I would highly recommend this lovely place. We stayed for the night and had a very delicious 3 course meal. The flavours were amazing and all the food was perfectly cooked. The cott inn is bigger then you can see, the outside is fully undercover and heated. We had a lovely spot in front of the fire (very cosy) we slept well and had a lovely breakfast in the morning! Nothing was too much trouble for these guys, will definitely be back. We even took a pizza up to our room which was very nice (duck pizza) would order that again 😊

Just had a fabulous lunch! Husband and I shared the prawn cocktail and squid ring starters. Confit duck leg for main for me and seafood chowder for husband. Both absolutely delicious! Service was excellent and the atmosphere lovely. Thank you we will see you soon.

Spent 3 glorious days here, the rooms are beautiful, the food delicious and the staff are amazing! Highly recommend! There is a reason this is the best restaurant in Totnes on Trip Advisor.

We enjoyed a really lovely lunch here this week. The food was amazing, not your typical ‘pub grub’ but beautifully presented tasty food. The staff were so accommodating and couldn’t do enough for you. Such a cosy environment inside the pub too. Will definitely return. So glad to have found this little gem!

Having always wanting to try the Cott’s food. We finally booked a table and had their Camembert wedges starter and Steak main. Probably the Best steak that we’ve had together. Starter was also lush ;) I would definitely recommend and we will be back ASAP :D.

Just had a takeaway from the Cott for my birthday (courtesy of my lovely wife), and it was fantastic. We both had the burger and it was the thickest burger I think I’ve ever seen. Easily as delicious eaten at home as it was when we visited for our anniversary in those far away times when you could still go out! Can not wait to be able to actually go there again. Always had a lovely atmosphere and the food is ridiculously good! The staff have always been amazing also. Seriously cannot rate this place highly enough. 11stars!

Had our second takeaway this evening it was fantastic. The buttermilk chicken burgers are absolutely amazing … lovely relish and fries. The beef burger was also amazing … and my son loved his pizza … fantastic guys really good food and great service.

Absolutely beautiful food our 1st visit but we loved it we didn't want our meals 2 end and the service was great 2 really couldn't fault it I'm hoping we will be back and hopefully in the next few days as we are in Devon for a long weekend.

Recently moved to the area and can't recommend The Cott Inn enough, food is fantastic, wine great, service friendly and everyone so attentive. Very lucky to have this on our doorstep, can't wait for the summer!

We had a lovely meal at the Cott Inn. Food was superb and the staff were really welcoming and friendly, it had a great atmosphere. We have been to many pubs in the area and this is definitely one of the best. Will go back again soon.

This beautiful ancient thatched Devon long house Inn is absolutely a cut above the rest! Stylish and comfortable, with a great blend of modern and traditional garden dining. Teaming with colour, flowers and style. Also includes alongside it's interior kitchen, a modern highly efficient garden kitchen for tapas and culinary events etc Supremely efficient warm and attentive staff. A host with genuine passion for his guests and staff and above all, a wealth of absolutely tantalising and delicious food, above and beyond any expectation you may have. 5 stars are simply not enough.!

The Cott never disappoints. In winter with a roaring fire and a cosy corner or in summer in the sunny garden terrace in all its glory. Great food, decent beer and lovely staff.

This is a top notch restaurant, booking recommended as it is very popular. Rustic feeling indoors in keeping with the thatched room cottage that it is and a fabulous outdoor dining space. The food was excellent and the table service was just as good. It's slightly more expensive but well worth it. You can book rooms and stay here too but that's not something we have done as of yet. Highly recommended.

Built in the 1300's this place has served as an Inn. Gorgeous thatched Devon long house, inglenook fire places, very pleasant accommodation. The food is very good and it's been rated by The Telegraph as in the top 30 pubs in the country. Lovely outside area also. Live music certain nights of the week. No tattoo covered males/females, no loud scumbag behavior, and definitely no orange chavs. Just a lovely pub. Well worth a visit.

We had a really nice meal here, all the food was very good. It was busy on a Friday night and you needed to book. Staff were friendly and prices reasonable. Toilets could do with a refurbishment and/or more regular cleaning. Disabled access not great (narrow and quite steep ramp).

Had an early lunch here sat out in the garden. Lovely food and good service. Unfortunately I was driving so cannot comment on the quality of the beer but everything else was good!

