We had a great time at the halloween quiz night, the staff were all very pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Friendly staff, most weekends theres a band or tribute acts on which is free to watch. Not used hotel yet but have booked a room.

We booked a superior room. Was disappointed. On arriving, notice a caster came off one of the chairs, not up to health and safety standards.
Also noticed toilet seat sifted to one side when reaching for toilet paper.
These were both rectified but the cleaner should have picked up on these when doing the room. We noticed a little later in the day that there were 2 handles missing from the dressing table with the tea on. We then noticed empty tea bag wrappers at the back on the unit where you make tea. My other discover that the fan had a dodgy plug on it. If that wasn't enough, I didn't sleep at all. Could hear music from the bar and people in the garden and car park laughing till gone 12.
We were in the Simpson Suite stay on 7/9/19 for one night, couldn't believe how many stairs there was to climb.
We expected higher standards then this for this type of room. We wasn't sure that the room had been cleaned, as the table was sticky and it looked like the carpet hadn't been hovered.
Very disappointed on our return visit.

Great food, atmosphere and service. Excellent pub for sure. Definitely a revisit soon.

I had a brilliant birthday get together at the raven last week. The landlady had a 15 seat table reserved for me and it was such a friendly atmosphere there.
I even had CAKE!

Very comfortable place, nice, with attentive and friendly staff. The food is good, nice and affordable. They have Wi-Fi, but few plugs. They have a restaurant area, bar and terrace. Besides, it's a hostel.

A very cosy and nice place. The staff is very attentive and the food is good. Reasonable price. They have free Wi-Fi but not enough power sockets. They have a restaurant, bar and open area, even a hostel!

Fairly nice pub (that's the only bit we used). Service was very good, staff really helpful and friendly. Food was let down though, seemed liked microwaved mass produced food that you could get in any pub chain. Shame as it could be so much better really.

Basic but okay, breakfast good, though the poached eggs in the eggs benedict weren't runny. Amazing pastries.

Great little hotel stayed there Monday 23july just off the motorway very friendly staff and nice clean and tidy bedroom and best of all excellent evening meal and breakfast excellent value for money. Would highly recommend.

Awful, spent a night above a banging disco with two young kids. Not able to change rooms. Breakfast a bit thewart. But staff friendly and helpful. Rooms very dated, never again.

Food was nice. Fairly reasonable in prices. Not much of a beer garden though as it's right in the main road. Like the fact they have board games available so after a few drinks, or if you don't like your company you have something to entertain you :-)

Had a fantastic weekend at The Raven with my husband and dog. Clean comfortable room. Diane and her staff put on a full day of wonderful entertainment for the royal wedding, FA cup and Ed Sheeran Tribute. Wonderful atmosphere and the pub was decorated to suit the occasion. Looking forward to coming back again. Highly recommend The Raven. Dog treats on the bar are a great touch.

First impressions of the hotel… superb, huge car park with plenty of parking, even for vans, you are not dissapointed when you walk into reception either, fantastic staff, very friendly and helpful. Rooms are lovely, well kept, well maintained and plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe too (a must for the ladies) breakfast is both continental and full English, although they do advertise 2 hash browns on the menu, you only get one.

Friendly staff, good classic pub food too. And inexpensive. Recommended.

Always pleasant, good for a quick drink or a light meal. The staff are always friendly and there's always lots of space even during the busy lunch times. The outdoors seating is spacious and overall prices are good. There is a large car park out the back but this is pay and display to discourage parking here while shopping along the hook high street.

Breakfast hit and miss. Bar food really amazing… far better than you'd expect. Otherwise great little place.

The place is OK, nothing special but fairly clean and alright for a night or two. The breakfast was a little underwhelming. They have a selection of muffins, cereal, yogurt etc to choose from and a cooked breakfast as well. I ordered the waffles and they were 2 'microwaved' discs served with a tiny amount of fruit compote. The free Wi-Fi in the rooms was terrible. There was a router directly outside our room and we still only just managed to get 1 bar of signal so we just used our 4G data.

