Lovely setting Friendly staff. Service was super quick Fish and chips very tasty. Fish delicious. Chips slightly under cooked but overall really enjoyable.

We love The Millstone of which is our local — we rate the food the atmosphere warm and friendly and service is spot on … such lovely staff — Olivia is amazing and thoughtful — she remembered William had just had his 10th birthday and he was so made up with his decorated dessert — big thanks to you.

This is 5* quality would highly recommend booking a table early on as it can get busy even on a Tuesday.

The staff are friendly and go out of their way to ensure you are happy and have everything you need. The food is fabulous. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere, food, and staff were excellent! Delicious and beautifully presented meals, friendly and helpful staff. Our room was warm and cozy with great attention paid to detail. We absolutely loved it! The bar area was a wonderful place to relax next to a roaring fire in the fireplace.

Excellent food and service — as always! Lovely atmosphere and perfect whenever we visit for lunch. Always something available for meat and non meat eaters.

Slightly disappointed with last night's visit. I have been several times before and it has been great. So I wanted to take some friends. Unfortunately this time wasn't the case. We were booked in for 8pm and when we arrived there was a mix up with our booking. When the full party arrived we subsequently weren't seated formally, so practically seated ourselves to find dirty cutlery on the table. Our starters were perfectly fine, we moved onto mains and the steak pudding was undercooked, therefore wasn't eaten. The deserts were ordered and took 40 minutes to arrive (the time was 10:40 by this point), and prior to this we had already decided to leave. Hence the 2 star rating.

We had Sunday lunch at the Millstone and whilst it was very nice it wasn’t as good as previous visits. One of the members of staff was clearly not enjoying her day and made us feel as though we were putting her out just by being there. My smoked salmon starter consisted of two square pieces of smoked salmon that looked like they were out of a packet of cheap sandwich cuts. My roast pork was tasty but the crackling was too hard to eat and the vegetables of broccoli and carrots were boring. The rice pudding was very nice if a bit sweet.

Traditional homely atmosphere, with a contemporary hint about it — a perfect balance. Very good food and plenty of choice. Quite speedy service and friendly staff. Find it very hard to criticise, so I won't. Highly recommended. Would definitely return.

Pig's Cheek exquisite starter. New menu steak sandwich. possibly the best starter I've ever had. The curry and meat platter were delicious. Superb lunch.

The room? Modern, comfortable and clean. The staff? Helpful, courteous. The food? I think we caught them on a bit of a 'bad' night! Overall? I would certainly recommend the place!

Lovely place! Stayed in the B&B twice and the rooms are beautifully decorated and really quiet — you can’t hear noise from the pub. We paid £99 for a Sunday night stay including breakfast and considering the standard, it was really good value. The pub food is delicious and the menu has a really good range to pick from. For most of the wine list if you’re having more than 2 glasses it’s actually cheaper to buy the bottle!

We went for Sunday lunch, a few went off the main menu and we all enjoyed our food. There is a good selection of drinks from the bar. The staff are friendly and helpful. The decor is lovely.

We came here last night after the food being recommended. It certainly beat expectations. The pub is lovely and clean, the staff were friendly and happy to help, the menu was great. Then came the food, beyond perfect melt in the mouth steaks cooked to perfection the sauces were to die for too. Can not wait to come back again!

A fantastic place. Food is good, but the real selling point is the staff a fantastic team nothing left to chance. Also worth mentioning what a lovely village the hotel is situated in.

I remember when it was just The Millstone. I guess people used to drive on down the A59 and miss it but I digress. Food's very good and there's always a relaxed atmosphere in the place. Sunday roasts are particularly tasty and I'm no stranger to one of those I'll tell you. Try it. You'll like it.

Have eaten here on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. Food of a high quality and served by attentive and efficient staff in a homely comfortable atmosphere. There's also a good selection of real ales.

First time dined here on a busy Sunday afternoon. Excellent menu and superb food. The steak and kidney pudding is the best I've ever tasted. High calibre establishment and well worth it. Thanks for the fantastic service.

Booked for a birthday treat for my boyfriend. We got a drink from the bar as we were early. Quite busy and no were to sit so stood at the bar until our table was ready. I was disappointed we were seated in the bar area and not in the restaurant. We were hemmed in and could hear the next tables conversation. They told us they had overbooked. I wish they had rang and told us. Long wait for our meals although was beautifully cooked. Just felt I had a bar meal for a tenner when really it was meant to be something special.

