Stayed for 3 nights with my partner and our dog. Very welcoming and great breakfast. Great selection of Coniston ales but my only complaint was the price! Why are the beers which are brewed in the village so expensive! Can't be transport costs!

We had a lovely sit outside in a rare Lakeland day of sunshine watching the village centre life and busy sparrows. Good choice of well kept local ales. Food was competently cooked, at Lake District prices, of course.

Fabulous pub, selling award-winning beer brewed on the premises. Located right in the centre of Coniston with a car park to the rear by the brewery. You can sit outside and watch the world go by, or snug inside, with food served all day. Free Wi-Fi. Thoroughly recommend the 3.6% Bluebird Bitter — really hoppy, full of flavour. Dogs are welcome. Also serves tea and coffee. We will definitely go back.

Always first on my list of places to visit for a drink when I'm in the Lake District. Wonderful beer. Oatmeal Stout is my favourite draft here. Always buy a case to take home too.

Fantastic lakeland pub. Very old and historic. Food was excellent but a bit pricey. Great choice of local, well kept ales. Has accommodation. I do intend to stay at some point.

Very nice pub. Great range of ales. Dog friendly. Food looks very nice (I didn't actually eat anything, but it looked and smelled good) Really enjoyed my time there.

We had the best roast beef dinner at the Black Bull. The portions were very generous and the beef was so tender. The gravy was to die for. Our sticky toffee pudding and custard that followed was a taste sensation. We will be back and would highly recommend it to everyone.

Great location. Quite central for lots of walks. Small but clean rooms. Pub very busy so we didn't use it. But breakfast was great. They even fed the dog!

I really enjoyed a evening in the Bull. It has a great range of coniston ales, other lagers and gins. Barman very chatty and welcoming.

Great pub in the Heart of Coniston. Has its own micro brewery at the back of the premises. A must for the 'real ale' lovers. Bluebird Bitter is highly recommended! Good food menu with reasonable prices.

Very cosy pub. Great beers. Very popular. Had a paddle of 3 beers which was a good way to sample the wares. Partner had a fruit tea (something for everyone). Service was a bit unfriendly.

This is a lovely old pub with plenty of character. Bar staff were pleasant. They have a good selection of ales which I think are brewed on site. On the whole a smashing place to visit for a quick tipple.

We had our Sunday roast here. The food was ample & delicious. It was really enjoyed. The staff were very friendly towards us which made our visit worthy. Yes we would return. Also Pug friendly, so a deffo thumbs up from me :) Only downside is that the pub has no parking. However, there is paid parking a short distance away.

Fab room, awesome breakfast. In family room as only one left but only charged us for a double room. Pub food very good too. Clean and nice atmosphere. Would definitely come again.

Plenty of seating, nice food and beer. Very friendly and competent waiting staff. Dog friendly. Excellent range of beers some brewed on the premises. The food was a bit expensive for what it was but that seems par for the course for the Lake District and Coniston in particular.

A great range of well-kept beers, brewed here. Some really tasty beers, several relatively weak at 3.4 and 3.6% abv. Good food too, and a nice proper pub atmosphere.

Good service besides being very busy. Very good beer (micro-brewery in the premises). Watch out for the midges if you are sitting outside in the summer. We ordered 2 medium-rare steaks and they came medium-well, surely because the kitchen was very busy. Good experience overall.

Great, authentic British pub food with a great selection of great local beers. All you want from a pub in the lakes. Great for groups of all sizes. I would definitely recommend and will be going again should I go to Coniston again.

Renowned for its award winning real ales the Black Bull also serves amazing food and has excellent accommodation. Can get busy due to its central location.

Really cozy pub with places indoors and outdoors. The fireplace makes the room very comfortable. The draught beers were very good, the food was rather mau. The burger didn't taste like much. They have free Wi-Fi and can spend a nice evening or afternoon with a few beers.

One of my favourite pubs because of their own brewing company with lovely cask ales, always on tap (about 6 at any one time. Plus other taps) and its very old traditional feel. Stone built, low wooden beam ceiling. Lovely and cosy! Very nice food too! Beautiful town.

The Black Bull was a really nice pub full of locals and walkers alike. There was plenty of seating throughout the pub and it looked like dogs were welcome too. They had quite a few local brews which is always a plus. We called up last minute on a Saturday and they were very accommodating taking all 8 of us at short notice for dinner. The food was really well cooked and relatively well priced at between £13 — £20 for a main and £4 — £6.50 for dessert. The service was pleasant and the food was quick to come out. I really enjoyed the evening and would recommend going back! I would have liked to see some fires on the go but that's all I could suggest.

The food was delicious and portions were good. The menu was exactly the same as last year when we visited. There were not many vegetarian options, and I was visiting with several veggies friends. They all had to choose the same meal in the end! My friends were drinking alcohol, and I was not, but they liked the range of ales here.

Stopped here after coming down from the Old Man Coniston. Sat outside which was fine but just next to the road. They wouldn't accept card under £10 which was annoying. Nice toilets though and my bf enjoyed the home brewed ale.

Lovely food and a fine selection of craft ales including those from the nearby coniston brewery. They catered for my brothers stag do this weekend for 12 of us and had a number of other groups one of which was larger than ours. But the food all arrived together and was nice and hot and tasty. Would recommend a visit there for anyone staying or passing through Coniston.

Great food and very friendly staff. Added to which it has its own brewery with some mighty fine ales on offer. Whether there on a lazy weekend or a walking marathon it's a great place to call into. It will definitely become a regular of ours.

Nice quick service. Shame about the dirty toilets and flies in the restaurant…

Perfect spot for some good pub grub after a walk. Make sure you try the Oatmeal Stout!

Lovely atmosphere and great food in this historic 400 year old pub located in the heart of the village. There's also a great selection of local ales on offer including a couple that are brewed by the Black Bull themselves. Definitely worth a visit!

Perfect after a hike on the mountain. Lovely food and good beer selection (brewery on site). And it is dog friendly which is a big plus for us.
