Clean place friendly staff nice location but very tired needs updating.
advertised as a 4 star definitely not premier inn has it beat hands down on its rooms very disappointed amazing what glossy pictures can do!

It's a lovely stay from start to finish. Great staff, spotless rooms and lovely views of the river… Couldn't fault it so after coming back today we have rebooked for August.

If you are looking for a venue to get married at or to have your celebrations after the ceremony, we couldn’t recommend the Copthorne Hotel enough. Everything was absolutely perfect and the staff genuinely care about you. They couldn’t have done anymore for us if they tried. There’s not one negative comment we could make about this hotel and the staff. The location is absolutely beautiful, the food is amazing, the room that we used for our wedding breakfast/evening celebrations was decorated beautifully. They made our day so special and we would like to thank every member of staff, you were all fantastic and so friendly. We will definitely be using the hotel again. Thank you so much for everything that you did for us.

Stayed for our anniversary in suite on 5th floor. The room was very clean and excellent views of the river and bridges. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Visually, a great looking hotel. Set on the banks of the river tyne, views are pleasing on the eye.
Food was just amazing, staff are very helpful. Every amenity you can think of. I will definitely be returning for another great meal.

Beautifully decorated, gorgeous food, the bar staff are very courteous and proficient. Female waitresses could do with learning to smile. They looked as if their faces were tripping them.

Had my baby shower here this afternoon. Fabulous room, excellent food. We opted for an afternoon tea style buffet and hot finger food. We were looked after well. My only recommendation would be unlimited tea and coffee like most afternoon tea I've had anywhere else:) however the price pp for the food and a single hot drink is reasonable xxx.

My partner and I stayed overnight for the New Year Gala Dinner. From start to finish… Fabulous! The staff couldn’t do enough for you, food was amazing and the room beautifully decorated. Loved being on the quayside too so we could watch the fireworks at midnight. On top of that, breakfast was being served up until noon, free parking too. We really enjoyed our stay. Well done to all involved!

Located at the lovely location, rooms are quite big along with cozy beds. Only down side is water tap in bathroom wasn't working well. Overall totally recommended hotel.

Nice hotel, great breakfast. Only down side is the metro rail bridge over the river not far away. You can hear the trains on the river side of the hotel but they didn't effect my sleep. Would recommend.

Lovely stay at the weekend. Upgraded to a club room overlooking the river which was lovely. The hotel is looking a bit tired but it was spotlessly clean and all the staff were lovely. Ordered room service but When it came it was cold, complained and the cost was taken off our bill, you can't ask for more.

Really outstanding! Room was excellent, comfy beds, nice view etc. Really helpful friendly staff. Food in the restaurant was about the best cheese burger and chips I’ve ever had, and the beer was really tasty too! The room service for breakfast for an additional £3 was first class. We stayed for one night, but will definitely book again.

Love the copthorne. We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and when we arrived we found they had upgraded us to a suite! It was huge, right on the quayside overlooking the water, corner spot with amazing views all along the quayside. The hotel is huge, modern and elegant. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and I have a very bad back. Because you are on the quayside next to the water you don't hear any noise. Waking up on a bright sunny morning with the sun glittering on the water, french doors open and standing on the little balcony in your complimentary white toweling robe, birds singing. Total bliss! Bathroom is spacious. Would stay here in a flash. Definitely be back!

Had a really nice, 2 course Sunday lunch. Beef was cooked really nicely… massive Yourkshire pudding. Nicely cooked vegetables too. Staff were very pleasant. Nice location, overlooking the river.

Loved this hotel simple to get to off the A1 straight into hotel car park and seen to very quickly with helpful very friendly staff loved our room and view of the river with comfy beds plenty to eat at breakfast and central to everything would deffinatly go back again the air con not very cold but wouldn't stop me going back and already recommended it to all my friends thanks for the lovely welcome and will be deffinatly go back at some point.

I booked a twin room for myself and my teenage daughter and we both had a lovely stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, calling taxis for us and recommending local places to eat (the restaurant was closed for a private function). The room was bright and airy with a fantastic river view and the beds were very comfortable. We would certainly recommend staying here and will hopefully return soon.

Always enjoy staying at this hotel, I know my coach is secure as it's locked inside the hotel compound, rooms always nice, great views up and down the river. Well placed for the city and for food outlets.

