Review of Genting Hotel at Resorts World Birmingham 4*

Wanted to treat myself so booked the Winter Warmer package for my friend and I. Opted for a superior twin room at a cost of £250. Arrived at 2pm, check in was 3pm but receptionist said room was ready. Room was on the forth floor. Nice, clean modern room, with views of the lake from the window. There was a kettle, Nespresso machine and complimentary mini bar, supplied with hot chocolate, tea, coffee capsules, premixed alcoholic drinks, water, crisps and chocolate. Had a look around Resorts World small but nice shopping centre. Went back to room to change for dinner (and make full use of the minibar! ). Went to the Sky bar and restaurant on the top floor of the hotel and was given a complimentary glass of prosecco. Feeling a bit peckish decided on dinner in a restaurant in the shopping centre called Las Iguanas. Opted for a bread board and a Brazilian chicken dish which was a bit bland but OK. Afterwards went to the World bar for a few gin cocktails, very nice and reasonably priced. Retired to the hotel room for the night, beds were very comfortable but small. In the morning went downstairs to the Robata restaurant for a buffet style breakfast. Sat by the window overlooking the lake. On the whole breakfast was good, although black pudding was rubbery and poached eggs requested, very vinegary. There was a good selection of fresh fruit. After breakfast we checked out and went up to Santai Spa, where we had treatments booked. I had a Heaven facial and my friend had a back massage, the therapists were very professional. We then went to access the spa area. There was a swimming pool, heated loungers, sauna, salt cave and a hot tub outside, overlooking the lake. My only complaint was the hot tub was not hot enough, although it was a very cold day. In the afternoon we were given a Malaysian afternoon tea, which consisted of a chicken skewer, a meat filled dumpling and a variety of small and appetizing cakes and pastries. All in all a very good experience.
