Very welcoming, friendly professional staff, lovely food. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. Fantastic atmosphere beautiful kept pub in keeping with its features. Lovely area near to a lot of historic places.

Everything was perfect from start to finish. Sat 16th to Monday 18th. Food superb,, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, Steak cooked to perfection.

Amazing service, delicious food and massive portions. Steak was cooked to perfection, and my partners’ lamb shank was so soft and fell off the bone. They were amazing in making my partner feel special for his 40th birthday. Thank you!

One of my favourite places to stay in Winter, the heating is always the perfect temperature in the lovely rooms, the open fire place in the bar is perfect to sit by with a glass of wine and the food is great. Been every December for years, love it.

The Woolpack Inn, invited me to work as a medium in the lovely back room. They was so friendly and helpful. After my work I chose to sit in the bar for half an ale, I shall definitely return as a customer with my family. Lovely ambience x.

Lovely building. Comfy bedrooms. Staff were fantastic. We have just had a 3 night stay here. 5 grandchildren all under the age of 6! Staff were marvellous. So understanding and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you so much for making our short break manageable ❤❤❤

After a disappointing visit a year ago we returned on Friday and I am pleased to say it was a very enjoyable evening! Staff were friendly and attentive, the food came quickly and we all enjoyed our meals. Added bonus it was fizz Friday; £9.99 a bottle of Prosecco! We will definitely be returning.

Lovely food. Visited with our 4 children and my parents. 2 of our group have restricted diets but with so much to choose from on the menu everyone had a good choice. Couldn't fault the food, price or service.

The very warm welcome when we turned up at the Woolpack we've never been there before and the staff were great on arrival. It was what it was, it's an old building that has been modernised downstairs and the rooms are what you would expect from a pub of this size. The only reason it doesn't have more stars if the rooms could be modernised a little bit more but apart from that all good decent value for money.

Good evwnjng meal reasonably priced. Friendly staff with good knowledge of the gins on offer. Room we srayed in overnight was comfortable and quiet. Buffet Breakfast good but we had to ask for a number of items to be replenished. Would stay again.

Absolutely terrible place, food is dreadful atmosphere was very unwelcoming, rooms were dirty. Would not recommend this place, you would think where it is situated food would be locally sourced it clearly wasn't, breakfast was clearly done in microwave and the wait for food was unbelievable bearing in mind the restaurant was always empty.

Stayed over with work for 3 nights. Staff were very friendly. Room was too hot only one small window. Food was very poor especially breakfast. Long wait times even though it didn't seem particularly busy. Flies everywhere. After reading the reviews was looking forward to the stay. Perhaps they had a bad week. Overall very disappointed.

Lovely staff elevate the experience. Good food, good decor and a sheltered courtyard. I visit lots of different food pubs but this is one I will keep returning to.

Great place with warm welcome, lovely staff who have humour and are willing to chat. Arrived, checked in, bathed and down to dinner. Restaurant was packed, told our order (3 meals) would take half hour… I don't mind a wait for good food… but it arrived in 15 mins. Good service on a very busy Wednesday eve, and yes, it was bloody good food. Rooms are good too. Recommend any day.

I’ve eaten here with my family and with my mum and a friend. The food is really good, fresh cooked takes longer but the wait is worth it. As long as you aren’t in a hurry this is a pleasant place to sit and chat while you wait. There are often good special offers too. No complaints from any of the family so it must be good.

We had dinner here for my dad's birthday. The bar was a little too noisy but the restaurant section was great. We found all the staff to be fantastic and the food great quality. Excellent all round!

Made use of a Sunday lunch special offer on Facebook. Have eaten here before in the week with no complaints but this was our 1st visit on a Sunday. The food was very nice & fresh (broccoli was a bit hard for my liking) but that's how a lot of places serve it nowadays. Because of the offer we were able to splash out on a pud that was very nice.

