Like visiting boot camp. Barked instructions from staff, illegal insistence on tracking details and a miserable atmosphere, staff not particularly friendly. Will never visit again. Went to The Church Inn instead, lovely friendly place, much nicer.

Had a beautiful 3 course meal here last night. So relaxing, service was fantastic and the food was absolutely delicious.

Didn’t stay overnight but had lunch here on the outside upstairs terrace overlooking the river & a view of Ludlow top town. Enjoyable light lunch of fish finger sandwich accompanied by skinny chips which was ample & tasty… my husband had the steak burger also enjoyable! The female staff member was very accommodating & friendly.

A lovely, comfy B&B that offers great value for money. The rooms are comfortable and well supplied and the staff are friendly. The only tiny downside was that there was a rattling around from other rooms' extractor fans in the morning that stopped me from sleeping.

A very popular place with visitors to the area, the location is near ideal: placed on the outside of a bend in the river, overlooking the an ancient bridge and wide expanse of water and wildlife. We have not stayed in the rooms here, but have been for a drink a few times. They understand their place (and importance) in the town and take service very seriously. We are always attended with a smile and courtesy. Food is at the higher end of English pub fare, not what a visitor might expect from the culinary capital of Shropshire, but more than one could expect from the usual pub offerings. Their upstairs balcony is where to enjoy a drink on a sunny day. Prices were a smidge above other pubs in the area.

Lovely location right on the river where you can catch a glimpse of a Kingfisher and other birds. Evening meal was excellent and fairly priced. Five minutes walk into the centre of Ludlow. The room was clean and comfortable and staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back.

Top notch steak and good service. Meal for 2 adults and one child cost 66 quid. Good value for money I think as this covered one starter, three mains, one ice cream and 4 drinks. Looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful Inn by the river Teme. AA 5 star Inn. Only reason I rated it 4 star was because we had the top floor bedroom which is a converted roof space/attic. Very hot and stuffy which aggravated my asthma, though the fan provided helped. Roof slopes deeply on one side and even at 5' 2" tall I couldn't stand straight on my side of the bed. Would definitely recommend a stay and would go again provided I had a room on a lower floor as rooms fitted out to a high standard and meals very good too.

Stayed two nights, and enjoyed the spacious room (the Capulet Room) with large bath (including huge tub and separate shower). Staff very friendly, and breakfast was lovely with some less-common options such as haddock on toast.

Very relaxing sitting on upper deck in sunshine with excellent river view. Dog friendly and staff very friendly. We both ordered tuna which was cooked on both sides but raw in the middle which was not to our liking. Staff did not return to table to ask if we were happy with meal and it was a hike downstairs to find them. Would return again but will not order same meal.

Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful setting. Located right next to the river their is both inside and outside seating courtesy of a terrace. The menu is simple yet effective, the fish finger sandwich in particular was to die for! Staff were extremely helpful.

Beautiful setting by the river. Staff attentive and pleasant. Steak good and tasty. However, asked for salad instead of fries and got a small handful of salad leaves and a few pieces of onion. Not good for nearly £19.

Lovely hotel. Stayed 4 nights and loved the room. Separate bath & shower very spacious. Staff very helpful. Very clean. The restaurant was wonderful and food was delicious and well presented. Well worth a visit. Hope to return next year.

Great food, staff, service and location. What's not to like? Would heartily recommend anyone to eat here overlooking Ludford Bridge and the River Teme.

If you spend some time in Ludlow, then I would advise you visit this wonderful riverside establishment. Being a 4 star hotel it offers fine food, wines & ales served in a well furbished and comfortable restaurant. When I last visited it was purely to sample the well presented real ales and to enjoy the delightful views from the two sun terraces overlooking the river, weir and medieval bridge. All of the staff and management team were extremely professional, knowledgeable and above all, polite, between them they create a warm, friendly ambience that is as good as any I have experienced on my travels.

Just spent 2 nights at the Charlton Arms and had a great time. Food was good and real ale on tap. Rooms were comfortable, though a bit warm for me. The staff are great and helpful. This is the second time we have been here and we will be back for a third time. Would recomend it to all.

