Room was a good size but needs updating — shower leaked bath taps dripped and wallpaper needs replacing. Breakfast was ok but hot food was only lukewarm. Disco music booming until 1 am.

Very run down, everywhere you look. Cobwebs in our room and in dinning room. Every sheet of wallpaper in our room was peeling. Door lock on our room was broken. We had dirty sheets (room had just been cleaned when we arrived). Rubbish from previous room occupant under the furniture. Some desk staff were rude and unhelpful. Room service order was badly incorrect. And food arrived cold. Breakfast plates were all dirty. Waitress watched me go through the stack saying they were dirty and made no effort to take them back to the kitchen. Had to work through the stack to find a clean one. Toilets by reception were filthy. Sanitary wear on the floor. One was blocked. Swimming pool heating was broken. Gym had smashed windows held together with gaffer tape. Damp showing through roof of gym. Shower in ladies changing room broken. The best staff gave average customer service. I want to say something positive, so I will say that the roof didn't leak. Wait, no I've thought of something positive, the room had black out curtains, that almost covered the whole window. In summary: I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me.

I have stayed at much better hotels for half the price. Room was tired and in poor repair. The tiling in the bathroom looked like it had been done with a shovel and in placed had black mould. Breakfast was awful. First day the sausages were raw onside and burnt outside the next day they were off. All of the food was cold. The bar prices were extortionate. My advice is to stay away from this place.

Nice service, Superb staff, we will back again soon, we were at afternoon tea with day pass for spa and pool (a shame that the sauna was not ready… we will try it after the refurbishment) Really friendly and welcome staff and good quality.

We booked the Balmoral Suite at the Mercure Bewdley for our wedding celebration with 60 guests attending. The hotel is licenced for Civil Marriages etc. The events team staff were great, guiding us expertly through all the planning process and putting us in touch with everyone from florist to DJ, and effectively helping us put together the wedding package we wanted. On the day itself the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, discreetly checking that our expectations were being met and ensuring that our guests were made welcome. Nearly all our guests commented favourably on the layout and decorations placed in the Balmoral Suite. Along with all our guests, we were very satisfied with the food from the hot fork buffet menu we had selected. Our room was well equipped and had a four-poster bed. We did however consider that the lighting was a little dim. The morning after the wedding, we found the buffet breakfast to be excellent and plentiful. We would recommend the Mercure at Bradley to anyone planning a wedding.

Hotel is nice, but we got a bit stung by the breakfast. Our room didn't include breakfast, fair enough, but we decided to eat there anyhow. It was OK, a simple low quality fry-up, pick your fried egg from the hot plate where they have been sitting for an hour, kind of thing. The price was not mentioned until checkout where they hit us for £32 for the 2 of us, it is a completely unreasonable price for the offering, and no-one in their right mind would freely pay that much if the price was clear. It felt like a con trick and left a very bitter taste in the mouth. I have marked down the hotel for this Ryan-Air esque behaviour, it is simply tricking and price gouging their customers which is no sensible way to run a business. Shame on them. Pretty pointless if you ask me, because I for one will avoid them forever more.

Quiet, peaceful location on the edge of Bewdley, quite close to the safari park if you're visiting there. Rooms ok, although could use freshening up as they seem a little 'tired' in their demeanour. Had ants busy doing their thing on the floor which was a little annoying. Staff very helpful, though, in getting their food source removed which meant they disappeared of their own volition soon enough. Restaurant nice enough, good food if a little pricey. Place equipped with a leisure centre (gym, pool, etc) although I didn't use it. The lady on reception messed up my bill on check out, trying to charge me someone else's bar bill on top of my own which was annoying, as she was somewhat unapologetic about the matter. A general tired, dated feel throughout the place, time for a refurb soon, maybe?

Great venue. Wonderful venue. Looking forward to Toffs coming back in the next few months.

This is nice hotel, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and cheerful but are grossly overworked due to numbers. Dinner was OK but breakfast an absolute disaster. Due to the lack of staff breakfast was was a hit and miss affair. The replenishment of the buffet took ages and you couldn't have want you wanted to eat. The young girls worked very hard to keep things going but they couldn't handle our party. The management were noticed by their absence. Our party was 50 strong but they were not prepared for us.

Great staff and clean rooms but the rooms are dated, particularly the bathroom where the extractor made annoying noises and the toilet cistern took an age to refill… loudly. My curtains were torn and coming away from the rails and the wardrobe was worn but fictional. The tortillas from the room service menu were lovely with shredded beef chilli. The bed was comfy and clean. There was a good TV and nice addition of a coffee machine.

Good value, helpful staff, walking distance from Bewdley.

A really good hotel. It has a gym and pool you can use while staying. It also has a nice car and restaurant.

Leisure facility offers a wide vatiety of classes and a 25m pool with lanes for faster swimmers making it safer for more leisurely swimmers elsewhere in the pool.

Planning our wedding at the Mercure. So far they've been brilliant. Can't fault them! We'll see how it goes on the day I suppose…

I have stayed at this hotel a few times but was very disappointed on a visit last week. Following the recent bad weather I did expect there to be snow on the sides of hotel entrance and car park, unfortunately the car park was like an ice rink and the walk to reception was treacherous. There appeared to be some sort of plastic covering laid out at bottom of steps and on a section of car park however this did not help when you had to reach that point from the cars! As there appeared to be no designated smoking area the top of the steps that lead to reception and a small crowd of smokers had gathered which we had to walk through, not nice when you are a non smoker. We went into the bar where there were a few customers but no staff, after waiting for 10 mins we sat down and a member of staff appeared we ordered a coffee and a Liqueur coffee we waited for 15 minutes as the staff member did not know how to make this and had to get a colleague out of the restaurant to assist. There was a Christmas party going on so there was music as expected but when it was still booming out at midnight we contacted reception to be told it would be over in half an hour, after another call to reception at 1 it finally stopped. This hotel is in a lovely spot but I felt very let down on this visit and will prob not use it again, as it was a stop over for business I will not be using it again.

