad dusty in places but bed and bathroom clean. I went to fill the kettle to make a brew and it was filthy. I called reception and another was brought up to my room. This was worse than the first I took rhis to reception and they offered me another I refused. They did how ever get me a coffee from the on site Starbucks. Breakfast was £15.90 pp. The staff and restraint area was nice the food how ever I have had nicer in a premier in for cheaper. Doubt I'd stay here again.

"Genuinely perfect hotel" is the title of this review. I visited here for a work event and I have to say, it's perfect. I actually don't have anything bad to say about it. There is a bar — Great Bed — perfect for me (soft but not too soft) Clean — bedsheets, carpet and bathroom Entertainment — the TVS in the bedroom are massive… 49" Breakfast — All you can eat buffet included in the £5 extra… Worth it!

Been here in the past and have great experiences. The staff are very helpful and go out their way to ensure you have an enjoyable stay but this time round can’t say the rooms were up to much of a standard. The hotel could do with some updating as it’s a little drab now and you expect working air conditioning overnight. Not the best stay this time round hence the ⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating.

Been here and stayed in the past but didn't find the rooms up to scratch. The air-conditioning didn't wrong and neither did the extraction fan in to bathroom. All in all depending where they put you rooms can be saved and shabby looking. Was going to eat in the hotel restaurant but not much option on menu so went out for food. All in all ok but think I'll stay somewhere else for a change… Not rushing back.

Really dated hotel. It looks like it would be luxury back in the 90s, but to be fair it's extremely well kept. Staff are amazing and so helpful, plus really friendly. Sky sports in the room and 60" TV are nice touches.

Excellent hotel for reasonable price. Hotel of choice in area. Oh, and good leisure suite! That's us stayed again and I can only endorse what I said already but felt I must mention the staff who are outstanding and so helpful. They really raise the experience to a whole new level!

Decent hotel at good value. Restaurant is good. Issue is thin windows and walls so noise travels from adjoining rooms and the car park — not an issue for deep sleepers but I have been woken. Could do with more plug sockets in the room.

Had a lovely night at this hotel attending the New Year dinner. The service was excellent along with the entertainment and the screens counting down to midnight across the world. The meal was very good, however the main course was good but not exciting. The overnight stay was excellent very comfortable. However breakfast was very busy, full hotel and the standard reflected this, ie coffee and tea not very hot. Overall Avery good experience.

This is a good hotel with great service. The fabric is a little dated but the facilities are good. Really good breakfast!

We were having our works Christmas party at the Marriott and had a great time. The entertainment was excellent with a live band playing which kept the dance floor filled. The three course meal was also good. For all there was over 300 people there it did not seem mass produced and the cheese cake was incredible. Drinks were not cheap but it wasn't beyond normal hotel prices. Overall a great night there.

Newcastle Marriott hotel is a beautiful place with attention to detail around the Christmas season. Every decoration layed out beautifully and the staff added to this with a warm and friendly manner. The food is excellent, as well as the drinks options.

Toilets were manky, really expensive bar. £9 for a double Bells is a liberty.

Good location not far from A1. Made a welcome stop on the long journey from south to north. Rooms clean, breakfast buffet was good but very busy when hotel is full. New Smart TVs looked like a recent addition.

Had our first of four nights last night. Amazing staff and hotel. Rooms clean and very comfy. Food is fabulous. Looking forward to going back for dinner tonight!

The hotel decor looks a bit dated and rooms were quite small by Marriott standard. Breakfast was really good and the chef at the egg station really knows how to make great omelettes. Easy to get to the city center as the bus stop just outside takes you straight to the heart of the city. Also very close to the airport. Didn't manage to use the gym/pool but they also have a spa which is quite nice.

My wife and I would like to recommend this hotel after a recent stay there for 8 weeks whilst moving house. We were particularly impressed with all of the hard working and friendly front of house staff. We would like to especially thank Daniel Elliot and manager Helen Stevens for making our stay such an enjoyable one.

Nice facilities and brilliant staff. Couldn't fault them. Though, even for a high class hotel, the prices were almost laughable. Maybe a nice place for special events but not somewhere I would consider for anything less.

Great customer service. Relaxing atmosphere. My 2nd visit for a nights stay. The rooms are relaxing which provides a good night's sleep feeling refreshed in The morning just in time for the buffet breakfast. Great quality, quantity & taste. Just delish. From simple toast to a full English breakfast. With fresh fruit juice & tea/coffee refills to your hearts desire. Beautiful pastries, fresh fruit, hot food, cereals, porridge, toast and more. This is one breakfast that you will be pleasantly satisfied with. A great start to the day. Definitely recommend staying here and coming back again too.

Most friendly staff I've ever met in a hotel (especially at reception, the bar and breakfast). Beds are very soft and comfortable but rooms are a little dated. Pool and Jacuzzi were great but smaller than in photos. Women's changing room was flooded — clothes got wet before I got changed! Breakfast was plentiful and had lots of choice. I had a great stay.