We were upgraded to a suite which was a lovely surprise. The room was large and quiet and had a nice view of the river. The building is quite obviously old and a bit outdated though and the electrical outlets gave me a shock!

The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was spacious but need some touch up. My room was along the river and some people had fishing at night. Its quite interesting.

We booked a large room for a ball. The staff were really friendly and helpful and despite its being extremely rowdy at points they were happy to let us enjoy ourselves. Throughout the night it appeared safety was a key priority for staff as they kept us from taking glass into the dancefloor as people were dancing in bare feet. The hotel even let us stay an hour longer than our booking for no extra cost. Great night overall.

Lovely warm comfy room, Restaurant excellent although a little expensive. Fabulous aspects to the room which overlooked The River Tyne. Lots of places of interest to visit within walking distance. A really enjoyable stay, we may return. God Bless.

Booked a riverside suite for the evening of Saturday, 17 March 2018. Our plans were to enjoy the hotel with all its facilities and dine in the restaurant in the evening. When booking we telephoned and the lady advised us to book online and reserve dinner in person at check-in. When we checked in we were told by the receptionist (who was miserable) that the restaurant was closed as a wedding was taking place. We were very disappointed and the receptionist said she would speak to her manager and come back to us, she didn’t. Obviously the weather on this evening has been quoted as ‘beast from the east’ and we had to leave the hotel to dine elsewhere in atrocious weather. When checking out we mentioned our disappointment to a different receptionist and we received a whole £9 to park our car for free. When planning a night away some people really want to spend their money at your facilities, it would be advantageous to inform guests what you have available or not on the day/night of booking. On recommendation we chose your hotel but obviously we feel we made the wrong choice.

Rooms have good views across the Tyne, but are in need of an update. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good but pricey. We ate in the restaurant and had steak on a Groupon deal. Couldn't fault the meal.

Afternoon tea was truly awful. I encourage management to look at the 'offering' as I feel it reflects on the hotel. It was more like a children's tea party — no style, flair or finesse. Basic sandwiches and whoever made the scones and cakes can't bake! — FABULOUS setting — such a shame I will never return as if they can't manage afternoon tea I will not waste my time going for a meal.

To summarize quickly I would stay here again. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good quality. Generally the hotel is nicely kept and spacious. It's one of the quietest stays I have had in any hotel for a very long time. Bed very comfy and view of the Tyne is amazing. The entrance does not look like you would expect from the street, but cleverly all the rooms face the river. Downsides… steep set of steps to get back upto the town in all directions. Rooms look a little dated in decor but everything worked. Air con / heating little noisy. We stayed during one of the coldest weekends of the year and the large glazed windows felt draughty. Hot water on Saturday morning was hard to get at 9:30, but at all other times it was fine.

Got a great late deal for a Saturday night stay in a standard double room and everything was excellent. The room was large and very clean. Equipped with a mini fridge, room safe and an internet enabled TV the room was great. Breakfast was a standard buffet served by very polite staff. Great view from our room too.

Afternoon tea was very nice. Lovely seat looking out on the River Tyne on a lovely sunny day! Will go back again.

Fantastic ambience and friendly staff. Food was very nice and would recommend it for a nice lunch or evening outing. Its spacious and has and can accommodate a lot of people for events.

My husband and I went to have a special meal tonight as it was coming up to my 70 th birthday, we had a voucher for a steak meal and wine
I’d had to phone them as we were delayed but the staff were very good about it. The meal came, looked really nice until you tried to eat it, the steak was really tough, no taste to the meat at all, for this to be a special occasion it was so disappointing to say the least
When asked if we had enjoyed the meal, the waitress looked at the fall a meal that was still on the plate, apologies were said and offered us a free dessert and coffee but we decided not to have it, the meal and atmosphere was spoilt
I would not recommend anyone to go for a meal there from a very disappointed customer.

Went for the gin and tonic afternoon tea. Was pleased the sandwiches had normal fillings (ham, egg, cheese, tuna). The cream for the scones was delicious. The other sweet things were nice but I've had nicer elsewhere. The drinks were excellent, could tell it was quality gin. The environment was very pleasant and warm — quite the contrast to watching the snow fall on the riverside. I would definitely return if the wowcher offer was on again.

Great hotel in a lovely position next to river. Dinner was good but dining room very quiet so no atmosphere at all. Worth a visit.