Had a table of 10 for Sunday lunch at The Mecure today, food was excellent and waiting staff very friendly and helpful. Well done keeping all 10 of us happy.

Great value for a family room. We had a slight problem with our allocated room but this was resolved quickly and amicably. The service and food at the function we were attending was first rate especially as it was on the evening of the heavy snow of the year and the hotel was short staffed.

Stayed numerous times. Great hotel. On site gym and swimming pool with towels provided. Lovely staff. Recommend the fish and chips.

The room I had was unclean. Cups were dirty. The decor was poor. There was a lovely view to the rear. The bed was good. Not an exceptional place. I was expecting better. Staff were polite. I did complain.

The room was a bit too out of the way. Up sooo many stairs. But the event we went to was perfect.

Great venue for a wedding, site was well managed and kept clean, some exterior maintenance issues needed and bar prices were a little pricey for a wedding.

Just got married here. Staff were brilliant the night was perfect! food was amazing on the night the breakfast and Sunday lunch all so perfect!

We got married at the Balmoral suite last month. The whole planning process went well with our coordinator Kendal who we've sent all the details to. Wedding day came and she was nowhere to be found, instead we were greeted by a gentleman called Chris who was the operations manager. Before the guests walked in the room, me and my husband decided to check this before letting everyone in. There we found that the table plan we have sent to Kendal the week before wasn't handed over to Chris or any staff, the instructions on tables for the evening guests wasn't done, the dance floor wasn't lit, when we've asked Chris about this he said 'I'm not sure, your other supplier delivered this earlier dirty and so we had to clean it up and there was no wire with it'. My Husband who is a maintenance engineer had a look at the dance floor and told Chris he was actually stepping on the wire and that he needed to plug it in to work! Food we're served, quite a few guests didn't make it on the day so we assumed there will be spare left but was then told by our guests that food ran out? During consultation we were asked to think of a cocktail name as we were given this complimentary and be sold to our guests but didn't see any of this. The whole evening wasn't coordinated or introduced properly… no one announced that we were due to have our first dance or speeches… we had to work this all out and guests just had to sit there puzzled on what we're doing next.

My family and I have just spent two nights at the Mercure Bewdley and we had a great time. The staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble and the breakfast was brilliant, loads of choice. There is a pool and tennis courts on site, which we used and it is about 2 minutes drive from the West Midlands Safari Park. The only negative is that the rooms could do with a bit of a revamp but all in all a great experience.

The hotel is supposed to be 4 stars, 3 would be a better rating. The room was very small with a small bathroom which is probably OK for one person for one night but with nowhere to leave your toiletries it would become frustrating for more than a couple of nights. There is no seating in the room, assuming this hotel is popular with people on business, you need to sit on the edge of the bed to work at the desk. Room was in need of some decorating and cleaning and the lighting was a bit all or nothing. We were asked to move our car as there was a school prom due to arrive at the hotel. This made the rest of the hotel effectively out of bounds for the night. Would have been beneficial if we were informed of this on booking as we would have not come here. Location is fine for what we wanted but we wouldn't stay there again. It's a hotel that doesn't really seem to appreciate the industry it is in, seemed to be no thought about what a hotel room should do!

Friendly staff, decent if not spectacular food, good peaceful setting. Rooms a bit tired some lamps not working. Very nice big comfy bed. Post visit had feedback from the manager that maintenance has now been carried out on this room to fix the lights.

Hotel was quite scruffy inside. Room 25 had wall paper peeling off the ceiling. Room 9 had not been cleaned properly as there was used mens underwear in the bedside cabinet. The downstairs social area (cellar) was very tired looking. Drinks were hideously expensive. A pint of Boddingtons and a single vodka and diet Pepsi was £9.60?! The beer tasted like chemicals and the vodka and coke was only 3/4 full.

Nice hotel, comfortable beds. Food is fairly standard for a hotel as is the bar. It's location close to Bewdley is great, lots of good pubs by the river.

The attention to detail is not here with this hotel, it's fantastic location to the safari Park (only 5 min drive). The rooms are not clean, the beer lines are clearly a last option to be cleaned and everything is tired and dated. If staying make sure you get the upgrade to a privilege room. They're semi respectable. For the price paid I wish I drove a little longer to the safari and had a better room.

Should of done this at the time. We got married on 19th September and had a fantastic day. The food was amazing, the service incredible and the rooms immaculate. After our previous venue cancelled with just 8 weeks notice The Mercure gave a superb personal service to accommodate two very stressed grooms!

Stayed many times over the years and it's time some capital was spent on a good refurbishment.

Didn't stay at the hotel; I was just in the bar as part of a training course. Staff were friendly and bar area was clean.

Fabulous staff. Service really was excellent. Food was great, especially the breakfast buffet. Room was a little tired but the bed was perfect as was the shower. Strongly recommend.

Went there for a one night stay. We had Room 2. Two adults. Hotel is beautiful & staff are top class. Can't say on the food as we both had to leave around 7 am for work but we were delighted with the few hours we spent there. Definitely a 5 Star experience!

Just looking very tired. Needs to be refurbished. Paper peeling, very old carpets.