We spent 3 days unable to get out of the house due to weather conditions and booked the Cott Inn for late Sunday Lunch today. We chose the Roast Lamb/Pork and both were flavoursome and tender meats. The selection of vegetables were plentiful and tasty. All in all a great Sunday Roast. Wonderful service from Mark, Anton and team, Great atmosphere and welcoming feel as you enter the building. This all combines the best of English pubs and makes us come back for more, a great welcome and sense of belonging alongside great food and wine. What a fantastic find. From the first phone contact everyone we met was kind and attentive. The food: breakfast and evening meal was beautifully presented and delicious: all local produce. Our room although not big was beautifully appointed with good storage and the bed was very comfortable. On top of it all our dog was made very welcome and the staff could not do enough to make sure that our electric car was charged (they are looking at installing a dedicated car charger). A lovely part of the world. The winter break deal (book direct with the hotel) was fantastic value for money. Thank you Mark and Mel and everyone.

The service is always great here as is the food. But on this last visit, the pasta was so garlicky that I couldn't eat it (I made my husband swap with me! ). I like garlic and don't usually have a problem with it, so I guess I was unlucky this time. It wasn't shown as having garlic in the description and you can expect a bit of garlic with pasta, but it was definitely a lot more garlic than expected! Next time will just ask in advance to be sure! Will return, normally we love the food here!

If you want a cheap meal go somewhere else, if you want a good value for money meal go here! Excellent menu, food is always well prepared and mostly locally sourced, service is excellent without being over attentive. Good wine list and well stocked bar. And, the icing on the cake, beautiful historic surroundings. The Cott is a local institution.

On a Sunday walk myself and 5 others took a punt at getting a table for a Sunday roast here. With sincere apologies they said the were full. We volunteered to sit outside which they were happy with. The menu initially appeared a bit steal but I can tell you it was worth it! Very tasty and well presented food!

Amazing. Beautiful pub, outstanding food and the staff are fast efficient and very friendly. Not often you find a pub that ticks every box on every visit. We drive an hour to get there as often as we can. Think that says it all.

We visited this place last year and didn't think much of it; Sunday dinner was average along with the service (slow). We chalked it down as probably an off day as it had good reviews. This year, we visited again (forgetting we had been before). Exactly the same, poor service (we waited almost an hour for food and had to remind them that we had been told the table was only available until 19:45 and we had a taxi booked). The food was once again very average; a memorable Sunday dinner for all the wrong reasons. The beer was better this year, but other than that, a bit of a let down unfortunately.

Very friendly and courteous staff, excellent food and a brand new seating area above the hotel out of the front. Perfect venue for drinks or a bite to eat with your mates! A good menu with specials that vary and there's always a couple of decent vegetarian options. Not a lot of parking out front if it's busy.

Very well priced for the portion size and for the outstanding variety of food. There really is something for everyone here. If the menu isn't big enough for you, there is a chalkboard fill of Specials too!

This old English Pub and Hotel, has got to be one of the most beautiful Old English restaurants and Inns in the British Isles! The Service is impeccable, the food is delicious and well priced for the size of the meals, and the facilities at the venue are fantastic, including the new and constantly improved outside garden area and food servery deck. If you are looking for somewhere nice to stay the rooms are all modern and exceptionally clean. This beautiful old coaching inn with its thatched roof has been looking after customers since 1325, now that's history. You wont find a better host than Mr Mark Annear the current landlord.

Went there for Sunday lunch with a group of 8. Location is excellent with ample parking. Food was amazing, Sunday roast with trimmings all reasonably priced. Service is also worth a mention as they were very polite and nothing was to much trouble.

Bustling with a lively atmosphere, as we entered we were welcomed by very friendly bar staff. At the weekends you're shown to your table by a front of house lady, which is a good idea because the tables are often booked out. The food was absolutely fantastic. A good combination of being hearty and comforting, but with very modern twist: elegant and beautiful presentation and packed full of flavour. Wine list and drinks are top rated.

If you are looking for the longest thatched cottage in England, a pint of local beer or cider and bags of atmosphere in a village setting, then here you are. There is parking for cars and places to sit when the weather is good. Food served every day.

Really good food, I'm a vegetarian and so often disappointed by the standard of cooking for vegetarians and have come to expect rather second rate food in pubs generally while my partner who isn't vegi will have a choice of good cuisine. The vegi option here was superb, service was very good and friendly from all the staff. Vegi or not if your in the area well worth a visit.

A pub that over many years has had its ups and downs but is on the up at the moment! Good food and a solid place to take your parents out and be sure you'll get good grub.

We were very impressed with our visit to the Cott from start to finish. We were greeted on arrival with a friendly welcome (including our little dog) and our drinks were brought to our table, which seldom happens in a pub. The meal was excellent, amazing starters, delicious fish and chips with a difference and a gorgeous dessert of apple, ginger, sticky toffee pudding and ginger ice cream — to die for! Good choice of beers and wines too. Looking forward to our next visit.