Lovely dinner out, fantastic service. Quiet and cozy ambiance. Can't criticise the food, everything was amazing. Quite spicy guacamole however! Didn't get chance to try dessert, they can more than fill you up with two courses! Varied gin selection includes rhubarb/ginger and quince which was nice.

Went here for a few drinks on a Sunday afternoon after a walk. Very nice country pub in a lovely village with plenty of parking. Nice selection of German lager and local ales. Quite a big Gin menu as well. Food looked good coming out of the kitchen, the Sunday roast sounded popular as they had run out by 3pm. Not the cheapest pint in the area but not the most expensive however, certainly worth it for the nice setting.

Great restaurant. Great selection of beers & wines. Mixed good village 'local' with relaxed atmosphere or for that special occasion. Typical 'young' service is sometimes a bit iffy, although a visit is thoroughly recommended.

Staff friendly and smiley but alas service let this venue down, waited above an hour for food to be served, then 2 of the orders wrong but we were then soooo hungry we said we would accept what was brought to us, or we would have had to wait for our correct order to be cooked, the food which we had was good, one of our party who had wanted to go to this venue then informed us the same thing had happened recently with a friend of there’s waiting an hour and 15 mins for a starter this is not good and needs to be addressed

I, ve spoken to three of the ladies that went for this meal all stated food good but portions small, seemingly we all went home and had something else to eat, and before anyone comments about our size we are all between a size 8-12 and not greedyI know the place was full but where they running out of food when we were served?

Fantastic food, great quality, reasonably priced with attentive service. Popped in for an impromptu dinner on a Friday afternoon. Nice cozy atmosphere. Varied menu with good choice of daily specials. No delays in service. Highly recommended, will visit again very soon.

Very good pub and hotel, the rooms was good and clean if a bit small. There was an excellent choice of specialty Gins on offer and the breakfast choice was very good can recommend espically the eggs Benedict.

Gents toilet was disgusting on Saturday night. Only one lavatory cubicle with a printed notice stating "OUT OF ORDER — SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE" whilst one of the three or four urinals was overflowing to the floor. Amazingly there is an AA 5* certificate, dated 2017, in the entrance-way. It would be more hygienic to relieve oneself in the car park to the rear — but that's more third world than AA 5*. FWIW the food was good (score at least 8 out of 10 — excepting the incinerated thin slivers of black pudding that accompanied the wonderful seared scallops. The serving staff were pleasant, but obviously ill-trained, over-worked and over-stretched for a busy Saturday night.

The room is superb, however the food is even better!. Great evening meal last night and a tremendous breakfast. Eggs Benedict cooked to perfection!

Asked for a lightly battered fish. When it arrived it was burnt to a crisp on one side. I asked the girl to ask the chefs if this was acceptable and she brought it back and said yes it was! She then said we will do you another but because it was my wife's birthday meal I was forced to eat what bit I could of the burnt fish. On paying for the food I showed the girl who took our order a picture I had taken of the fish and she agreed that it was burnt but couldn't offer us any discount. She was just very apologetic. I came here at Christmas and had a nice meal but this was very poor. I won't be going back ever again and don't advise anybody to have the fish if that's the general quality. The chips were hard and undercooked too Shame!

We've been three times now and the first two times were adequate. Half-decent food, but much better elsewhere and cheaper. Good service though. The third time was awful. Food was over-cooked and the service was snail-paced. Won't be returning to this vastly over-rated restaurant.

The hotel is really nice. The rooms are a bit outdated in the furnishings (intentionally) which isn't to my taste but it's a really nice place. The bar and restaurant are amazing. The food is really good. The staff are fantastic. We had one complaint about the food from a table of 8 and they wiped it off the bill. I would recommend it to anyone working in the area and needing somewhere to stay.

Staff very attentive and helpful, food was excellent in both quality and quantity. Portions size was spot on. Good selection of ales which I always find a plus point. Overall a very pleasant place to eat and drink.

The food is amazing. My wife and I go regularly. The service could be better though. Drinks usually take a while to arrive so make sure to order in advance! Highly recommend the tempura seafood and the steak and kidney pudding.

Enjoyed an early valentine's meal out in one of the Millstone's dining rooms. The food was delicious and the staff were attentive. We'll return again.

Always great food and a lovely environment. Service was lacking a little. We struggled to get the bill and had to go to the till on the way out after 4 failed attempts. Doesn't detract from the place, hence 4 stars.
