Great food, veg cooked to perfection.

A very warm welcome when we arrived. Super friendly staff! Super comfy bed Spotlessly clean room. Fabulous breakfast Perfect poached eggs. Would most definitely stay her again!

Really enjoyed a meal here on Friday night. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, particularly the calamari. Thank you x.

Been here a few times, stayed here in august and visited for dinner and tea aswel. Food is lovely, the staff are really friendly and we always have good service here.

Poor service 3 — staff stood smoking outside instead of being attentive. Went to the pub across the rd instead for tea … The Black Bull immediate service with a smile :)

Stayed last night. Was lovely from start to finish. Room was spacious, comfy bed, powerful shower. Our evening meal was very nice as was breakfast. Staff were friendly and welcoming even though absolutely rushed off their feet.

The place is beautiful relaxing and friendly. Just ordered some food too.

Found this spot had a great roast here, service was fantastic, area for dogs and also a dog free area. Really were accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend popping in here when in the area ❤️

Very friendly staff behind bar, unfortunately no craft ciders which others in coniston offer but cloudy apple and pork scratchings very tasty indeed.

Very friendly welcome, we only had a delicious toastie but the bread is from the bakery round the corner. Came with a nice side salad and slaw.

Cool barman. What he can’t tell you about the local beers isn’t worth knowing. And then get him started on the gins…

Fabulous doggy friendly hotel the staff are so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We had a lovely room everything we needed after a long day hiking. Food was the best and the most accommodating we’ve had on our weekend in the lakes. A vegan haven after a day up the old man. We will be back thank you.

It was ok… Lovely venue. Tom was great. Lemonade not good but was swapped, chips expensive and only one bowl (fries) was nicely cooked the others (chunky) were a bit odd.

Really nicely refurbished. Was lovely and cool on a hot day. Good selection of drinks and very friendly staff.

Visited this twice while on holiday in the Lake District. Dog friendly. Lunch was outside due to the weather, staff very friendly and meals brought in a timely Manor. Their garlic parmasane cheese chips are to die for.

So disappointed by our visit today. Scorching hot and just down off the fells, waited for an outdoor seat then sat down in the perfect spot, and I went in to get menus. Given to me and told to order at the bar. The menu looked great
— as did the pub. Went up to the bar a few minutes later to be told they stopped serving at 3 and it was 3.03pm. we were beyond annoyed that no one had warned us and to top it off, I got my phone out when we gathered our stuff and left the pub — it was 3.01pm so the tills were clearly fast! rubbish customer service.

Had a fantastic meal here. The garlic and parmesan chips and the sticky toffee pudding that I had were the best I have ever had. Very polite staff and the hotel is set with a wonderful view of the Old Man.

Best bar service I’ve ever had, would highly highly recommend. Top food, ordered the mezze platter to start followed by the ballotine chicken and the chicken, red onion and chorizo pizza. Awesome food, chicken was cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. The ale is perfect, as is the wide selection of gins. Do not walk past this inn. Best in coniston, cheers.

I stayed in the double bed room by myself which was simple but had all the necessary facilities. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a view out over the garden which was nice. I had a mixed experience for breakfast service however. The first day the service was terrible, however the food was good. I had to ask for tea (first world problem? ), I got a weird look when I did ask. On the second day service was much better (a different person serving me), food good also, and they asked me if I wanted tea or coffee; god bless them. There’s basically no parking, but free street parking around the corner. Location is great also for travelling to nearby attractions. Thank you for having me.

They pride themselves on being the highest pub in Lakeland. Great walks. Secluded. 500 year old pub. Good prices and friendly staff. Would like to return. We popped in for drinks after a walk up to high street, parked by the pub.

Enjoyable stay, good food and drink selection, breakfast is not to be missed. DBB rate good value for money. Rooms just need to have a bit more tlc, however had a great time + the Tag Lag (ale) was worth coming back for.

This morning the staff at the Y cafe came to the rescue of my dad when he came off his bike just outside their door. Bleeding and bruised they took him in and made sure he was warm, safe and then called my mum to let her know, as his phone had broken in the fall. I can't thank the staff enough for their exceptional kindness, particularly the waitress Joanne. He has commented that your coffee is also fantastic and that all cyclists should pop in to try it! Thank you so much for taking care of my dad, with warmest wishes, Siobhan.

Food is outstanding in both the restaurant and the café, would recommend without hesitation, look forward to visiting again. Staff have been very professional and personable. Fabulous!

Didnt stay there but had evening meal and breakfast and both were superb cuisine and great service… sure to return.

Came for an advertised QUIZ night, bought drinks which were very xpensive, pint of old peculiar 4.18 snd half strongbow total 6.15. Ten minutes after settling in told quiz was cancelled, vague reason and pub emptied. Must have missed a lot of bar sales tonight.

A great place for a drink and good food. Food is not served all day so watch the timings.
Thomas the bar man is so friendly and will recommend a good cocktail if that is what you want.
Definitely worth a visit.

Rude bar manager… we were in one group of people there was another group of people in the bar who were swearing but we got the blame as he got mixed up… don't know what he was thinking!

Had a lovely 3 night stay here. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff lovely, breakfast was fab and the evening meal we had was delicious.
Only negatives were shower and bathroom really small but not a massive issue, curtains let a bit too much light in. I like a really dark room.
Church bells chiming a little annoying but not hotels fault. I would come back and recommend.

Food and service fantastic, I've tried a couple of items on the menu and both were perfect. The location is good for Coniston Water and the lakes in general. Room was clean and comfortable. We'll definitely be back!

Very clean, friendly landlord (or bar staff, not sure which! Good selection of beer. Only popped in for a pint and I had old peculiar which had obviously been kept well as it was awesome!

We went to Yewdale Inn twice while on holiday in Coniston. Food was really great, they made even my fish finger sandwich into a delicious fare. However, the older gentleman serving at the bar seemed quite stressed and he was not very pleasant towards us for an unknown reason (but as foreigners we have our guesses, especially as he seemed bit more pleasant to natives). On first night he practically refused to sell us a dessert, as the kitchen was 'too busy'. I might not be able to persuade my husband to go there again, which is a shame as the food was lovely and the pub was really cosy, with stylish decor. All other staff seemed nice and relaxed, maybe he just needs some holiday as well! I would still recommend, as I'm a bit thick skinned and love good food!

A nice, affordable lunch at the café and a great pint from the hotel bar next door (which I was able to bring to the café. An excellent view of the Coniston fells from the outside seating. Friendly and helpful staff when I enquired about free parking and samples of their ales.

Went in here last night after a lovely meal at the black Bull opposite to watch the 2nd half of the football. But were turned away by the barman as they don't do stag do's. Lucky the Crown Inn round the corner were more accommodating and had better tv's too. Thought they would have appreciated the custom as it's wasn't exactly busy in there and our stag party had a range of ages in it 22-72 thought they would have seen we were a sensible lot. Oh well lost business and a negative revew as a result.

Pleasant atmosphere, food was OK but expensive for what it was. Which was basic pub grub.

Food and beer top notch although the price of a pint was a bit of a shock, pub could do with updating as it feels like your in someone's living room and it was very warm when we were there.

Visited 24/4/2016. Beer good. Food really good. Staff friendly and well turned out. Take pride in their job and themselves. Best local pub by a country mile.
