Review of Best Western Premier Dover Marina Hotel & Spa 4*

Went for the worst meal here ever last night! Not where I would have picked personally as they don’t have a menu for vegans and 3 of the 10 of us were vegan but we had phoned in advance and been ensured that they could cater for us. The option offered for starter for those with dietary requirements was sautéed mushrooms so 2 of us ordered this after checking twice that it was suitable for our dietary needs. The mains offered was stuffed pepper or “Thai chicken curry”. Doubting the suitably of a Thai chicken curry, opted for the pepper. When the mushrooms came out, along with everyone else’s gourmet looking meals, it did look very nice but appeared to have cream in. I questioned this with the waiter and he went to ask the chef, he came back and advised that there was “just a little bit of cream in”. To be honest if there were not 10 of us there, my husband and I would have walked out the restaurant at that point. Not only have we been served something that we have been lied to about the ingredients, as vegan beliefs clearly weren’t taken seriously, (disgusting and I’m pretty sure illegal too? ) but the two of us given this are lactose intolerant and it would have made us very poorly! Not what needed when pregnant and unwell anyway. We were then bought, in replacement 4 breaded button mushrooms with some salad leaves, clearly frozen and fried and a fraction of the quality and standard of everyone else’s food. The stuffed pepper meal was also tiny and mediocre at best. Couldn’t wait to leave and never return! If you have any dietary requirements that you trust restaurants to cater for then do not go here!
