Lovely friendly place to stay, absolutely immaculate and will definitely be going back 😊

We love this warm comfortable place to stay with an amazing breakfast and such lovely home cooked meals in the evening … but most of all we love the friendless of the owners and staff making you feel at home and so comfortable in there pub… fantastic for dog owners like ourselves with a fabulous little woodland walk just across the road and close to so many lovely places. We will be back again and again.

Spending 2 nights at this little gem. The rooms are modern and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic this morning. One of the best pints of John Smith's smooth. The food for evening meal is such good value and cooked to perfection. I recommend the Mixed Grill if you have a hearty appetite. Perfect stay for Durham. Thank you all the team.

The food is gorgeous. We've had a few different dishes form the menu now and haven't had anything that wasn't cooked perfectly and good quality. I'd definitely recommend the Royal Oak if you haven't been yet.

We had a delivery of Fish and Chips on Friday and I can not recommend them enough. They were absolutely beautiful!

Fantastic food tonight from the Royal Oak! The hunters chicken was delicious, the girls chose the pizza and chips which were buy far better than the local pizza delivery, with so much more flavour, fantastic food and fantastic price ❤️ x.

Good quality food at a good price.

Just finished our three course meal for two, collected it from the pub, drove back to Bearpark, food was all piping hot, the food was absolutely fantastic couldn’t fault it at all, just need to order an extra portion of mash next time! Highly recommended, will be ordering again, very soon! Thank you for being open!

Just had my first takeaway Sunday dinner it was fantastic. Went for the lamb and the missus and bairn had the chicken all cooked perfectly. Will be booking up again for next week thanks.

Came here last week for a family meal. Food was absolutely gorgeous! Great portions and so so tasty. We will definitely be back. Great atmosphere and staff were brilliant. Toy box in the corner for the kids was an added bonus too!

Just been for Sunday lunch and we weren’t disappointed. Plenty of meat and veg served in a warm friendly environment. For what you get the price is very good and we’ll definitely be back. It’s nice to have somewhere on your door step without driving miles.

We had our Christmas dinner here last year and it was fabulous, we will be booking again this year. The food and the service were both perfect.

Very friendly staff. Great Sunday lunch. Very good value. Comfortable and clean rooms. Slight downside was room was warm so window was open which meant smokers were right below the window and smell came into room. Otherwise all else was super. Thanks.

Lovely beef and lamb dinner today. Gorgeous fresh veg, tender meat, delicious gravy. Couldn’t manage the huge homemade Yorkshire puds so brought them back for tea! Would defs recommend.

Cracking little pub, friendly staff and locals, nice real ale at the bar too. Room was nice and clean and airy, great value for money.

We stayed here in a family room as we were attending a party nearby. It was lovely and spacious. The food was amazing — and the staff catered to our allergies and gluten intolerance which is a rare find! The staff was super — we came back late after our party at which we could not eat food due to allergies and the landlady dished up some delicious beef sandwiches despite the kitchen being closed. All this to say, very highly recommend!

We stayed one night bed and breakfast. Sonia and Ian are very friendly… nothing is too much trouble. They have a great knowledge of the area. The pub is very friendly. Husband and I couldn't have picked better place to get stranded. Staff and locals could not have been more helpful. Made us feel more like friends than customers. Even managed to get soy milk despite roads being unpassable. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Room was spacious. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience good old northern hospitality. Many thanks Sonia to you and all your amazing staff and customers. Community spirit alive and well in this neck of the woods. 5 stars.

Great staff and owners and an excellent breakfast. Rooms are clean although a little tired and need updating but very comfortable beds. Would stay here again if back in that area.

The Royal Oak is a friendly pub with a good atmosphere. Me and my wife have been twice for Sunday dinner and we had the beef which l highly recommend and the staff couldn't do enough it also a good price for what you get.

Lovely place. Sonia and staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was excellent ad home cooked, and reasonably priced. Very comfy room and good choices for breakfast. Would recommend and hope to return.
