All the staff, from meeting the concierge at the door, to the reception staff and the spa staff, are all so friendly and helpful. They added the icing on the cake of what was an absolutely awesome stay. The food in the Orangery restaurant was out of this world. We will definitely be booking a return visit.

I went along to a spa day with my daughter, and I can honestly say it was just what I needed very relaxing and calming. All the staff are so so friendly and helpful and the afternoon tea was delicious, would highly recommend Rockliffe Hall to anyone. Me and my daughter came away wishing we could return the next day. Really great stay made perfect by their staff. Every single member of their team without exception were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble starting with Andrew meeting and greeting us. We have stayed in some of the top well known hotels in the UK recently and Rockliffe Hall shines out for super staff. Food was really delicious and beautifully presented. Superb amuse bouche, scallops, fish, venison, beef The waiting staff were excellent. Artemis, sommelier deserves a shout out-excellent advice-superb wine choices. Thank you Evieie & Lisa etc for our final breakfast giggles! 🥂. Beautiful suite with Donna making sure we had everything we needed and the Conciege making sure our ice bucket was always chilled in our room! Fabulous facial by Erin and seriously good massage by Ebony in the Spa and the mud Rasul was a great giggle! Leaving rested, refreshed, well fed, glowing and very happy! Thank you all.

This place is absolutely out of this world! My wife and I had an overnight stay yesterday as a belated wedding gift to each other and it was sublime! From the moment we arrived we were taken care of in the most impeccable way by all of the staff. Polite, pleasant, attentive and they simply cannot do enough to make your stay the best it can be! The spa and treatments were unreal (thank you so much Erin and Maegan). Food and drinks were epic, the room was beyond our expectations in every way and the special touch of a personalised card and bottle of fizz of the staff was so thoughtful, kind and appreciated! Thank you so much for an incredible treat! Book yourself a stay, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Had fantastic massage, and great food in the golf club. Stayed in tiplady lodge, very peaceful and private. Really enjoyed our stay.

We have just left Rockliffe Hall after spending two nights there. We thought it was amazing, faultless, staff were amazing, spa treatments and facilities were incredible, food was lovely! Lady in the spa restaurant (the manager I think) …so helpful and friendly. The staff in the spa — particularly the staff looking after the towels, cleanliness of the spa were amazing and so thoughtful with their jobs — the spa was spotless! Spa garden was worth every penny and love how well everything is looked after it really shows the staff care where they work. Afternoon tea area was beautiful! Loved the staff their (Lisa in particular and Abbie I think) Abbie served us for breakfast and was so lovely. Spa treatments (mud room) was beautifully laid out and explained well too us. Loved the many small touches which were offered; being offered water for our long journey of 4 and half hours to get home was something I’ve never been offered before! Was worth the journey though. Hotel reception were so friendly and professional. Best hotel and spa we’ve been too! Thank you for an amazing stay, can’t wait to come back.

We stayed here last night and the staff were all amazing. They helped set up the room with birthday decorations to surprise my partner and even gave us a complimentary room upgrade. All the staff (spa included) were very helpful and went above and beyond during our stay. It made for an incredible first birthday outside of Covid for my partner. Thank you!

Just come back from an amazing overnight stay at Rockliffe Hall. Me and my partner and another couple we are celebrating our 50th birthdays. From the moment we entered through the doors staff were wishing us both happy birthday. There was a birthday card in each of our rooms and when we went for our evening meal there was also a birthday card for each of us on our table The evening meal was absolutely delicious especially the truffle macaroons I raved on about them so much that the chef sent four extra ones out as a treat. We were treated like royalty for a full stay and I have come home feeling more relaxed than I have done in years it is a fantastic venue with fantastic staff and fantastic food it is worth every single penny.

Thank you to Rebecca for making me feel the most relaxed I’ve ever felt! Just out of a 60min warm oil massage and it was absolutely amazing. Rebecca was friendly and made he instantly feel comfortable and relaxed. She took time to explain the treatment and listened to my preferences. I’m feeling at total ease. Can’t wait to come back and I’ve not left yet! Thank you.

Spa is just so special and relaxing. Hotel is amazing, starting with the brilliant and efficient Concierge. All staff so friendly, nothing is a problem. Standards of everything is 5* as far as we were concerned. Our party had a room in Old Hall, and a two bedroomed apt, not been in apt before, but they were as high standard as the Hotel rooms, and gave flexibility for meeting for drinks, food etc on evening we didn't eat in Hotel. Well done Rockcliffe, yet again… we will definitely be back.

