Lovely hotel with wonderful views and brilliant service, very polite staff😄

We have just had our Xmas party at this hotel amazing food and fabulous disco such a fabulous night xxx.

Quiet rooms, clean room, bed and bathroom. Bed was very comfortable, very nice room. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Great staff, very friendly and welcoming. Hotel is in great location too. Will definitely come back, hopefully many times.

We recently had a staff party at the Royal Beacon and the whole experience was fantastic! From start to finish Hannah and the team looked after us. The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble! The space was perfect! Can’t wait for the next event! — with James Rafferty.

The Hotel is Spotless.
The Breakfast is perfect and very hot, served by lovely staff. Our room needed TLC but was spotless.
Only issue we had was parking as only 6 places to parked were reserved. Free parking outside but very hard to get a space.
So close to the beach, Perfect.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding Anniversary and had a meal,. Food is 5* delicious, hot, tasty and executed beautifully. Excellent customer service, staff all friendly nothing to much trouble. Would highly recommend for a couple upto a party of people.

Lovely afternoon tea, great service!

Not a 3 star at all. Sink was broken, shower had mould in it, fixtures and fittings hanging off the wall, room smelt of damp and musky.
Hotel itself was very outdated
Staff were lovely.

Went for a Sunday roast, beef very tasty and melted in your mouth. The veg was cooked to perfection. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We've booked again already.

We have just had another delicious Sunday lunch here, melt in the mouth roast beef, crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud and all the trimmings. For dessert we had The bread and butter pudding, if was perfect. Sunday lunch here always delivers, it’s the best in Exmouth. Well done all the team at RBH.

Great afternoon high tea today lovely food great service and value for money. Reccomend it.

Amazing venue for our dinner dance last night. Great food and fab service nothing too much trouble to look after those with dietary requirements as well. So lucky to have such a great venue local to us.

We have just had our wedding celebration at the Royal Beacon. It was truly wonderful and the hotel staff could not have been more attentive. The food was fantastic our guests all commented on how delicious it all was.

Thank you to the wonderful Amanda for all her help arranging a beautiful afternoon tea for a friend and I this week. Our afternoon was absolutely lovely and the food was amazing. Highly recommend!

We use the RBH every time we come to Exmouth always well looked after. Lovely staff, excellent food.

We had our mothers day lunch up there. The food was wonderful and the bar staff and restaurant hosts were extremely pleasant, like always. I am a big fan and I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

Exmouth is a place to be discovered. Hotel was graciously presented, elevated above the town with fab views. Good clean rooms, fantastic breakfast. Has in house restaurant too with good variety. The town road train gives an all round town ride and runs regularly from outside the hotel door.

Overnight stay at the hotel. Have stayed here previously and as always the staff throughout the hotel are both polite and friendly. Had a delicious breakfast would highly recommended.

Very friendly staff. Room's a nice size and we'll equipped. Breakfast, hot and very well cooked. Probably not for anyone under 30.

Good rooms, lovely views, well placed for town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good restaurant.

We were in the courtyard rooms. The budget rooms. The room was fine. Toiletries and hair dryer supplied. Breakfast was lovely. Loads of choice freshly cooked. Parking can be an issue. If you can book a space do so. We will go back.

Visited for one night. Family of four was speperated into 2 rooms about as far apart as can be (different buildings). Two double beds with one blanket for 4 people, no extra blankets in the cupboards. One room had windows you couldn't open and was disgustingly dusty in the bathroom. Breakfast was pretty good though.

Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast, quiet night, good meals, great views and a touch of class. I have been coming here three years running on business and I would like to come here on holidays. The staff is very helpful.

Enjoyed my time at the Royal Beacon. Only 4 stars because of a couple of minor issues. The staff were friendly, helpful and good humoured. A couple of small house keeping matters arose, but they were dealt with quickly and without fuss. (The fact is they happened at all) The breakfast was substantial with a good range of options. Get there early. The breakfast meats seem to hang around and are much nicer at 8.00 than they are at 9.00. The beds were very firm, but comfortable. Overall, great value for money. I would stay there again.

The hotel was situated perfectly, very accommodating and served a lovely breakfast. But unfortunately our room smelt of body odour. We permanently had to have the windows open. The carpet had a large stain on it and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. Also parking your car is a complete nightmare, having to search the streets for a space is more luck than anything as most spaces are taken by the local residents.

Nice hotel, little worried about water coming through a light fitting in the hallway. Mentioned the issue to the reception and he said they were aware of it and not to worry… I did feel a little fobbed off but beware.

Attended a family get together at the Royal Beacon. The decor and fixings were a little lacking, and the function room we were in seemed bare. However, the food and service were good. We took a double buggy as we had our babies with us. There are steps at the front of the hotel but we were advised there was a lift for guests at the back of the hotel — we found the lift but it couldn't fit the buggy in (the buggy is no wider than a standard wheel chair), to be honest I'd have struggled to fit in it myself and I'm not that much of a fatty. Enjoyed ourselves, but the hotel needs some revamping (I am aware that recent investment means that should be happening soon)

My cousin got married in this very hotel on the 6th of August in 2011. This is truly one of the nicest places to visit in Exmouth when you go by the sea — and then, from the Premier Inn, go up a series of ramping paths, up to the top. My stepfather lived a few minutes away from the Royal Beacon once, up until late 1996/ early 1997. (However, I just recently made a mistake with one of the yes/no questions associated with this place: it does NOT have a convenience store! )

Warm friendly welcome. Nice, clean comfortable room. Our evening meal was delightful and there was plenty of it. Even our dog was made welcome. The reception staff and the barman really couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was equally as good as dinner. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Elegant old hotel which could do with a face lift to restore it's finesse with great views and a good chef.