Really nice hotel, all you can eat breakfasts. Nice room looking over the river. Has a minibar, also deliver food late at night if need be. Have the option of a late checkout if you want for an extra £10 an hour. The hotel has a onsite gym, the bar there is really nice and service there is good.

Brilliant location, all bedrooms look out over the Tyne. Very nice public areas and bar. Close to quayside attractions, bars, sage, Baltic, millennium bridge etc. Did not have dinner but very good breakfast. Secure car park.

I attended an event that we hold on a monthly basis. The Copthorne is a good location but we don't always have enough water supplied. Apart from that, the venue is great.

Put together the location, the parking, the cost of the accommodation and you end up with a great hotel for visiting the Metro Radio Arena, or Newcastle on general. Room was very spacious, Wi-Fi was free and signal strength strong. Breakfast was plentyfull. Staff were very helpful. Overall I would recommend. Would have gotten 5 stars if it was a bit more modern.

The rooms are huge and all have a fantastic view over the river. The breakfast was good. The one negative is that the hotel is starting to show its age and signs of a lack of tlc. Locationwise the hotel is well placed for the eateries and pubs on the Quayside, but most of the newer developments have tended to shift further along away from the hotel. It's a bit of a climb on foot to Central station but still only about 10 minutes walk if you can find the secret steps. Worth another visit if I get a good deal on price, like we did this time.

Nice hotel. Good accommodation and beautiful site. Time has started showing its effects though and some services need improvements to meet the standards that you pay and expect (breakfast, parking). Overall good and experienced staff with friendly manners.

Rooms are pretty basic. But the lady at reception was simply awesome! What a great customer service from her.

We had the afternoon tea with a group of twenty. The service was pleasant, and the location was excellent. The afternoon tea wasn't particularly good, but it worked for a big group.

Went for afternoon g&t tea lovely warm scones and a selection of gins the function rooms were spacious we didn't stay the night so can't comment on the accommodation.

Only used conference facilities but very comfortable, nice food laid on, tea and coffee for tea break and water on table. Excellent accessibility and good parking. Central location (I think). Overall a good venue for a conference.

I was attending a work party at the hotel and had a great night. The food was excellent and there was a wide variety available. The private bar was quite small so we had to queue for drinks but the evening went really well. It was great to be able to sit outside looking along the river Tyne while having a good drink and party.

Rooms were good. Toilets clean. Great view from the room overlooking the river Tyne. Food was very good. Staff are very helpful and always smiling. T. V was pants the digital signal was weak. Could not get films at all. All in all rooms for improvement but I would come back again.

Room: hot, bad ventilation and air con is equivalent to glorified fan. Also lacks plug sockets and is generally outdated. Breakfast: excellent range, well presented buffet and well looked after by staff. Location: superb location adjacent to river and.

This hotel has an initial wow factor, nice reception area, spacious rooms with beautiful views. However you soon noticed the rooms could do with a little TLC, Air Con non existent which made being in the room very uncomfortable never mind sleeping. The shower was hit and miss 2 cold showers endured due to not hot water. The TV didn't work, I reported this and was ensured maintenance would fix it (it wasn't) not that this was the end of the world but I like some back ground noise when in my room. The Wi-Fi although complimentary is hit and miss and and I'm writing this in reception on 4G. The breakfast however is a redeeming feature and enjoyed it very much. Overall I think I would try somewhere else first before staying here again.

Not bad for what you get I've heard but I've not stayed here. But the views are great and the location is great. Meal selection is limited.

Cannot write highly enough of this hotel experience. The room was clean spacious and had a bayed window looking out over the river. Quiet location and nice for walking/jogging along the river path. The staff were exceptional particularly the cleaning attendants who were very receptive to anything you needed. Would definitely revisit.

I was here for a work event. As I live only 10 minutes away, I didn't stay the night. Food served was mediocre, although that (and alcohol) were pre-paid by my company, so I can't really complain.

The hotel was the best stay we had on our journey. The view from our room was outstading. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone. The dining room and bar were also excellent.

My wife and I booked the hotel for our wedding reception and had a fantastic experience! Susi Lennie was extremely helpful from first looking around right up to the day itself, when Johnny and Paul looked after all the guests brilliantly. We will continue to call in for a drink when on the Quayside and cannot thank the team enough for helping to make 5th September the perfect wedding day!
