We had our run club Christmas party here last night. It was a fantastic atmosphere, even though England lost the football 🙄The pub was busy and bustling. There was a band on which added to the atmosphere and even though the bar was packed service was very quick. The staff were accommodating and friendly and the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. All topped off by some lovely food, gin and wine 🍷

Rude grumpy staff. Constantly rolling eyes at you or ignoring you. Manager did step in and was helpful. But she was the only one who was polite and helpful.

A lovely pub/restaurant/hotel with traditional cosy beams mixed with a vibrant modern atmosphere. Top venue.

We were absolutely delighted with the incredibly efficient service that we received last week! Beverly was great in organising the function room for us to hold a meeting, and everyone enjoyed the supper afterwards in the restaurant which was excellent. Maddy really looked after us, and did an efficient job in serving the food so all 16 of us ate at the same time. I have visited a number of times for supper and have found all the staff very friendly and helpful! Thank you very much, we will be back soon!

Lovely little find we had late Sunday lunch I myself had the burger couldn’t fault it and my husband had the Pan fried Hake which he said was delicious staff were also very friendly shall definitely return.

Booked late via messenger on Saturday and received near instant confirmation for Sunday Roast. 5 of us had excellent meals, great services from some really nice staff. General Manager is hands on, proactive and clearly very proud of the service, and the kitchen staff do the venue proud. The staff who waited the tables were extremely professional and attentive. Will certainly be going again and highly recommend it. Two of our party have also stayed there and raved about their stay just before Covid lockdown.

We came here for my birthday and everything was perfect. We sat outside, which was lovely, we had to go in to order, the drinks came out very quickly, the food soon followed. The food was great, and the cocktails and deserts were to die for! All the waitresses were so friendly and accommodating. We will be returning!

Recently spent 3 nights at the White Lion with my daughter and I can without a doubt say we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was a super size for the two of us and lovely and clean. The staff were superb and so very accommodating, couldn't do enough for us. Despite having to pack my own Yorkshire tea, I will most definitely come and stay again! Thank you xx.

Great atmosphere friendly bar staff, great wine, cosy fire makes you feel relaxed.

Regardless of what I go in for, girly drink, cocktails, catch up with friends or family lunch the service and food is always top quality! no matter how busy they are the staff here have an efficiency and sense of urgency that you don't see often in pubs and bars anymore whilst always remaining friendly and professional!

Two great nights here, food and room were good and the staff were great, will definitely be back 🍻

We recently held our event here in the function room 💗 it was wonderful. Decorations look very Christmassy and pretty. Staff are super friendly and helpful all day.
To top it off they provided some delicious pizzas and salad too, what’s not to love ❤️ Thanks so much for being fabulous 🥳 x.

We have just eaten at this place, they were short staffed but still very polite and helpful. Our food was delayed reaching our table because of the staffing pressures but it was lovely! We had our two dogs with us and were welcome to sit in the front on the premises but again the staff were welcoming and brought them water, doggie treats and a little hug. Great place :-)

Went here for a meal with my Wife yesterday whilst visiting family in the area. Food was superb, the fillet steak especially was cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and service was great. Made even better with the savings we made with Eat out to Help out. Would definitely recommend based on my experience yesterday.

Disgusting service. Friend never got his meal. Feel really embarrassed as I suggested eating in the restaurant. Trust me I will never go there again!

This place got everything wrong, sadly. Had been before when it had been great — not so this time. Messed up our food order big time and ruined our meal. The senior staff tried to make amends (hence the generous two stars) but the afternoon's outing was spoilt for us. Hopefully a glitch.

Always good. Pizzas are the best, just got back from Sorrento your pizzas can hold their own.

Best Pub/Hotel in town. Great selection of drinks in the bar, food is good from light bites to full meals. Rooms were very warm, problem with such an old building I guess. The free breakfast was a pretty limited buffet, so you'll likely be tempted to order from the menu.

Nice pub on the high street. Food is good and a reasonable price. Staff were pleasant and let us know there was a delay on food before we even took a menu. Portions were a decent size and the beers were well kept. There's quite a bit of choice in Tenterden, but I think this was justfiably busy.

Very pleasant pub, restuarant, hotel located in the main street. Small car park at rear, some parking on street if are lucky! Very nice period atmosphere inside and a speciality seems to be pizza from a wood fired oven, which looked delicious. Very pleasant forecourt with ample outdoor seating, ideal on hot days. Very fair prices and they stock 2 types of none alcoholic beer, so maximum points to them!

My partner booked to stay for 1 night as visiting the local big cat sanctuary. We were checked in by a member of staff who then told us there was a live band on tonight is this ok!. For most it would be great however we booked family suite with a cot! Plus it was on 2nd floor. My partner had emailed a few days before yet none of this was mentioned. I overlooked this as it was set up as a popular pub with rooms to stay in a popular area. This could not be further from the fact as the room (once we lugged our 6 month old up to flights of stairs) was faultless and I would defy anyone who would be disappointed. The bathroom was well praportioned and in very good condition, the room was a very good size and equipped with a couple of armchairs and a sofa, large TV dressing table coffee table and still lots of space. The condition was immaculate for a period property which is no mean feat The bed was large and comfort was great with nice good quality bed linen. The biggest disappointment was the reastraunt and not for it's food standard as I was not able to even try it! Yes I was told when I came down that it was fully reserved and no room for us unless we went into the bar. Again perhaps not to big a deal but with a live band on in bar and lots of people enjoying the beers and pimms and fully enjoying the fabulous live band provided, there we stood with a 5 month old baby! Need I say more.