Rockliffe has something for everyone……staff were helpful and attentive, nothing was a bother and they came up with ideas of how best to extend and spend our time with them…… Spa, treatments, accommodation, food, alcohol and ride on the golf buggy……were all fantastic…. Such a beautiful relaxing place to stay!

We have just enjoyed a lovely mid week stay. Beautiful hotel, gorgeous grounds, fabulous spa and luxurious treatments, wonderful restaurants and menus and lots of walking trails. The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive.
Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely outside afternoon tea. All staff are still wearing masks and ask guests to when moving around so it feels very safe. Great service and a delicious tea in the sunshine on the terrace. Just what we needed.

Love this place. Last stayed in 2015 and finally returned. The hotel and the grounds are just beautiful we had a suite which was huge with amazing facilities. Spa was not overly busy and oranagry was Devine can’t wait to return. ❤️

Terrible customer service. Booked a spa night for a Xmas gift, was due to attend next week and they cancelled it! When I emailed them to change the date instead of cancelling they never replied to my email. I used to go often for spa nights away but will now use your competitors (seaham hall & ramside hall) instead as their service has always been 100%

Visited the clubhouse today to celebrate my daughters birthday for breakfast! The team were great, really attentive and friendly! Breakfast was tasty as always and they made a fab effort in decorating the table! Thanks so much! :)

Had a fantastic stay here with my wife for my birthday. Friendly staff, excellent spa and the tasting menu with wine pairings introduced us to new delights — superb. Very high standards!

You can turn up here in a million pound car, but they will treat you like anyone else. If you are looking for a premium experience, go somewhere else. The old hall manager loves his job but not his customers or the revenue they provide to pay his wages. 3 star at best.

One of my favourite places to go. Amazing spa, great food — always feel relaxed here. Wish you would do your stay Sunday, spa Monday offer again — really liked that one.

Very exclusive hotel that offers lots for all ages, especially now the children's park and huts are open for younger kids. The food at the restaurants are spot on and the staff are lovely. The child minding service is excellent. The only reason for 4 stars is the service in the brasserie was slow and dogs are restricted to the dog friendly rooms, this doesn't make the hotel dog friendly in my opinion.

Had a spa day here which included a treatment. The welcome was warm, but our welcome drinks in the bar somehow got forgotten, we mentioned it and had them by the pool so that was ok. We also got asked for our printed booking reference a couple of times, but had presented it already, so maybe the communication between staff for arrival could be improved. The spa facilities are really good, lots of variation in the hydro pool and the ice room was amazing (only for about 5 mins though! ). Treatments were good, nice friendly staff etc. We’ll definitely return!

By far the best spa experience I have been to. The varied rooms in the hotel are also worthy of their 5 star status. What I love about this place is the treatment from the staff, very good front of house.

Whether you are staying in the Hotel, or visiting the Spa or Golf Club. You will not be disappointed. There are 3 restaurants and all have 5☆ quality of food and service. For that special occasion you should give it a try. If you like golf the course is probably the longest in Europe, however you can have a challenge off the forward Tees. We enjoyed it so much my wife and I joined the golf club! The Spa resort is second to none. We experience this quality on every visit. So why are you waiting.

Excellent hotel from beginning to end, considering the best hotel I'd been in was a new premier Inn this showed me what a hotel should be like, as soon as we arrived our bags were taken off us then taken to our room during the check-in we were offered a drink as well. When we arrived the lock was broken on the door so we didn't have a card but they went straight away to get us a key, this wasn't an issue for us in the slightest as we still had a key end of. After checking out the room itself we went to the spa and chilled out and took advantage of everything they had on offer. I used the gym which was very nice, more of a fitness suite than a gym but still I was able to sort my workout out and back to the spa to relax. The room itself was huge with a huge to bed to go along with it and a patio with access to the garden as well. The only issue with the room I would say would be to upgrade the TV in the tiplady rooms but everything else was perfect.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Rooms are large and very comfortable. The spa and spa garden are exceptional and make it well worth a visit. Good choice of food but recommend you book early.