An excellent hotel and restaurant. Lovely meal for four was around £130 and great quality. Black pudding scotch egg seems to be everyone's favourite. Rooms by the river have the noise of the river all night when it's in spate. Lovely site for exploring Ludlow and the area. Plenty of parking.

Very busy on Saturday lunchtime but we were accommodated well and food, although it took a while due to the busy nature of the place was absolutely delicious. Will be lovely as the weather improves to take a seat on the roof terrace and watch the river go past.

The hotel is situated just outside the town of Ludlow. There is a picturesque view of a river with a powerful current flowing under the main bridge that leads into the town. The hotel itself is Shakespear themed with a very cosy and welcoming environment. The hotel rooms themselves are beautifully decorated and are welcoming. I recommend staying at this venue if planning an adventure into the beautiful town of Ludlow.

What a fabulous hotel looks as if just been renovated, could not stay as was fully booked called in for a beer after a very long walk Sat outside overlooking the river so relaxing.

Pleasent atmosphere. Great time had by all. Great selection of beer and good value for money. Would gladly go again.

Today we had a very pleasant lunch with a friend in the restaurant overlooking the river. We chose from the seasonal August menu. There were 9 starters to choose from, 12 mains, 5 desserts and a separate cheese menu. We spotted Clam Chowder amongst the starters which we love but seldom see on the menu anywhere. However, when it arrived instead of the luscious bowl of soup we were expecting, it was in fact a few shell on clams with diced bacon in a chowder sauce and served on a piece of toasted sour dough bread. It was perfectly tasty and acceptable but certainly not what we were expecting. Our friend ordered the twice baked cheese souffle which he enjoyed. For mains we both had a lovely and beautifully presented vegetable and goats cheese tart with a mixed leaf salad. Our friend enjoyed his buffalo mozzarella with broad beans and peas. We had a nice bottle of Muscadet and coffees to finish. Overall very enjoyable food and excellent service in a idyllic setting.

The settings for the pub are beautiful sit and relax watching the ducks in the river Remember. Lovely atmosphere. The restaurant is very spacious tables are not cramped. Food was good but I have had better. Would go again so can't be that bad.

We regularly go to the Charlton with friends and are always made to feel very welcome. The views are stunning and quite often sneak down for a quick lunch on the terrace in summer. We had our Christmas meal there and once again were not disappointed. The food as always was excellent, the braised beef just fell apart in your mouth. I would highly recommend the Charlton and always send our customers down for lunch too.

I only called into the bar, so can't comment on the restaurant or rooms, although I can say the place looks great from outside, especially the river frontage. I called in twice for a beer whilst walking the dog and enjoyed the beer immensely. Sadly the third time I called I waited around for service in the bar but no staff took any notice, so we walked out. Keeping an eye on potential customers in the bar area seems to be a problem out of main mealtime periods.

Great selection of local beer and lovely food with terrific terrace overlooking the river. Liked the AstroTurf floor, as it made a welcome change from the usual decking. Nice comfortable chairs to enhance the views over the fantastic stone bridge.

Reasonable selection of ales, staff fine, but for me Ludlow is a VERY good food town where almost all of the eateries use where possible locally grown / produced produce, I'm not so sure if the same can be said here — beef was extremely tough in my opinion.

Dont bother with this pub. Man behind the bar was very rude and unhelpful, all I asked was for a beer and how to get to the terrace!

We stayed here recently with our dog. We found the staff friendly and extremely helpful. The braeakfast was exceptional and the dinner we ate in the evening was also very good. We are returning again soon.

A long wait for a re-warmed and over priced "boil-in-the bag" lamb shank that was barely warm enough. The whole meal seemed to have been prepared like pub food and garnished with restaurant prices. The man who seems to be the head cook and bottle washer is a pompous twerp who should really take more care of his customers. There are plenty of better places to eat in Ludlow. Stayed December 2014, travelled with friends.

Went for a few days over Christmas and had the most wonderful time. Cedric Bosi and colleagues couldn't have been nicer. Our room was fabulous; overlooking the river; 'jacuzzi' bath in the en-suite; everything spotlessly clean. We had a superb 5 course Christmas Day lunch and Cedric and staff really attentive and couldn't have been more helpful. We loved it and will definitely return — we've recommended it to many family and friends. Thank you everyone at The Charlton Arms.