Very poor service, had to remind them that we had ordered an hour before. We only had the Sunday dinner so should have been ready quickly, being as it was Sunday. All so the beef was tough. There was no remorse.

We were visiting Tenterden whilst on holiday and thought The White Lion looked inviting and we were not dissapointed we had lunch of chicken and mushroom pasta which highly recommend. Lovely warm welcoming pub nice atmosphere and reasonable prices definitely gets thumbs up from us, we will visit again.

A lovely traditional pub — with some stylish & contemporary touches to the decor. The team were welcoming, accommodating & friendly. We stayed over as we were visiting Chapel Down. Our front facing room was bright & comfortable (the bed seemed a bit smaller than king size though & mattress was a bit too firm for me). No noise despite facing on to the high street. Upon our return in the late afternoon we had drinks then dinner. The food was good & tasty — highly recommend the pizzas! The service was great. Breakfast was enjoyable too. I’d happily stay here again on our return visit to Chapel Down!

£8.20 for a pint of larger and a pint of bitter shandy. Small bar area. More chic than authentic beer selection. Didn't try the food. Good that it's got a car park.

Great if your a tourist, but expensive for a room upstairs! Prices start from £95.00 mixed environment in the pub, good food, best pizza in Tenterden as they have a specialised stone bake oven. Restaurant is separate to bar so quiet… Pub can be a bit noisy, but OK. Give the bar a miss Fri and Sat night if your a family.

Nice room, good food, staff very friendly and helpful. Room very well equipped, bathroom for our room bit small but sufficient. Lovely towels and bathrobes. Had live music playing till 11.30 which could be heard in room but we knew this beforehand, not a problem for us.

Good food with good service. Had a work experience person cooking our food so I was a bit slow but you gotta start somewhere!

Great pizzas from a dedicated oven; makes all the difference when you want something more substantial than nuts and crisps but don't want a full blown meal. Always a good selection of beers available and the style and ambiance of the bar area is fantastic. Great pub.

Very nice old pub. The food is very nice and they also have a pizza oven so you can order a take away or alternatively eat on the pub. It can get very crowded, but the atmosphere is very nice.

This is the second time we have eaten here in the last few months, both times lovely atmosphere, charming staff, good service and really good food. The home-made sourdough pizzas are delicious, the vegetarian choice is good, and the wine superb.

Had Sunday Dinner, was great probably best I have had. Very nice staff. Slightly pricey but worth it.

Excellent service for my grandsons birthday party. We were in a separate room, well decorated and very well looked after. Food arrived promptly and was hot and tasty. We had pre ordered and every meal was perfect. Would certainly recommend this pub.

Pre-book the function room for a Group meal for 20ppl, great food and helpful staff.

The food is great with lots of flavour and a wide range of choices. The service was great and the food came quickly. However, the parking wasn't great.

Wonderful atmosphere, AMAZING food (the steak and chunky chips were 10/10) and ultra frriendly and professional staff. There was a big group of us (7) and the service was second to none.

Friday Aug 25 warm evening and Very busy outside since 7.30. Band on from 9. Marston the owners need to decorate as outside looking very worn. Good beer and served promptly which is a pleasant surprise tonight.

Excellent service and customer care. At busy periods there can be a wait on food but this is normal for a busy restaurant. Overall, my preference is over the bar and snack food than the full dining experience.

We visited in July with 6 adults and 2 children. We waited 30 minutes for 2 sharing boards which was good despite the wait. We then waited a further hour for the mains and when it did arrive it was dry, lacked flavour and very basic. The staff were friendly enough and the pub was lovely despite everything else.

Seriously. This place is amazing. I came in for a bite to eat not knowing the place. I'd just come from a lovely day out with my family at nearby railway station and museum. We hadn't booked ahead but regardless they found us a table and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The head waiter was a brilliant host. I ordered a starter but when I received the wrong one they were very kind and took it off the bill. The food and drinks were to die for and I'm looking for any opportunity to visit the area just to eat there again. I cannot stress how much you should eat here. By far the best restaurant/bar this side of the Thames.

Went for afterwork pizza and had a lovèly time — would highly recommend.

I have stayed in many hotels in the past, and this has got to be one of my favourite ones. I knew I was in for a winner when I first entered my bathroom, I have never seen toilet paper with such thickness to it before in a hotel room! The room I was given was very spacious, had plenty of free plug sockets and the Wi-Fi was reliable. The room was exceptionally clean, the bed was perfect. Food wise, I had a one of their home made pizzas. I was impressed. The price was reasonable and it tasted great Staff were very present and helping, even though they had many people in the restaurant area, there was always someone at the bar. When it got busy, more members of staff started helping out at the bar. This meant drinks were always fast! Could not fault anything about this place. Thank you.

We went to the White Lion to celebrate my Grandads birthday (party of 15), and enjoyed the whole experience. Even though they were clearly under staffed at the time due to a wedding event happening that day, the 2 waiters we were served by had a smile on their face the whole time and seemed happy and welcoming. We had pre-ordered our meals in advance due to there being so many of us and once the whole party had arrived our food was quickly put in front of us. I had the roast beef and loved every bite. The only downside I could say for my meal was that there was little meat, however it was filling none the less. The desserts were huge and we were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Would definitely recommend and eat there again.

Great family friendly pub, had a excellent Monday offer on stone baked pizza and a drink, saving about £5 on each deal. Kids food was excellent size (just mind the pepperoni on the pizza it's spicy) weekends and holidays you will need to book if you want to eat in the restaurant.

Such a lovey Hotel and Pub. Great food, excellent service. The Manager Martin was so lovely and helpful. He really did go the extra mile to make our stay fantastic.