From the moment you drive into Rockcliffe your troubles seem to melt away, the welcome is always friendly and the staff can't seem to do enough for you, the check in is fast and effective in letting you know where everything is in relation to your room, The old hall superior room we stayed in was stunning and so well equipped, the bath was a lovely size and the TV on the tiles lets you while away a little longer in the bath tub! Leaving the room for dinner the soft music coming from the live pianist is always a good start to the evening, the menu in the Brasserie was excellent and the service top notch! A late drink the residents bar is a must, of course some rooms are nicer than others. Come morning there was a tiny issue with the water which was resolved before it became a problem, The Breakfast was excellent and the buffet as well gave some good options to compliment the cooked breakfast. Then it was off to the Spa which is one of the nicest Spa's I have been too in the UK! Always do the Garden Spa before you leave and remember have fun, and try the golf driving range (free to hotel guests)

Lovely. Lovely… lovely. Such a beautiful place… wonderful service experience… so far. Still have 4 days. But so far. From what I've experienced, … it has everything you've ever need… . Really an upscale place… Makes you feel Uber happy!

Absolutely stunning Hall. Cannot fault the staff, everyone we encountered were polite and friendly. Even the housekeepers acknowledge us when walking around which doesn't happen often. Have had a lot of contact with Lindsey Watson who is always prompt at replying to queries.

We have stayed at the hotel several times and never had a bad experience. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our bikes so we had to use the hotel ones. This was a free service. One of the best hotels that we have stayed in.

Picturesque location that's easy to access. Beautiful spacious room with a very very comfortable bed. Excellent staff. Breakfast was fantastic & served in the Orangery restaurant which was great thematically. Excellent Spa facilities included in the booking. The Brasserie restaurant was the only downside as I found it slightly dissapointing but still enjoyed a decent meal. Highly recommended and will be visiting again.

Played the golf course and it was in excellent condition. All other courses in the area were closed. The staff are really friendly.

Stayed in the Armstrong Apartments… Top Floor … Terrible stay doors constantly banging could hear kids running around on the floor below! Main Doors banging no soft closers we counted 15 times one morning at 7.30am.! Quieter places to stay in the area! Inexperienced young staff on reception desk £25.00 per person for breakfast is extortionate This place is rapidly going downhill such a shame it used to be fabulous.

Awesome hotel and spa. We had an amazing meal in the orangerie, 2 fantastic days in the Spa and a bland meal in the brasserie that didn't really match the quality and effort being put into the rest of the hotel.

Our 4 yr old son had Tea with Sant today. It was brilliant. Well organised, the staff, the games, face painting, the snack, etc etc. Santa and his grotto. On our way home he said "I have had a lovely day" that sums it up, Thanks.

Bit of a ' gin palace '. Not my taste. Could be excellent for spa, gym or sports people. All that glitters is not gold. Beautifully maintained everywhere.

My friends and I visited Rockliffe to celebrate a significant birthday. The lady in question is diabetic and as stated in their policy ' inform us of any special dietary requirements' this I did and tea was agreed upon at the time of booking. On the day no 'special' tea was presented, when I tried to sort this out all they could offer were more sandwiches and two more scones. We accepted this as we didn't want to spoil the afternoon for our friend I did however send an email to the hotel informing them of our disappointment. The reply I got offered an apology but also stated that they do not offer a diabetic tea selection. My query is do other people with dietary requirements e. G. Celiacs, glutton free, nut allergies have the same disappointing experience. As a 5 star hotel surely the chefs are trained with this knowledge and could provide the type of tea that is required by the clientele, many cafes and restaurants that do not profess to be 5 star are able to do this. There has been no gestures of good will other than they will give the staff training. I have also sent an email to the manager for his views on this matter but as yet have not had a reply. Very disappointing and expensive sandwich and scones.

It is a beautifully historic building which has been converted to an excellent 5star hotel & spa that caters for most walks of life, it is within the budget of most people be it an indulgence or a whim. It serves great food & drinks to match most tastes.

Our 3rd visit for my anniversary, and as ever the whole place looks great! Unfortunately we got offered as we thought free bottle of bubbly while lounging in the Spa, then got hit with a £42.00 charge. Also had the mud experience again, and had the pleasure of parking my backside on a old used pair of soggy paper pants. We made this aware to ladies on the desk, but no offer of anything complementary, just an oh sorry! This is a 5 star hotel, so sorry if I sound a little petty, but cleaning a spa room out before the next guest use it is pretty basic, not asking for much! Would really appreciate a response. Thanks.

This place is totally amazing, from the outstanding customer service provided by every member of staff to the breathtaking scenery surrounding it. The Spa is a real place to relax and feel well and truly pampered, refreshments are provided and you will leave feeling rejuvenated. Top it off with a meal in one of the restaurants where the food is absolutely delicious.

Great day out playing golf. Clubs cleaned for us before and after the game. Great course and lovely surroundings. If I could I would give it a 6 star!