Really nice venue went here as a retirement do. The staff were nice and food was buffet style which was really good and tasty.

Great little hotel basic room's but clean tidy and looked after, friendly staff very polite and great food in the public bar. If your looking for a couple of nights stay this place is recommended but you will need a car to travel or you can use the nearby train into London and nearby places as this hotel in Hook is a nice quiet little place.

Really helpful staff. Fantastic, clean, big, comfortable bed offering a great nice sleep. Dated facilities, but perfectly good for the business traveler.

Staff were lovely, if you had any kind of request the Manager would try sort it out if she could, nice friendly atmosphere in the bar and restaurant where they sell great food. The room we stayed in was the family room, personally I think the decor is dated now, beds were comfortable. The lighting in the room was to dim and the bathroom light was too far away from the bathroom mostly when your trying to find it in the dark. All in All quite a 3 nights pleasant stay. Xxx.

Dated furniture and fittings. Huge crack in the sink, patched up tiles with mouldy grout and no plug for the bath. Some sort of fridge or air con unit which, every 15 minutes made a vibrating hum in my room and walls so thin I could hear a simple conversation clearly in the room next door. Food and service left a lot to be desired too. Asked for a medium rare steak which came out well done and I then had to ask for a steak knife, not exactly rocket science is it? £95 for the room and £15 for the steak! Seriously not impressed and would recommend you avoid.

Stayed here overnight on way back from camping trip. Room was standard with bath which was appreciated. Overwarm room and could do with a luggage rack to put my suitcase. Breakfast good and plenty of choice. Staff pleasant. Overall the place could do with some refurbishment and tender loving care particularly the bar and restuarant area very tidy and beginning to look very delapidated.

Good location next to Hook train station but horrifically overpriced, reception was unmanned (not that surprising given the number of rooms), room was unbelievably small but nothing compared to the ridiculously small bathroom. The bathroom sink was cracked and looked like it had been glued back together, the shower leaked and the toilet took about 20 minutes to refill after flushing. You could accept this for one night for an acceptable price but not for what they charged. There was a vending machine in reception that was supposed to take notes but was broken so couldn't even get water. Did manage to get some from the bar. The bar did good priced basic bar food and the breakfast was good value but nothing to write home about. Some of the wait staff were very friendly, welcoming and good humoured and would probably have been the one highlight to the stay. Overall very rundown and very, very, overpriced. Surprising too given part of a national chain. A disappointment all round (apart from the breakfast staff)

The rooms were clean and tidy but a little dated. The bar and restaurant were good with some very nice food and some interesting dishes as well as the standard pub meals. Staff were excellent.

I have never had a experience in my life very dirty place to stay breakfast was disgusting the hash browns were mouldy and the pub floor was dirty from the night before our room was dirty full of dust the bathroom was horrible shower head full of limescale and the toilet didn't flush this place needs a good clean a upgrade and redecorating I can say I will not be staying their again.

The most awful dining experience of my life. The place looks grubby and run down. The staff are incompetent and what was supposed to be a birthday celebration resulted in one of the birthday people not having a meal at all but choosing to not bother after waiting 20 minutes after everyone else had there's because they hadn't made it and when the staff were quizzed they ignored us and didn't deal with it at all. It was farcical and embarrassing especially as we are all local residents and I myself used to head one of the departments when I worked there. The place has gone to the dogs and we won't be bothering again.

The Wedding Reception was a perfect end to a special day for my Son and his lovely new Wife, Alan and Lou. The food was tasty and moreish, the Ale at the bar was one of my Favourites "Old Speckled Hen" (other beers are available). Wedding Breakfast Room was looking stunning. All was spot on, but now I must go down a little bit. We stayed the night. The room was comfortable and well presented. Sad to say it let its self down a wee bit. We inherited the previous guests rubbish in the bin in the Bathroom and there was quite a strong smell of stale urine also in the Bathroom. All in all, I would stay there again (in a different room). As they say on the School Report. Well done but you must try harder. All in all a pleasant weekend.
