There is not enough information on their website. We arrived to find that there was no lift and both myself and my husband are disables so struggle with stairs. We had made sure we were booking a hotel with a restaurant only to be told it isn't open Friday — Sunday. I told him that there was no mention of this on their website and that in fact it states they do a great Sunday roast! The whole place needs a lot of tlc. Paint chipping, old glut left behind from stickers in the bath for eg. The only positive note I can tbe is that the bed was very comfortable once we climbed all the stairs.
Breakfast was ok… didn't go near the off fruit bowl so therefore put you off.

Has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Noisy rooms and staff who are too scared to do anything about it. Will never be staying here again.

Lovely staff, fantastic meals, great room, hotel is a beautiful old house with all its original features, stunning, and very clean.

Love this place from the day thatvi didbmy first Time travel workshop how many years ago.
Awareness of differences & difficulties
Colleague /sign lang interpreter on crutches. Deaf friend cant hear well if music clashes they turn it down or find somewhere quieter and patient with a slow person. Giving time to think. My friend lived here on her first months in GB and we did pronounciation lessons at a dining table regularly. Really looking forward to first big TIME TRAVEL event and to solving the Ghost/Or Time Traveller mystery
Breakfast is good too.

The building looks excellent from the outside but that’s it. We were given a room once checked in but we found the room door propped open with dirty towels. We told the receptionist who moved us to another room which thankfully had a locked door. We entered the room and it’s stunk of cigarettes from the previous occupant. We noticed they had also covered the smoke alarm with a carrier bag which hadn’t been removed. The fixtures were either broken or very old. To top it off there was no shower curtain as it had obviously fallen down and just been put in the wardrobe. Never visiting again!

Friendly staff. Food okay. Main issue is cleanliness. The first glass I picked up at breakfast was dirty. I also had to wipe the skirting in my room as it was covered in dust. Lamp above my bed had no shade. Windows in breakfast area look like they haven't been cleaned in ages. Parking good. Bed was really creaky and walls were thin so lots of noise coming through from other room.

Very basic but adequate. It's really a workers hotel, ok for builders' teams, commercial travellers on a brief visit, couples trying to keep a very low profile! The rooms are basic, the Wi-Fi very patchy, the service slow but the breakfast is ok. Overall, ideal for a single bloke on a work stay over. But my wife would walk out on me if I took her to hotel like this! UPDATE Stayed here again and it's steadily going downhill. It's more like a hostel than a hotel. My room today sported an unusual looking green mould on the ceiling which a mycologist would have enjoyed, a TV which only showed BBC One, a broken window propped open with a block of wood and a toilet which barely flushed. An amazing Fawlty Towers experience if nothing else, especially when the lad at reception responded with a 'what do you expect for fifty quid a night? ' attitude. Overall, it's pretty terrible. I didn't think places like this existed outside the nineteen seventies. Probably worth a stay just for novelty value… but then again, probably not.

They gave us instant access to facilities to freshen up. The room was great. Well presented, very clean and fully stocked. The staff were amazingly helpful throughout our whole stay. The breakfast was great. Very highly recommend these guys. You really looked after us.

Very comfy beds, the old type. Very friendly staff. Our daughter loved the stories about the old owner, the cook's daughter and the crown. make sure to visit Richard III and listen to all the coincidences which "can't be coincidences". Lovely in the most british sense.

This was a very low cost room that I stayed in during the worst part of storm Emma. All the bits that should have been clean were and everything that should have been shiny, shined. Staff were friendly, though I didn't meet the catering staff (I ate in the room stocked by a very close co-op under a minutes walk away). Though not what you'd call salubrious, it was functional, practical even cosy. It gets 4 stars because it isn't the four seasons and any less may have looked as though I didn't like it. It was way fine.

Worst place ever manager lou a girl absolutely ridiculous service they will try and rob u on every occasion try squeeze evey penny they will charge u for extra dom the other manager is an absolute thief ronging police on me for no reason whatsoever pleaad choose somewhere else they are bunvh of wankers.