We attended a wedding here. The whole hall is fantastic. The surrounding grounds are stunning. Rooms are amazing and staff are fantastic. It is not a cheap place to stay but you do get your moneys worth.

We had a half-day at the spa with lunch at the brasserie. The facilities were lovely, as usual. There is a great choice of pools/rooms/hot tubs to choose from, and everything was clean and well-kept. Unfortunately the service was poor. Lunch service was very slow, and we had to wait until our main course for our drinks, with no apology forthcoming. I had to leave the spa experience early to deal with a family emergency, and called to ask if they could delay lunch slightly. I was told they would not delay our sitting, and that my lunch would be cold when I got to it. Fortunately my husband spoke to someone in the brasserie who very kindly agreed to wait until I got back just a few minutes late. The service was so disappointing that we are reluctant to return. And there was a strong taste of smoky bacon in one spoonful of my otherwise delicious chocolate mousse (didn't get an apology for that either).

Absolutely outstanding experience. Staff are attentive and amazing. The tasting menu was an experience not to be missed. The spa is also great. The new rooms are beautiful with everything you need. 5 star.

Superb hotel in quiet surroundings. Staff are always professional and happy to help in anyway. 3 restaurants to choose from ranging from the clubhouse to the orangery. The spa is an added bonus with all days use with treatments available too. The rooms are big and the bathrooms are modern with TVs in the bathtub. If you want a luxury stay, this is the hotel you want.

Fantastic setting! Brilliant service and really good food! Prices weren't too bad either, we paid £25 each for 3 courses off the Sunday lunch menu. We opted for to have small portions of each dish for starters, main and desert which proved to be quite a nice variety. The portions were generous and delicious therefore I would definitely recommend giving the menu a go. All in all I was very satisfied with the experience.

This hotel deserves the five stars it had associated with it. The rooms were very spacious and modern. The golf course is excellent an well maintained. The spa has everrhthing you could ask for. The food is a little fancy however if you go to the spikes bar at the golf club the food is reasonably priced and delicious.

Fantastic location and incredible food. The staff at Rockliffe bent over backwards to do everything to make our wedding day special. Cannot fault anything about the place.

Spent the weekend here, attending a wedding. The rooms were huge and furnished to a very good standard. All of the staff at the hotel were polite and helpful throughout, never hesitating to provide assistance. The scenery is beautiful and the food delicious. My only criticism would be the lack of footpaths to enjoy the grounds, go for a jog etc. Obviously that's a very minor point. Overall a lovely place to spend a weekend. For those considering a wedding here all I can say is everything seemed to go without a hitch and every guest appeared to be having a fantastic time.

Excellent day at the spa, let down by not being told the steam room was out of action. Excellent facilities as always, staff attentive, excellent lunchtime meal in the brasserie. New outdoor hot tub excellent.

This hotel is stunning for its location and interior. Food was stunning both at breakfast and dinner. Spa is exceptional. If I had to pick fault it would be the bathroom, didn't feel luxurious like rest of room and TV in bath wasn't working.

I booked as part of a golfing party whose main aim was to play the superb course there (if you are a golfer it is a masterpiece of golf design). The rooms are luxurious, the staff were friendly and dinner and breakfast — both of which we took in the clubhouse restaurant — were excellent. I'd stayed at Gleneagles the previous weekend and this experience compared favourably with that. Highly recommended as a luxury treat and a must of golfing connoisseurs. Top marks to all involved at Rockliffe Hall, you are doing a great job.

Fantastic Rooms, Fantastic service, staff are very attentive and make you very welcome. I would highly recommend this hotel to any body who wishes to stay in this part of the world in complete luxury.

As hotel stays go this is the best experience I have had yet. Rooms are amazing and spacious and the service is second to non. The spa is available to guests as part of the price which allows for an even more relaxing stay. Prices are as you would expect for such a nice hotel, but well worth it as a treat.

We have been to a spa day at Rockliffe Hall what a fantastatic day Luxury Luxury Luxury. We had 15min back massage and 45 min facial lovely lunch excellent service we have really been spoilt. Saving up for the next day or stay.

I am actually shocked at the comments below stating the poor service and been over priced!. Rockcliffe was brilliant when I spent a spa day there and also had meals before my wedding. From the moment we arrived it was fantastic all the way through. The service, facilities and food were outstanding. We are staying at Rockcliffe again tonight and also having a meal there as well as Spa treatments and use of the facilities. I will write a review again about tonight but I am sure it will be as fantastic as it always has been.