Myself and my partner were attending a black tie charity event at the Marriott hotel. The event was extremely well run and the function room we had was fantastic. Well laid out with a large dance floor which would be perfect for weddings. We called ahead to ask if we could leave our car overnight despite not staying over and this was welcomed at no cost. We were given a 3 course meal through the night which was enjoyable if not a little small. A starter of Posh ham and pease pudding was a strange choice given there was no other option. The main of salmon potatoes and veg was very good but the chicken option my partner had was a little dry. The Bailey's cheesecake to finish was incredible. Drinks were surprisingly well priced for a hotel with Stella or Becks at £3.50 a pint. The wine was a little more expensive but within reason. All in all it was a great night with only some of the food letting the rating down.

Met boss for coffee and business. It's an excellent place to meet your boss — refined atmosphere, business-like yet comfortable, she could only compliment because there's no place at the Marriott for unhappiness.

Great parking, friendly staff, rooms awesome and has a great gym. Lack of free Wi-Fi in rooms let's it down.

Went with the kids for Willy Wonka afternoon tea party, all the staff were great and had a fantastic afternoon.

Nice rooms pleasant and helpful staff great facilitys lovely pool kid friendly me and my son really enjoyed it.

I'm a member at the marriot gym and spa, the gym is nice and big with plenty of equipment, nice pool, sauna and steam room and plenty of classes to attend everyday, free parking and lockers are a bonus.

Nice hotel, with quite village enviroment, I went here when the snows falls down, they have small area in front of the lobby for smoking area, the breakfast is good, but not much variant, everyday is a same food. But over all 4 stars fot this hotel. Cheers from Indonesia.

Nice enough room with standard fittings. No plug sockets next to bed and low power from the existing socket means having to leave phone to charge all night. Nice enough pool and spa area. Restaurant had a poor and very over priced menu and my food was dry. My college's meal (lamb) was raw and they tried to explain that was how they cook it but we both said we have never come across raw lamb before. All in all nothing to blow me away and make me want to stay again.

(Stayed 02/10/2015) We stay frequently on special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries etc. And have always loved the effort and attention to detail, during our stay last night however we where very disappointed. Our bed was untidy in the room, the coffee cups where sticky with coffee stains, the staff in the restaurant (waitresses) sat around a table together giggling and gossiping, my girlfriend wasn't asked how she wanted her steak cooked, the waitress then proceeded to give me the steak knife and not my girlfriend (the same waitress), the food was nice but no different to any chain restaurants, we where never asked whether we enjoyed our meal, we weren't asked how our stay was when we clocked out (probably a good idea that he didn't). It's the small things that make a night special, and the Marriot Gosforth missed the mark this time. A real shame but we will be looking to go elsewhere from now on.

I organised a reunion event for 51 people for the weekend of 18th-20th September 2015 on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Prior to the event, I twice met with Helen whose assistance and suggestions were invaluable. The weekend was perfect with nothing too much trouble. The food was excellent and the staff for our dinners, led by Rachael, were smart, professional and very pleasant. It is not often you can satisfy a group of 51 people for 2 days but you managed it and then some. I would recommed this hotel in a heartbeat!

It's a bitter experience in visit in Newcastle I booked the hotel and paid for it. When I came to the Marriot hotel waited no one at the reception then Mr Derek came out I asked for our reservations and he said we have no reservations and we came to wrong hotel after driving 300miles from london that's nots sounds good! Mr Big headed Derek Was very rude and angry. His first impression was completely wrong you don't expect anything like this from a 4* hotel, I mentioned him I paid and I spoke to few people's I named them he said they don't work here, you have to try other Marriot branch. I said How could that possible. He is telling me all this without checking my details or reservation, I asked what can we do, he sold I can't really help you, then I said can you not check this with out reservations or name he reply in rude way it's printing I can't check until it's tonight I asked how long the printing gone a take he refused to talk to me, then I asked him again then he said I don't know, I said what shell we do, I got very upset now he start staring at me, & start behaving loudly and roudly with me. I asked for his name he refused to give his name. Then he start looking on computer and print a paper and say sing here, I said how did you find it, I just got it, the printer still printing. Why he has done this to us! The. I asked him for manager he said he is manager, I asked his name he refused again so I took his picture.

I had a two day stay here with my daughter and 2 grandchildren which was enjoyable from beginning to end. Throughout our stay all of the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The children have multiple allergies and everything was done to cater for their difficult needs. It was so nice for us all to sit and have a relaxed meal in a restaurant and I might add that on Friday evening, though we understandably had a long wait, I can honestly say that everything was cooked to perfection and possibly the most delicious lamb (chef's special that night) I have ever tasted! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

I've used this hotel several times for conferences. Its not the prettiest from outside but once inside its a really well equipped conferencing venue. Staff are really helpful and friendly and its accessibility to the A1 makes it a great venue for events in the North East. Would definitely recommend.

Awful food, soft matresses, tiny pool and 67kpbs internet at £6 per hour. Save your money and go across the roundabout to the Travelodge.

Used as event space, not bad room, easy get in.

Location was remote, but good access to A1. Grounds were very nice. Staff seemed a bit overworked, but helpful. Good parking. Long walk to our room which was small but nicely appointed. Bed was great. Ice machine down the hall was a nice surprise. We did not use the pool or gym, but they looked great. Would stay here again.
