This is a lovely, well kept hostel. Immaculately clean, well looked after. Fantastic hosts; the right balance between great hospitality but also giving you your privacy and own space.
Everything you need is in place and if you need anything seeing to they're right on it for you. Gave us plenty of ideas for other places to go and how to get there.
Rooms perfect for our stay and a great shower makes a world of difference.
Great location too. We will definitely visit again.

Clean and crisp contemporary decor, spacious kitchen, superb bike storage facilities, close to Penrith town centre, a real gem of a hostel.

Everything about this place to stay is clean and welcoming. The hostel offers the usually expected bunk rooms, but also offers two twin bedded rooms which my wife and I have used an an alternative to B&B in Penrith. The central kitchen and dining area has all you need to either cook you own meal from scratch, warm up something bought in the local supermarkets, or eat something purchased in one of the many local take aways! The hostel is in the centre of Penrith and has a secure cellar for storing bicycles overnight.

I've stayed numerous times at the Wayfarers. It is always quiet, clean and tidy. The breakfast option is basic, but good. Close to Penrith town centre. Secure bicycle parking a useful addition for cyclists.

Fabulous, stopped on Coast2Coast route, manager Mark drove me 30miles to rescue my GoPro which I had left on a fence — cannot thank him enough. The hostel itself is clean, bright, modern, with superb facilities, cannot fault the place. Highly recommend.

Less of a hostel more of a mini-hotel! One of the nicest, cleanest and well appointed hostels I have ever stayed in. The rooms are bright, clean and well thought out, even down to the USB charging points on the headboards. The kitchen/diner is spacious and fully equipped. Everything you need is here. There is bike store in the cellar and a really good drying room. The owners have gone above and beyond to cater for all your needs. The prices were very reasonable and worth every penny for the high standards. If you are hiking or cycle touring and need a place to stay I can't recommend it highly enough.

Stayed here for the C2C with my Dad. Excellent place to stay. We had an ensuite room with 2 single beds. Beds were very comfortable! Kitchen facilities were good. The basement has an assortment of tools if you need to work on your bike. No complaints really!

Great place with comfortable rooms and television room too. Facilities were very clean and staff helpful.

Very friendly staff! I wanted to arrange a hire of two bikes and person on the phone was very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, we were unable to take the trip and the bike hire cancelation went smoothly. If we ever end up going down to Lake District I would definitely consider staying with them!

This was the best hostel experience I had during three weeks of travel by bike in Britian and Ireland. The room was clean, modern, well maintained, and affordable. The staff I encountered were very friendly. The businesses' focus on cyclists was a definite plus. I would recommend going out of your way to stay here.

Very nice hostel with clean, modern facilities. Perfect for cyclists as it has a full bike shed with tools and bike stands in the cellar. If you are doing a long distance touring ride you can get in some much needed maintenance. The hostel owners really have thought of all the little things you might need if you are just passing through.

Best hostel I've ever been to.

The rooms were nice. The guy at the front desk was extremely froendly and helpful. They make the entire check in and out process completely painless. The kitchen was well equipped and the grocery stores aren't far at all.

It's the smallest, cutest hostel in Penrith. Very neat, very cozy. Highly recommended if you are there just for the weekend like I was.

A brilliant overnight stay while doing the C2C. Bike store, tools, spares etc friendly staff clean and comfortable.

A group of 7 of us stayed there last Saturday night. The place itself is excellent — perfectly clean, good quality comfortable beds and a fantastic drying room (which we really did need having just been drenched going up Skiddaw! ). The owners were great — let us in to the rooms early, and sorted out our parking so that we put 2 cars on their driveway. One of the best things was the shower … we were wet and cold after the walk … the shower was tremendous and welcome warmth before venturing out for a few beers & food. I cannot recommend it highly enough as long as you don't mind sharing! … we have already booked again for the next walk.

Friendly staff team. Hired their electric Renault Twizy for the day. Did not stay.

Simple, immaculately kept and comfortable accommodation in the heart of Cumbria. If you choose to stay here, ask about hiring Dec, one of the Twizy Flock!

Great backpackers hostel. The hostel was clean and we had great breakfast in the morning even though we didn't inform them the night before.

This place was amazing. Clean and easy to find even in the dark. Rooms where large and the bunk beds where easy to get in and out of.

A welcoming superb place to stay. Have just spent the weekend here as a family of 12. We had the whole hostel to ourselves and self catered in a very modern well equipped kitchen. Everything about this place is clean, welcoming and very comfortable. The staff are on hand all the time but very unobtrusive and so helpful. So glad our daughter found the Wayfarers. We had a wonderful family get together. We visited Lowther Castle, Askham, pottery and pub, and Penrith town on the first day and had snow on the Sunday so the kids had a ball snowballing. The drying room was a huge asset! Thank you to Mark and his parents. We hope to visit again sometime.

Clean and friendly, definitely recommend.

This has to be the best hostel I’ve stayed in to date. The family running the hostel have thought of everything from a welcoming check in, luxury shower, a very comfy bed and a large kitchen with all mod cons. It was warm, very clean, quiet and parking is available even though it’s only a few steps from all the amenities in Penrith. If you like the outdoors it’s a great place to stay as there are facilities to dry wet kit and there is lots of information at the reception on places to visit and walks and cycle routes to do.
