Excellent quirky hotel with great drinks, food and staff.

Just had the best two days in your hotel. Staff, rooms, service and breakfast were absolutely brilliant. Thank you for making our wedding party’s stay so incredible.

Very unique rooms that are exceptionally spacious and comfortable. The public areas are also very interesting and comfortable. Food is good but on a number of occasions orders have been mixed up. Staff pleasant, friendly & professional. There is parking nearby and in their own car park is very small. To be charged to stay in their own car park is a little unexpected and petty. Situated in a quiet area but excellent for access and views of the River Tyne quaysides of Newcastle & Gateshead.

Had Sunday lunch it was a present from our daughter and son in law. The food was fabulous and we were encouraged to enjoy the experience as first visit. We were told it was a meal not a race. I liked that comment. Made to feel welcome.

Beautiful environment for cosy conference, close to the centre of Newcastle (stiff walk, short ride). Limited parking at the hotel (they say they can get everyone in) but there's also easy parking (5hrs max) within 50m on Horatio Road. Excellent light and soundproof (we were recording a "round table discussion" for internal broadcast), great staff who understood our party and kept the refreshments flowing without getting confused with other guests. At the end they even came to say we were due a refund!

Gorgeous hotel, stayed in the tattinger room which was lovely, only let down was breakfast arrived for breakfast at 9.30 waited till 10.27 when the breakfast arrived 1 rasher of burnt bacon 1 rock hard sausage the best thing about it was the cup of tea, when the breakfast staff asked how it was we told them & he said they were understaffed which isn’t an excuse for poor service, would 100% stay again but would eat elsewhere!

Here, despite paying parking while one is far from being in the city center, the setting is very nice, the breakfast extraordinary, with its homemade flapjack… and its Chia pudding, Bircher muesli.
also a pity that there is not a loyalty program!
3-course dinner at a reasonable price of 20, 95GBP, with three or four choices for each dish.
Drinks, including non-alcoholic beverages, are on the other hand overpriced, mini 6GBP for a beer or cider.
The rooms are very nice
And the ren products in the bathroom, extra!
Finally, nice also the Nespresso in the room.
The teams at the Hotel du Vin are really attentive to the customer.
This deserves, with the super nice setting, 5 stars!

Back to these hotels. I had for the first time a room, large and well appointed but that overlooks the street. Pol Roger.
A bit noisy, it might disturb some. But I'm not too sensitive to that.
It is a bit apart, it feels like climbing in its Dungeon. Always so nice!
Note the possibility to park at night in front, in Horacio Street, for free from 18:30 (to check for the timetable).

Best chateaubriand I've had. Top notch service in a very high standard setting.

Nice location close to the Victoria tunnels and the toffee factory. Liked the atmosphere. Helpful staff.

Like the rest of the chain the hotel has a nice upmarket feel, with nicely decorated rooms and good amenities. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay though, and the breakfast staff were on good form.

Rooms are good, breakfast consistently nice, and service good. I wish it was closer to the city centre as you need a taxi to get there but that's a really minor gripe. The bar menu is surprisingly disappointing for snacks but the restaurant menu is decent and service is good.

We had a great night Hotel du Vin in Newcastle we stayed in the room which was called La Roche which was very clean spacious and surprised us with an outside balcony area the roll top bath filled really fast and the walk-in shower was a nice touch. We said on a dinner bed and breakfast deal the restaurant was fantastic the food was really nice the service was great and the breakfast is probably one of the best breakfast with had in a hotel from the juice been in school milk bottles and glass jar yoghurts to the granola bars.

A would be expected from any Hotel du Vin, a high quality boutique hotel with excellent bar and bistro restaurant. Housed in an old shipping company office, a 20 minute walk along the river from the town centre.

Came here for afternoon tea for 4. The afternoon tea was of a much lesser quality then we imagined. The afternoon tea wasn't a traditional one and was a 'twist' which didn't appeal to us at all. The sofas were lovely if not a little relaxed. The tea was nice and was changed when a member of our group didn't like theirs. The food was the biggest downfall. Most of the food we didn't like during the savoury section. One of our party ordered an Americano which never arrived, and we felt awkward asking again. And we waited an hour between the savoury and the sweets which was far too long. Overall not impressed, particularly seeing as it wasn't cheap. Disappointed.

We attended Hotel du Vin for afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon. The food was absolutely gorgeous and had a wide variety of things to try. Although this was my first ever afternoon tea, I was told by those I was with that this was one of the best they'd ever had. It was very different to the traditional afternoon tea as each savory and sweet item were very different rather than just your standard finger sandwiches. To be aware that the afternoon tea is held in a sofa area with few proper seats and tables which may be unsuitable for some people but I'm sure if you rang ahead they would arrange something as the staff were great. They were attentive but not overbearing and as it was quiet it was easy to get someone when needed. Would definitely recommend!

We stayed in a studio suite which had an amazing bath and shower within the suite. The rooms were spacious and good for a one night stay in Newcastle. The bistro served good food, particularly good if you are a wine lover with a huge wine selection on offer. The hotel had some really nice social spaces and bars.

Excellent room, staff and bar. Didnt try breakfast this time due to a moderate hangover, but I will next time. In a very good location easy to get to bars in ouseburn, the quayside and city centre. Highly recommend.