Great country pub selling good food and real ales. Service is friendly and efficient. Rooms are characteristically typical of the age of the building, creek's and wooded beams so don't expect a modern hotel room. The rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable but avoid the top rooms if you are tall, don't like small narrow staircases and like a large showering space. Overall good value, easy to find and would definitely return.

One of England's Old Inns with a warm welcome. Rooms were comfortable & clean, nice shower and bath. A lovely restaurant with an enclosed outdoor area. Good menu and food delicious. Breakfast was cooked for you and brought straight from the kitchen on a plate (rather than buffet style and kept warm) which I liked. Cereals and fruit juice on a help yourself basis. Would stay here again.

Real value for money stay so close to Longleat. Rooms decorated tastefully and with good amenities. Atmosphere very welcoming and people are friendly. Would return again.

Went here on mother's day and ended up waiting for 2 hours, with no offer of any complimentary food or drink to keep us going which was a problem for my diabetic grandad, only for a member of staff to tell us that it would be 20 minutes longer at which point I walked back to Frome because I couldn't face waiting any longer. Won't ever be returning to the pub again even with a change of ownership I'm sure the place would still remind me of what was till this day the worst service I've received in my life. Even going through Beckington I still get annoyed just thinking about it which ruins what would be such a nice place. Not to mention it was on mother's day which made things worse because not only did it ruin my day and week as a whole but it ruined it for my mum which is what mattered. Unless you're into waiting literally hours for overpriced, average food that's made to look all contemporary and niche alongside poor customer service I would highly recommend avoiding what has become my least favorite place in the country. I don't even eat out anymore in fear that I may experience something similar elsewhere. I may sound like exaggerating but PLEASE avoid this place. Also I know it's very late considering it's now November but until this point I didn't even want to type the name of the pub into a search engine in fear of smashing up my phone from the unforgettable bad memories I have of this absolute hellhole.

Calamari overpriced for portion. Burger was nice, but slightly overcooked for my taste. Staff was nice, and environment friendly. Pretty pub. Fairly good experience.

Visited for family celebration. Good menu for children and adults. We had two sharing dishes to start and ribs and steak dishes for mains. All cooked well and staff were pleased to serve drinks and top ups. Looking forward to returning soon.

We went to the Woolpack on the recommendation of the woman in the B&B we were staying in, as they didn't do food until 6. We had a few drinks, and a some food and it was excellent! The wife had the pork and chorizo burger, I had the share platter, and both were excellent! The staff were friendly, and we'd definitely visit again.

We popped into the Woolpack for a late lunch whilst in the area for a party. The food was incredible all four of my party were more than happy with their meals. Prices were reasonable and drinks were good too especially the raspberry koppaberg on tap.

Came for lunch only. Lovely place, bar warm and inviting. Ordered couple of drinks. Coke was flat to start so drink had to be changed. Must have waited over an hour for meal to be served with no apology from staff i had to go to the bar to ask if we had been forgotten. The staff member informed us that there was only one chef on and they were waiting for the sauce! both my partner and I found this to be a very feeble excuse. The restaurant was very almost empty at this point. hoping the food would be worth the wait it finally came. I must say it was not! I had lamb cutlets, which looked like it just been thrown on the plate, with no presentation whatsoever. my partner had the fish which was okay (ish) it was a definate" no no" for us and will not be visiting again.

Came in for a family meal. All the dishes were good quality, delicious food, well presented, in a pleasant atmosphere, with friendly staff. Would visit again.

This is a quite a good pub in many respects. A choice of well kept beer. The food is good. 1 gripe which I hope a few will agree with: no comfy chairs to relax in, just tables and dining chairs, not even bench seats tucked in cosy corners. Very disappointing when there is plenty of room in this large pub where dozens of diners can be accommodated and it wouldn't hurt to put in a few easy chairs. This is a very regrettable trend in many old pubs — they are losing their atmosphere of cosiness.

We had a lunch here recently. Friendly staff. Good menu, reasonably priced. Good service. We recommend it for a meal out.