Excellent food. Lovely staff. Good elevated position overlooking the beach with great views across the river Exe. Heating was not totally effective and there was no Wi-Fi during our three night stay. Room was a good size along with a fair sized ensuite. In need of some renovation. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Nice room. Pleasant surroundings. Excellent breakfast!

I'm not surprised to find this hotel is in administration.
Comfortable courtyard room. Could not be got to without lifts. I was suffering a lot of back pain.
Needed more lighting to apply makeup. Water luke warm. Reception staff helpful.

I asked for Marmite 2 mornings running. Then gave up. On third morning had run out of yogurt.
On 1st morning sat down at a table for 3 because I like to read morning paper. Moved to small table.
Same happened 2nd morning but noticed single men were allowed to sit at larger tables!.
Female waiting staff were friendly, but felt the male waiter was anti single women. Maybe his job was on the line.
They were very keen to clear the table quickly.
On the 3rd morning the ketchup and marmalade were still in the same bowls as the previous day. With butter contaminating the bowl.
I'm not usually over fussy but was not impressed.!

Got there early but the room was ready so we booked in with no problems. After settling in we had complimentary coffee and a bar meal which was very nice. Very good value and a very enjoyable experience.

We have stay just for one night. But we really enjoyed. Good value for money. Room as described very clean, comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Freandly stuff.

Never had a bad meal at this place top chef an excellent front of house stuff. Probably the best roast dinner in the town.

Lovely venue beautifully decorated. Good menus choice and prices. I only dropped 1 star as the service this time was much slower on previous visits but this wouldn't stop me going again.

Lovely helpful staff from the cleaners to the manager. Comfortable room with an estuary view. More breakfast choice than we could eat. Looking forward to staying again.

What a fantastic night at the Murder Mystery night. Amazing food, good company and a fantastic plot … who knew! And this has to be the best view in Exmouth. We will be back. Thanks to all the amazing staff, who had a lot to put up with. Good job. We stayed on for your roast… outstanding. Thanks. Good job.

Good spot, very good Breakfasts, decent Restaurant for evening. In need of a refurb, but Hotel did change hands this year and I am sure this will get addressed. Recommended.

Great hotel been there for many years and hopefully many more to come. The view from the room was fantastic. The room was very clean and tidy when we got there. The breakfast was great and very filling. We will be back next year. What can I say we are back again due to we love the place. Yet again fantastic food and friendly happy staff. The Hotel has not changed since being taken over by another company.

Brilliant hotel Elegant and friendly. Lovely rooms and bathrooms. Housekeeping was Top Service! This is a hotel to come back to stay again.

Parking was an issue. We requested a parking spot months before, but one was not reserved for us. This was important to us as we had valuables in the car. The hotel did move us to a room where we could over look the car though. The sleep was comfortable, however there was a horrendous noise coming from the boiler (we think! ).

Old world charm exudes from this quirky hotel. Great staff very accommodating and great value for money!

A wonderful position overlooking the sea. Kind and considerate staff, good food, comfortable beds. A very enjoyable stay.

Good bar and nice breakfasts. Views from front of hotel are genuinely beautiful, make sure you get a front room. Room had been cleaned well, but the decorating and carpet show a lot of wear. Well due a refurbishment, then it will be a great seaside hotel again.

Nicely situated. 2 minutes from beach. Lovely views. Friendly staff. Only had breakfast, but freshly cooked. Rooms clean, bathroom dated, (70s peachy pink). Would advise not to get rooms 114, 214 & possibly 314, as right next to lift, & got bit noisy. Overall, for friendliness, price, location & food, 4/5.

The food was good and the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, parking was a nightmare. Customer parking is extremely limited and finding a free space on a street nearby is difficult.

Guest feedback : — Inadequate car park — 5 spaces for 50+ rooms — No working lift throughout 6 day stay — Threadbare carpet on stairs — No info pack provided, not even for meal times — Water hammer with cistern flush — Inadequate shower — Bathroom needs makeover for mould — Ants on breakfast table — Staff mostly unfriendly — Chamber maids need lessons in bed making Requested chat with manager to advise above items only to be told that hotel had been in receivership for over 4 years — says it all. No offer for any compensation so considered very expensive for what was provided. However food was excellent with a good seaview from our room 209. Cannot recommend and would not stay again.

Slightly dated decor and awful Wi-Fi, but the staff were friendly and helpful in general.

Staff are lovely and helpful. Food was the highlight of my visit, everything perfectly cooked.

Had a work meeting in the Bar area. Very pleasant and clean. Friendly staff.

The woman who serves breakfast and seems in charge is also sometimes on reception is the most miserable person ever start your day faced with that is not good, however foods good but hotel very tired.

An exceptionally well maintained sea-side hotel with superb views over the river estuary. All of the staff were friendly and professional. Our stay was most enjoyable and we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We were made to feel very welcome right from the start. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and spacious and we had a wonderful view of the sea and estuary. The quality of the food couldn't be faulted. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We came down as a spur of the moment trip — walked in a few hotels and walked straight back out again but then found the Royal Beacon which looked pleasant enough. Once in, lovely public areas, warm and comfy bar with a good pint of Bass! Staff were so so friendly and made our stay. Advertised as a cliche 'award winning chef' but it really deserved a medal it was so good. Would recommend to anyone and is really the only place for a comfy stay. P. S get a room with a view over the sea. Wow.
