Comfortable and clean hotel 10 minutes from the A1, and a 15 minute walk from the centre of 'The Toon' — all downhill, therefore on the way back… There's also an Indian restaurant attached, but haven't eaten there.

Nice rooms but let down by rude and incompetent staff.

Recently renovated hotel, rooms ok but well worth the stay because of the adjoining restaurant.

Not what I expected. Staff not really all that bothered. Room was ok I suppose. Bathroom light constantly flickering on and off. Paint flaking of the ceiling above the shower. Room door wouldn't lock unless you slammed it shut as mentioned my the receptionist (sorry to the people next door). Breakfast was cold ie egg omelette sausage streaky bacon and beans. Toaster only did one side at a time. No extra sockets to charge phones. TV wobbled on the wall. Dont think I'd be going back. Other than that had a fab weekend.

Stayed in a room on the side near the road which made traffic very loud. Didn't have food here but the area to eat in is very small and right by reception so would have been a tad uncomfortable. However, overall was a clean decently sized room.

Clean and comfortable hotel. The self service breakfast however wasn't very good though. Streaky bacon, cheap beans and plain omlete on the hot plate.

My fiance and I stayed at the Ryokan Hotel for one night on our way back down south from Edinburgh. It wasn't well signposted so we drove passed it accidentally and had to double back. We intended to go out into Newcastle for the evening but circumstances came about and we ended up needing to stay in the room. It and the bathroom were very spacious and well decorated, the bed was comfortable if a little hard, and it was very clean. The views were terrible as the hotel is located right next to what looks like a council estate. Our room was facing a block of flats and I think every room faces that way too so not much choice there. We were placed in a room above the Indian restaurant that is attached to the hotel which caused some problems, with cigarette smoke coming through and shouting punters stood under our closed window. I later went down to purchase water from the reception and mentioned it to the receptionist, who offered immediately to move us, but most of those issues had died down by that point in the night as it was getting late. The TV was small but I know that for most people isn't an issue. Its location was close enough for a cheap Uber or a 20 min walk into the centre of newcastle. Over all I'd say it wasn't worth the money we paid (£87pn) but there was nothing wrong with the hotel itself.

Great and central with plenty of parking. But… breakfast room far too small.

It was a lovely room, good size, tea and coffee, and toiletries. The bed was rather hard though, and I woke up a few times feeling a bit achey.

Great hotel, don't be put off by the outside area. Lovely staff, super comfy rooms and beds, restaurant one of the best For Indian food in the area. Only downside is that the rooms need bigger TVs as the ones currently installed are too small for the rooms (rooms are a good size)

Very very disappointed, after a misunderstanding regarding room occupancy the receptionist literally went on a defensive verbal attack to the point where I could not get a word in!, my wife & our friends witnessed this which to be very frank was disgraceful & embarrassing, secondly the breakfast was very lame, we will definitely never stay here again!

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Nice room with a good sized bathroom. Bed slightly too hard for my liking, but other than that I've no complaints.

Excellent location to city centre and amenities. Good sized room with all essentials, plus on site parking. Very friendly and polite staff. Very surprised, but pleased with room rate! Will definitely use again.

Positive professional hard working staff helpful and order cabs which return fair rates. Tasteful breakfast included, bathroom clean and well kept. I really have no quams or issue with where I stayed.

Very comfortable and clean hotel, highly recommended, best night sleep for a long time.