Very hostile proprietor. I complained that the couch in my room was stained badly and very disgusting. Instead of an apology, I was threatened to be kicked out and they started to call the police because they don't deal with customers who complain. At 7:30pm she wanted to have the police remove me from the premises because I complained. I will never stay in any of their properties again.

Quirky and great for the price. The restaurant serves good food, and the bar is well stocked — even if you do feel like you are sat in a Victorian drawing room. A bit far out of town (it's approximately an hours walk) and there isn't much around except houses.

Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Great management. I've worked here previously as a staff member and I cannot fault the place. The atmosphere has always been vibrant. Food cooked to its highest standards and all the staff have been really great to work with. 5 star place. Highly recommended. :)

Love this place. The staff are now family and always have been over the years of visiting Mum and Dad. The food is great and the service excellent. It possesses character and will always do so. I have an awful feeling that once Mum leaves the planet I won't be coming to stay here for much longer. Never say never. I have and do recommend this little gem which is surroundèd by kindness.

Friendly staff, nice food and comfortable bed. Really reasonable price and a good place to stay if travelling alone.

Shower didn't work, £50 for a single room. Asked to speak to the manager and was told that they weren't there. The member of staff promised me a call back that day but no call. Really poor! Don't stay here!

Awful hotel. Dark, dated and dirty. On arrival we checked in at at 3.30pm and we're sent up to our room which should have been ready at 2pm. The room was still being 'cleaned' and so we had to wait in the corridor. When we're able to go into the room it was still dirty with dust and drink stains on the windowsill. The room smelt strongly of cigarettes and felt generally unclean. For £70+ there was no breakfast included, the Wi-Fi didn't work, and customer service on checking out was dismal! Won't return and wouldn't recommend for any occasion or stay!

Whilst the rooms are a little dated, it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast catered for all tastes, was plentiful and hot elements were cooked to order. The staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful and a special shout out goes to Luna and especially the owner, Leonard who is a true gent.

An oldy worldy hotel based near Oadby in Leicester, with creaking stairs and fading carpet. But it's utterly awesome and authentic. Large double beds with soft, springy mattresses — utterly comfortable.

Disgusting place full of mould. Rubbish fixtures. The place is a health hazard.

Disgusting room. Very dated. Over priced for what it is! Old bed, very dangerous mould in room. Do not go to this hotel! Requested an immediate refund and took pictures of the disgusting mould and terrible cracks, leaks, very patchy cover ups to give the perception of a good job gone bad! All mould had been hidden behind the side draws in our room. Number 19. This hotel should not be recommended untill the mould and spors have been taken care of or they fix up the place properly.

Check in was quick, staff were friendly. The rooms and the bed were clean. The fixtures and fittings were a little dated but functional. Breakfast was very nice. A well done and generous full English.

All staff very friendly and when we reported a problem with the toilet in our en suite we were moved to a new room without question. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was really nice with the cooked food made fresh to order. Location is away from the noise of the town centre but with good access by regular buses (or a nice walk).

Only visited a friend who was staying here… ended up at the bar on a really hot day. Was served by an young Asian man who told us it was his first day but he could have fooled as he knew what he was doing. A pint of carling at £3.00 and bottle of magners £4.65 was happy with the price and service. He offered us snacks but we didnt want any. But can't fault anything, drinks given, offered snacks, overall a good service so far. I'll be staying at the regency in september so lookin forward to my stay. Michelle sykes x.