Beautiful food, beautiful decor and the staff were really really lovely. The wine was heavily priced hence the lack of a star. For a bottle of house white it was around £25

Great room. Comfy, though you need to take extra travel sockets. Not quite enough mains plugs. Very good breakfast.

I went for a meal with my wife and 4 month old baby. It was easy to get to and around with the pram. The staff were considerate when seating us and all very polite and welcoming. The food was not quite to my taste although my wife enjoyed hers. Beautiful building and decor and a lovely place to eat.

Visited for a champagne afternoon tea. Food was displayed beautifully and tasted nice. We left some feedback which was tsken positively. Staff member Chris was excellent.

Amazing service and food quality, as per usual. The choice for brunch was phenomenal. A great treat, highly recommend.

First visit to Hotel Du Vin. We went for Sunday lunch and chose the set, traditional meal. Quality of meal was ok and price reasonable for a restaurant though a little on the high side if you take a family. Staff were very pleasant and attentive and service was very good. The overall setting of restaurant and hotel was pleasant and comfortable. My only gripe was the very expensive drinks and lack of choice in beers, one lager and one beer. Hence the 4 stars.

Very good service and beautifull place to stay but drinks at the bar way to expensive, better to go to some nice cocktail bar instead having a drink there.

Brilliant! Friendly staff, superb food, amazing wine choice. Fabulous evening. Can't wait to visit again.

My friends were staying at the hotel. We decided the eat at the Bistro. We had the Chateaubriand steak medium/rare for £65, which was advertised to share between two people. The steak was exactly how we ordered, and was lovely; however the portion size was somewhat small, around 500g. It came with a side of baby carrots and a portion of chips. A couple of my friends bought two cigars for £47, coming from someone who does not smoke seemed extortionate. We had a look at their room afterwards. The room was open plan with a separate room only for the toilet only. In the centre of the room was a king size bed and a 55" TV, right of the TV had a small alcove where a desk was located. The room had a massive rain shower and bath tub behind and on either side of the bed. Behind the bed itself was two wash basins. On the Monday night they were paying £114.

Lovely exterior, poor room. I had booked to stay in the standard room for one evening. On arriving I was stunned with the exterior of the hotel. It was gorgeous. Truly picturesque. We had also been given the superior room for a free upgrade which I thought was very nice of the hotel to do. But on staying overnight I was not happy. Firstly and mainly the air-conditioning was broken in the whole hotel so the room got very hot, very fast and no way to cool down. There was no portable fan on my asking for one which other hotels provide when this happens. There was also no fridge in the room to cool the drinks we had brought and thus they got warm fast too. To try and counter this heat in the room all of the windows were opened to the room which helped a tiny bit. The problem is the windows only open a tiny way with a mechanism stopping then opening any further. The problem also with this is there is a major road outside the room and the noise of cars and vans passing all through the night meant we had serious problems sleeping. The bed was seriously uncomfortable to add to this too. Very lumpy feeling on your back so could not get comfortable. To round it off the toilet wouldn't flush. To confirm what I mean by this the toilet would flush (and make a huge racket in the bedroom outside when it did, really loud that went in for 5 whole mins). But after this nothing had actually flushed away. Very embarrassing to say the least.

Been here several times for Sunday Brunch and never been disappointed. Today was for a friends birthday and we had great service and the meal was the usual high standard. I would like to thank all of the staff for a lovely afternoon. I can't recommend this place highly enough — I only wish there were more stars to give.

Great service, meals in the restaurant were good. Only down side were the stairs to get to your room but on the hotel side they were happy to help our group.

Location is ten minutes walk from quayside. The car park was full on arrival however parking across the road was available and free as after 18.30. Staff were very helpful, place was immaculate.

The superior double rooms are a real treat with a mezzanine level for the roll-top bath and monsoon shower. Parking is limited and pricey (£10/night) but the hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Newcastle in the quayside area.

Friend had arranged for 5 of us to have afternoon tea with cocktails. Phone call received in the morning to say they were only doing mothers day special teas at am extra £15 per person (they'd bought some tissue paper roses. Good effort. ) — probably should have mentioned that before? Called back and they said we could still have the cocktail-tea we wanted. Arrived, we were ignored for 20 minutes then told the tea with cocktails we wanted wasn't on their menu any more. Another 5 mins while waiter spoke to manage — still no, despite having received confirmation on the phone just a couple of hours earlier. We stood up to leave and the manager suddenly runs over — 'oh, don't go, we can probably substitute your glass of fizz for a cocktail! ' Awkward, embarrassing, so we left. Either be accommodating or don't, and don't leave people sat for 20 minutes when there are 3 things on the menu. Don't think I'll be rushing back.

Room upgrade well worth it. Lovely interior, enjoyed our stay. Little out the way though so be prepared to walk and taxi.

Great hotel, nice rooms with impressive features.

We had our work Christmas party here. Food was OK, place was lovely. The only problem I had was that it took far too long to complete the meal. We entered the dining room at about 8 and finished our desert at about 10.30.

Amazin place. Cant wait to go back.

Bring proof of your breakfast entitlement, denied a full English. On my wedding night, well and truly not impressed, lets just hope its a once off.

Nice boutique hotel, from the always excellent Hotel du Vin/Malmaison brand. A little way out of the the centre of the city but worth it.