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE BOOKING THE REGENCY HOTEL IN LEICESTER! The place is filthy and mouldy WITH SPIDEAS! … bed is made of bricks… toilets don't flush and are blocked… staff do not know what they are doing… so called free Wi-Fi DOES NOT WORK! When confronted with issues manager was VERY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL! DO NOT STAY HERE AS YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED AS I WAS… NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

Stayed here under very difficult circumstances, my younger sister who was pregnant at the time was admitted into Leicester Royal… Her baby was extremely poorly whilst still inside the womb and when he finally showed his face was rushed into intensive care… Long 12hr days spent at the hospital over a 2week period… made that bit better by the hospitality shown by the owner of this fantastic hotel with some fascinating history behind it… I always said when baby is on the mend I am going to stay there again under better circumstances… I have a feeling that it's going to be sometime very soon… Highly recommend this hotel to any body could not say a bad thing about it… Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my stay as pleasurable as it could of been under the circumstances…

Great service and food. Hotel, restaurant, bar. Specifically like the library off the bar. Great warm English breakfast included. The Wi-Fi is slow for video but otherwise ok.

Good room, nice breakfast. Only downsides were the rubbish internet and no HDMI on the TV.

Friendly staff and comfortable bed but this place has seen better days. Room smells damp, mould around the bathroom and bits of finishing missing. Food average in quality, fairly poor for the money. Was told I couldn't have beans with my full breakfast as the kitchen did not have a tin opener with which to open the can! Fairly quiet and slept well but will not be back.

Had a lovely evening the first nights saty which was the friday the 11/9/2015 staff helpful and could not do enuff. The next nights stay Saturday the 12/9/2015 all was good untill 3am when a group of very drunk guests came back to the hotel and blasted very loud music baning and slamming doors. Till 5, 00am as a result me my husband and are 6 mouth baby girl not being able to sleep at all. When I whent to reception the next day at 8.30 am. And told the person on reception about the trouble from the nights stay he asked if I new Wich room the noise had come from. To which I replied I did not fancy trying at 3am in the morning to find the very drunk people room was they were staying in. He then said I should have ring reception wich at 3am I did not think for one minute would be maned by anyone. And for the life of me if you had someone on reception how they did not hear the booming music is beyond me. Did not stay for breakfast as was so very tryed and just wonted to make the long journey home to get some sleep. Such a shame as I need to stay in Leicester next weekend and was going to book. But will never saty there agian.

Service was first class. Room was excellent. Staff was very helpful and food excellent. And overall cost was reasonable and good value. And I give the,, Regency Hotel London Road, Leicester. 9 out of 10 and staff very friendly I wish to add,,, so WELL DONE!

The house makes the inside very the impression that it has its best years long behind itself. The full English Breakfast every morning was very good.

Excellent — stayed in a lot of hotels but this one is definitely the best value by far. Polite and helpful staff, beautiful room, superb meal, free Wi-Fi, free parking, comfortable bed, Sky TV. Highly recommended.

Myself and my new husband stayed at this hotel for our wedding night, as it was close to our venue and very good value. I was alittle worried after I read the reveiws online, but it was fantasic! They allowed my husband to check in early so he and his bestman could get ready. The staff were wonderful! reception was really helpful, lovely and smiley! The manager then upgraded the room free of charge, which was fab! The rooms have lots of character, lovely four poster bed. The room and bathroom were spotless! We had breakfast in the morning, full english! very fast service, couldnt fault it at all! the waitress was really friendly and helpful! This hotel is not a fancy moden hotel, it is an old english hotel with bags of charactor and brilliant staff! We will definately be going back! thank you for making our special day end so brilliantly! A+++++++++++++++++++.

Stayed 1 night 08/12/08 nice looking place good breakfast good price staff ok beware room 23 boiler&heating pipes banging all night could not sleep.

Stayed on the 30th August in a Superior Double Room. Good points — room was very clean and tidy and spacious. Had continental breakfast in the room which was very nice (fresh fruit, orange juice, toast and preserves, cereal and tea) and delivered spot on the requested time. The bed was very comfortable. The bar/lounge was very nice and comfortable and the food was also lovely. Not so good points — the rooms that face the road really could do with double glazing, could hear loud traffic all through the night. Could have done with a shower hook and curtain around the bath as its quite difficult to hold shower head with one hand, wash (particularly washing hair) and stop water from going all over the floor and toilet. We didnt get the 0715 early morning call that was booked — but luckily the traffic had woken us by then! A nice stay that could be made excellent with a few adjustments — would use again.
